03-20 - Wade Kelly

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 20

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to Wade Kelly

author bio

Wade Kelly lives and writes in conservative, small-town America on the east coast where it’s not easy to live free and open in one’s beliefs. Wade writes passionately about controversial issues and strives to make a difference by making people think. Wade does not have a background in writing or philosophy, but still draws from personal experience to ponder contentious subjects on paper. There is a lot of pain in the world and people need hope. When not writing, she is thinking about writing, and more than likely scribbling ideas on sticky notes in the car while playing “taxi driver” for her three children. She likes snakes, can’t spell, and has a tendency to make people cry.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I refer to myself as an extroverted introvert. LOL. Although I do admit to be progressing toward extrovert, I do have many introverted qualities. I NEED alone time! I have to have quiet to regroup and recharge. I often room alone at conventions because I need some space to decompress after lots of talking and stimulation. Other than that, I am a very social person who likes to talk and hug often!

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I am writing a series now. My Roommate’s A Jock? Well, Crap! was the first book in my JOCK Series. It was published in Dec 2012. Book 2 came out Dec 2015. Yes, there is three years between them, but I am a slow writer and wasn’t planning to continue this series until the story just popped into my head. I think they are harder to write than stand alone because you have to consider the information in the previous novel, and often foreshadow the next. There is more to consider.

Where do you do most of your writing?

Lately, on my couch.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I am into audio books, so I am listening to Dark Horse White Knight by Josh Lanyon. Favorites include: The Adrien English Series by Josh Lanyon, Sinner’s Gin Series by Rhys Ford, American Love Songs by Ashlyn Kane, The Locker Room by Amy Lane, Widdershins Series by Jordan Hawk

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

Yes, it is growing. I think it has to do with acceptance of same sex relationships instead of treating them as a disease. I think the more people that read LGBT stories, the more demand will be generated.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

That it isn’t easy and it takes perseverance. You can’t give up when things aren’t flowing. You just have to push on.

What are you working on now?

I’m writing the 4th book in my JOCK Series. Book 2 came out in Dec 2015 – No! Jocks Don’t Date Guys. Book 3 (Back Off! That’s My Jock) has been submitted to Dreamspinner Press and I hope to hear back soon about a contract. I’m also gearing up to promote Bankers’ Hours as it releases from Dreamspinner Press March 25th!

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Watch a movie with my family. Lately, we’ve been watching episodes of the X-Files together. 🙂

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

Lowest low was after my first novel released and I hoped for huge sales and great reviews! Um, apparently they do not come easily! I was delusional about the business. It is VERY HARD! And when you start out with a book about gay suicide, recognition doesn’t come easily. Highest high came when writing Bankers’ Hours in the summer of 2015. I wrote it in 9 weeks. This was the first time something flowed so easily and I proved to myself I CAN write a novel in a short amount of time. Most of mine have taken a year to write. Finishing this one was thrilling! My career has changed because I’ve learned how to be more dedicated in writing and more organized. Writing EVERYDAY is very important! Over time, I have also learned to let go of bad reviews. In the beginning, they were crushing! Now, I have to think of them as differing opinions. Everyone has their own opinions. I can’t take them personally!

MM March Madness – March 19 – Bey Deckard

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 19

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to Bey Deckard

author bio

Born and raised in a small coastal town in northern Québec, Bey spent his early summers on his uncle’s boat and running wild on the beaches of the surrounding islands, lighting fires and building huts out of driftwood and fishermen’s nets. As an adult, he eventually made his way to university and earned a degree in Art History with a strong focus on Anthropology. Primarily a portrait painter and graphic artist, Bey sat down one day and decided to start writing. Bey currently lives in the wilds of Montréal with his best buddy, a ridiculous, spotty pit bull named Murphy.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I like doing charity and pro bono work. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed—I do paintings/original artwork for auctions to raise money for shelter dogs, LGBT youth groups, and green initiatives, and I support orgs like MSF (Doctors Without Borders), and non-profits. I’d love to do even more as time goes on.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I find it’s harder *not* to write a series. My first book was book 1 in a trilogy that’s now turned into a series. Why? Because I love my characters and to continue writing about them makes me happy. I get to revisit them. As a reader, I really enjoy series… as long as they don’t go on too long. I don’t mind things that are unfinished, in fact sometimes I prefer an unfinished series to one that ends weakly.

Where do you do most of your writing?

In my home office—I’ve got a really nice set up now. I used to write on the couch, but that got to be a real pain in the back. I also write on the go using my phone. I wrote most of my first book (Caged) on my old iPhone 4.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I’m not reading anything at the moment. I’ve discovered that I’m not very good at reading and writing at the same time. However, I was on vacation a little while ago and devoured Dan Skinner’s “Xperiment”. A fantastic read. My favourite books within the LGBT umbrella would be… hm… “Grif’s Toy” and “Brothers LaFon” by Joseph Lance Tonlet, Jack L. Pyke’s “Don’t” series, “Trasmundo: Escape” by Varian Krylov, Brad Vance’s “Would I Lie to You?”. On the more mainstream side, Cry to Heaven by Anne Rice is one of my all time favourite books. Oh! And The Swede by Robert Karjel was very good. I mostly read science fiction, fantasy, horror, graphic novels, KGB/CIA thrillers, medical texts, non-fiction

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

LGBT romance/erotica? I would guess yes. It feels like folks (at least in some places) are becoming more knowledgeable and inclusive about sexual orientation and gender identity, and so stories featuring characters that span the spectrum are more in demand.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

The biggest surprise I had was that my readers were largely women. I had no idea that would happen. And, also, that readers expect books to follow certain formulas.

What are you working on now?

I am deep into a fantasy novel right now. It’s called Kestrel’s Talon and it’s tentatively set to come out in April. I don’t yet have a synopsis, but it’s got a page on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28926549-kestrel-s-talon It’s about 60% written so far, so I’ll update the pub date when I have a firm idea of when it’ll be done.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Watch movies or go have some drinks with a friend or go to a concert.

Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Today is devoted to Nicholas Bella

author bio

About me? Hmmm, I’m just a person with a wild imagination and a love for words who was sitting around the house one day and said, “Why hasn’t anyone written a book like this before?”. As with every storyteller, I wanted to share mine with the world. I like my erotica dark, gritty, sexy… and even a little raunchy. I’m not afraid to go there and I hope you aren’t afraid to go there with me. When I’m not writing, I love watching movies and TV shows, clubbing, biking, and hanging out with family and friends. I love life. I’d love to hear from you, feel free to send me a shout out!

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I love red meat, pizza, all kinds of music and anime.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I love writing a series because you can do so much more with your characters than with a stand alone book.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I have my laptop hooked up to my television, so I do most of my writing in bed.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I’m currently reading Tessa Dawn, Blood Curse series. I like books that are outside of the norm. Author’s who didn’t stick with the traditional and who take big chances with their characters and stories.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

I do feel that the genre is expanding, and I think that’s because people are more accepting of the LGBT community. Not only that, readers are coming out of their shells and accepting the fact that they find two men or women or two on one, etc, to be extremely sexy. People are also seeing love is love and it is expressed in so many ways.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

That there is so much involved with promoting. I’m sure every author wishes they could just write a book and the entire world instantly knows about it. But that just isn’t the case. It takes a lot of marketing and no one avenue can always be a success for every author. What works for one may not work for another, so you’re constantly trying to figure out what do I do next?

What are you working on now?

I’m currently writing the 2nd episode of the 4th season of my New Haven Series: Kingdom of Ara. It’s going to be explosive in more ways than one.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Write. I love writing. Or hanging out with friends when I can.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

My highest high happened when my book hit the no. 1 best seller’s spot in LGBT Erotic Horror and earned that coveted orange flag on Amazon. That was a dream come true. The was matched by making the top 100 authors in Horror. All of which I owe to my fans. My lowest low was suffering a wrist injury that affects how much I can write.

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 17

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to  Cardeno C

author bio

Cardeno C.—CC to friends—is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few awwws into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I’m a vegetarian who enjoys cooking and baking. I also love puppy snuggles.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I try to have a combination of books that are connected and books that aren’t. I call my connected books collections rather than series because they are each standalone with only location or worlds in common. As far as easier or harder, I don’t see a difference although in paranormal worlds, it’s nice to be able to expand a world once you put the effort into building it.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I do almost all of my writing at home, usually on my sofa. I’m not a desk person.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I’m always reading books from the many wonderful authors in the gay romance genre. Currently, I’m reading books by Riley Hart and Felice Stevens, who share a blog and a Facebook group with me.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

I absolutely believe the gay romance genre is growing! I chat with readers new to our wonderful genre every day. They come in after discovering a book by one of us and the next thing we know, they have hundreds of books on their e-readers. I hope I’m contributing to the growth by getting my books out there and (hopefully) writing books readers enjoy.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

I’m often surprised by my good fortune in being able to succeed at this. It’s a huge gift in my life.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on a standalone novel tentatively called Moral Turpitude. I’m also working on some new audio books – The One Who Saves Me and More Than Everything.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

I’m doing this interview on a Saturday night and I’m smiling while I do it so that counts as fun. I also love spending time with friends and family. And, of course, I always love reading.

author bio

I have always been a lover of anything that allows my imagination to fly, movies, music, art and of course books of all genres. The opportunity to slip away to another world and live out all sorts of fantasies was the perfect happy place I needed at times, a great escape. It didn’t take long for my love of reading to transform into a desire to write a book of my very own. But being severely dyslexic I never thought that It would be a possibility. Enter my guardian angel with her unrelenting encouragement and I started out on a rollercoaster journey to make my dream come true. When I am not writing I can often be found listening to rock music, delving into the life of a gorgeous alpha male, drawing and painting or trying to teach my cats Boo fishcake and Edward Elton to play fetch [Don’t ask, they think that they are dogs and I am not going to squash their dreams]. My biggest wish that people can find their happy place in the words I write and hope that I can inspire others to know that if I can do they can do it they can share their worlds and imaginations too.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I love all things quirky that allow self-expression. Why be like everyone else? Tattoos are a form of living art a way to share a part of you with the world without words. The same with fashion or hair color and piercings. Anything and everything that allows people to stand out from the crowd. I love it when someone has the courage to just be them and say “This is me, deal with it.” I truly believe that the world would be a better place if we all embraced our differences and didn’t try and get people to conform to what other deem as “normal”. Who wants to be normal anyway? I am a proud member of the crazy, different, strange and follow the beat of my own drummer club.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I love books that belong to a series, but what I am not a fan of are cliffhangers. I am far too impatient about waiting for the next installment. As a reader when enjoying a book that belongs in a series I like to have a conclusion to the main character’s journey, I don’t feel it hinders the story to tie up loose ends for the main characters. As a writer I sometimes feel conflicted about when the story should end and what storylines should be carried forward to the next chapter in the series. That is why I try to write a story that can carry on for several books but focus on certain characters for each book. Then both the readers and I get to have our cake and eat it too. A story that keeps you guessing but not with a ton of unanswered questions only the want to keep reading. That is more hope anyway.

Where do you do most of your writing?

Everywhere. When I am writing I can get pretty absorbed into the story and everything else disappears. In a Café, home. As long as I have my computer and inspiration strikes you’ll find me tapping away.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I am reading Full Domain by Kindle Alexander at the moment. I love all types of genres, some of my favourite M.M Authors and series are Alexa Land First and Forever Series. A.E Via Something Special Series. Jamie Reese The Men of the halfway house series and Mary Calmes Matter of time series.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

The M/M community is growing every day and I am so excited to be added to the list of Authors that write for the genre. I will say that I have met some of the friendliest and generous people within this community. Not only have I gained some great friends but a lot of the Authors were so kind and helpful with offering advice. My hope is that if ever any one needed help in the future I would be there for them as others were for me.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

That whilst I am absorbed in a story I am completely free. Just another of self-expression.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on the sequel to Succumbing to his Fear. There will be a little snippet at the end of the book.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

I know this is going to make me sound very boring, but I don’t think there is anything better than curling up with a good book. Yes even on a Saturday night. I can hear you saying you boring fart from here.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

I am at the very start of my writing career so I have yet to experience many of the ups and downs in the industry. I am very lucking though to be surrounded by the best people. A.E.Via and Tim at Via Star Wings Books are fantastic and have helped my achieve my dream. Jay Aheer is so talented and did my Cover Art and Tina Adamski who edited my book and helped me concur so many fears. They are truly amazing and i can’t express how I grateful I am to each of them.

MM March Madness – MARCH 15 – CM Michaels

03-15 - CM Michaels

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 15

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to CM Michaels

author bio

C.M Michaels grew up in a small town in northern Michigan as the youngest child of a close-knit family of seven. He met his wife, Teresa, while attending Saginaw Valley State University. Together they’ve provided a loving home for several four-legged “kids”, including Sophie, their eternally young at heart, hopelessly spoiled Spaniel. He has always enjoyed writing, and still has fond memories of reading his first book, a children’s novella, to local grade schools when he was 14. C.M. is currently working on the third book in the Sisters in Blood series along with a Fantasy romance called Kerrigan’s Race. An avid reader since discovering Jim Kjelgaard novels in early childhood, his favorite authors include Kelley Armstrong, Peter V. Brett, Richelle Mead, Rachel Caine and Laini Taylor. When he’s not writing, C.M. can be found curled up with a good book, watching movies or hitting the hiking trails with his wife. C.M. currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I am an avid outdoors-man and an ammeter wildlife photographer. My wife and I have visited Yellowstone National Park three times. During our visits we have been fortunate enough to capture great shots of wolves on the hunt, grizzly bears wrestling each other, black bears, coyotes, moose, elk, buffalo, eagles and many other wonderful creatures.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I am currently working on an Urban Fantasy and a Fantasy series. I really enjoy reading and writing series as it gives the author a chance to develop characters beyond what is possible in a stand-alone book and to have a broader plot-arc which readers can enjoy over a span of time. The characters from some of my favorites series have become so familiar that it feels like I am catching up with family when the next installment comes out. Hearing readers passionately speak about how strongly they identify with my characters has been one of the most rewarding aspects of becoming a writer.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I have a home office with an old-school PC. It provides me with a relatively quiet space so I can focus while still being close enough to the family room to not feel totally isolated from my wife. Someday I may break down and get a laptop. Imagining myself kicking back in the lush valleys of Yellowstone, watching buffalo lazily graze the day away while I work on my next creation is certainly a dream of mine 🙂

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I am currently reading the Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine. She is most known for her Morganville Vampire series which I really enjoyed. Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines and Vampire Academy series are two of my all-time favorites. Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series is wonderful, too. For Dystopian , I highly recommend Peter V. Brett’s Warded Man series and Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

The Urban Fantasy genre is certainly growing. In spite of me consuming books at a frenzied pace, filling most of our basement, I am never at a shortage for new series to read. I think the reason the genre has so much appeal is that it is still set in the real world, making it easier for readers to imagine themselves as the main characters. At the same time, by introducing magic and the supernatural, the story-line isn’t as bound by the restrictions of ordinary life. More spectacular things can happen. There can be much larger surprises. If you enjoy a good romance sub-plot, rather than being limited to a wrong-side-of-the-tracks scenario, where characters overcome tired social biases to find true love, the hurdles can be much more daunting. Like having to change species, for example. The reader gets to imagine being accepted into a pack of werewolves or joining a vampire coven. The more fantastical world the reader gets to immerse themselves in the more fully they can escape the daily grind.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

How much time is spent in the editing process. Between my own proofreads, making changes from Beta reader feedback, doing my full second draft review prior to submitting to my publisher, then the three rounds of edits with the assigned editor, over nine months is spent editing, versus about six months writing the first draft.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on finishing the first book in my Fantasy series called Kerrigan’s race, along with the third book in my Urban Fantasy, Sisters in Blood series.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Even after twenty years of marriage, Saturday night is date night with my wife. We are avid movie goers, and manage to catch most films on the big screen with a nice dinner at one of our favorite spots beforehand. It’s our chance each week to spend quality time together.

Tell us about your highest high and your lowest low in your career so far.  How has it changed you?

My highest high would be the day that I signed my first contract and became a published author. While there are certainly multiple avenues to get your work out there these days, for me, being traditionally published was my first huge goal in my writing career. My lowest low would be receiving the countless rejection letters, 145 in all, before landing the deal for my first book. In the end, the third request for a full manuscript landed me the deal. Even though I knew to expect them, reading through the pile of form rejection letters each day can still be disheartening after a while.

Prepare for a little bit of everything. Dangerous Waters was good but Omnipotent blood really outdoes itself. What happens in a world where you are the monster? You are the hunter, predator, monster…vampire. Just when you think things can’t get any worse you find out there are other monsters that are worse than you. Brooke and her family are on the move after the chaos that ensued at the mall. When trying to keep her family safe and trying to figure out her new powers she is abducted by a demon who wants to use her body and powers to overthrow the angels and the earthen realm. From here there is a one hell of a rollercoater ride. Brooke experiences abuse (sexual, mental, and physical) while her body is being overtaken by a demon. She somehow is able to hold on to a thread of her humanity that allows her to overcome the possession. She then has to face some very hard, heart wrenching decisions in order to help the angels fight the war against the demons. The story goes to many dark places while at the same time is witty and is filled with love. This is a beautifully chaotic story that will hold you in it’s clutches.

“Great. My girlfriend is a witch. Can’t wait until we have our first fight. You’ll probably turn me into a toad.”

“Lately, being around me was like doing research on the world’s deadliest neurotoxins while blindfolded and trapped inside an unstable nuclear reactor. I was a one-girl plague.”

“Horrific squeals and shrieks from the beasts doused in her napalm echoed off the rock walls even as others cried out, creating a macabre cacophony of death that sounded like something the devil himself would conduct.”

The one spoiler I will give is there is a happily ever after. Not quite what you expect but sooooo worth the read!

MM March Madness – MARCH 14 – Sloan Johnson

03-14 - Sloan Johnson

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 14

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to Sloan Johnson

author bio

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass. When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after. Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book? Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I’ve held just about every job out there short of neurosurgeon. Before realizing that I could actually do something with my writing, I bounced from one job to the next, trying to figure out why I didn’t have a dream job that just fit.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I love writing them. I think the hardest thing about writing a series is knowing when it’s time to move on. As a reader, I almost always come to a point where I’ve enjoyed my time with a group of characters, but I’m ready for something new. As an author, I try to keep that feeling in mind.

Where do you do most of your writing?

Either on the couch or in my alcove. I can’t write in any public places because there are far too many distractions.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I just finished Save of the Game by Avon Gale. I absolutely love that series! I’m also a huge fan of THIRDS by Charlie Cochet and just about anything by Renae Kaye, Keira Andrews, Leta Blake, Andrew Grey, and Christina Lee.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

I absolutely feel the genre is growing. I’d like to think that those of us who write both m/f and m/m are helping that growth because readers of one series will pick up the other and realize that m/m stories are absolutely amazing. I know that’s how I found m/m as a reader.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

That getting the story on paper is the easiest part. Some days, it seems like pulling teeth, but it’s everything after “The End” that’s hard.

What are you working on now?

I have quite a bit in the works. This year has been very good to me and I’m looking forward to not only continuing the Homeruns series, but also introducing the Home in the Heartland series this month with Never Too Late. Dax: My life ended six years ago. No, really. I was dead on the side of the road following a gruesome motorcycle accident. From what I’ve been told, it’s only because of one stubborn man that I have another chance to make something of my life. I no longer hate him for screwing up what I thought I wanted. I want to thank him. NEED to tell him what his actions mean to me. Now, I’m headed back to the town I’ve never set foot in even though it’s a huge part of my life. I’m not thrilled about that, but the job offers haven’t exactly been flowing in. They’ll probably think I’m crazy, because there’s no way I won’t be able to look at every guy I walk past, wondering if he’s the one who saved me. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28100264-never-too-late Michael: My entire life, I wanted to save lives. I’d earned a full-ride scholarship and had been accepted to med schools across the country. I was so close to making those dreams a reality until the night held a dying man in my arms. I’ve never been able to get the images of his lifeless body caked in mud out of my head. Even when the paramedics tried to take over trying to save him, I couldn’t let go. I never let go. Eventually, my guilt over not doing more cost me everything but my son. And now, I worry I’ll lose him if I don’t get it together. I’ve often thought that if I could find him, maybe I could get some closure and finally get my life back on track. Now he’s here and I’m more of a mess than ever. Once the truth comes out, will he keep trying to save me or will he realize that it’s too late?

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Curl up and watch a movie with the kids and husband.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

The highest high had to be when a reader sent me an email thanking me for making him feel normal. I won’t go into too many details, but he told me how my characters resonated with him on a very personal level and let him know that he was okay. There’s no greater feeling than that. As for the lows, I prefer to not dwell on them. The only thing that sticks in my mind is writing a book I loved and receiving a lot of backlash for it. The silver lining there is I wrote the story as I saw it in my mind, knowing it’d be a hot button for people for various reasons, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Today is devoted to Amie Nicole Walker

author bio

I am a wife and mother to three kids, three dogs, and a cat. When I’m not dreaming up stories, I like to lose myself in a good book, cook or bake. I’m a girly tomboy who paints her fingernails while watching sports and yelling at the referees. I will always choose the book over the movie. I believe in happily-ever-after. Love inspires everything that I do. Music keeps me sane.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I am nearly a complete pantser when it comes to writing a book. I write up a cast of characters when I begin a project and sometimes I will have plot points that I want to hit. Other than that, I sit down at my laptop each day and I never know what’s going to happen in the story until the characters tell me. Pssst, I don’t hear voices! I think it’s important to note that!

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

There is no doubt that series appear to be more popular with readers at the moment. I think it’s because they get to spend more time with the characters they’ve come to love and it allows them to have a deeper connection. If I’m honest, my all-time favorite books are series and it’s for the reasons I just gave. I am currently writing the 5th book in my Fated Hearts series. Each book is about a different couple and can be read as part of the series or as a standalone book. I am planning a series for 2017 that will follow the same couple for at least two or three books. I’m not sure if writing a series is necessarily easier, but it is my preference at this time. I do have standalone novels in mind, but I’m not sure when they will be written.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I used to write in my bedroom before I was able to stay home and write fulltime. Now, I have a designated home office. I think I’ve outgrown my desk, but I’m too superstitious to buy a new one.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

I am currently reading Knights to Remember by Nicole Colville. I love that lady so very much – as a writer and a friend. I have so many favorite books and authors – some I’ve just discovered and others I’ve loved since I first started reading gay romance 2014. My current obsessions are John Wiltshire and Santino Hassell. They are so very talented! I have their newest books in my Kindle library and I’m using them as a writing reward. I make myself earn the privilege to read their books.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

This genre is exploding with new readers and writers all of the time. I think it’s a beautiful thing. I contribute a lot of the growth of our genre to some of the crossover writers like Nicole Edwards. For example, I read her Walker brother series and it was my first time reading any kind of guy on guy action. I loved it and wanted more so I started looking into gay romance novels and I haven’t looked back. I just love the genre.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

The most surprising thing I’ve learned about writing is to trust myself. It sounds easier than it is to achieve. There are so many people telling you that you have to do this or have to do that, but I’ve learned to just tell the story that’s in my heart and trust that it won’t let me down.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on the 5th book in the Fated Hearts series. It’s titled Return to Me. It’s a second chance love story – the first I’ve attempted. I am looking at a late March or early April release.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

My favorite thing to do on a Saturday night is go out on a dinner date with my husband. He’s still my biggest fan after 22 years.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

The highest of highs is earning that orange best seller ribbon on Amazon. You sit and stare at the screen and ask “me?” I would also say that getting to know my favorite authors that I used to fangirl over is really awesome too. The relationship I’ve developed with my readers means the world to me. I’ve not personally had anything that I would consider a low point in my short career. I look at everything as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

At my day job, I play with drugs all day 🙂

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I love a good series, one of my favorites is the Assassin/Shifter series by Sandrine Gasq-Dion which is at 25 books and counting. All the books I’ve written so far are in series, Opposites and All Cocks. As the numbers climb for books in the series, they get harder to write because you have to remember every character’s details, and the list just keeps growing.

Where do you do most of your writing?

At my desk in my room with my playlist going.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

As I’m writing this interview it’s January 24th and I’m reading Star Power by Morticia Knight. And she is one of my favorite Authors, especially her Gin and Jazz series.

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

I do, we have new Authors releasing books all the time in the LGBT genre. I think I contribute a different voice and train of thought that is reflected in my writing. But then, that is definition of an Author, so I think each and every one of us contributes to that.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

It’s hard. What I’m thinking and seeing in my head rarely translates on paper. You need a dictionary handy at all times as well, so that you aren’t repetitive. Writing also reminds me why I hated school! LOL!!

What are you working on now?

I’m working on the 4th book in the All Cocks series, Dare to Hope. And the 3rd book in the Opposites series, Snapped.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Go out for dinner and drinks with friends and then go see a good movie.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

My highest high was when my first book went live on Amazon, can’t beat that initial surge of emotions. I just cleaned up my lowest low, the Opposites series. I released those books when I was still green and getting comfortable with writing. I also didn’t have an editor.

MM March Madness – MARCH 7 – Ann Lister

03-07 - Ann Lister

MM MARCH MADNESS!!

March 7

Twinsie Talk is proud to present the 3rd Annual MM March Madness – a month to focus on the M/M, F/F, M/M/F, M/F/M authors. We love these books and want to share it with the rest of the world. Each day we will post an interview. We will also include any reviews that we have done on these books as well as links to the books.

Our hope is that you will love this genre as much as we do! <3

Today is devoted to Ann Lister

author bio

Ann Lister writes erotic love stories using beautifully drawn characters; flawed and emotionally damaged, and at the height of their careers, each in search of the one thing that still eludes them: love.

The Rock Gods series gave her Bestselling Author status on Amazon. Each book in this series brings her two favorite elements together: musicians and the love between two men. These stories focus on what it truly means to love; love unconditionally, love without restrictions or labels, love without fear or judgment – to just simply love.

Tell us about something about you (not included in your normal author bio) that maybe not everyone knows about you.

I absolutely HATE potato of any kind. I’d rather eat dirt. I don’t even like the smell of potatoes cooking. They are horrible and nasty and you couldn’t even pay me to gag a bite down.

I am also a chocolate whore and would eat anything covered in chocolate – except for potato. Not happening, ever, with the potato.

There’s been a trend in writing a series. How do you feel about series? Do you write them? Do you think they are easier or harder?

I am finishing up Book 7 in the Rock Gods series. The way I have written my series is to include all the characters in each book which creates a lot of work to keep the reader updated on so many different people. But, I feel the reader gets a fuller view of the characters and their lives when the series is written that way.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I have an office that my husband built by converting our sun room over to a year-round room for me. I have two walls of windows so the room is naturally bright and the view looks out over our side yard. I have two bird feeders up against one of the glass doors and I can watch the birds while I work, which I find relaxing. I also see deer from time to time, and various other types of wildlife right from my office window.

What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for your favorite books (beside your own, of course)?

Well, I just finished reading Harley’s Achilles by Sandrine Gasq-Dion and I loved it! Best book in her rock series!
I’m about to start Perfect Fit by Aimee Nicole Walker and I can’t wait!

Do you feel that this genre is growing? And what do you contribute to that growth or decline?

I do feel the M/M genre is growing with the number of new fans growing as fast as the number of new M/M authors releasing in the genre. It is an exciting time to be part of it.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned about writing?

What surprises me is that people actually read what I write. I have always written stories to entertain myself so when others enjoy them, too, that still shocks the hell out of me.

What are you working on now?

I am in the editing process of Book 7 in The Rock Gods series which will release in February sometime. This is the end of that series but this story will also launch a spin-off series titled: Guarding The Gods. This new series will have stories about the men who work in the background for the Rock Gods. This will include a story for Fizzbo, Spumoni, and several new characters which are introduced in Book 7. I’m really excited to get going on that series. I should also let everyone who have enjoyed The Rock Gods to look forward to many cameo appearances in the new series by The Rock Gods!

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

Maybe socialize a bit and then come home and read.

Tell us about the highest HIGH and lowest LOW in your career so far. How has it changed you?

Well, of course the highest of highs would be when I hit #1 in Gay Romance for the first time – and every time since then has been an equal high for me.
The lowest of lows? I don’t like to talk about that, but it was indeed an eye opening experience for me. It changed me because it forced me to put on my big girl panties and make some difficult decisions. By doing that it put a positive spin on this event and I walked away with an enormous sense of relief once it was over.
