Sidney Larson always thought dark-haired, blue-eyed Brett Carmichael was sinfully sexy, to say nothing of the muscular mechanic’s talent with his hands. But Sidney so didn’t have time for Brett’s overbearing tendencies when they were together so she broke things off. Now a chance encounter brings Brett back into her life, and Sidney can’t help but notice intriguing changes in her ex. So what’s stopping her from revisiting their scorching-hot chemistry?

Since Sidney dumped him, Brett’s made major life adjustments, thanks to therapy and a long, hard look at himself. Sure, he’s still intense but he knows how to focus his energy on his career, not on trying to control a fantastic woman like Sidney. Brett finds the sweet, generous brunette more seductive than ever, but now that he’s finally worthy of her, will she be willing to give him a second chance?

Goodreads

Cute and hilarious quick read! I have not read the series but was able to appreciate the story completely. Brett and Sidney were in a relationship but Brett was very overbearing and Sidney had to break it off. Brett has been trying to work through his “issues” and has a business proposition come up that could be really good for him. On his way he “runs” into Sidney and he feels the sparks fly….but so does she. It has been almost a year and they have gone to great lengths to avoid each other. As they story goes on they get to know each other again and realize that love is love and maybe they were meant to be. The story is cute and lovely. It’s very relate-able to its readers and if you give it a try you won’t be able to help but love them.

#Review – Everyone In L.A. Is An Asshole by Sarah Fuller

Everyone In LA Is An Asshole

LA is a beast. A city that swallows most with its glamour and glitz.

Not Sarah Fuller though.

Stubborn and relentless, Sarah refuses to be changed by her surroundings. Often, she takes a cynical approach, judging the world around her, though never taking anything too seriously.

Thrown back into the dating arena in her late thirties, Sarah encounters brand new challenges.

Readers will laugh out loud at the adventures and mishaps this sassy protagonist gets herself into. She explores LA life, seeing it through her unique lens.

Hair extensions, goat yoga, socialites and all the strangeness that comes out of LA weave together in this crazy, episodic adventure.

Can you handle the absurdities?

Scroll back up and hit the ‘Read Now’ or ‘Buy’ button and laugh until you can’t see.

Fans of Chelsea Handler and Sex in the City will love Everyone in LA is an Asshole, a series that doesn’t hold back and says what we’re all secretly thinking.

Goodreads

If you are even thinking about reading this, just stop and buy the damned book! It is a non-stop ride of hilarity, dripping with sarcasm and full of craziness!  Being in your 30’s and being thrust back into the dating game and doing it while you are a single mom is stressful to say the least. Sarah takes us through her experiences and give you insight as to all the insane things that people are out there doing and how it reflects back on you. There are a ton of funny and funky characters that will keep you hooked through the entire book. Each chapter is a different part of Sarah’s life and each chapter opens a new perspective. She not only makes fun of others but completes this by making fun of herself as well. From her old life knocking at the door, her new life calling on the phone, red-heads she can’t shake, and online dating in the world of LA, she makes you relate to her and the absurdity of life itself. If you need a book to sit down and have some laugh out loud fun, then this is the one for you!

#NewRelease #Review #MontgomeryInk Inked By Numbers: A Colorado Springs Bonus Romance by Carrie Ann Ryan

Kaylee knows art, friendship, and love. And because she’s known love, she wants nothing to do with it ever again. She likes her life just the way it is. Her art and her Brushes with Lushes classes keep her sane and happy.

Landon spends his days with numbers and financial spreadsheets. At night, he just wants to relax, but the only way he can do that is with a woman. But these days, not just any woman will do.

Kaylee and Landon do an excellent job of dancing around each other, but no matter how much desire burns between them or their own personal hang-ups, they’ll need to make a choice: life as they know it, or a life that could be so much more.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

Ok my friends, for those of you who don’t know Kaylee and Landon have been circling around each other for a year.  They’re friends and have helped the Colorado Springs gang get their head together when need be and this little story gives us the why on the circling.  It is a sweet and lovely story of two friends realizing the relationship they thought they didn’t want, they truly did and didn’t consciously know it.

You also get to see a bit of their family life and learn what makes them ticked.  The artist and the money man, you wouldn’t think that they’d fit together but they truly do and it’s beautiful to see.  It’s a beautiful thing when two friends find love, its even more beautiful when they find it with each other.

#REVIEW – Her Master’s Courtesan by Lily White

I am a Master.

You must know this fact to understand my story.

I capture women.

I break them down.

And I rebuild them.

If they are lucky, they are sold into the professional hands of another Master. If they are less fortunate, they are buried beneath the ground, never to be thought of again.

I lust for the control, I demand absolute submission and my body yearns to warp the minds of those I train.

Power is the only thing I’ll ever need and I am addicted to the feeling of ultimate control.

I am wealthy, good-looking, educated and charming.

And I am – in no way – a good man.

I do not want love.

I do not want kindness.

She thought she could change me by giving me the two things I knew I never wanted.

She was wrong.

Twinsie Jo’s Review

So I decided to re-read this series to get ready for the new one that just came out and I forgot how much I love Aiden. Although, he’s the biggest douche known to man, he actually does have a sweet side. Kind of. Just don’t tell him I told you that.

Rebecca and Aiden meet at an art gallery when she stumbles upon an erotic photo. Aiden woos her and not too long later, she wakes up and has no idea where she is. Well it all goes down hill from there. Or up hill? Eventually up hill. If it’s your thing.

One thing I love about Lily’s books, especially this series, she’s a Master of mind f**kery. Just when you think you know Aiden, the tables turn.

Rebecca thinks she can over power him, manipulate him into falling for her but she’s wrong. So so very wrong.

Now when this book first came out years ago, it was banned everywhere. It’s not for some. It’s actually not even for most but I personally love it. Once you get through all the torture and abuse, it’s about a man who meets a woman who cracks some part of him. What that part is, we don’t know yet but it’s cracked. And I can’t wait to find out what else Lily has in store for us.

Goodreads

OH HELL!!! Here comes BOB!!! I can’t tell you which of this series is my favorite because they are all soooooo different but with the same flare for gore, sarcasm, wittiness, and a killer plot! Again, I feel a little more evil with each book I read from RK. Maybe I’m going to hell because I can not get enough of the twisted thoughts, bent sarcasm and the rollercoaster of gore. But it’s totally worth it! These are my people!

“Sowing the seeds of discontent, creating doubt, disarray and general mayhem.”

This sums up this story PERFECTLY!!!!

Ok enough with this. The story starts right where 4 leaves off. Shep returns but with quite a vengeance as he actually died in purgatory! WTH?! RIGHT?! But the kicker is that he found Andrea. He F’n found her! And now it is his mission to get her back. But when he found Andrea he met Bob. And get ready for Bob! He is one of my favorite characters in the story. Well, there is Rusty (the cat) too. And he is freaking hilarious!!!! If cats could talk, LOL! Shep is ready to form the escape plan for Andrea. He gets everyone on board and gets some major help from Bob. But Bob, he is super simple but not. I hope that makes sense because it makes perfect sense to me. The thing with Bob is that sometimes he acts a little too quick and doesn’t give or get the best direction. Because of this the crazy group travels to some outlandish new planes of existence. The story stays gory with all the sarcasm that we love but we do get to see some of the truer sides of Shep….and Andrea. “Every choice I’ve ever made was for me and me alone, to save my (behind) or get what I wanted. I’m a survivor, not a (f’n) hero.” Shep says this and I think this is true for a lot of people. And as with the rest of the True Death series, nothing is as it seems. When we finally get to Andrea is everything all rainbows and unicorns? You must read this to find out!!!!!!!

The thing about RK’s characters are that they are a lot like me in some way, shape or form. I CAN RELATE! I feel like I know them and I can’t wait to hate them, love them, and threaten some of their lives! I am looking forward to continuing this series. And if you haven’t read the beginning of the series yet….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!!!!!

I was born high in the Andes and raised by a band of wandering gypsies. At the ripe old age of 7, I struck out on my own, dabbling in the arts of alchemy and personal financing. Neither of the trades paid off. At 13 I became the personal juggler for Stephen King, but alas, that didn’t last long either. Since then, I’ve wandered aimlessly through life and this planet, stopping along the way to help people and smite the wicked.

A little while ago I decided to try my hand at writing. I published The True Death series independently for The True Death and The Vengeful Death but was recently picked up and published by Love N Books.

#WOTR19 – #Review – Portal Through the Veil by Miranda Lynn

Portal Through the Veil

An heir, set to rule over all of Faery, on one condition- that she marry and take a King to rule at her side. Her father is determined to see her wed to a prince of his choosing, however, Tatianna has other plans. Plans that don’t involve tying the knot. What this princess didn’t anticipate, was the unexpected guest to what was, essentially, her engagement festival.

Kallan, prince of the dark court- was not only unexpected, but uninvited. He knew it would be a risk to show up. Not only was he a dark fae, but a human as well. It would all be worth it though to see her again. When light meets dark- and two worlds collide- secrets, lies and betrayals are exposed.

Luckily, fate, magic and a bit of divine intervention will help to bring balance back to the land of Faery. No matter the cost.

Goodreads

“A desire to live in the light instead of simply surviving in the shadow of darkness.”

Beautifully written but a fast read! You are immediately drawn into the the world of Faery. Quickly learning about the Fae and their customs and then you are thrown right into the mix of Tatianna having to find a prince to rule beside her as her King. Nope, she is not having none of that! She believes in change and believes she is strong enough to rule her people without a man. But we quickly find out that this is not going to be the case. Her father has a plan to make her choose….or rather he will choose for her through a series of tests for chosen suitors. What the king is not expecting is Kallan to make an appearance as he is a dark fae but is also half human. Tatiana cannot help but be drawn to Kallan and his mysterious vibe but she finds that she only has eyes for him…… and he for her. When this starts to heat up and secrets are unraveled these two have to band together to save Faery. The trials these two face and the secrets that come out will put true love to the test.

This is a YA story but has none of the feels of teenage hormones and drama. This is an evolved type of YA story that is beautiful and warm. A must read! I hope to read more of these two!

#NewRelease #Review #YA #NewSeries From Breath And Ruin (Elements of Five Book 1) Carrie Ann Ryan

In her YA debut, New York Times bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan dives into a world with magic and sacrifice with the Elements of Five.

Five hundred years ago, the Maison Realm was shattered, divided into warring kingdoms of elemental Wielders with fate and truth shadowed and uncertain. Now, factions of both the light and dark venture into the human realm in search of the prophesied Spirit Priestess who is said to Wield the Elements of Five and bring the two fractured kingdoms together.

Lyric has no idea that there’s a realm outside the human one she lives in. When fate and circumstances are pulled from her hands after an accident, and she finds out that nothing is as it seems.

There is a war surrounding her and when Lyric realizes that they are searching for her, she must rely on those she once trusted: a boy who isn’t who she thought, and a new realm of warriors who have come to protect her as she trains.

For the darkness is coming, and the Queen of Obscurite wants to ensure that the King of Lumiere can’t get his hands on Lyric. And the only way to ensure that is if Lyric herself is no more … no matter the cost to prophecy.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

From one of my favorite contemporary and paranormal authors comes a new series and it’s YA.  Carrie Ann Ryan leads us into a world of elemental magic, a world looking for it’s savior in the form of the Spirit Priestess.

Lyric, love that name btw, is a recent high school graduate trying to figure out her path in the world.  She knows she’s going to college, but for what?  Her friends  Braelynn and Emory know what they want to do in life, but not her she is just a ordinary bisexual girl from Colorado.  Well ordinary but the dreams she’s been having since she was a kid.

Rhodes is the hot dude from down the road, along with his sister Rosamond they show Lyric that the world is not what it seems.

Ok if you have seen the cartoon or read the Manga The Last Air Bender you can kinda get the feel of the realm of Maison.  There are people that can use the four elements or more than one of them.  There is also a caste system with Queens, Kings, Lords, Ladies, and the lower class.

Ryan has done a excellent job bringing this new world of hers to life, it’s totally different for her but not really if that makes any sense at all.  The characters, other than having magic, are real as well as the Maison Realm.

It’s exciting to see Lyric, who thinks she’s nothing special just a average girl, find new things about herself and how strong she really is.

Couple things though, Emory is also Lyric’s ex as well as her friend, however, she seems like a real witch to me.  She’s not nice at all and seems to cause trouble and fights with everyone.  Two, I don’t think that Rhodes is what he seems to be besides a hot dude that show Lyric that humans are not alone and magic is real.  Oh, Oh, Oh and there is another guy Easton.  He’s suppose to be one of the bad guys but I get the feeling that there is more than just the attractiveness of a bad boy about him.

I can not wait until book 2, to find out more about this world and to see what kind of path that Lyric takes to become the person that she is meant to be.

#NewRelease #Review #SpinoffSeries #VCWarriors Nicole: The Mates Series (Book 1) by Teresa Gabelman

Nicole (The Mate Series) Book #1

Nicole Callahan, mate to fierce and brooding VC Warrior Damon DeMasters, has been trying to find her place in his world. Without a doubt, it’s been interesting, but she believes there’s a lot more she can offer the children she spent so much of her human life fighting for.

The Mate series delves into the kickass world of the Warriors’ mates and how united, they can make a difference—just like their badass Protectors. Follow along to see how these exceptional women’s newfound freedom affect those around them and which Warrior may or may not support their feisty independent mate’s new and exciting path.

Goodreads

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

Look out VC Warriors the Warriorettes are coming!!!! Lol!!!

Nicole is the first book in the VC Warrior Mates series and oh boy these ladies  love their alpha mates, but they aren’t taking it anymore!!!

Nicole heads back to work for Mitch are Social Services, without talking to Damon about it; hee, hee, hee, and does she have a doozy of a first day back.

First off I absolutely love that we are going to get more Warriors. Secondly, that we are going to get more from the women’s POV now that they have mated their men it’s going to be great.  If you have read the VC Warrior series you know that the Warriors are all alpha males that do not want their mates hurt in any way and they will say and do anything to keep it that way no matter how caveman it may seem.

Also, we know that these women are all very strong women; they also knew how their men were when they mated them, but no couple stays the same you either grow or crumble under the pressure and THAT is what we are going to see in this series.

Who will grow? Who will crumble? Please baby Jesus no one crumble, we will have to just see.

Our favorite Warriors and now Warriorettes have a new enemy too, one that we have never seen from Gabelman before and I think that it’s going be epic.

I can’t wait to see where we go next and fingers crossed none of our favorite couples crumble, don’t worry though if Jill and Slade crumble I’ll be there to console him. LOL

Teresa Gabelman is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the ‘Protectors Series’. When not writing about sexy alpha vampires and the women who drive them crazy she can be found on a lake with a fishing pole/Kindle, at a MMA event or spending a fun evening with family.

Being a full-time writer has allowed Teresa to connect more with readers which is what she loves most about writing. If you find the time she would love to hear from you!

#Review #Contemporary #HoP House of Payne:Ice (HoP book 8) by Stacy Gail

One year ago…
Sunny Fairfax, daughter of a former Chicago mayor, had been tops in the marketing game. She’d taken a tiny tattoo parlor, Skull and Bones Ink, and turned it into the most famous studio in California. Then the owner and unrequited love of her life, Atticus “Ice” Eisen, fired her.

One year ago…
Everyone thought Ice had it all—a privileged Beverly Hills background, a hot ink-slinging studio and a kickass reality TV gig. The truth? He’d hated most of it, especially that frigging show. The only reason he’d stuck with it was because of Sunny. Then shadows from his past closed in, and he’d had a choice—let the one thing he actually gave a damn about get destroyed, or sacrifice everything.

The way he saw it, the choice was easy.

Now…
Sunny’s stunned when Ice walks into her new life in Chicago. He’s the newest tattooist at House Of Payne, and no amount of dodging him works. Wherever she goes, he’s already there, ready to melt her panties with hot glances, hotter words and the hottest kisses she’s ever known. But none of it makes sense. Why had he fired her? And how can she trust him now?

The shadows are back, but Ice is a different man now. He’ll protect Sunny from the darkness that’s been dogging his steps every day of his debauched and useless life, and this time he has to destroy it. He has to, because when it comes to convincing Sunny he’s a man she can believe in, he’s on very thin ice.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

Soooo every time I see or here this title all that plays in my mind is “Ice, Ice, baby. “ Lol!!!!!

It’s Christmas in Shy town and we are back with the gang at HoP you know our favorite crazy tattoo artists!!! Man, I love these people…..

Any who, like I said we are back but with a few new people. Atticus “Ice” Eisen and Sunny Fairfax.

Sunny is a Chicago native and a PR whiz. After all it was mostly her that brought Ice’s California Tattoo shop Skull and Bones Ink to the most famous shop in Cali.  That is until Ice fired her on TV and a show that she started no less.

Since the firing a year ago she came back home, which is good because her dad a beloved ex mayor is in poor health, but bad because she is working at a place that is the exact opposite of the Ink world.

Now, Ice has been in town since the summer and has sold his shop and taken a job at HoP and is ready to get his Sunny Day back.  Yes he fired her, yes he did it in a horrible way, but he had his reasons.

Sparks everywhere with these two folks, all over the place. Lol, from the first “Why the Hell are you here” scene to the “I love you” scene  these guys kill it.  Throw in a slimy. black mailing, tabloid owning father and lots of secrets and BAM you got yourself one heck of a story.

What I love about most about Sunny and Ice is they are not a couple who met a few years ago, they have been in each other’s lives since Sunny was a teen, went to college together, worked together to build something from nothing, and yes loved each other.

Yes, Ice did some really crappy things, but we learn why and he had a great reason and thought he was doing the right thing.

We also learn secrets always get out, its better to get it out there then for it to be twisted to be used against you.

#NewRelease #Review #Contemporary #MontgomeryInk Jagged Ink (Montgomery Ink:Colorado Springs Branch) Carrie Ann Ryan

The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn’t know they needed.

Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn’t know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn’t know herself.

Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn’t know how to show her that he’s all in, and honestly doesn’t know if she’s in at all. When an accident changes everything, they’ll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.

Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

We have come to the end of the Colorado Springs branch of the Montgomery tree with Roxie and Carter’s story.

If you are new to Carrie Ann Ryan”s Montgomery clan don’t fret you won’t be lost as each book in the series is a stand alone story, reading the other stories isn’t mandatory it’s just plain FUN!!!

Roxie and Carter’s story is a little different because they are already married, but that marriage is coming to a end and it isn’t because of a lack of love.

Ryan shows us what a lack of communication does to a marriage with this one and boy does she just rip those heartstrings apart with it.  As I said a lack of love is not what drives these two, Roxie and Carter have soo much love for each other that it is a beautiful thing and seeing that fall apart is just awful, however there is a happy ending in sight.

Falling apart, divorce papers, and a blind date is the push that is needed (Wow that is one heck of a push) to get Carter to see that what they need is communication and to fight for them.

Only Ryan can rip you apart and put you back together with a nice little bow and introduce the next Montgomery Branch in one awesome story.  She also showed me that no matter what talk to your partner, no matter what it is or how you think you’re being strong for them by not talking, because in the end it will just end up hurting you both more.
