Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this audio book.
This was my first book by this author. I grabbed it because she was attending a book signing I was going to be attending. New author to me is exciting right???!!!
The book is about Rose who lives in a super natural town but she is unaware since she s just a human. She works for 3 hottie brothers…er..vampires and lusts over then nightly. She knows they aren’t interested in her that way or are they?
Sebastian, Dean, and Finn have lusted over the curvy and sassy bartender since they met her. Their pull to her is getting strong by the day but they know they can’t have her. It would be unfair to her to either change her or watch her die while they stayed young and vibrant. The men all of a sudden see another vampire taking interest and their world turns upside down.
When Jason, an attractive man, chats up Rose and then kidnaps Rose everything she knew about the world is suddenly changed. She soon learns of her new life and all about her bosses. Rose is going to do everything to get back to the brothers and hope they will accept the new version of her.
I liked the story but I admit the narration was not my favorite so at times I would turn the story off. The inflections fell flat at times. A narrator’s voice can really make or break a story. There were times I felt like she was reading an essay because there just wasn’t any emotion in the “book”.
I did like the story but wonder if my enjoyment would have been hirer with reading vs the audio book to be honest.

Jewels Arthur has lived in Central Illinois her entire life, she is a small town girl at heart and is terrified of city life. She grew up on a farm with 27 barn cats, video games, movies, and books to keep her company. She is obsessed with romance and swoon. Especially the paranormal type — humans are truly overrated.

As a hopeless romantic she wants everyone around her to be in love and wants to read about love all the time. She got married at 19 (suprise suprise) and she had a beautiful baby girl 3 years later when she finished college. She graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies. Her obsession with love led her to decide that she needed to write her own swoony books, with a bit of dirty of course 😉

The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him.

When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. He moves into her house, fanning the spark of attraction into a blaze. But the danger continues to escalate. Will the connection that they’ve found survive when they’re thrust into a fight for their lives?

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased the ebook and audio deal on Amazon.

The narration is very different from any I have listened to before.  I didn’t dislike nor love the narrator, Eric G. Dove. At times I felt it was a little stiff and more essay style reading, but it could be because the story was in 3rd person.  So continuously hearing someone say/read the main characters names during the story pulled me out at times.  He did a good job changing up the different voices in the story for the multiple characters though.

The story is about a disabled military veteran who has not felt any love or inklings for attraction since he became “less than” as he feels.  When the new secretary starts work, he starts to feel more but knows an attractive woman like her would have no interest in a man like him.

Shannon has a long history and has had her fair share of bad boyfriends so when she starts to have a growing affection for her boss, John, she is afraid she will lose her job or have her feelings rebuffed.

When Shannon’s past “boyfriend” resurfaces, John is there to help her and soon their mutual attraction is undeniable for them much like everyone around them.  I enjoyed the cast of characters and their history together.  I loved the banter the guy had and gave each other.  I really enjoyed how John and his partner went above and beyond to help fellow military vets with anything they can.  Sometimes serving up truth about their mental wellbeing even when they do not want to hear it.

The twist of the who and why of Shannon’s story line was unexpected and I was shocked at everything as it unfolded as I did not see it coming.  But lets be honest I never figure out who the bad guys are EVER! LOL.

Cocky Doc: A Hero Club Novel by [Samantha Lind , Hero Club ]

I was minding my own business at my new job as a child life specialist when the sexiest doctor in the hospital fell into my lap… literally.

He was every woman’s fantasy, the Adonis in a white coat was charming, not to mention brilliant.

Dr. Andrew “Drew” Montgomery was quite the catch, not the usual type of guy who I’d expect to fall for a woman like me.

The first man who saw past my wheelchair, Drew was also the first man I could see myself settling down with.

We started dating, and everything seemed fine, but something was holding him back, Drew was married to his job and he carried the weight of his namesake. A name I wasn’t sure I could live up to.

I meant to keep my guard up, but it was no use. I was in over my head the moment his gorgeous blue eyes thoroughly examined me.

I knew my body was in good hands, but could I trust my heart with the cocky doctor?

Review by Twinsie Angie

I purchased this ebook and audio since the audio was on sale at the time.

I will say I LOVED Jacob’s narration for the story.  His voice for Drew and Megan were great.  He also did a killer voice for Drew’s best friend.  Lucy’s narration for Megan and Drew were ok.  It was a little too breathy at times and seemed to not flow as easy as Jacob did.  But it didn’t stop with my enjoyment of the story.

Drew is a total playboy.  He loves his job and loves to hit it and quit it with the ladies.  He isn’t looking for anything serious because he doesn’t think he has anything to give anyone. When he literally crashes into the new Child Life Specialist at the hospital, he soon realizes the best things can come in wheelchairs.

Megan is so excited to finally have her dream job.  Being wheelchair ridden she knows what it’s like being stuck in the hospital as a kiddo and wants to help others.  When she gets to work on her first day, she meets Lucy who soon becomes her best friend and job mentor.  When the hot doctor lands in her lap, she is stunned how polite and kind he is.  The two soon become friends and when they find themselves as dates for a hospital gala, the couple soon see each other in a different light.

The story is a great show of how when you find the right person everything in your life soon clicks and fits right!!  Megan is the best support system for Drew.  Drew is the best man for Megan in that he shows her everything she never thought would be possible.  I loved this story.  I loved how the couple are so perfect for each other.  They are the ying to the others yang.

#REVIEW – Varity by Colleen Hoover

A thrilling, instant bestseller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author. Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

She decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Due to extremely mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+. Sensitive topics that may be triggering to some readers include graphic death/murder, child abuse, graphic sex

What the heck did I just read??? So I haven’t read a Co-Ho book since her Slammed Series. Well…this book, my friends, is nothing like those ones! I’m a huge fan of horror and thriller and anything that can mess with my head, so when I was told that this book is creepy, I was intrigued. But wow…I was NOT in no way shape or freaking form, prepared for that! At all. Like nope. No way. No how was I prepared.

Lowen is a struggling writer, a lot of them are. She just lost her mother and is feeling the impact of that and the weight of the world on her shoulders. One day she ends up having to go to a meeting and something truly awful happens that she witnesses. In walks Jeremy who saves the day by giving her his shirt off his back. Literally.

Lowen arrives at her meeting finally and lo and behold, Jeremy is there. After everything is said and done, Lowen ends up basically moving into Jeremy’s house to finish out the series that his wife can no longer write after being in a tragic accident that has left her immobile.

While Lowen spends her days reading and doing research for this series that she reluctantly agrees to finish, she ends up finding an autobiography from Jeremy’s wife herself. And that’s when the crazy happens.

I don’t want to go into too much detail but wow. Just wow. My mind is reeling. I spent every chapter trying to figure out what the heck was going on and by the end of the book, I was like, WTF that did so not happen. But it left me wondering, what would I do in that situation? How would I react? How would I respond?

This book brought out that old reader in me who could spends days reading books and getting lost in other worlds. That reader hasn’t been around for awhile but thanx to this book, I’ve finally found that reader once again.

Thank you, Colleen, for writing this book. Hands down one of my favourite readers. Ever.

#REVIEW – The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

An Instant Bestseller!
The New York Times USA Today The Globe and Mail The Toronto Star

New York Times
bestselling author Tarryn Fisher delivers a pulse-pounding, fast-paced suspense novel that will leave you breathless. A thriller you won’t be able to put down!

Imagine that your husband has two other wives.

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.

But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.

Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you be willing to go to find out?

And who is his mysterious third wife?
This book. Holy moly, balls on a cracker. So I’ve never actually read anything by Tarryn before, even though I’ve been following her for years. This book. Wowzers. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and I’m so glad I went in blind! If you can do that, I highly recommend it! The main voice of the book is Thursday and we learn that her husband is with two other women. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why this woman would allow such a thing but my questions were slowly answered as I continued to read. Not that the actual reason was any better because if it were me, it would be a big fat nope. I don’t share. Lol! But I don’t want to give too much away because I really feel that you should go in with an open mind. There are so many secrets and twists and turns. Poor Thursday slowly unravels as the chapters go on. It will leave you wondering what’s actually real or not or if it’s all in your head much like main character herself. This definitely won’t be my last book that I read by Tarryn and I look forward to falling down yet another rabbit hole!

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

Oh yes. This book I was ready for and excited for!!  Lucien and Elaina!!  Whoop Whoop!!  I will say this book is listed as a stand alone but in my opinion, you need to read the whole series to fully love and appreciate this book.  But you can read it alone but trust me you will be mad and wanna kick your butt because this series is awesomeness!!  Just read the whole series, OK? OK!

Lucien…I have loved him so I was happy to finally get his story.  He has some dark secrets and then to find out his mate…ya know the love of his life is HER…and she is one of THOSE…ugh struggle bus time.  But dude is all about claiming his woman!!

Elaine is dying because how can the fates match her with him.  I mean he is hawt and the chemistry is awesome but ugggghhhhhhhh he is a vampire!!  She is not feeling it, buuuut she wants to feel it *wink*.  Crass yes I am aware. LOL

The couple have a lot to overcome like the fact they should not be matched together given the history of their kinds.  They also have this whole “what happens if” thing hanging over their heads.

I absolutely enjoy this series and many others by this author.  She does a great job bringing you in and leaving you hanging for the next book.  I cant wait for more and the world she brings alive each novel.

Award winning and bestselling author Valerie Twombly grew up watching Dark Shadows over her mother’s shoulder, and from there her love of the fanged creatures blossomed. Today, Valerie has decided to take her darker, sensual side and put it to paper.

When she is not busy creating a world full of steamy, hot men and strong, seductive women, she juggles her time between a full-time job, hubby and dog, in Northern IL.

Review by Twinsie Tenise

This was my first ‘best friends dad’ book. I was nervous going in, because, well it was new territory for me. Let me just say, I’m glad I gave this troupe a chance.

Cameron, with his smart mouth and need to please. Luke with his dominant nature.(Ummm, yes, please!) These 2 were kind of perfect for each other. Well, except for the pesky age gap and the fact that Cameron is Luke’s sons best friend. Ehh semantics.

I found myself rooting for these 2. Defending them in my head against anyone who questioned their “relationship”.
Reckless was a very good book with interesting plot twists. I’m looking forward to getting to know the next brother in Heartless, book 2 in the series.

Can you keep a secret?

I grew up sick.⁣

Let me clarify.⁣

I grew up believing that real love stories include a martyr or demand great sacrifice to be worthy.⁣

Because of that, I believed it, because I made myself believe it, and I bred the most masochistic of romantic hearts, which resulted in my illness.⁣

When I lived this story, my own twisted fairy tale, it was unbeknownst to me at the time because I was young and naïve. I gave into temptation and fed the beating beast, which grew thirstier with every slash, every strike, every blow.⁣

Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets.⁣

Secrets that cost us everything to keep.⁣

That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to.⁣

Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence due to my illness.⁣

And all were punished.

This trilogy is a gritty, modern day take on Robin Hood. It’s an unconventional love story—bad boys/antiheroes—filled with suspense, steam, major twists, a little action, and ALL OF THE FEELS.

Review by Twinsie Tenise

The Flock is the first book of 2021 that I would give more than 5 stars if I could. And it left me struggling to write a review worthy of the epic story I just read.

This book came highly recommend from a friend. I went in blind and couldn’t put it down. It consumed an entire Saturday,  I was determined to finish the book. Nothing was more important than the answers to all of the questions bouncing around in my head.

The ending left me with more questions than answers but I know that I will always remember this story. The plot is original and the characters were unforgettable. I had ALL THE FEELS while reading and cannot wait to dive into book 2, where I hopefully find the answers I seek.
