James Kendall, the Duke of Weston returns from war to find an injured woman on his estate. She mumbles strange phrases and keeps calling him by another name. Thinking her a bit mad from her wounds, he takes her to the manor and calls for a doctor.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Ok so I was a nut and read this series way outta order so even though this is book 2 I read it 3rd.  SO I didn’t know what happened to Aylse when I read book 3 first….do you get my crazy mind?  LOL  SO to say I was excited to finally know what happened to Regina’s sister is an understatement.

Alys was the quiet daughter.  She was the peace keeper and the calmer of the diva Regina.  She wanted to find a love and have a family but she wanted to make her mark first.  She was a great surgeon and was not looking to settle down any time soon.  She has an interesting conversation with Regina’s future brother in law and is creeped out that he was hitting on her.  Hawt as he IS she wont be a 2nd choice.  She wants to be someone’s 1st and only choice.

James is not happy at all.  He is the 2nd son and due to the death of his brother, he is now the Duke.  Yes the same Duke family that Regina is marrying into.  And before you ask, yes James is a totally hottie like Bradford the brother in law…..can you see where this is headed?  Feisty woman from the future challenging and engaging an old school Duke while falling head over heels in love with each other.

I laughed a lot of Alys use f “every day” language in the 1800’s.  They certainly were confused by her and she was at a total lose for them.  I am waiting for Rose’s book.  She is a great side character who will most definitely get some great guidance from Alys.

To Save Him teaser pic

Excerpt

There was a sadness about Brandon that touched my heart. I could sense that he had so much more to say, but the words couldn’t find a way out. Maybe he needed time, but there was also a chance that those words would be forever buried inside him.

“Brandon, I haven’t been a Christian woman since the day I learned of my son’s death, but it wouldn’t be very Christian or civil of me to turn you away after dark.” I took a deep breath and saw him mustering up an argument, but I began speaking again before he could protest. “Ordinarily, I’d have a guest stay in the extra bedroom, but—if you’d be okay with it—I’d imagine Gabriel would like to have you stay in his room. It’s…been unoccupied for a very long time.”

There was a long pause until JR clamored, “Please?

Brandon’s struggle was evident in his eyes but he said, “That’s very kind of you. I’d…appreciate it more than you know.”

His soul had spoken to me that night. It was the night I fell in love with Brandon Abbott.

Melinda's Review

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is a different kind of story from Jade that I was used to. This put the May-June plot in a new light. I was not sure about this one when I first started it but the end I did find there were parts I really enjoyed.

Kimberly Cooper recently lost her son who was serving in the military. While she was still taking care of her other kids she was still morning her late son. She was not able to move on. Then Brandon Abbott showed up on her door step.

Brandon stated he was friends with Kimberly’s deceased son while in the military. Kimberly was having feelings for this your man that she didn’t think she should. However, she gave in and allowed her heart to lead the way. Then her brain caught up and she started questioning if Brandon was who he said he was and if her and her children were safe with Brandon being there. When she started digging Brandon and Kimberly found themselves in a situation where she had to figure out whom she trusted more strangers or Brandon.

When I thought I was going to have an issue with something I kept reading and realized it either helped Kim or Brandon or it helped Brandon remember something new so I didn’t have an issue with it after all thank you Jade C. Jamison for pushing me out of my comfort zone and try something new for me.

Jade

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today—sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales—but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life. While she doesn’t confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

AHH Time Travel plus Historical…yes please!!  Then throw in a pirate annnnd I was a giggle factory!!

SO Lady Evelyn is on a hot, God forsaken island with her father when she gets word she has to go back to England for her wedding…SHEW!!  She is happy to finally get the heck outta the hot tropics for “civilized life” when the ship she is sailing on is boarded by pirates.  Well Captain Jack Morgan (Yup that guy) decides he is going to keep Lady Evelyn and hope to make her is mistress…..now all of this is happening in 1722 while our Hero, Paul’s, story is happening in 1987.

Paul works.  Paul works tooo much when he is forced to take a vacation to help his health. He vacations on a God-forsaken island.  He takes a stroll but gets caught up in a storm when he sees a beautiful woman on the beach. They both run for cover and soon realize that something wonky has happened.  He has some how manage to slip back in time.

The couple fall in love and have to find way to 1987 or figure out what to do in 1722.  The epilogue is a great set up for the other books in the series. Book 2 is their oldest daughter Alys and book 3 is the other daughter Regina!!  I read this series out of order completely and didn’t find it confused me at all.  I read book 3 before book 1 nd m jumping into bok 2 now…LOL  so I would say these are total stand alones.

excerpt

At the rustle of a key turning in the lock, she let go of the map and turned in the chair to face the entrance. The door swung open and Jasper stared at her. She fought the urge to look away but, instead, met his gaze. It would not kill her to be amiable. Perchance it may even benefit her. “Thank you for sending me the change of clothes.”

“The ship’s gunner will mend your gown so you have it when you depart.”

“That is not necessary. Discard it.” She smiled at the surprise her words ignited in his ice blue eyes. Had he expected her to be vexed over her new wardrobe?

“As you wish.” He leaned his hip on the edge of the desk.

“Can you tell me where we are exactly?” She pointed to America on the map. “I would like to know how far I am from home.”

He glanced from her to the document. “You know how to read maps?”

“I am an educated woman, Captain.”

He chuckled. “I do not doubt it, and, as I told you previously, you have leave to call me Jasper when we’re alone.” A mild irritation laced his voice.

She nodded but had no intention of ever using his given name. The act was far too intimate. He was a pirate for God’s sake. She had no desire to befriend him. Pirates murdered her father and Louisa. She traced the puckered scar on his cheek with her gaze. Had he received any new injuries saving her?

Captain Blackmore murdered the pirates who captured her—avenged her father and rescued her. He risked his life in battle. Still, she could not allow herself to see him as more than the enemy, not even if she wished to.

“It has been my experience that women generally do not read maps. Who taught you?” He opened a drawer and retrieved a bottle of amber-colored liquid along with two glasses.

She watched as he poured some into a glass all the while attempting to decide whether she should answer his question. It would not do for a pirate to know she was a wealthy shipping company owner. She certainly could not allow him to discover that her company was without protection. He must not learn of her father’s death. If he did her company would be vulnerable to him and his crew.

Jasper offered her a glass. “Thirsty?”

“No.” She held up a hand in protest. “Thank you.”

He pressed the glass into her hand anyway. “Have a little. After the day you’ve had, I am sure you are parched. Besides, spirits are good for drowning one’s sorrows.”

She accepted and took a small sip. The liquor burned down her throat but she did not choke on it. “What is it?”

“Brandy. Have you never drank it before?”

“No. I have had watered down wine and champagne on occasion, but Papa never allowed me liquor. It is not proper for a lady to imbibe in stronger drinks, but then I do not suppose a pirate would care about propriety.” Emboldened, she took another sip before setting the glass aside. “Now answer my question. Where are we?”

Bear shifters exist.

Professor Bria Lane has known this since she was a child.  Now she’s returned to he forests of Deep Creek to prove it to the worlds.  She has no idea how close she is to that proof in ruggedly sexy park ranger Derek Poole.  Intimately close. Like a magnet meeting metal, Derek is drawn to Bria.  His destiny. His mate. So beautiful and so vulnerable. So dangerous, too: an encroachment of lions, vengeful and vicious, is closing in and they’re ready for war.  Now is not the time to be distracted like a lovesick cub.

If Bria reveals the truth of the Deep Creek shifters to the world, she’ll bring out the worst of both sides.  But Derek can’t hide his secrets from the love of his life forever.  He knows they’re playing with fire – and that when passion runs this hot, this reckless, someone’s bound to get burned.

“What an ursus…umm…whatever you said? I’ve always worked with my hands—I never was a college guy. Didn’t have the patience to sit still in the classroom.” Derek kicked at the ground then looked up.

“No worries.” She snapped her attention back to what he was saying. “Most people don’t know what an ursinologist is—it’s someone who studies bears.”

“Bears, huh?” He shook his head and laughed. “You study bears?”

“What’s so funny?” She crossed her arms. “It’s a valid profession. And I’m doing what I love.”

“Nothing wrong with it, Bria.” He stepped so close to her she had to look up to meet his gaze, and held his hands up in mock surrender. “I think it’s a fine profession, I’ve just never heard of it. It’s a totally new job that I’ve never heard of. Yet here you are in the woods with me, so I guess we aren’t that far apart, career-wise.”

Derek was in her space and even though they weren’t touching, she felt his presence touching hers, like a low-level energy buzzing in the evening air, crackling when hers met his. One step closer and she could pull that hair band out and hop into his arms, straddling him as she kissed him. She shook her head to clear her naughty thoughts. Ugh. Stop. The thoughts about what she’d like to do to the hot park ranger needed to stop. Maybe she’d been out in the sun too long. Normally she didn’t ogle guys. In fact, she couldn’t remember the last time she had. She cleared her throat and took a step back. “I thought you were laughing at me.”

“No. I didn’t know there was a name for someone who studies bears. Plus, the word sounds kinda funny.” He scanned the forest, thumbs in his belt loops. “I guess you’re in the right place to look for bears, though. Especially this deep in the forest. Lots of them live in Deep Creek. They’re everywhere. Probably closer than you think.”

“I hope so.” Her shoulders lowered and she blew out a breath. “Have you seen any this season? I know they are more active in summer. After they’ve woken from hibernation.”

“I see them every day. I’m out in the woods a lot.” He chewed his lip. “They really only partially hibernate, though. But yeah, I guess you could say I’ve seen a lot of bears here in Deep Creek.”

He’d seen bears. Recently. Her pulse thumped in her neck and she leaned forward, as if being near him would make the bears closer. Excitement rang in her ears. “Where? Can you show me, or at least give me some pointers where to look? I can’t wait to see them.”

“My best advice is to keep your eyes open. You never know when a bear will appear right in front of you.”
