#WOTR – #Review – Refuge (Stone’s Wolf Sanctuary) Book #2 by Teresa Gableman

Refuge (Stone's Wolf Sanctuary) Book #2

Consumed with a need for revenge, Cole Jackson becomes blind to all he should hold dear. It’s not until vengeance has been carried out that he realizes what he’s almost lost.

After being brutally attacked, Leeza Snow, has kept her head up with her pride intact. What everyone doesn’t see is the shattered heart she conceals, not only from her pack but from the man she’s destined to be with.

While time can heal scars, it will take trust to offer a promise of a happy future.

Goodreads

Cole and Leeza! Love these two! Both of these characters are incredibly strong people. Leeza helping the pack adjust to Eric, the new Alpha, after her brother dies is amazing and Cole, being Eric’s younger brother but with Alpha tendencies, is hot! After a terrible attack where one of the pack members is raped the pack has overwhelming feelings of more or less being worthless since they weren’t able to protect one of their own. As some misunderstandings are dealt with we get to see more into Leeza’s and Cole’s emotions for one another. Leeza is not looking for an alpha and Cole is totally alpha. Trying to adjust to these different emotions between the two is intense as they are both dealing with their own demons. Some tragedies come at a price but seeing how the pack comes together to protect their own is super inspiring. When push comes to shove we find out what everyone’s true colors are. The story will suck you in and keep a hold of you right to the very end. I am sooooo looking forward to the next!

#WOTR18 #DualReview #TwinsieForTheDayJordan – Stolen Kisses by Elena M. Reyes

Stolen Kisses

Four years of celibacy have turned Hunter Miles into a predator—a dangerous man. He’s horny. Hard. And coming home from college, he never expected to find Bailey Jones so tempting.
It’s an instant infatuation.
She’s the one woman he shouldn’t want—his little sister’s best friend. The last time he saw her she was a knobby-kneed little girl, but what welcomed him home was all woman—her decadent curves and a flirtatious smile tossed at him each time they are within arm’s reach.
She’s tempting.
Pushing.
Offering up her body to a man hanging by a very thin thread.
Fuck the consequences. He wanted her, and she was going to be in his bed by the end of the week.

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

ANNND I want to have this mans babies!!! LOL  Did that get your attention?  Does it make you want to know why?  Did you make you one click this book?  Well it should because you will agree with me after reading!!

Bailey and Hunter have grown up together.  Bailey is his sister’s bestie.  Hunter being 4 years older than Bailey didn’t think twice when it came time to escape to college but leaving Bailey behind caused her little 14-year-old heart to be a bit bruised.

Hunter has some feelings for Bailey but it was time for him to get and her to grow.  They two have some intense feelings for one another but 4 years comes, and Hunter is back.  He hasn’t been able to forget that one stolen kiss 4 years ago.  When he returns he is all about getting the girl.

I loved the story and how they chemistry between the two builds and builds between the two.  They have a love that couldn’t be fizzled after being apart for 4 years.  Now if people would just get outta the dang way!!!

Review by Jordan

This was such a great twist on your typical teenage crush on your best friend’s brother. Hunter is totally drool worthy with an air of the boy next door. I instantly fell for him. Seriously…. can someone find him for me? Bailey is the girl next door that doesn’t know how pretty she is and has been head over heels for Hunter Miles forever. They are two parts of a whole and their romance started with a simple stolen kiss. I didn’t want to put this story down and you won’t either. It’s sweet and romantic. Have I mentioned how drool worthy Hunter is?

She now resides in Central Florida with her husband and son, spending all her down time letting her creativity flow and letting characters grow.

#WOTR18 #AuthorSpotlight – Attending Author Amanda Mariel @AmandaMarieAuth

Amanda Mariel

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Amanda Mariel: USA Today Bestselling author Amanda Mariel dreams of days gone by when life moved at a slower pace. She enjoys taking pen to paper and exploring historical time periods through her imagination and the written word. When she is not writing she can be found reading, crocheting, traveling, practicing her photography skills, or spending time with her family.

When and Why did you start to write?

I took a creative writing class in college during which I had to write a short story. The assignment called for a YA story and much to my surprise I really enjoyed it. After the class ended I decided that I wanted to try my hand at writing a full book. The assignment was for a very short 10k novella. I also wanted to write historical not YA. It took a few years before I actually wrote my first book, but once it was done, I was hooked. My first book, Scandalous Endeavors, was published December 21, 2015.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

My favorite must read author is Lisa Kleypas. I devour everything she puts out. I also love Johanna Lindsey, Tessa Dare, and Sarah McLean.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

That I am my own worst critic. I think everything I write is the worst and will sink my career. I seriously get a stomach ache when I release a new book. Once reviews start rolling in, I feel better though and am always amazed, surprised, and grateful for the readers who love my books. On a side note, I have trained myself to ignore the inevitable bad reviews. I remind myself that not everyone will like every book/author and then put it out of my mind.

What are you working on now?

I have several books in the works: Scandalous Liaison which is the final book in my Ladies and Scoundrels series, More Than a Lady which is my first stab at medieval romance and great fun, and a group project that has me writing a novella about twins with a touch of special power set during the sixteen hundreds.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I do both. It depends on the project and how alive it is in my head. Sometimes I have a full plot and develop it before writing. Other times I have a vague idea, maybe a chapter or two in my imagination and I write them then plot the rest. Once in a while I just write and see what happens.

★Excerpt★

Prologue

Brett

Our world ended when she came into our lives. No control. No power. Just heartbreak and unwanted submission. We were forced to our knees at the sight of her. The words falling from her lips were like nails digging at our soul because we knew there was no way out of this.

It wasn’t her fault. None of it was. She was a lowly pawn in this fucked up world we called life. There was nothing any of us could do but wait.

Ever since I was a small boy, I had made it my mission to be in control of everything around me. My career. Women. Sex. Money. Alcohol. I strived to be an asshole so no one could get into my heart.

And then she appeared.

Short. Blonde, curly hair. Deep blue eyes that looked into my very soul and knew my secrets before I ever told her.

Evvie Neal was my one, my only.

I tried so hard to be in control when really, she was the Master and I was the ever-willing slave. She captured my heart, reached inside my chest and brought it back to life just by the sound of her laugh.

But as soon as we were happy, as soon as we let our guard down, the foundation of our love cracked.

We worked damn hard for it and I would do everything in my power to build up the walls of our love and make her happy again.

Even if it meant leaving.

For good.

★Synopsis★

It started without trust. Passion. Lust. An all-consuming need; that was all we had in the beginning.

Lies. Betrayal. Deceit. We moved past it all and fell in love anyway.

Over ten years later, with a family of our own, our little world was perfect. Happy.

But then that happiness faded away when she came into our lives.

No control. No power. Just heartbreak and unwanted submission.

We were forced to our knees at the sight of her. The words falling from her lips were like nails digging at our soul because we knew.

We would have to go through hell to get out of this.

And even then, I wasn’t sure if it would be enough.

#WOTR18 #AttendingAuthor – Author Spotlight of Vivian Ward @AuthorVivian

Vivian Ward

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Vivian Ward and I’m a bookaholic, chocoholic, wine-loving wife, mom, friend, and romance writer. I’m a full-time writer but when I’m not writing, I’m usually cooking, cleaning, helping the kids with homework, or playing with our two dogs.

My grandma was a huge influence in my life, and I owe everything to her. She taught me to always shoot for the stars and to stay in school. Because of her, I am strong and independent, which is how I write my heroines. My favorite color is purple, and my hometown is St. Louis. You will always see these two things in every book that I write.

I love meeting new people and try to make friends everywhere I go. I will never give up writing because my stories are my life. I love conjuring up interesting characters and unique situations. I also like hearing from my readers, so if you’re reading this, DROP ME A LINE AND SAY HI!

When and Why did you start to write?

I actually went to medical school but before I could graduate, I found out that I was pregnant and was about six months along when I finished school. Family always come first, so I looked for alternative ways to use my medical knowledge and started writing medical articles for LIVESTRONG.com (under a pseudonym). When my contract ended, I was sad because I loved writing but, unfortunately, they could not renew it.

I began writing short stories. Okay, I’ll be honest. I wrote SEXY short stories FOR my husband. He FLOVED them! He encouraged me to keep writing (what guy wouldn’t?), so I did and I had a lot of fun with it!

I didn’t start publishing on Amazon until 2013 and when I did, I published short, erotic stories. Around 2015, I decided to try my hand at longer works because I wanted to write romance novels, but I was scared. My sexy shorts (that’s what I called my short stories) sold like hot cakes, but romance novels? It was intimidating. There is some SERIOUS competition out there!

I bought HUNDREDS of dollars of reference books. Some old, some new. I studied and read, for almost three months straight. I did TONS of research and felt like I was back in college. It still wasn’t enough, so I watched so many videos and downloaded plot sheets. I must’ve sat at the kitchen table for hours and hours every week as I practiced plotting before I finally published my first novel.

Writing longer works was definitely a challenge, but I’m so glad that I forced myself to step up to the next level. I believe that writing is a very rewarding career.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

I read a wide range of authors, and recommendations vary based on what my friends/readers are looking for. My favorite contemporary romance book is Arsen: A Broken Love Story by Mia Asher. My favorite dark romance book (right now) is Sick Fux by Tillie Cole. Believe it or not, I like reading Amish romance stories, too, but those aren’t my “favorite” or “go to”. Those are nice when I’m in a book hangover after my dark romance characters are put through the ringer.

I also like reading dystopians, thrillers (Gone Girl is my FAVE!), autobiographies and books about cults (don’t judge…..they fascinate the hell out of me). I’m sure that I’m probably forgetting other genres that I read, but I mostly read romance.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

What I find surprising is that I can write until the minute I sit down to do my blurb. Words cease to exist in my vocabulary when it comes time to write a catchy description that captivates readers and pulls them in.

Other than that, I’ve found ways to tighten up my writing, which I’m always working on. It’s not an easy task. There are some authors who think of (and remember!) everything in their book. I can’t tell you how many times my characters start off with honey-colored eyes and end up with jaded gems.

What are you working on now?

Right now, I’m working The Risky Series. It’s a trilogy and the second book is due at the end of March and the last installment is due at the end of April.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

A little of both. I like to somewhat plot to get an idea of where the story is headed but I find that if I plot the entire book, I get very bored with the story, I feel like my characters are limited, and I lose interest because I feel “confined” like I have to write it “just like this.”

I prefer to let my characters take me on THEIR journey, just as long as we hit those key points. It’s okay if they don’t like each other for a minute. It’s okay if they changed some of the storyline or setting. I’d rather be truly creative and let the story flow as I write it, and tighten it up during editing.

#WOTR18 #AttendingAuthor – Author Spotlight Evan Grace

Evan Grace

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Evan Grace, I’m a married 41 year old mom to two boys and one furbaby. When I’m not writing I work for a large home healthcare agency, and spend my weekends bossing nurses around :). I love to read when I have time, and worship Kristen Ashley, Aurora Rose Reynolds, Kaylee Ryan, and love CA Harms! I’m a suck for cheesy disaster flicks, and I’m a die hard Walking Dead fan. I’ve also watched The Office from beginning to end over ten times. I’m a weightlifter, it’s my stress releaser and only run if someone is chasing me. I love music and listen to anything but new country, it’s just not my jam. I do love 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music the best.

When and Why did you start to write?

8 1/2 years ago I worked in a labor and delivery unit, and had been a massive reader. like the librarians at my library new me by name. A thought came to me and I thought “hey that could be a book” A friend of mine said “lets write” so her and I both started our books. I finished mine and it was garbage, but I love it. Then I got the idea of Starting Over my first published book. It took three years and multiple rewrites before I finally got it published. I write because I love creating these stories that I hope speak to others, and I’ve got to do something with all of the voices in my head.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

I read Kristen Ashley, Aurora Rose Reynolds, CA Harms, Kaylee Ryan, Meghan Quinn, Suzanne Wright, Joanna Wylde, Shayla Black, Jewel E. Ann, HJ Bellus, Natasha Madison.

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

hmmmm….just how helpful other authors have been.

What are you working on now?

Book 1 in a new series, tentatively called Tales of a Tomboy.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

I plot a general idea, but I’m a pantser
