To Save Him teaser pic

Excerpt

There was a sadness about Brandon that touched my heart. I could sense that he had so much more to say, but the words couldn’t find a way out. Maybe he needed time, but there was also a chance that those words would be forever buried inside him.

“Brandon, I haven’t been a Christian woman since the day I learned of my son’s death, but it wouldn’t be very Christian or civil of me to turn you away after dark.” I took a deep breath and saw him mustering up an argument, but I began speaking again before he could protest. “Ordinarily, I’d have a guest stay in the extra bedroom, but—if you’d be okay with it—I’d imagine Gabriel would like to have you stay in his room. It’s…been unoccupied for a very long time.”

There was a long pause until JR clamored, “Please?

Brandon’s struggle was evident in his eyes but he said, “That’s very kind of you. I’d…appreciate it more than you know.”

His soul had spoken to me that night. It was the night I fell in love with Brandon Abbott.

Melinda's Review

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is a different kind of story from Jade that I was used to. This put the May-June plot in a new light. I was not sure about this one when I first started it but the end I did find there were parts I really enjoyed.

Kimberly Cooper recently lost her son who was serving in the military. While she was still taking care of her other kids she was still morning her late son. She was not able to move on. Then Brandon Abbott showed up on her door step.

Brandon stated he was friends with Kimberly’s deceased son while in the military. Kimberly was having feelings for this your man that she didn’t think she should. However, she gave in and allowed her heart to lead the way. Then her brain caught up and she started questioning if Brandon was who he said he was and if her and her children were safe with Brandon being there. When she started digging Brandon and Kimberly found themselves in a situation where she had to figure out whom she trusted more strangers or Brandon.

When I thought I was going to have an issue with something I kept reading and realized it either helped Kim or Brandon or it helped Brandon remember something new so I didn’t have an issue with it after all thank you Jade C. Jamison for pushing me out of my comfort zone and try something new for me.

About the Author

Jade

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today—sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales—but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life. While she doesn’t confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

AHH Time Travel plus Historical…yes please!!  Then throw in a pirate annnnd I was a giggle factory!!

SO Lady Evelyn is on a hot, God forsaken island with her father when she gets word she has to go back to England for her wedding…SHEW!!  She is happy to finally get the heck outta the hot tropics for “civilized life” when the ship she is sailing on is boarded by pirates.  Well Captain Jack Morgan (Yup that guy) decides he is going to keep Lady Evelyn and hope to make her is mistress…..now all of this is happening in 1722 while our Hero, Paul’s, story is happening in 1987.

Paul works.  Paul works tooo much when he is forced to take a vacation to help his health. He vacations on a God-forsaken island.  He takes a stroll but gets caught up in a storm when he sees a beautiful woman on the beach. They both run for cover and soon realize that something wonky has happened.  He has some how manage to slip back in time.

The couple fall in love and have to find way to 1987 or figure out what to do in 1722.  The epilogue is a great set up for the other books in the series. Book 2 is their oldest daughter Alys and book 3 is the other daughter Regina!!  I read this series out of order completely and didn’t find it confused me at all.  I read book 3 before book 1 nd m jumping into bok 2 now…LOL  so I would say these are total stand alones.

Growing up she was the only girl out of six children. She is a single mother of two teenage boys; there is never a dull moment in her life. Reading books is her favorite hobby. While she loves all genres she focuses most of her writing on historical and contemporary romance.

There are always stories inside her head; she just never thought she could make them come to life. That creativity has finally found an outlet.

excerpt

At the rustle of a key turning in the lock, she let go of the map and turned in the chair to face the entrance. The door swung open and Jasper stared at her. She fought the urge to look away but, instead, met his gaze. It would not kill her to be amiable. Perchance it may even benefit her. “Thank you for sending me the change of clothes.”

“The ship’s gunner will mend your gown so you have it when you depart.”

“That is not necessary. Discard it.” She smiled at the surprise her words ignited in his ice blue eyes. Had he expected her to be vexed over her new wardrobe?

“As you wish.” He leaned his hip on the edge of the desk.

“Can you tell me where we are exactly?” She pointed to America on the map. “I would like to know how far I am from home.”

He glanced from her to the document. “You know how to read maps?”

“I am an educated woman, Captain.”

He chuckled. “I do not doubt it, and, as I told you previously, you have leave to call me Jasper when we’re alone.” A mild irritation laced his voice.

She nodded but had no intention of ever using his given name. The act was far too intimate. He was a pirate for God’s sake. She had no desire to befriend him. Pirates murdered her father and Louisa. She traced the puckered scar on his cheek with her gaze. Had he received any new injuries saving her?

Captain Blackmore murdered the pirates who captured her—avenged her father and rescued her. He risked his life in battle. Still, she could not allow herself to see him as more than the enemy, not even if she wished to.

“It has been my experience that women generally do not read maps. Who taught you?” He opened a drawer and retrieved a bottle of amber-colored liquid along with two glasses.

She watched as he poured some into a glass all the while attempting to decide whether she should answer his question. It would not do for a pirate to know she was a wealthy shipping company owner. She certainly could not allow him to discover that her company was without protection. He must not learn of her father’s death. If he did her company would be vulnerable to him and his crew.

Jasper offered her a glass. “Thirsty?”

“No.” She held up a hand in protest. “Thank you.”

He pressed the glass into her hand anyway. “Have a little. After the day you’ve had, I am sure you are parched. Besides, spirits are good for drowning one’s sorrows.”

She accepted and took a small sip. The liquor burned down her throat but she did not choke on it. “What is it?”

“Brandy. Have you never drank it before?”

“No. I have had watered down wine and champagne on occasion, but Papa never allowed me liquor. It is not proper for a lady to imbibe in stronger drinks, but then I do not suppose a pirate would care about propriety.” Emboldened, she took another sip before setting the glass aside. “Now answer my question. Where are we?”

Bear shifters exist.

Professor Bria Lane has known this since she was a child.  Now she’s returned to he forests of Deep Creek to prove it to the worlds.  She has no idea how close she is to that proof in ruggedly sexy park ranger Derek Poole.  Intimately close. Like a magnet meeting metal, Derek is drawn to Bria.  His destiny. His mate. So beautiful and so vulnerable. So dangerous, too: an encroachment of lions, vengeful and vicious, is closing in and they’re ready for war.  Now is not the time to be distracted like a lovesick cub.

If Bria reveals the truth of the Deep Creek shifters to the world, she’ll bring out the worst of both sides.  But Derek can’t hide his secrets from the love of his life forever.  He knows they’re playing with fire – and that when passion runs this hot, this reckless, someone’s bound to get burned.

“What an ursus…umm…whatever you said? I’ve always worked with my hands—I never was a college guy. Didn’t have the patience to sit still in the classroom.” Derek kicked at the ground then looked up.

“No worries.” She snapped her attention back to what he was saying. “Most people don’t know what an ursinologist is—it’s someone who studies bears.”

“Bears, huh?” He shook his head and laughed. “You study bears?”

“What’s so funny?” She crossed her arms. “It’s a valid profession. And I’m doing what I love.”

“Nothing wrong with it, Bria.” He stepped so close to her she had to look up to meet his gaze, and held his hands up in mock surrender. “I think it’s a fine profession, I’ve just never heard of it. It’s a totally new job that I’ve never heard of. Yet here you are in the woods with me, so I guess we aren’t that far apart, career-wise.”

Derek was in her space and even though they weren’t touching, she felt his presence touching hers, like a low-level energy buzzing in the evening air, crackling when hers met his. One step closer and she could pull that hair band out and hop into his arms, straddling him as she kissed him. She shook her head to clear her naughty thoughts. Ugh. Stop. The thoughts about what she’d like to do to the hot park ranger needed to stop. Maybe she’d been out in the sun too long. Normally she didn’t ogle guys. In fact, she couldn’t remember the last time she had. She cleared her throat and took a step back. “I thought you were laughing at me.”

“No. I didn’t know there was a name for someone who studies bears. Plus, the word sounds kinda funny.” He scanned the forest, thumbs in his belt loops. “I guess you’re in the right place to look for bears, though. Especially this deep in the forest. Lots of them live in Deep Creek. They’re everywhere. Probably closer than you think.”

“I hope so.” Her shoulders lowered and she blew out a breath. “Have you seen any this season? I know they are more active in summer. After they’ve woken from hibernation.”

“I see them every day. I’m out in the woods a lot.” He chewed his lip. “They really only partially hibernate, though. But yeah, I guess you could say I’ve seen a lot of bears here in Deep Creek.”

He’d seen bears. Recently. Her pulse thumped in her neck and she leaned forward, as if being near him would make the bears closer. Excitement rang in her ears. “Where? Can you show me, or at least give me some pointers where to look? I can’t wait to see them.”

“My best advice is to keep your eyes open. You never know when a bear will appear right in front of you.”

Must Love Lions (A Shifter Date Paranormal Romance)

synopsis

Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she’s great at her job as a journalist, but it’s never given her the time to find the right man–specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he’s created, she can’t believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don’t date.

Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the dating app, Shifter, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild.

When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can’t say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can’t resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back.

I received a book from the author for an honest review.

I lurves me some shifters and Lions…Yup don’t think I have read one yet….so this was a definite read for me when the opportunity presented itself.

I loved the unique storyline in the novel.  Alpha Lion Max created a dating app…think Tinder meets Match….to help Shifters and humans find love.  WELLLLLL, not everyone human and shifter is down with the interspecies mingling that is for sure.

Alexis must write an article for her blog about the app.  She goes in wanting to write a paper destroying this app but soon finds herself attracted to the man…shifter…Lion????

The couple have a lot to deal with as far a rogue group of shifters wanting to put a stop to the mingling, his family not approving of him spending time with a human and much more.  The story was good and I was engaged throughout the entire book.  There were parts that seemed a little bit choppy and didn’t flow very well but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book.  I am excited to jump into book 2 and will as soon as I aa finished with the review.

I will say I enjoyed the ending of the book nd playing on the “shifter app” that we read about in the book…super cute and fun idea J

synopsis

The rules of (fake) engagement . . .
Leah Martin has spent her life trying to avoid temptation. But she’s sick of low-fat snacks, counting calories, and her hyper-critical mom. Fortunately, her popular new bakery keeps her good and distracted. But there aren’t enough éclairs in the world to distract Leah from the hotness that is Sam Cooper – or the fact that he just told her mother that they’re engaged . . . which is a big, fat lie.

Sam sometime speaks before he thinks. So what started out as defending Leah’s date-ability to her judgmental mother soon turned into having a fiancee! Now the plan is to keep up the fake engagement, stay “just friends,” and make Leah’s family loathe him enough to just call the whole thing off . But Sam has an insatiable sweet tooth, not only for Leah’s decadent desserts but her decadent curves. Her full lips. Her bright green eyes. Yep, things aren’t going quite according to plan. Now Sam has to convince Leah that he’s for real . . . before their little lie turns into one big, sweet disaster.

angies review

I received a paperback ARC for an honest review.  Do you know how hard it is to read a paperback and not crease the bindings??  TOUGH I TELL YA!!  But I did it!!!!

When I saw what the book was about, I was excited.  I have read several books by this author so I knew it was gonna crack me up because her books are full of comedy.  This book did not disappoint and totally had me laughing out loud over the holiday weekend!!

Leah isn’t a size negative 2.  She is a curvy girl who loves herself…kinda…..she loves herself but knows how the outside world, her mom and her ex’s view her – overweight.  When she sees Sam at a bar she is tongue tied when he approaches her but is quickly dismissed by him for small anorexic Barbie.

Sam is over woman…especially crazy ones.  When his friend Max begs him to be a wingman to the curvy bombshell he does so.  He is stunned at his draw to Leah but is a total dick to her because he cannot get sucked into another crazy relationship.

When Sam pushes himself into Leah’s life trying to be a nice guy he soon over steps and pronounces himself to be her fiancée to her mom of all people!!  OOPSIE SAM!!  Well Leah is a mess.  What is she going to do?  Well Sam decides on a plan to make her family hate him. This will force her to dump him…it could work right??  WELL NOPE Seems Leah and Sam start to fall in love but are both getting in each other’s way over it.  Sam won’t admit he cares for Leah.  Not because of her size but just relationship fear over all.  Leah is so in love with Sam but thinks he only thinks of her as a friend because of his hot and cold behavior due to her size

I loved this book and loved the flawed characters.  Leah is so me!!  I mean I felt her insecurities 110%.  Sam is so my husband.  He says the perfect stuff and the not so perfects tuff at the right and wrong times…LOL so that is prolly why I loved his character so much!

about the author

She grew up on a small island off the Texas Gulf Coast, where most of her childhood vacations consisted of camping or hunting trips to the deer lease. Although she’ll always be a Texan at heart, Alison currently resides in the Midwest with her Iowa farm-boy husband and their two sons. With so much testosterone in her home, it’s no wonder she writes “girl books.”

She’s an animal lover, a closet video game enthusiast, and believes the best way to know if someone is your soul mate is by canoeing with them because if you both make it back alive, it’s obviously meant to be. Alison’s an avid romance reader who enjoys penning the type of books she loves to read most: fun, steamy love stories with heart, heat, laughter, and usually a cowboy or two. As she calls it, “Romance…with a sense of humor.”

Five years ago, we’d been together and on fire, but the flames
burned us both. Now she’s back in my life and is all my wildest fantasies in the flesh.
I want her. The desire is too powerful to argue against, but I’m not interested in what we had.
This is an arrangement about pleasure and finding out who we are behind closed doors. There
won’t be talk of love or any sweet nothings whispered by either of us.
This time, I’ll control the heat between us and make sure neither of our hearts get too close to the flames.

EXCERPT:

I grasped Ruby’s hips and dropped a final kiss on her mouth. “Turn around,” I said, using the most seductive voice I had. “Finish what you were doing.”
She rotated slowly in my hold until her back was to me. Then she picked up the sifter with one hand, and turned the crank on the side with her other. Perfect. I skated my fingers along the waistline of her jeans, moving steadily toward the front, putting my arms around her.
Her voice was all-knowing. “What are you doing?”
“Don’t worry about it.” I popped the button free at the top of her fly, and nuzzled my way into he crook of her neck. The loose hairs that had slipped out of her ponytail tickled my nose. She shivered when my mouth connected with her soft skin. Did she smell like vanilla because of her baking, or because she was just fucking delicious?
“Oh,” she sighed, and the sifter slowed to a distracted crawl.
I nibbled the curve of her neck while inching down her zipper. My voice was sinful. “We haven’t even gotten to the good part yet, and you’re already losing focus.”
The crank resumed its noisy turning, but she tilted her head to the side, granting me more access to feast on her neck. Every little shudder and sigh she gave was so fucking sexy. I wanted
to devour her.
When her task appeared to be done, I slid my hand down the front of her undone jeans and eased my fingers inside her panties. Jesus, she was wet already, and my cock hardened. I pressed it against the flat of her ass, letting her feel what she did to me.
“Oh, God,” she jerked when I twitched my fingers. The metal sifter clattered on the counter so she could brace herself with her hands. I sucked hard on her neck, not caring if I gave her a
hickey like I was a goddamn teenage boy. I wasn’t above marking her as mine. That was what she’d be after tonight. I was already hooked
on her, so it only seemed fair.
Her hands gripped the counter’s edge so furiously, they went white as I traced my fingers over
her damp clit. Her head tilted and lolled backward until it was heavy on my shoulder. Ruby’s eyes were closed and her mouth open so she could suck in labored breaths.
“What’s next?” I asked. “You need to add the flour to the eggs?”
She nodded, not even opening her eyes, although she made a face. Like my question was annoying and had disturbed her contentment.
“Then get to it.” I withdrew my hand and gripped the sides of her jeans and panties. I jerked hem down her long legs, revealing her beautiful, creamy skin.
We were right beside the mixer and it meant she didn’t have to walk anywhere, which was good. Her jeans and underwear were wadded around her ankles. She looked amazing like this. The long sweater stopped just where her cheeks did, and it teased me with flashes of the bottom of her ass whenever she moved.
I grabbed the oven mitts I’d thrown off, put them on the floor behind her, and knelt on them, giving me a much better view of her perfect ass.
There was noise from the counter above. She’d pulled a clean rubber spatula from the dish rack and, in her haste, she’d nearly dumped the whole thing over. I fanned my hands around the globes of her bottom and squeezed, causing her to jolt once again.
She was so cute. Flustered and sexy, but she was standing up straight. “Bend over a little. I need to see that pussy, sweetheart.”
Whoa.
A rush of memories came flooding back. When we’d been together, I’d called her sweetheart occasionally. It slipped out now before I could stop it. A habit that wouldn’t die, or something more? She followed my command, leaning over, and it caused the
sweater to lift and expose more of her nakedness.
She was all pink, and lush, and mine.
“Oh, fuck.” She gasped the words as I bent forward and buried my face in the seam of her legs.
“Kyle. I can’t do anything when you’re doing that.”
“You can, and you will. Finish,” I gave her a playful bite on a cheek, “or you don’t get to.”
She groaned, both in satisfaction and frustration as I resumed teasing her with my tongue. She tasted so good. Sweet. Perfect. A taste I couldn’t get enough of.

angies review

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

EEEP!!  Jay and Angel!!  In Stain we can see there is some strain to our couple but since the book was Asher and Meeka we didn’t get to know why?  Well this novella dives right into the couple and we discover A LOT about Jay we didn’t know before.  We get to see the stress and anxiety she is under all because of “Love”.  She has loved 2 men in her life….Tyler and Angel.  They can’t be more different in how they treat and care for Jay.  The comparison she does internally is messing with her mind.

Jay is also a hot mess over her perceived betrayal by Meeka, one of her trusted MC girls PLUS the damage that Vega did to her when she was taken.

This is a quick but deep look at the couple.  They have a lot of trauma to overcome and then deal with some exciting news for the future of the club and them!!

Melinda's Review

I received this book for an honest review.

This is a great addition to the King’s Harlots Series. While reading Stain we see a strain between Jay and Angel but never know what caused it. Well this book answers all those questions.

Jay is having a hard time forgiving Meeka and also trying to deal with her past demons. She is still trying to deal with what happened with Vega but what is really holding her back is comparing what she had with her ex, Tyler, and what she has with Angel. She loves Angel but will all of that in her head it is causing a strain between her and Angel. will she be able to overcome her past and move forward with Angel or will she run?

Angel as always refuses to let Jay lip away from him. he has a way of pulling her out of her darkness and into the light. however, can he pull her out of this darkness? Can Angel help her heal and get back to the Jay we knew and love.

I liked getting more of Jay and Angel. It was eyeopening to see into Jay’s past how hard it is for her to get over what she has been through. I was frustrated at her when dealing with Meeka. I enjoyed the surprise toward the end. I cannot wait for the next one to see how the King’s Harlots deal with things that are coming their way.
