Taming the Lion (Shifter Wars)

Pack bonds are tested in the Shifter Wars as the lion heir must choose between his legacy and his mate

For Marco, heir to the lions’ throne, seizing control of the Cave of Whispers from the bear clan is more than just a quest—it’s fulfilling the legacy of his breed. But the latest crusade has left Marco gravely wounded in enemy territory and in the hands of Alicia, healer for the bears. An irresistibly sensuous adversary, Alicia presents a serious problem. She carries the scent of a mate.

Drawn to this dominant master of his den, Alicia knows her allegiance has been compromised. His brooding sexuality is testing her defenses, but falling in love with Marco means falling in league with a rival shifter. And turning her back on the bears in a time of war is a lethal move.

Two breeds united by destiny could inspire a peaceful new future for their opposing clans—or ignite the fiercest battle yet and destroy all of Deep Creek forever.

Review by Elaine

I wasn’t sure about this book since I haven’t read anything by this author. My hubby and I bought her series at a book con last year because they looked good. I finished it in one day, this grabbed my interest and I couldn’t put it down. I love a good ghost/mystery and is it. Exciting and shocking when I got to the last couple chapters. This is definitely a great read, now I’m going to see what she does in the next book.

Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there’s always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled “Lord Margrave’s Deception.” I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce…lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

#Review #Paranormal – The Demon Who Loved Me, Big Bad Bite Series #4 by Jessie Lane

Title: The Demon Who Loved Me
Series: Big Bad Bite Series #4
Author: Jessie Lane
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release: May 28, 2017

He’s a gambling man…

One brunette bombshell with a devious mind and a potty mouth has thrust Kent smack dab in the middle of where he never wanted to be—his family. He’s spent most of his life avoiding his familial responsibilities, especially the one that required him to join the Ninth Circle Council—the demon society’s equivalent of judge, jury, and executioner. Then one lost bet with a little Amazon flips his entire life upside down. With worries about retaliation from the remnants of a rogue pack of wolves in Germany, he doesn’t have time to deal with his family, or his obsession with Chloe Demos.

And she’s the biggest risk he’ll ever take…

After her mother’s death, Chloe’s world crashes down around her. A secret Amazonian heritage. Aunts and a long lost brother she never knew about. Supernatural beings. With all of the sudden changes, she’s decided it’s time to step out from behind her façade of an air-headed, materialistic bimbo and show her sisters she truly does love them—she only hates their wardrobes. What better way to show she cares about her family than to help prove someone close to one of them is innocent of the bogus murder charges from some ridiculous council? Chloe has no scruples about calling in the marker the demon Kent owes her in order to do just that. It’s only too bad she’s underestimated Kent’s intelligence, and his playboy charm.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

OHH Kent.  Man was I loving your book.  I have been dying to know what the heck would happen when you and Chloe got together.  The comedy of Kent and Jenna made me love him right form the start of the series so I have been waiting not so patiently for this book.

Kent you are such a man-whore but Chloe got to ya didn’t she…LOL  Chloe was some kinda awesome.  I love Jessie for her uber sassy and Take No Crap females.  Chloe may look like a fashion diva air head but she is totally not.  Under estimating her will definitely be your number one mistake.  Kent’s man-whore reputation is why Chloe puts up such a front.  She will not be hurt again by any man and she knows Kent could destroy her heart.

The chemistry is OFF THE CHAIN.  Kent is going to keep all the naughty promises that he made Chloe as soon as the danger is clear.  They have to save LuLu before anything can happen but when they do….look out world because they  are a combustible mix.

#NewRelease #ReverseHarem #Review – Blood and Ink, Under the Skin Serial #1 by K.B. Ladnier

Blood and Ink: Under the Skin Serial Part One

***This is one part to a four part reverse-harem serial. Recommended for 18+ and is about 12,000+ words***

My name is Lucy Bryant.

I love bright and pretty colors, girly clothes and music from pretty much any era before the 90’s. Oh…and I’m a vampire.

A vampire who also happens to be the only tattoo artist that can tattoo another vampire and make it stay. I’ve lived a peaceful life as a blood sucking creature of the night so far, but all of it changes with a single tattoo.

I should’ve just locked myself in my coffin…

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Shut the front door.  This book!!  Ok so I was in a book group and we were all dying over a Reverse Harem we had read.  SO of course, being the obsessive readers we are, we were then sharing other RH books.  Well someone shared the cover for this book and then I had to know more.  After checking it out on Goodreads, I messaged the author immediately.  I promised my first born if I could read this book.  I mean Reverse Harem…check.  Paranormal….Double Check.  Hilarious reads….Triple check!!  Seriously when I read the acknowledgements I was cracking up and then her bio, I was a goner. My life goal is to be her new best friend!!  LOL

Ok so this book starts you off with cracking up.  Our vampire girl Lucy is being assaulted by her roommate with glitter and ping pong balls.  Yes the first page and I was cracking up.  This book is a slow set up for the other books because we are getting to know the characters and the world.  Don’t worry thought because plenty of hilarious stuff happens to keep you entertained while you are being broken in to the world.

We meet Lucy’s bestie/Glitter assailant.  We meet her “Werewolf with Benefits”.  We meet her boss and a few clients.  We also meet the STF Agent Hollis Grey….MMMMM….Hollis!!  So Hollis is investigating a guy that Lucy tattooed.  Seems the guys is bad news and Agent Grey needs our girls help in tracking him down.

The book flew and we learned a lot of about Lucy, her friends, her life and her loves.  As the book is slowly winding down, our girl Lucy has a really bad night but it seems Agent Grey is there to help a girl out from her dilemma.

I am soooo flipping ready for installment #2.

K.B. Ladnier is from a small city in Southern Mississippi. She has one daughter and three cats who she claims are stealing her soul in only tiny doses so she won’t notice. She is a cyborg and spends most of her time hiding from her tiny human so she doesn’t have to share her snacks as she reads her favorite books. She hates the beach yet lives only ten minutes away from it and daydreams of mountains and snow. She is married to a hot nerd and loves him dearly even though he hordes cookies and occasionally hides her prosthetic leg from her when she’s mad, so he can get a quick escape. She plans to write as long as people continue loving what she does, otherwise she’s going to say screw it and do her second dream of owning a coffee shop. Though, she may still do both.

#Review #TwinsieForTheDayByElaine – Ravel by Shari J. Ryan @sharijryan

At twenty-three, I’m left with a decision. The outcome could be life or death.

Trent hit me once, and I cried. Then he hit me again. And again. After a while, I got used to it, as I slept on the floor beside his bed, night after night.

Everyone told me to leave him, but I can’t. He won’t let me.

The moment I wanted to give up on myself and any form of hope, Kemper—a tall, sexy Marine just home from Afghanistan walked into my bar. With one look in his eyes, I saw pain that mirrored my own.

At first, I thought maybe he would be my prince charming, riding in to save me, but all it took was one tragedy for me to remember…fairy tales don’t exist in real life.

*The content in this book discusses domestic violence and is suitable for readers over 18.*

Review by Elaine

This is my first book by this author and I am blown away. I can relate to this story. I was in the navy and was married to an abuser. Shari made you feel everything Daphne felt, she takes you through the ups and downs. The joy and fear. I couldn’t put it down. I bought it today and had to read. If reading about abuse triggers a bad reaction then this isn’t a book to read. Its a happily ever after but getting there is painful. Well written, I look forward to reading more by this author.

Hi guys! I’m an indie writer of Romantic Comedy, Contemporary Romance, and Romantic Thrillers. Phoenix Rising (The Kindred, #1)

Middle-aged and more than curvy, Torie Masters is still dreaming of finding that one true love.
Quinn McGrath, Liege Lord to a centuries old clan of shapeshifters has been promised a destined mate by the Goddess. He has all but given up finding her.

Review by Elaine

I couldn’t put it down! the story grabs you and takes you on a breath taking journey of love, jealousy, destruction and turmoil. but with family and friends the clan survives to rebuild. I have to get the next book to find out what happens next. I bought this at #TNEE2016.

Madison Granger is a free spirited late-bloomer that stubbornly believes dreams can come true, never give up, and you’re never too old to try new things. She proved that to herself, and others, when at the age of 30, she got her first horse and went on to become a three time National Champion in the show ring.

Always found with her nose stuck in a book from an early age, Madison had never tried her hand at writing other than an occasional collaboration article for a horse magazine or a personal blog on MySpace. After having a story in her head for over three years, she has written her first book, and is now well on her way to creating a series for her beloved Kindred warriors. Her muse keeps her busy, introducing her to new characters. The struggle is real, forcing her to break away and jot down short stories for future use.

Madison lives in southern Louisiana and enjoys reading, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, and spending time with friends and family.

#Review #TwinsieForTheDayTwinsieKiddo – Cody the Catfish Hunter by Teresa Gabelman

Cody has been fishing since he was old enough to hold a fishing pole. Deciding to start his own club, he invites his two best friends to join. During their first day out Cody wonders if teaching his friends how to fish was a good idea.

Come and join the hilarious fun as Cody ‘The Catfish Hunter’ and his friends spend the day at the lake fishing for Big Bertha.

(Ages 7-10)

Cody had been fishing since he was itty bitty and wanted to teach his friends Hunter and Samantha how to fish. Cody, Hunter and Samantha wanting to catch Big Bertha, the cat fish.

I think the book was really good. I especially like the characters they were really nice in the book. My favorite part of the book was when Samantha didn’t want Cody to put the bluegill on his fishing hook. My second favorite part was when Samantha, Hunter and Cody found the Old Man Summers lost dog in the woods. Hunter was really funny, Samantha laughed at everything and Cody was really strict. Samantha and Hunter fought on what each other could and couldn’t do.  I think that people who like to go fishing would enjoy this book.

Teresa Gabelman is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the ‘Protectors Series’, Lee County Wolves Series and Rodeo Romance (Contemporary). When not writing about alpha vampires, sexy shifters, hot cowboys and the women who drive them crazy she can be found on a lake with a fishing pole/Kindle, at a MMA event or spending a fun evening with family.

Being a full-time writer has allowed Teresa to connect more with readers which is what she loves most about writing. If you find the time she would love to hear from you!

#BoxSet #Spotlight – Tempered Steel Bundle Books 4-6 by Maggie Adams

Love, Marriage & Mayhem – Book 4

With only a small clue to the whereabouts of the arsonist that torched his family’s business, Lawrence “Lucky” Coalson heads to Las Vegas. While posing as a bouncer, Lucky finds himself ensnared by the lovely bartender, Claudia. But, like Lucky, she’s not what she appears to be and what happens in Vegas follows Lucky back home with unimaginable consequences.
Brandon Coalson is as hot as his older brothers, but he’s the sensitive one that patches broken hearts and sends them on their way. Until Anna Meeks walks into the office and into his life. Her shy demeanor melts Brandon’s heart, but she’s got secrets that could get them killed. When a family friend is grievously injured, the men vow to put an end to the sabotage once and for all, but nothing goes according to plan, and the men must fight Mother Nature, a murderer, and the local law enforcement to get the answers they seek.

Forged in Fire  – Book 5

“Lady, if I were you, I’d get the hell away from here ‘cause when I make it up this hill, I’m gonna be looking for you.” Lucky Coalson’s luck has run out. His ex-wife turned out to be a con artist; his business is in a shambles; and he’s been tossed into a muddy river by a smart assed feminist with a chip on her shoulder. Things couldn’t get much worse…or so he thought.

When Lucky’s accused of murdering his ex-wife, the Coalson family enlists the help of a private investigator to gather the clues necessary to prove his innocence. Little did they know that Renee Morgan is the same woman that sent Lucky scrambling up a sodden river bank at the height of a storm.

The two square off immediately, but Renee’s admiration of the Coalson family, despite her dislike of Lucky, is the deciding factor in her acceptance of the job. And although Lucky bristles every time she speaks, he grudgingly respects her intelligence and savvy skills as a private investigator.

As the hunt for the killer escalates, the two find they are not the only ones looking for the mysterious assassin. And the other people are more than willing to take out anyone that gets in their way, including those that Lucky and Renee hold dear to their hearts.

In a moment of passion that rocks them to the core, they realize their love may be forged in fire, but both have been badly burned by past lovers, and too stubborn to admit the truth. Can they find a way around their fears, or will Lucky’s ex-wife continue to plague him from the grave?

Cold as Ice – Book 6

He wants her to be his lover…she wants to be his forever.

Nick Coalson is abrasive, arrogant, and an absolute dynamo in the bedroom. Problem is, he knows it.

Rebecca Morgan is sweet, shy, and immensely attracted to Nick, but he’s trouble in tight jeans and she knows it.

When Nick Coalson saves Rebecca Morgan from an assassin’s bullet, he sets his sights on the shy partner of a detective agency. But he mistakes her kindness for weakness, and learns the hard way that although she may seem submissive, she’s a voluptuous bundle of intelligence and determination.

Rebecca tries to hide her feelings for Nick because he’s the kind of man that makes a smart girl do stupid things. After a sensual encounter, Nick grows distant, stating he wants a lover, not a wife. Rebecca realizes she’s going to need to keep her wits about her if she wants Nick forever because it’s too easy to lose herself to his dominant personality.

When a stranger offers to help her win Nick, she accepts although she wonders what’s in it for him.  But Nick thinks it’s too late for his love when he witnesses a tender moment between Rebecca and another man.  His head tells him to step aside, but his heart aches for her tender touch.

And as the killer closes in on the Coalson family, Nick wonders if it will be too late to save not only their love, but their very lives?

Andromeda's Reign (Moonrising #2)

The Moonrising story continues…

The Alpha Lion of Las Vegas, Ace Keller, has luck on his side, at the poker table and with the ladies, calling bluffs and breaking hearts whenever the notion strikes him.

After bonding with the Alpha Wolf of Montgomery, Alabama, fate flips Ace’s simple world upside down when he finds himself desiring only one woman in his life — Andromeda. But not only does he want her, he needs her touch in order to live.

The bond forces them to feel each other’s emotions and hear each other’s thoughts, which wouldn’t be a problem except Andromeda is in love with a Master Vampire, and Ace has dark secrets of his own that could put her in danger.

Andromeda’s Reign

By: K.S. Haigwood
Where do I begin? This book has everything! Love, action, angst, and passion. The characters are so real and I have to say Ace is definitely all alpha king of the jungle but I still have a soft spot for Phoenix. I’m dying with the need to know what happens next. The cliffhanger is a doozy. I feel like I was left with more questions than answers, but sometimes that can be a good thing. I will be anxiously awaiting to read more about these characters and where they will end up. I had no clue I would become so invested in Mena’s life when I began the series but here I am going through all her ups and downs with her.

“Far from crazy, but equally as far from normal. There are voices in my head and I occasionally talk to them.” – Kristie Haigwood

K. S. Haigwood is the author of the Save My Soul, Eternal Island and Moonrising series. By day, she is a CNC Machinist, but by night and weekend, she saves the world or destroys it in a single bound, depending on what mood she is in and if she has had her coffee. In addition to being an award winner for the ‘Life Changing Read Award’, she has also been nominated twice for Best Indie Book 2016 in the Paranormal category.

Characterization is one of K.S. Haigwood’s strongest points. You can understand each characters’ predicaments and you can almost foresee their reactions. But. There’s always a but, with this author, because Haigwood can deliver enough twists and turns to turn a tornado on its head. Just as you think you’ve figured where the story is going next, she’s duped you again.

The whole of her novels are littered with good chuckle moments, and even in the darkest hour, the thinnest hint of a silver lining is still visible among the clouds.

Shock therapy for body and soul, delivered at a hundred miles an hour with the humor and charisma of a trendsetter, Haigwood is certain to be hailed the new wonder-drug to cure all ills.
