#WOTR19 – #Review – The Arbiter (Divinely Damned #1) by K.B. Everly and Brandy Slaven

#WOTR19 attending author BRANDY SLAVEN

The Arbiter (Divinely Damned, #1)

“She is too sinful to be Divine
and too righteous to be Damned.”

Nocturna; a hybrid, an all around smart ass, and the owner of The Apothecary, a night club for all the denizens that walk the earth to play amongst humans, is about to have her life altered by the Creator of all.

The last Arbiter has fallen and a new one must be chosen, one of both Divine and Damned blood. She will be both judge and executioner for the supernatural races, choosing how to punish or bless the souls brought before her.

Within her first week with her new status, Damned from all over are disappearing and disturbing videos of Damned being tortured and killed are surfacing. When Lord Monroe, one of The Infernal leaders of the Damned, becomes one of those who are missing, the Damned begin to point their fingers at The Rites; the Divine soldiers who are part of The Order of Abel. The clock is ticking, and it is her responsibility to find who is responsible and pass judgement. With the help of Enoch, an Infernal of the Damned, and Larkan, a Rite of the Order, Nocturna travels to Lord Monroe’s estate, hoping to find clues as to what happened to him and all the others.

Her integrity and her heart will be pushed and pulled in all directions as she faces the biggest dilemma of her existence; can she make the decision that is right for the lives of all, not the decision that is easiest for her. Will she stay true and lead the world into peace? Or will she choose sides like all the Arbiters before her and lead them all to destruction?

**This is a Reverse Harem Dark Romance that is recommended for ages 18+. There are elements of violence, such as torture and a body count, and steamy scenes that are sure to light you on fire. If you’re into that sort of thing, then boy do we have the book for you!

Goodreads

First, the cover of this book is amazing! Second, the premise of the story is incredible! Third, I can’t wait for the sequel!

“There’s always a fine line between everything. Love and hate. Cruelty and compassion. Pure and tainted. Light and dark. Most fail on either side of the spectrum within black or white, but none fall on that line that flows through the grey areas. No one is a perfect balance of all those things.”

This is what the Arbiter is supposed to be. Nocturna is a half breed. Half Divine and half Damned. There are very few halfies in the world and the Creator chooses one to be the Arbiter. The Arbiter is judge and jury over the Damned and Divine. Nocturna believes in a place that both beings can be themselves as long as nobody breaks the rules. She has created a sort of sanctuary for both within her club, The Apothecary. One eventful night and her world is rocked when she becomes the Arbiter. She finds that a past love and heartbreak, Enoch, is part of the Infernal who are the leaders of the Damned. She falls for Monroe, another leader of the Infernal. And has an incredible bond with Larkan, a Rite with the Divine. As they find out that Damned have been abducted and tortured they all find that they are part of the bigger picture and need to save these souls and stop the torturing. At the same time we are finding that not everyone on their team are loyal and their are traitors in the midst. Monroe ends up being captured, one of her dearest friends are abducted and her friend’s husband has been killed. Nocturna has to turn herself over to the bad guys in order to try and save the ones she love. And all the men in her life are going to be needed to keep her balanced between the Divine and the Damned.

This is a dark paranormal reverse harem story that is very intriguing. There is a lot going on within the big picture. It is dark and mysterious and is intense on the emotions evoked. It seemed to me like there was a lot of world building going on but some things were missed or rushed. Some of the characters were a little underdeveloped in my opinion. There was always just something out of reach. Overall though, I really enjoyed the story. There is a cliffhanger and I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to see how the story develops. It’s a wicked start to what I am sure will be an intense series!

#Review – Blood King: Revamping the Monarchy (The Heart Nebula Book 3) by Ava Cuvay

Blood King: Revamping the Monarchy (The Heart Nebula Book 3)

Dracula was an upstart nobody from an alien race of bloodsuckers… Kaz just met the planet’s King.

Kazandra Lyon’s failed life sucks. But her vacation to a popular destination-planet sucks on a whole new level when she’s abducted and whisked off to a dark castle mired in twilight. She struggles against the attacks of a bloodthirsty monster and her growing attraction to the sexy and mysterious vampire king. Amidst murdered palace staff, political power struggles, and the king’s blood-searing seduction, has Kaz bitten off too much? Will she return to the unhappy safety of her failed life or stick her neck out and embrace a future with the lusty king who thirsts for her?
Away from his homeworld for far too long, King Rune Lahdunae’s political influence has weakened and his vision for his people is now a relic from a bygone era. He struggles to regain his royal standing as monarch, resurrect his race’s proud heritage, and keep his randy fangs off his beautiful guest. Yet Kazandra’s spirit and humor arouses a hunger in him more primal than the need for her life-giving blood. Can he entice her to remain as his honored guest… and possibly his wife? And can he thwart the relentless killer who is drinking his people dry before Kazandra becomes the next victim?

“Blood King: Revamping the Monarchy” is Book 3 in The Heart Nebula Series. Like it’s interstellar namesake, The Heart Nebula Series is a loosely-connected cluster of stand-alone Romantic Sci-fi stories with sassy heroines, gutsy heroes, passion and adventures set in a galaxy far, far away. In essence, it’s the stuff of stars.

Goodreads

We have all been at a point in our life where we just need to get away from it all. Kaz decides to go to a popular destination-planet to relax and unwind. This place just sucks! Literally and figuratively. She is at a spring break type of place and she is kidnapped and taken to the other side of the planet that no one goes to just for fun. She is placed in the dungeon and is fed on by a monster. She is finally freed by King Rune and his way of apologizing is to have her spend her vacation at his palace. Rune has been brought back to life after 1000 years of being gone to find that his home has been run into the ground. He has yet to figure out exactly why he has been brought back and is struggling a lot with getting the monarchy back under control, dealing with murders in the palace, falling for Kaz and the fact that he is hiding exactly who he is to her. With all of this going on, Kaz is being herself, everyone loves her, and she is falling in love with Rune. The two of them have a lot of inner conflict within themselves and are so different from the other. But opposites attract and the two of the complement each other so well. The only thing is that they both have to be honest with each other and once the honesty is let out will they be able to be together? There is a ton of craziness happening at the palace when Rune hosts a ball of sorts. There is a death and kidnapping. Kaz finds herself in the middle of another mess and when the bad guy is figured out…..well lets just say oh holy hell because I so didn’t see this coming. I knew there was something fishy going on but when the twist unravels, it’s epic!!!! Blood King pulls you into the story and is the type of story that will constantly have you trying to guess what the hell is going on. And when the bread crumbs finally fell into place I was speechless! The sexy king will have you rooting for him and seeing how Kaz’s wittiness and no nonsense attitude brings him out of his shell will make you fall in love with this story. Well done, Ava Cuvay! Bravo!!!!

#Review – Refrain: A Vampire Blood Courtesan Romance by Susan Griscom

Refrain: A Vampire Blood Courtesan Romance

One fateful night changed my life forever and brought secrets to light I never could have imagined, leaving me parentless, penniless, and caring for an ailing sister. My father was not the man I thought I knew, and his greed and sickness have left me with virtually nothing to use to care for my sister and get her the treatments she needs to maybe one day walk again. And now, we might lose our house, as well.

Luckily, an ad in the paper helps me regain some hope. I have something to barter with that not many courtesans have, after all, and it just might be enough to earn what’s needed to secure my future as a successful Blood Courtesan. My first client turns out to be the man of my dreams, the sexy-as-sin vampire rock star I’ve lusted after since I was a teen, but he wants nothing to do with me or what I have to offer.

My father’s misdeeds continue to haunt me and I’m left with only one option: I need to make the talented and headstrong Lyric Rivers desire me, or lose everything. Maybe even my life.

The Blood Courtesans Series, where vampires are real, rich, powerful–and hungry.
Blood is bought and sold like fine wine, and the best blood goes to the highest bidder.

It’s not supposed to be about love … until it is.

Originally published in the Blood Courtesans Boxed Set: Awakenings.

Goodreads

Vampires! Yes! It’s so hard to take a vampire story and make it unique. I often find that there is a lot of monotony with them. But this is hardly the case for the Blood Courtesans. In this world vampires are real and out in the open. They are normal people like you and me but they drink blood…maybe they are not what you consider completely normal, lol! Neriza is our female lead in Refrain. She lost her parents in a horrible car accident and this accident has left her sister paralyzed. Neriza is the sole provider for herself and her sister along with taking care of her parent’s debt. She decides to apply to be a Blood Courtesan. She tries to do this quietly as her uncle doesn’t agree with vampires paying for blood. Basically she gets rented for sex and blood. She has a unique quality about her that makes her a bit more valuable and she is accepted right away. She is essentially “rented” by Lyric (through his assistant) so that she can go on tour with the band and keep him sustained. Lyric happens to be the lead singer of the band Crimson Rivers, also her childhood crush, also a total hottie with an accent! He wants her gone and gone ASAP! She can’t figure out why so she puts all of her effort into getting him to keep her so that she is not in trouble with the Madame at the agency. As these two are learning to work together she gets some terrible news and finds that her dad was in the middle of some shady dealings, and here is where the real fun begins. Neriza and Lyric do form a friendship and confide in each other about their pasts. As things heat up both of their pasts come to the present and we find that the world may not be as large as we all thought. I can’t give you ANY more of the story without giving away tons of spoilers. The intensity between Lyric and Neriza with the witty banter is enough to make you want to read the book. But all the crazy twists in between are what makes this story amazing!

#WOTR18 – #Review – Witch For Hire (Witch For Hire #1) by Shyla Colt

Witch For Hire (Witch For Hire #1)

Young, terrified, and bound to a vampire, Louella Eschete fled the bayou and swore off magic. Years later, she’s returned to the tiny town of Cypress, Louisiana to take her rightful place as head of her magical family, whether she likes it or not.

In order to keep the tentative peace formed between the various races of powerful beings who rule side by side, she must face her own demons. Mainly one, Cristobal Cortez. Now a master vampire, and lord of the seven cities surrounding New Orleans, her former lover has moved up in the world. Their relationship gets way more complicated when his court is framed for a rash of murders they didn’t commit.

Forced to play her role as his bond mate, and launch an investigation into the darkness threatening to overturn truces, she may be in over her head.

Goodreads

Witches, vampires, and the bayou…oh my! Ok, enough with the silliness…I loved Witch For Hire! So long story short, Louella has run away from home due to some….”issues”…  Lou is from a family line of witches that are in the upper echelon of witch society. Her family is very respected. She has been gone long enough and things make her return home but she is in for a treat when she returns. Her family is being pulled apart as no one agrees on anything. Cristobal, her ex but not ex love, is the top Vamp in the area. She has some friends that have pulled away from their families. And now Lou struts back into town expected to do as everyone believes she should but one thing that we don’t get from Lou is that she is going to do what she thinks and feels is right. And boooooy does this cause some problems everywhere. She has to play her role in two different societies and also is working Witch For Hire to help others. Louella and her supporting characters are extremely funny and pissy all at the same time. Louella is an extremely easy character to relate to (even if we aren’t witches, lol). She struggles with the same crap we all do with society, friends, family, and foes…only on a supernatural level with intense twists and turns. Witch for Hire pulled me in with it’s promise of witches and gave me so much more! The characters are witty, snide, and relatable. The world building is on point. And the story…was very witchy!!!!! Shyla Colt is a new author for me and I am looking forward to reading more!

#WOTR – #Review – Claiming Jade by Teresa Gabelman

Claiming Jade

Jade Wilder finds herself standing in the office of Elite Crime Unit because pixies are after her brother. Yes, you heard right. Pixies! Mean, ruthless, evil pixies. Her house has been ransacked, her brother is now missing, and she needs help.

Goodreads

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Claiming Jade is fantasy brought to life! Claiming Jade? How about I am claiming Drake! Haha! This is one of those insta-love type stories but the way these two push and pull at each other is hilarious! I love how the author can give us a great storyline but add the wit and charm that will make me smile throughout the whole story.

For Jade it was incredibly difficult to ask for help from the paranormal community. But when she does I don’t think she expected that she was in as much danger as she actually is. Now she has Drake to deal with. He is an incredibly fierce half elf that has an intense attraction to Jade that she is more than happy to reciprocate. Reading along and seeing how Drakes comrades all interact with him and how he can be a big softy is super sweet. This is a fast paced story with lots of ups and downs… but absolutely, never a dull moment! If you want something to lift your spirits, make you smile, get a little hot and action packed, then Claiming Jade is a great read!

#Review – Scorch Song (Firebloods #2) by Casey Hays

Scorch Song (Firebloods, #2)

It took one week to turn 17-year-old Jude Gallagher’s life on its head. She finally understands the meaning behind the ring, the last gift her father gave her before his death. She’s surrendered her heart to the one boy who will keep it safe, and she’s uncovered the mystery of the heated music that thrums through her blood like a second life. That should be enough problem-solving for a lifetime.

But the summer is just beginning.

When Kane O’Reilly gets himself into serious trouble with the Fireblood Contingent, Jude will risk everything to save him. And to do it, she must learn to trust the word of a Fireblood who wants her for himself.

Enter the world of the Firebloods in this sizzling sequel.

Goodreads

Searing sequel!  Scorch Song picks up right where Firebloods leaves off, so yay! Jude’s life has literally been turned upside down and nothing is as it seems. As she is learning more about her nature and Firebloods more questions come out. As she has only had one person, Kane, to guide her she feels comfortable. But when Rylin approaches her knowing a ton about Firebloods things really get confusing and heated! The journey that Jude goes on throughout this story is intense. She has to learn about herself and her own feelings about what the meaning of right and wrong is, but also to ultimately pick sides. I can’t tell you about the story, no matter how much I really (really, really, really) want to because I can’t spoil it. But this author has a way with words that make you feel and see this world through Jude’s eyes. So much that you really will feel like you are there. And every emotion that this author wants you to feel…well, rest assured, you are gonna feel them! Jude’s journey is a lot of self-discovery but she also finds that things are never what they seem. A new character will be introduced that we seen, for a small moment, in Firebloods but is going to make a huge impact on the story and Jude’s life.  I cannot tell you enough how much you need to reach Scorch Song. But first read Firebloods! Bravo, Casey Hays, nothing cold about this one!

#New Release – #Review – Gen One by Amy Bartelloni

Gen One

Generations after robots conquered Earth, the remaining population survives in the ash of their defeat. Within their walls in Authority City, bots test and develop super soldiers. Rumors of horrible experiments are enough to keep humans in line. At least, most humans.

Eighteen-year-old Delilah O’Connor scavenges the ruins with her friend Zane, and Gen, a generation one bot they repaired off the grid. Gen’s curiosity gives Delilah hope for the future, but not enough hope to go against the Authority. She finds Zane’s dreams of a human resistance pointless, and it’s enough to keep their on-and-off relationship mostly off.

When they discover two dead guards in a shady trading stop known as the Banks, everything changes. Framed for the murders and pursued by Authority bots, Zane takes Delilah to the only safe space he knows—the headquarters for the Human Coalition. Even there Zane isn’t safe. When he’s captured, Delilah and Gen must join an unlikely alliance of bot and human to go in to Authority City and save him before he becomes another casualty. Things in Authority City aren’t as they seem, they’re worse. And Delilah might lose more than her friend within its walls.

Goodreads

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Sometimes you had to get dirty to survive. It was a trick she’d learned in the Banks.” This is a post apoc thriller full of the human spirit along with super bots that may have souls. Delilah’s life goes from a life of plain grimness scavenging in the outer lying areas with her best friends Zane and Gen (a generation one bot) to being an outlaw with everyone trying to kill her. Her life just went from one extreme to the next. After she and Zane find a couple of bodies that were murdered she is abruptly brought into the life of the human coalition and once she is in and understands what they are fighting for she has no other desire but to join them after Zane has been taken. Zane has been trying to protect her and not have her get in the middle of the fighting between the humans and the bots but now that she is in she comes to the realization that this is bigger than her and she must fight to help save humanity for the humans and bots alike. She has come to realize that some of the bots may have souls as she sees this with Gen everyday with her curious nature and human feelings. Not all bots are bad. Delilah has a dormant strength that comes out in full force as she is forced to decide what the right thing to do is. She goes from being fragile and needing protection to being a brave and fearless protector. The transformation was amazing! There is tons of action as they have to infiltrate Authority City where the bots reside and maintain the rule over humans. As they are basically planning a suicide mission they have to get as much intel as possible. As more of the plan comes forth she finds that more people are involved than she ever thought they would. It is so full of twists and turns that you absolutely have to keep reading just to get to the next part and find out what else is going to happen. I can’t tell you any more about the actual story because I don’t want to give anything away but the plot twist is INSANE!

The author does an amazing job with the world building and character building as well. This is one of those stories that you can’t help but being able to feel like you are there right in the middle of the action. You start to feel like you really know the characters and that they are real.  The emotions run strong and are heartfelt. The story is rather mind-boggling and a little scary (in a good way) because it makes you think about all of the what-ifs as our technology advances….just something to think about, haha! The end of the story is set up perfectly for a second book. Amy Bartelloni is a new author for me and she has me hooked! I can’t wait to see what happens next. Bravo!

#Review – Ravens in the End: Book Two in the Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Epic (The End Saga – 2) by C.L. Zelle

Ravens in the End: Book Two in the Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Epic (The End Saga - 2)

Sex, power, control, Yes—that’s the name of the game now.

Or, wait—maybe it’s always been that. But is this what Vine had in mind when he conned billions into injecting his lies? Was this end game part of his master plan all along? Now, the whole world is his, and it was way too easy. He’s the liar’s liar, the ultimate gamemaker, the grand wizard behind the curtain that would snuff the light of the world out in a single day.

And I helped him do it.

My name is Gideon Tyler, and I’m a liar, too. But it’s not who I am anymore. I once believed love made a man weak, but my love for Grace makes me strong in ways I’m not used to. Strong enough to break free from the compliance; strong enough to be defiant. Strong enough to risk my life for what’s right, despite who I was before, and the mistakes I’ve made.

But dying isn’t on the agenda today.

I have unfinished business to attend to. I wanted to tell Grace the truths of my past because I love her, but she’s already so damn wounded. How could I hurt her more? I didn’t want to . . . But it’s too late now. My lies caught up with us, took me away from her, and now she’s alone out there, and in more danger than she realizes. The undead are the least of her worries—as screwed up as that is. They’re saints compared to these monsters. But I’ll do what it takes to save her, my songbird, my phoenix. I’ll keep her safe. I’ll wear the mask of a monster, the man I was before, make them believe I’m compliant, reformed, I’ll tell more lies.

I’ll put a stop to their games once and for all, and we’ll survive, fly free from the depths of this hell. We’ll find each other in the dark again, because love is our light, our strength, and it’s strong enough to win this game. . .
in the end.

* * * * *

This is the second book in The End Saga (formerly The Night Blind Saga). If you read the books formerly titled Dysphoria and Grace, Murray’s Law, and Tunnels and Planes, then this would be the next installment of the story for you. Those three books have now been combined into one full story, which is the new first book of the series, titled “Willows in the End.” This series will appeal to those who don’t mind some diverse adult content in their reading. Due to certain triggers, this series may not be suitable for everyone, and is advised for ages 18 and up.

Goodreads

The truth? You can’t handle the truth! The games have begun! I honestly can’t tell you if I liked Willows in the End or Ravens in the End better. They are soooooo different and soooooo incredible! I mean honestly, sometimes sequels can’t live up to the originals but Ravens is standing tall!

Willows was the story told from Grace’s point of view. Ravens is Gideon’s point of view. Ravens starts right where Gideon and Grace were ambushed at the church and Gideon was taken. A LOT of questions about Gideon are answered in this installment and boy you better hold on because he has been through the ringer. You will see a side of Gideon that is going to piss you off and another part that is going to have you rooting for him right to the very end. In Willows we know that Gideon was closed off about his past, not necessarily telling lies but definitely omitting information. In Ravens he is placed right back into his own personal hell. Here he will have to continue the charade of the old Gideon with more lies and acting. He has a lot of turmoil because, even though he knows some of his actions and words are lies, they are coming way too easy to him. Almost as if he doesn’t trust himself with the truth. But one thing that Gideon does know is that he has to find Grace. He has to find the woman that made him want to live again. Here is the only spoiler that I will give. He does find Grace and has to watch her make some really difficult decisions. But when I say he finds her, that is really all he does. He can’t actually get to her….yet. He has had to make some very difficult decisions as well and you will see why, more than ever, they need to find each other.

The End Saga is very raw. It’s full of turmoil and twisted emotions. Along with the characters dealing with the virus that has given us the zombies they also have to deal with the actual human villain that uses his brain and his own crazy logic to justify what is being done to all these children and women. The End Saga is super intense, very emotional, and beautifully raw. An absolute must read!

Rozelle’s writing roots sprouted with poetry and prose in countless journals in her early years, continuing through her tumultuous teenage years, and well into her turbulent young adult life. Though her younger self dreamed of scribing non-fiction and poetry someday, when she discovered the magic in creating fiction she never looked back. Overcoming countless obstacles of her own, the wisdom gained along her personal path through healing breathes life into her beautifully dark, yet hopeful tales of triumph. Filled with an array of emotional triggers, not many topics are off limits in her works. Rozelle’s exceptional storytelling dives deep into the survival and growth journeys of diverse, broken characters and unlikely heroes. Authentic, gritty, intricate, and wildly imaginative, her stories also offer hope—a light in the dark—as her characters discover their own inner strengths and worth in the midst of debilitating adversity.

Though her wanderlust calls her to a nomadic life of traveling the world in planes, trains, ships, and RVs, Christina happily resides in a small town in Texas, USA, with her four wonderful children, three rescue kitties, and a rescue puppy, where she’s blessed to be able to do what she loves every day.

#WOTR – #Review – A Touch of Frost by Terry Maggert

A Touch of Frost

Gideon Frost is the last survivor of Ravenwood, an orphanage scheduled for destruction at the hands of a vicious politician. Over the past century, hundreds of children have vanished, lost forever to witches who use their souls as fuel for life everlasting.

On the run and alone, he’ll find help in an unlikely place, when the missing children reach out to him from the land of the dead, asking him for the one thing he can deliver.

Justice.

But Gideon won’t fight alone. Samira Alexander is a sorceress who can bridge the worlds between life and death, and she’ll stand beside him as they fight against the killers who want far more than just Gideon’s silence.

They want his power. They want his soul. But Gideon won’t give up either without a fight, and the witches of Ravenwood are about to learn a painful lesson.

Goodreads

A Touch of Frost is a super creepy story with plenty of greed and magic to go around. This is an intense story between good and bad, light and dark, and the battles between both. Gideon is the last orphan from Ravenwood and has been hiding since he “escaped”. He has barely been making it and barely getting by while hiding on the grounds of Ravenwood. Then one night, he has been found. But not just by anyone but by a ghost. Actually the ghosts of Ravenwood. He has never belonged to himself and has found a purpose by trying to help the ghosts. Then we get the villains. The ones who kill to continue life as they please, the bad witches. Marina is a witch who is trying to cover up the past of Ravenwood as her mother was the one responsible for it’s demise. As the Society gets involved to help Gideon, the witches are moving forward to get stronger. Again, it’s down to good versus evil and who will come out on top. Overall this is a very intriguing story but it moves slower than I expected. It took me a while to figure out what part Gideon and the Society were going to take in this and exactly how the witch coven would come into play as well. But as the story moved forward it all came out and we are left with a need to want more of this story and to see what direction it is going to go in. I am definitely intrigued and am looking forward to book 2. I need to know more about Gideon’s story and exactly how he is going to play a part in the future installments.

#WOTR – #Review – The True Death by R.K. Gleason

The True Death (The True Death Series, #1)

Headed for some well-deserved shore leave, Shepard is gunned down in the streets of Seattle, a victim of “a mugging gone stupid”. He awakens, not in a hospital bed, but in the surreal world of Purgatory.

Within seconds of his arrival, he is saved from a gruesome and painful end, by his new best friend Horace. That’s Quintus Horatius Flaccus, the philosopher, to you Roman history buffs. Horace explains to Shepard the cold, hard rules for surviving in Purgatory. More than just the walls have ears, and he’s not sure how long Shepard will last.

Goodreads

This is a sensationally twisted roller coaster in Purgatory! I loved every page of this story. It is full of…..IT….of everything! I often found myself laughing out loud, literally, and reading passages to my husband (and he is NOT a reader) and he would laugh along or ask me “what the hell are you reading?”  because he couldn’t believe the things that were coming out of this story (in the best possible way). By the way, I could totally picture The True Death as a movie. When Shephard dies he ends up in Purgatory and Horace finds him and gives him a quick rundown of the rules as to not end in a true death. As with people in the living realm, there are jickholes in Purgatory. Horace, with the help of Matthew, have made it their purpose to help those who end up in Purgatory so they can live in peace and not end up with a true death. Shepard takes on this role when Horace saves him. As the story continues these two just can’t stay out of trouble. They are definitely trouble magnets, haha! They ultimately get their noses put in places that they probably shouldn’t be and the real villain makes himself known. This story gets under your skin! It’s gory, it’s freaking hilarious, and wrong on so many levels, LOL! It’s one of those trainwreck type things that you just can’t get enough of. You have to turn the page and find out what is going to happen and just when you think things can’t get any more screwed up….well, they do. Even in the worst situations Horace and Shepard try to make things light and are still going back and forth with their witty banter. This is an absolute, don’t screw yourself over, must read! I am thankful that I found RK a little late as there are plenty in the series that are out. I can’t wait to see what other types of crazy shenanigans these two are capable of getting into…these trouble magnets will absolutely keep you on your toes! Bravo, RK Gleason! You have a new fan!

R.K. Gleason

R.K. Gleason was born in Grand Island, Nebraska in 196-something. He grew up, and spent most of his adult life living in Seattle. In late 1999, he met the love of his life, left his home in Seattle and moved to Ohio. Currently, R.K. lives in Columbus, Ohio with his best friend, and gorgeous wife, Petra. They have four children, currently two grandchildren, and ABSOLTELY no pets.

While R.K. grew up with a naturally vivid imagination, although his friends might argue some of it was self-induced, he seldom put his thoughts to paper. At the age of forty-eight, after the inspiration came to him in a dream, he began his first novel. On that day, The Truth Death and The Michele Shepard Series came to life.
