#WOTR19 #ReleaseDay #Paranormal #Wolves #AuthorInterview- See Me by M. Jayne

See Me (The Novus Pack Series Book 1) by [Jayne, M.]

Throughout history, The Lady, Goddess of the Lycan world, has gifted werewolf packs with humans who carry her mark. Theodora Morrissey’s plans to return to college for her graduate degree are ended when she is awakened by an otherworldly voice on a rarely used airstrip in Nebraska. Injured and disoriented, she has no idea the discoloration on her back has marked her as a Seer, and that she is now a possession—and the prisoner—of the Novus Pack of Lycans.

To the Novus pack, the word of their leader, their Laird, is the law. With compelling gray eyes and long dark hair, Raider Black rules his pack with intelligence and ruthlessness. To cement the security of his pack, Black has committed to mate another Packleader’s daughter. But he’s finding it impossible to fight his attraction to the pack’s alluring new Seer, claiming her as his own.

Sweet, fearless, and unintentionally funny, Theo upends Black’s world and pushes the boundaries of his rules. How far is Black willing to go, and what will he sacrifice, to save both his pack and the human Seer who’s found a way not only into his bed, but his heart?

Q & A with M. Jayne

Hello to My Friends at Twinsie Talk,

Thank you for inviting me to share…and chat…and ramble.

I’m M. Jayne/Melanie Jayne. As M. Jayne I am releasing my first paranormal romance and as Melanie Jayne I have three contemporary romance series featuring characters over the age of thirty-five.

See Me is the first book in the Novus Pack Series and it took over five years to write. The first two attempts were terrible, but on my third try I found my rhythm. In my Lycan world, a human woman is dumped on the Novus Pack’s land. She is saved when they discover she carries the mark of their goddess. See Me tells how Theodora acclimates to this new world and her feelings for the enigmatic leader, Raider Black.

Are you a pantser or a plotter?

Plotter. The first outline for this book was over sixty pages with character descriptions, snippets of dialogue, songs, and fashion ideas. Over time things were added and deleted (so much deleting), but the basic story stayed the same. I knew this world and the main storyline from the start.

Who is another author you always recommend to readers?

I can’t name just one! That is impossible. I cut it down to SIX.  I can do Six.  **These are my picks for today and in no particular order

  • Skye Warren for those with a taste for Dark. Prisoner written with Annika Martin is haunting.
  • Damon Suede’s Hothead is a fantastic, hot, sexy romance. Whether you read m/m or not, read this book for the story!
  • Penny Reid. I love, love, love the Winston Brothers Series. Funny, sweet, and at times I did ugly cry.
  • Kristen Ashley. The Rock Chick Series. I am a Rock Chick, like the author I was raised in central Indiana. I re-read this series every year and I still play my music loud.
  • H. Cosway. I never know what to expect from this author. Each book is original and very interesting. Different characters and outcomes…she makes me think.
  • Patricia Briggs. The Alpha and Omega Series. Huge impact on my writing. I think that Charles is one of the sexiest men in fiction. Anna is growing and changing which I applaud because I know how difficult it is to allow a character to grow over the course of a series.

What is your favorite part of creating a new book/series?

My stories come to me complete, either in a dream, while I’m mowing, or driving. So once I have the idea, I think about the visuals:  The clothes, the office or homes, the colors. In High School I was told that I was a “visual thinker” and that has proved to be true. I “see” the scenes.

The most fulfilling part of creating for me is when I’m writing and the pieces fall together. When the motivations or psychology of my character makes sense without a long explanation or I have to create a scene where it is explained. The backstory usually grows as the story comes to life on the page so I start with a feeling and the rest fills itself in as I type.

But as old deceptions turn into new desires, will they be willing to sacrifice everything they hold dear in order to protect the people they love?

Q&A with Anna Harrington

(HOW THE EARL ENTICES)

◦How would you describe your books to new readers?

I write Regency era romances with a progressive and modern feel to them. My characters talk in rhythms of modern American English, which I think makes the books more enjoyable for readers who are used to that same internal voice in their heads when they read, and the conflicts they face are those which people might encounter during any time period—guilt over a parent’s death, fear of falling in love, a willingness to do anything to protect a child. My heroes are alpha but wounded, and my heroines are strong, independent, and outgoing women who all have the Regency era equivalent to careers and interests outside of society events and capturing a husband. But while my books are progressive, they are still firmly grounded in history, with all the wonderful facets of the era that make historicals so much fun to write and read.

◦Who are some of your favorite Go-To authors?

Anna Bradley, Kelly Bowen, Lisa Kleypas, Suzanne Enoch…too many to list! But I also love discovering new authors.

◦Pantser or Plotter?

Definitely more plotter than pantser! I always start with a 20 page outline of the plot so that I don’t write myself into a corner with the conflict, run out of conflict after 50 pages, or write 95K words, only to be nowhere near the resolution. But each scene is pantsed, which keeps that feeling of spontaneity. Sometimes the characters will decide to take the plot into a completely new direction. When that happens, I let them, but then I also go back and update my long outline so that at least one of us knows where the story is headed! LOL!

◦What are some must-have foods or drinks you need on hand when you are finishing up your books?

Coffee!! My books are written by Starbucks and Folgers. ☺ But once I get near the end, I often switch to a glass of wine. Sipping wine from a glass forces me to slow down and not rush the last scene. It also makes for a pleasant way to celebrate when the first draft is finally done.

◦What are you working on next?

I’m currently finishing edits for book 5 in the Capturing the Carlisles series, WHAT A LORD WANTS. Evelyn Winslow finally gets her own romance—and her marquess. The book is about the double life being led by Dominick Mercer, Marquess of Ellsworth, who is England’s most respected peer by day and notorious Italian painter Domenico Vincenzo by night. When Evelyn accidentally stumbles into his studio and is mistaken for his new model, the adventure is simply too great for her to deny herself. But soon she’s discovered, and the only man who can save her reputation is the same one who ruined it. Its release is scheduled for March.

#Review – It seemed like a good idea at the time by Kylie Scott

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time

Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete had been left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings.

Sometimes first loves are the truest.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

So I know people are calling this a taboo relationship and I guess maybe 15 years older is Taboo but our heroine is 18 years old soooo I didn’t see much wrong there.  I thought the taboo element was making a pass at your dads business associate…LOL  now THAT is a bit of a bad decision!!  The heart wants what the heart wants thought right???  ANND Adele wants Pete.

After Adele’s little slip up, we see her 7 years later and at her dad’s wedding.  FYI her dad was a scream.  He was so funny as was his new bride.  Great secondary characters for the story.    The complex relationship between Adele and Pete is explained in current and flashback scenes.  We see Pete dragging his feet at being with Adele at the same time wanting to be with her.  I seriously wanted to throat punch him a time or two.  The characters are so in their own heads that they are what cause so much heart ache and despair for themselves.

The story was well written and made you hurt for them both while also wanting to slap them upside the heads .

#NewRelease #Shifter #Excerpt #AuthorInterview- CLAIMING HIS LIONESS by Kerry Adrienne

Now it’s up to them, side by side, to bring together three warring shifter clans, win the final fight and save Deep Creek.

 Kerry Adrienne Interview

  1. What’s the hardest part of the writing process.

The hardest part of the writing process for me is staying off social media. It’s such a (fun) distraction and I have a hard time staying away when it is time to work. I want to see ALL the cat photos! As for the writing part itself, the most difficult thing for me is writing chapter one. Getting a book started is always so difficult and I want to edit and polish and re-do chapter one until I think it’s capturing what I want—then I re-do it again. I don’t know why it’s a problem, but I know I could write better if I could just let chapter one go sometimes!!

  1. Are you a pantser or a plotter?

I am definitely a plotter. I like detailed outlines—chapter by chapter. Of course, things always happen to take me off outline when I’m writing, but that is okay. The main plot usually stays mostly the same as I outlined—or may have a twist I didn’t see coming. Since I usually have themes in mind, it’s easier to have a plot so I can make sure I remember what I was planning to say!

  1. Who is someone you always read? Or favorite genre?

I love a lot of the older science fiction authors like Bradbury, Clarke, and Heinlein. I also really like Steinbeck and re-read a couple of his books over and over. Genre-wise, I love books that have deep world-building where I can escape into another time/place. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Grapes of Wrath—all such rich worlds and so well imagined by the authors. When you put characters into worlds that are so alive—it’s fun to see them grow and change.

One, two, three, four…

A deep breath, and the world didn’t seem quite as red. Another breath. Don’t let him get to you.

“Women have roles and men have roles.” Mason cleared his throat then narrowed his eyes. “Not better or worse. Different.”

“This isn’t the Middle Ages.” Her voice was calm. Soft but firm.

“I know. Women have babies. Men fight.”

“Wow, seriously? Women have babies and fight. You saw how much help the lionesses were at the cave. We’d have lost a lot more lions if we hadn’t been there…to fight. We weren’t there to nurse cubs.” He was getting to her. She kicked at the leaves on the ground.

Only an hour or so till dark. The faint strains of sunset were already slanting through the trees, painting an orange glow to the surroundings, and the forest sounds were shifting to nocturnal melodies.

“You helped a lot and I appreciate that. My point is, why not let the men take care of you now? We aren’t in desperate need of your help like we were at the cave, so why not let us protect you?”

He really didn’t get it. Lara started to speak but paused. What could she say to make him understand? Did he really think women had roles that were so defined, they couldn’t do other things too? Or did he feel that it was his role to make sure women were safe and secure?

Regardless, it was obnoxious. And a prime example of how tall, dark and dangerous wasn’t enough.

“It’s noble of you to want to protect the women.” She chewed the inside of her cheek, trying to maintain her calm and phrase things in a nonconfrontational way. No point in having him dismiss her thoughts because he felt intimidated. “But you don’t need to protect us unless we ask you to. We can protect ourselves. You should accept the help or you’re going to have a lot of pissed-off lionesses. Trust me, you don’t want that.”

Mason looked deeper into the forest, his shoulders bunched with tension. His back, broad and sloping to a muscular ass, filled his black T-shirt perfectly. Wrestling with him wasn’t so bad, was it? In other circumstances, it could be a lot of fun.

She might even win.

She fought the urge to run her hand over his shoulders to comfort him and satisfy her craving. Yank his T-shirt off and press herself against those muscles. They were definitely hard. She’d felt them when he lay across her on the ground.

No. She shook her head.

Mason was off-limits.

#CoverReveal – Reckless Miles by Claire Kingsley

Reckless Miles by Claire Kingsley

Cover Design: Pink Ink Designs

Release Date: September 21, 2018

“I love being naked. Naked is awesome.” ~Cooper Miles

Life used to be an endless party. I worked hard and played harder (as often as possible). But things change—people change—and lately the party life isn’t doing it for me.

Enter Amelia. It isn’t every day that you meet a girl in a wedding dress in a bar. A girl whose life just took a sharp left turn she wasn’t expecting.

Kissing her? It’s no big deal—totally just for fun. She’s had one hell of a day, and a little kissing lesson by Cooper is bound to make her feel better. Getting in a little dig at the dumbass who left her at the altar is a bonus.

The invitation back to her hotel? That, I wasn’t expecting.

Saying yes to her is reckless. Not because I’m a stranger to a one-night-stand. And not because she’s in a wedding dress, and the words this is my first time cross her lips.

Saying yes to Amelia is reckless because she’s making me feel things I’ve never felt before—big things. Nothing scares me. But this girl? She might be magic, and I have no idea what to do with that.

She’s all alone in the darkness.

He’s lighting up the stage.

But not even the brightest spotlight can reach the shadows of a broken soul.

Declan
Every wanna-be rocker dreams of the day when crazed fans will pack their shows. But the more people worship me as some kind of musical god, the more I realize why singers are called “performers.” I’m just a pretender. A fake.
I need something real. Something to break through the revolting glamour that’s bled into every part of my life. And for one perfect night, I found that in Sara.
Then she ran.
Sara
No sane woman would’ve ever walked away from Declan Hollis after only one night. But
walking away from him was the safest move for both of us.
I’ve spent so much time burying my old self in the past, trying to erase the vulnerable person I used to be. I’m smarter now—men are dangerous, and relationships are doubly so.
But the more time I spend away from him, the more I want to go back.
I may end up shattered all over again. Or maybe, just maybe, he’ll be the one to help me pick up the pieces.

“We should stop,” I said in the brief time it took for our mouths to separate, reposition, and dive right back into each other. “Declan, we need to stop.”

“Do we? Do we really?”

“Yeah.” I squeezed my eyes shut tight, trying to focus, to break out of the hold he had on me. Both internally and externally. “I need an intermission.”

He pulled back but didn’t let go of me. “Do I have to let go of you entirely? I really don’t want to.”

“Um…it would probably be easier for me to think if you did.”

“You scare me a little when you think.” He let out a big sigh, then inhaled deeply. “Especially because I have this awful feeling that you’re about to say that it’s nothing personal, but this isn’t going to work out.”

“Wow,” I said, unhappy he was right. “You’re good.”

“No. Good is what I think we could be. Together.” He paused, studying my face, his gaze moving from the eyes I’d just opened to the lips his had just released. “You’re serious. Fuck, of course, you’re serious.”

“Sorry.” I was trying to be smart and not get hurt, and the universe dropped him into my path. A test of strength I wasn’t sure I was up to.

“Don’t be sorry. Be…” He briefly dropped his head forward and then looked up again. “Before you tell me to go away, can I have a minute to make my case?”

“It’s not going to change anything.” Ugh. I’d never heard anything said with as much regret.

“Come on… I deserve one measly minute, don’t I?” He looked so sincere…and kind of needy. A big, beautiful man needed me. Not that I’d never seen need on a man’s face before, but everything about Declan was different. Not only did he want to sleep with me, he wanted to talk to me, too. Part of me actually thought he might still want to talk to me even if he were one hundred percent sure he’d never get to sleep with me again. That
was definitely something I never thought I’d see.

“Only if you step back at least a foot.”

“A foot?” Even in the dark, his eyes shone with life and a little humor. “Is that at all negotiable?”

I grumbled under my breath. “Fine. Stay…six inches away.”“If you really don’t want any part of me to touch you, there needs to be more than six inches between us,” he said, adjusting the erection stretching the front of his jeans.

I raised an eyebrow and put my hands on his chest. “Well, aren’t you cocky.”

“Yep. And, for the record? I’

m a good inch, inch-and-a-half cockier than six inches.”

“Huh. Are you sure about that?” I teased. He didn’t need to know I thought he was selling himself short at seven and a half inches.

“Damn, woman.” Running a hand through his hair, he chuckled. “Are you this hard on everyone’s ego?”

“Just yours.” I pressed my lips together to stop myself from laughing. “I guess that means you’re lucky.”

“Not unless you let me kiss you again, I’m not.”

Lauren Stewart grew up reading Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, James Clavell, Piers Anthony, and Agatha Christie, which explains why she can’t seem to stick to one genre at a time.
She got to the more romantic stuff pretty late, but paranormal romance was what changed her from an obsessed reader into an obsessed reader and writer. Her writing style comes from a mash-up of all her early favorites and her new ones, women like JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Alice Clayton, Emma Scott, and Janet Evanovich. Wow, how much would you pay to be invited to that dinner party?

Lauren wants to make people think, cry, and giggle, not necessarily all at the same time (although it’s great when it happens). In every one of her books, you’ll find elements of other genres – fantasy, mystery, romance, paranormal, suspense, YA, women’s literature, all with a touch of humor.

Because what doesn’t kill us should make us laugh.

In a world where I had no say, violence became my refuge, and nothing else mattered.
Not even my own life.
Until her.
Skyler Bell.
It all started the first time I heard that voice. Giving me hope for tomorrow. My first love was everything all at once.
Consuming.
Maddening.
Forever.
Mine.
Except, I never imagined there were secrets that needed to be shared. Lies that needed to be confessed. Truths that needed to be told.
Demons that needed to be buried.
Once I realized the depth, the longing, the sadness and sorrow in her eyes mirrored mine, it was too late. Love didn’t come to me as heartbreak, it came as everything I’ve ever wanted. Walking away wasn’t an option, but it was the only choice I had.

I finally found the price of love and it cost me…
My soul.

My body molded perfectly against his like I was
made just for him, only him. It was the most overwhelming, mind blowing,
consuming feeling I’d ever felt in my entire life. There would be no coming
back from this.
From him.
From us.
Ruining me for any other guy. He slowly parted his lips, beckoning me to do the
same. I followed his lead, imitating the same rhythm he set. His tongue traced
my swollen lips, and it left the craziest sensation in its wake. A tingly fire
that only he could put out. I’d never be able to lick my lips and not think of
this very moment. It would be lodged next to my heart where he belonged.
I pulled back my tongue, and he took it as an open invitation to gently push
his into my awaiting mouth. Seeking mine out, turning this kiss into something
more than I could have ever imagined it could be.
No words came close to describing what was happening between us. The feelings
he stirred deep within my mind, my soul, matching my emotions with each stroke
of his tongue and lips. This push and pull was as uncontrollable as where fate
wanted to take us. I never wanted him to stop kissing me.
Not for a second.
A year.
A lifetime.
Noah’s lips were meant to be on mine. My body was meant to be beneath his. Our
hearts were meant to be together.
I was his girl.
I had always been his girl.

How I stayed with him for all those years, I will never understand, but love is a twisted motherfucker. Jackson is the master of mindfuckery, and I let him convince me that I was nobody without him. Nobody would ever want me or love me. Except Jackson. Therefore, he became my everything. I was convinced I had no other choice in life.
After a few months apart, the asshole is still trying to control my life. The only way I see out of this mess is to move away, or he’s always going to have a hold on me. I can’t let him continue to have that kind of control. I know it won’t solve everything, or erase the memories, but a change couldn’t hurt any more than staying. Here’s to daydreaming, or the search for something better. Anything besides the hell I’m currently drowning in.
It wasn’t always like this. I was head-over-heels in love with a man who owned my heart. He treated me like a goddess until drugs and other women became more important to him. I became his fake front, the frame for the picture-perfect normal life he pretended to have, to the eyes of onlookers. He was good at making false appearances and keeping them up for those he needed something from. He’s a looker and a charmer, always using it to his advantages. I know that better than anyone, because I fell for it time and time again.
You never truly know someone until you’ve lived with them, seen the changes that occur over time, and the power that enables people to do your bidding. Don’t get me wrong; not all men are douchebags. I just seem to attract them like a fucking magnet.
Once the verbal, sexual and physical abuse started, I became a shell of the woman that I remember. Excuse after excuse kept me hanging on, believing that one day I’d get the man I fell in love with back. Abuse is like that – they make you believe it’s your fault. You try your hardest to please that person, but fail miserably every time, leaving you with self-doubt, wondering what your purpose in life really is. You can never do right, because it’s never going to be enough. You will never be enough.

No one sets out in life to hit rock bottom.

I found the man I loved, got married, and that was all I got. It went south so fast  I never saw the bottom coming, until I was face first in the darkness with the devil himself.

I became a spiraling tornado of chaos. Love, lies, and drugs. It twisted around me, as did his arms. Nothing was the same, nothing will ever be the same…

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I have seen Jordyn at many book signings and this was the first time I got to have a long chat with her.  She is as sweet as can be.  When she offered me a copy of any one of her books I was drawn to this one because it has a paranormal/fantasy feel to it.  The blurb talking about Goddesses has me sold!!

The book starts out with Katrina being killed by her not so great love, Thomas.  Needless to say, as she is dying she is mad as all get out.  Her anger draws the attention of three goddesses who promised her revenge on Thomas.  Now because she is so mad she doesn’t really get what she is promising them in return of getting back at Thomas.

The goddesses return her to seek her revenge when she meets and falls head over heels in love with Mitch.  Mitch is a pretty nice guy who is a bit on the passive side in comparison to Thomas.

Their relationship helps to mold Mitch in to a different man when the story is over.

I liked the story but found the conversations to be a bit stiff and awkward.  It was a bit to formal at times when the lovers were talking to each other.    Another issue I had was the use of some of the descriptive words.  I felt like there was a thesaurus right by the author and she would grab large descriptive words to try and enhance the story.

This was my first book by this author.  I really enjoyed the premise of the goddesses ad the revenge idea.   I am so glad I finally was able to read something of hers after all these years of seeing her and knowing her!!

Once living under the guise of a passive, quiet, school librarian, books and kids were the passions which kept Jordyn’s mind fresh. But now it is when the night muses visit, her spirit rises up to wrap around the stories that float in her head. Land locked in the mid-west she dreams of days on a white sandy beach with a laptop to write all her tales. Crossing many genres she spins chronicles of romance, paranormal and fantasy, for they are stories worth telling, even at the risk of revealing true feelings.
