Wow! This….I can’t form the words to explain how good this book is. It is so suspenseful and quite the page turner! Incredibly intense with tons of action and angst between Josh and Macki will keep you turning the pages. Macki is a former vice cop and Josh is part of OPAQUE. Everyone thinks OPAQUE is a security firm but little does everyone know that OPAQUE is out fighting the bad guys, Coercion Ten. Coercion Ten is a top of the line criminal organization and Macki ends up on the top of the hit list. Josh is brought in to protect her. But the past that they have didn’t end on a good note. As the past reveals itself and as the story progresses we find out how much these two are just in the middle of the chaos that Coercion Ten plans to bring. Facing facts, fears and the future with tons of emotions riding high in this story will constantly keep you turning the pages.  This story fills you with the need to figure out what exactly is going on. The suspense was killing me! It’s a crazy wild ride that keeps you guessing. And the plot twists!!!! The plot twists just keep coming! And the end….the end….Boom!!!! You won’t be disappointed at all. I read this one as a stand-alone and can’t wait to get into more of this series. Claudia Shelton is a new author for me and she has obtained a new stalker….*waves*, fan! Bravo!

Holy effing what?!?! It’s an epic journey! This is definitely not what I expected. Mind bending and maddening! Be ready to be wrecked, and I mean this in the best possible way. This is a twisted ride into a new age zombie apocalypse. Grace is our main character and boy, has she had a past. This makes her extremely likeable and relatable. The setting is intense from jump. There are drugs, partying, witchcraft, and zombies…I mean, what more could you ask for? But lets be real for a moment. Grace has experienced hell growing up. She has come to terms and feels she is stronger for it.  Nothing slows down. The story is extremely action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.  This is all about having your quality of life leveling up on a permanent f’ing opposite day with some giggly trips down memory lane. Grace is an amazingly flawed character that is continually growing emotionally and mentally. Gideon saved her and they have fallen in love. This author knows how to make the apocalypse romantic and STEAMY! As a matter of fact, all the characters that are introduced into this story are all fighting some sort of demon, their own apocalypse.  I was a mess reading this….but it was totally, absolutely worth it. Don’t let this discourage you. Once I hit this bump in the road the story just got better and better. I felt like I was right there and her shoes. This is an epic page turner and has made it to the top of my favorite reads. I. Can. Not. Wait. for the sequel. Bring it on! I am so ready!  I absolutely could not put this down. So many plot twists!  This series has made it to my top favorite, ever. If you like beautifully flawed characters with intense, action packed, and HAWT plots then you will love this just like I do. This author! SMH….LOL! I AM HOOKED! THIS IS MY ADDICTION!  This series is taking it to the next level.

This is a supernatural shifter thriller with some great history. This is book two in the saga but can be read as a standalone. I did not read the first but am incredibly intrigued to do so. At the very beginning we get some of the gruesome. There has been a murder and it was one of Feather’s best friends. Then another murder and it seems to be linked with Feather again. The detectives that interview her are shifters as well and know more of the history of Feather along with her brother, Raine. Ren, the lead detective, knows Feather from the 1800’s and soon Feather is reminded of who he is. Ren instantly wants to help Feather but his partner, Apple Shade, thinks Feather is the reason for the murders. This story goes back and forth between the 1800’s, WW2 and the present. There have been multiple murders over the past years that fit the same as these current murders. Now they are delving deep into the past to try and find the serial killer. While they are all investigating they find that they are all in danger. While they are leaning on each other some major feeling develop and then we get some sweet sexy time (wags eyebrows). But the way that this entire story unfolds, along with the back and forth from past and present, really keeps you on your toes. There are many twists and turns but at the risk of giving spoilers I am recommending this to everyone. It is very interesting and intriguing. This is a first for me from Laura Hawks but won’t be the last!

 

 

 

Laura Hawks

Ms. Hawks has always been interested in writing in some form or other. A few years back, she was involved with and then ran a Star Trek Interactive Writing Group which was successful for a number of years. Yes, she is a trekker and proud of it.

A few years back, she received her Master’s Degree in Ancient Civilizations, Native American History and United States History.

It was at this time she got involved in role playing on FaceBook, which gave her ample opportunities to grow and hone her writing ability.

Today she has several books out, including the Demon Trilogy, a couple of stand alone’s and a non-fiction souvenir book on the Balconies of New Orleans. She recently wrote a Suspense/Thriller which is her second non-paranormal book.

“Love and pain. It was a toxic combination.” I am going to miss the King’s Harlots! This is not my normal genre but it is an epic mix of awesomeness! The series has gone from really good to oh my gawd amazing! Every book seems to get better and better. It has been a non-stop love/hate relationship that most definitely keeps you wanting more. Rust is no different. Although, I must say that Creena’s and Stone’s stories may be my favorite  . One thing that this series has given us is the raw and gritty. Well folks, it absolutely raw and gritty in the best possible way. I want to talk about the story but I know I will give away spoilers so that’s gonna be a no-no this time. They are both holding secrets, like major secrets that are gonna shake the Harlot’s and Vice One’s worlds. The back story of these two is intense. When Creena and Stone crash together things explode! It’s HAWT!!! It’s ACTION packed! It’s TWISTED!! It’s OVER!! (wipes tears from face).

In an effort to not spoil the story I will give you a couple lines that were my fave!

Sex with Stone came at a price. It cost me my sanity because all I could think about was him. My thirst for him was never quenched. It only made it worse. I could drink him up, feast on his body, and never be satisfied.

We crave that darkness but even after accepting its fate, it can still haunt us for years. Maybe even the rest of our lives. Sometimes people take advantage of that. Hire us to do their dirty work because they’re scared to do it themselves.

This is an incredible series with an equally incredible ending. Bravo, JM Walker! Get it girl!

Black Ops, Sci Fi, Space Opera that sucks you in from the very beginning! I have not read any of the books that go along with this but if you are a lover of the fast paced, action packed, and the crazy characters that go with this type of thing then this is the book for you! Right from the beginning there is a scuffle with some of our main characters. But this is only the start. Our outcast, Eddie, used to be in the Federation but is now doing his own thing but still stands up for what he believes in. He is recruited to do some black ops type of work that involves stopping some bad guys that are doing bad things. He is paired up with Julianna and both are badass! They have been given an opportunity to recruit some diverse people to help them stop this quiet war and save some innocents. But nothing they do is going to be “normal”. Two of the recruits are of a different alien race and how they come upon them is nothing but out of the ordinary. The banter between all of them, during conflicts and when they are relaxing, is so fun! I kind of imagine these stories being a cross between Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy. There is never a dull moment with this team and I doubt there ever will be. I am looking forward to seeing what else the Ghost Squadron come up against. Must read!

Oh holy hell! What a mindf**k! This is one dark and twisted read. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to figure out what the angle is. I just couldn’t get it figured out. Then when it seems like I’ve got it figured out…BAM! PLOT TWIST! This is definitely a psychological suspenseful thriller. This is told from Tobias’s point of view. He is a vile human who is a serial killer. He is guilty as sin! He is currently on death row and just going through the motions of prison life. To pass the time he became part of the prison pen pal program. He is contacted by all types of crazy organizations and people. But one day he gets a letter from Jess. She is a gorgeous young lawyer and she thinks she can get all of his charges dropped. He then becomes very curious and works to reel her in. Charming and good looking with a smooth tongue….and he has her hooked. The whole time I found myself yelling at Jess like WTF are you doing?!?! Run away! Why are you still entertaining him? OMG!  This is very graphic as this is being told from a serial killer’s point of view. Like, make my skin crawl graphic. It was a rush reading this. My heart didn’t stop pounding. Absolutely effing intense! There are no warm and fuzzies in this story. And the end….well, the end is flipping mind blowing. I was absolutely blown away. And when it was over I had to just sit and figure out what it is I just finished reading. If you need something out of your normal comfort zone, this is it. A definite must read!

Hi, I’m Jo. Let’s forget all the “Jo Michaels is blah, blah, blah” stuff and just go with it. I’m a voracious reader (often reading more than one book at a time), a writer, a book reviewer, a mom, a wife, and one of the EICs at INDIE Books Gone Wild. I have an almost photographic memory and tend to make people cringe at the number of details I can recall about them and/or their book(s). My imagination follows me around like a conjoined twin and causes me to space out pretty often or laugh out loud randomly in completely inappropriate situations.

I have a degree in graphic design, and my journey to the end was one few students who begin that program ever complete. However, this was one case where my memory and OCD tendencies helped me. Graduation was one of the most amazing days of my life. But, my most amazing day was when my now husband proposed. Every little girl dreams of being Cinderella someday, and he pulled off the proposal of fantasies.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I’m going to let it out there and say how much I absolutely adore the man I’m married to. Along with my children, he’s my whole world.

I’ve lived in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia, but I’ve had my feet in almost every state. Traveling is something I adore, and have plans to someday see the Mongolia I’ve written about in Yassa.

Holy effing whaaaat?! This author! SMH….LOL! I AM HOOKED! THIS IS MY ADDICTION! This installment of the series has really shown the dark and gritty but with the perfect amount of humanity. I am not really sure what I was expecting when the group arrives at the Tunnels, but this version is waaaaaay different in the best twisted and raw way. The author never ceases to amaze me in the way these characters have been developing. They are in a constant turmoil of doing what’s right and what’s right for them. The emotions and feelings are very intense. This isn’t just another zombie book where the survivors are just trying to survive. This series is taking it to the next level. You have a community that is safe in the tunnels and is absolutely perfect. But sometimes these are only illusions and there are a lot of smoke and mirrors in this particular place. Grace and company are in a place where they can thrive in several different ways depending on what they are willing to do. There is never a dull moment in this story. From the time they get there, through middle of the story and right up to the end you will be on the edge of your seat fanning yourself, cringing, needing a tissue, and rooting for the good guys (whoever they may be). It’s an action packed, heart thumping helluva ride! Go read this now!

The stories I write are a conglomeration of my life’s observations, experiences, heartbreaks, and triumphs, bits and pieces of the beauty and devastation inherent all around us, and inside each of us. But for many years I thought I was broken. My “overactive” imagination was seen as a defect by me and those around me. Through my struggles with PTSD, BPD, suicidal depression, and debilitating addictions, I clawed at the earth in my hole, gazing toward the sun high above me. Would I ever make it out alive? Would I one day be able to walk beneath that blue sky a free woman, and share that gift with others? For a long time I doubted that would ever happen for me . . .

One day, my eleven-year-old came home from school, excited that they had just started reading “The Hunger Games” in her fifth grade class (teacher skipped the kissing parts—GASP!). Having been newly sober, and looking for ways to rebuild my relationship with my daughter who’d been through so much during my sickness, I brought up the idea of writing a YA novel of my own, and she’d help with the plotting and characters. I’d been writing poetry and prose forever, and never pictured myself as a fiction writer, but if it meant strengthening my bond with my child, I was willing to give it a try. What happened as I began this story about orphaned angel-humans, reptilian antagonists, and shadow-animal people, was . . . well, I scrapped that and started something else. Haha

My first full-length novel, “The Butterfly Prophecy,” was unpublishable, riddled with plot holes and a plethora of other errors, and ultimately ended up in a box. As a high school dropout with little college under my belt, I took to the local library and Google to learn how to (really) write a novel, and I was soon on my way to creating a work of art I’d be proud to share with the world. Though The Butterfly Prophecy wasn’t published, many elements, themes, settings, and a few characters from that story were used in the Treemakers Trilogy, which was really cool! Micah Greenleigh, Ms. Ruby, Emerson, Ty, and Aura (Joy’s mom) were so real to me that I couldn’t help but transplant them into their forever story home.

During the nine months it took to write that first book, I realized that writing was medication for me. When I wrote, my life made sense, I had purpose, I could breathe, and think clearly. I could use my tattered past to create a beautiful work of art, and that alone turned my life around completely. Two novels later I gave birth to “The Treemakers” during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month in November)2013. I scrapped that and rewrote the whole thing, publishing The Treemakers a year later. During its creation, I realized this was what I was put on this planet to do. Creating these characters for you to experience and feel, to love and hate, to laugh and cry and escape from reality into remarkable worlds with, brings me immense joy and fulfillment. So, thank you for your part in my journey, for being the receivers of this gift that was so freely given to me. You complete me. (Cheesy, but true! 😉 I’m continually amazed at the outpouring of love and support for me and my work, and I promise to do my best to continue creating quality stories for you to get swept away into.

I’m an eclectic writer with books and works-in-progress in many genres. This is such a great book! A kickass heroine who is bending all the rules and showing she can play with the big boys! I actually won this book during a book release party. I have never heard of this author but I do LOVE a good shifter book. I was a little put off at the first sentence because it starts with how her ex-boyfriend left her for a bimbo. I didn’t want the book to be a bunch of high school type stuff but I was proven wrong and very fast. Mackenzie is this college student who is a werewolf. She is not sure how it happened and has no one to talk with about this change. She has an amazing friend, Amy, who reminds me of the saying “dynamite comes in small packages”. A trio of werewolves doesn’t make her quiver. Mackenzie has a strength and confidence about her that gets her a job as a bouncer at a nightclub. She runs into the local pack and this becomes trouble. She is still trying to wrap her head around the whole mess while attempting to get answers from them about her. She is having an extremely difficult time with the pack as she is unwilling to bend to their practices and rules. There are many tough decisions, things that could scar her for life, but she takes it in stride as she understands that sometimes you have to break the rules. She is still an extremely independent woman but has to lean on someone when things continue to go awry with her ex and the kidnappings that are now involving her. This is an extremely witty and cunning story that is full of badassery. I got absolutely sucked in and could not stop until the end and even then I needed more. I will be continuing this journey of Mackenzie’s. It’s absolutely captivating. Kudos to the author!

OMFG! I can’t begin to tell you how incredible this story is! This is all about having your quality of life leveling up on a permanent f’ing opposite day with some giggly trips down memory lane. 🙂 Just like the first story, Murray’s Law stays INTENSE! No matter what obstacle Grace is up against she remembers Murray’s Law. She has a choice. Not always an easy choice but a choice nonetheless. Grace is an amazingly flawed character that is continually growing emotionally and mentally. Gideon saved her and they have fallen in love. This author knows how to make the apocalypse romantic and STEAMY! As a matter of fact, all the characters that are introduced into this story are all fighting some sort of demon, their own apocalypse. I absolutely could not put this down. So many plot twists! I can’t really go into what happens because I will end up writing a book report and I am sure you want to know what happens without being told. With that being said, this story compliments Dysphoria and Grace perfectly. Even though Murray’s Law is the second in this series it is just as great, if not better, than the first. This series has made it to my top favorite, ever. If you like beautifully flawed characters with intense, action packed, and HAWT plots then you will love this just like I do. It’s truly an intense story and this series has made it to one of my all time favorites. It’s an action packed thriller with some craziness on the side. More please! This series goes along with some Filipino folklore that I never knew existed. This author has brought Aswangs to life in this series along with some new monsters that we love to hate. Ollie is our lead female, she is a strong warrior halfling (half human and half aswang) that has come back with a vengeance. She has come back to bring Fear University to its former glory but is then put on hold due to some gruesome deaths. There is a “ghost” that lives in the shadows, going on killing sprees and has Fear University in it’s sights. Turns out that this ghost is actually the first “successful” experiment with the fear switch. But Zero adapted and now is on Fear University’s radar. There is so much more going on behind this part of the story. Sunny is working on an antidote for the aswang saliva, Hatter is still manic, and Luke is still in love with Ollie. People are scared. Some are running and some are fighting. Saviors or fighters? The group has been put in some crazy situations, desperate times call for desperate measures. They are all holding on to themselves while discovering who they really are. And lets not forget their families….some make a reappearance in this story. Some heartfelt and some heart wrenching. I can’t wait for more! Meg Collett did it again!
