#Review – Master of Solitude (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven Book 8) By: Cherise Sinclair

35103641

Since childhood, Mallory McCabe has dreamed of falling in love with a hero. And then one saves her life. He’s honest…and blunt. Deadly, but filled with pain. Overpowering, yet ever so gentle with her. Oh yes, she’s found her hero. Taking him to her bed is simply…right. As is losing her heart.

How could she have known he’d want nothing more to do with her?

His indifference hurts. She vows to forget him…then he buys the land next to hers.

Released early from prison, all Sawyer Ware wants is to put his life back together. His police detective brother houses him while he makes plans. But when a violent gang targets his brother, Sawyer puts his future on hold. He’ll have to take on the gang first. After a decade as a Navy SEAL, he won’t–can’t–walk away if someone he loves is threatened.

His mission is likely to prove bloody. He sure can’t afford to get involved with a woman, especially his captivating neighbor. He hungers to be near her, to enjoy her clear laugh, her easy friendship, and the peace she brings wherever she goes. A relationship is absolutely out of the question.

Why won’t his heart obey orders?

I almost forgot how much I loved these men.  The chemistry Mallory and Sawyer have is explosive but they both try to fight it.

Sawyer was released early from prison and is now trying to protect his brother and the people of Bear Flat. See when the prison closed it left behind a violent gang and they had their sights on Sawyers brother for killing the leader of the gang in a prison break.  Sawyer being the former Navy SEAL was all about taking them out before they got to his family. A spunky contractor caught his attention but getting involved with someone is the last thing he needs especially if they are just wanting a little thrill of being with an ex-con.

Mallory runs a contract company and looking for the perfect guy that she can blend well with. Little did she know her one night stand would be her neighbor in the next few days and she would be working on his property?  The way these two keep coming together and then repelling each other like a pair of magnets is magnetizing.  Mallory knows when to push Sawyer and when to let things go but when he rejects her in town it is heart crushing.

Sawyer has to push Mallory away to keep her safe but she is not one to sit by and watch her town go in the gutter. She is a fighter and can swing a broom with the best of them. She rallies the town and puts herself in the middle of all the danger Sawyer has tried so hard to keep her away from. Now he is forced to protect his brother, Mallory and the town that he is starting to see as his.

I love Mallory and her gift she is loving, caring and protective in her own way. She sees someone in trouble she jumps in to help. There was a lot of push and pull between Mallory and Sawyer. Mallory was all in but Sawyer was still in protecting mode and protection meant he needed distance. I enjoyed seeing the Mastersons, the Hunts, and even Simon and Xavier. I enjoyed this book Mallory is an introvert but when the time comes to stand up and push back she is all in especially when her friends are in danger.

A few of my favorites:

Sawyer didn’t think a woman had ever looked at him as Mallory did now – as if she could see past his skin and into his soul. And still liked what she saw.

“Good. But, Mallory, you’re new. Even if you forget the colors, it’s all right. I’m going to be right here with you, figuring out what you’re saying. What you need.” His eyes were steady on hers. He was totally in control of himself – and her.

Well, honestly. Mallory scowled. “Although I believe in recycling, you’ve gone too far. Good advise shouldn’t be returned like you would a… a soda bottle.”

Authors often say their characters argue with them. Unfortunately, since Cherise Sinclair’s heroes are Doms, she never, ever wins.

#NewRelease #Review #Contemporary Chance Encounter (The Lamberts of Pacific Knoll Book 1) by Kate Vale

When Alexis McCord’s abusive boyfriend is arrested, she seizes the opportunity to escape with her young son. Now she and 5-year-old Chance are building a life in the tiny, remote beach town of Sandy Reach, Washington. Lexi is even acting on her dream of becoming a baker with her own shop—if only Hugh never finds her.

For Fletcher Lambert, distraught after the death of his wife and baby daughter, Sandy Reach is a handy place to escape his memories, away from his law office and his large, well-intentioned but intrusive family, who are watching and waiting for him to move on. He’s not sure that will ever happen.

Then Fletcher meets Chance. When he learned that the waitress serving him at Omar’s pub is the boy’s mother, sparks fly in in spite of his intentions never to get close to a woman again. Lexi feels them, too, but her mistrust of men forces her to ignore Chance when he declares that Fletcher would make the perfect dad. After all, who listens to a five-year-old in the midst of all this grown-up angst?

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

A New series about the Lambert family. A family that has it all, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have issues of their own.

Lexi McCord is trying to raise her young son right and that means getting away from his abusive and theft of a father. They run while he is in prison after he was arrested for robbing a jewelry store. Their car breaks down outside of Sandy Reach, so that where she tries to change their life around. It’s taken two years, but life is finally looking up for them.
It’s been a year since the death of his wife and baby daughter and Fletcher Lambert is still not over it. He has a hard time being around his niece and nephew, almost has a panic attack when he is called to go to the ER for his little brother, and is losing clients at his office where he practices law.
His law partner has put his foot down and told him he needs to get away and finally deal with it and maybe get some closure so he decides to go to Sandy Reach for some winter fishing and so he doesn’t have to be around his family for the holidays he decides to go for a couple of months.
Fletcher meets a child alone of the beach the first day he is there. He can’t believe that a 5 year old would be allowed to be alone on the beach, let alone be allowed on the beach in the winter without the proper clothing, he learns shortly that he got away from his babysitter. It isn’t until he starts talking to the child that he realizes that he recognizes the child as the one that almost ran out in front of his car when he drove into town and that his mom his the waitress at the pub he just left. The woman that has him thinking thought that were nothing about his wife.
Lexi tries hard to stay way from Fletcher after he tries to pay for fixing her son’s coat he found on the beach after that faithful day, but she can’t. There is something in him that calls to her.
What happens next is a story of a man falling in love again, a woman learning that all men aren’t bad and it’s ok to have feeling for one, and a child that knows what he wants and how to protect his mom.
Vale does a wonderful job showing the emotional storm of a man dealing with the loss of his whole world. She also does a great job showing how hard it is to be a single parent and how hard it is to trust again after leaving a abusive relationship.
When two people learn to love again it’s wonderful and I can’t wait to see more of the Lambert family.

My mother said I wrote my first book when I was five–after I carefully copied the words in one of my favorite stories. A favorite children’s book I still have is a first edition, signed by the author, of MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE, perhaps one reason I included reference to it in my indie-novel, PACKAGE DEAL.

Counting my current work as a novelist, I think I’ve experienced at least five different careers, the first four providing lots of grist for the mill of what my characters do or would like to do. One example? Olivia Brown in GRANDDAD’S HOUSE is a realtor. I was one, too! And realtors show up again in CHOICES and in a new book not yet ready for publication.

I hope you enjoy my stories. I love to hear from readers.

#Review #Paranormal – Midnight Moonrising by K.S. Haigwood & Anne Conley

Midnight Moonrising

Mena’s life is complicated. She’s just murdered and buried her husband, the local wolf pack’s alpha – problem number one. Phoenix, the High Vampire, is the one her heart beats for, but not the one her wolf wants – problem number two. Her wolf pines for Alex, the human homicide detective who might just send her down for murder – three. Four, wolves and vampires don’t mix. Five, she has no clue how to be alpha, keep her pack safe while fighting off challengers with every step she takes, or what it would take to tame her wolf, which is the biggest problem of them all. Because the beast might just forfeit Mena’s life when its insatiable thirst for blood is unleashed on the world in just a few short days, with the next full moon.

Which should be doable. Except for the Nexus… and the little extra problem of bonding with a stranger.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Hello Happiness to my heart……I love a good paranormal and this totally fit the bill!!

Ok so I did read the prequal so I kinda knew what the heck was going on when I started this book.  However I was like WHAT!!!!!!! When I was reading!!  The prequal is a little TEASE into the awesome of this book.  Don’t get me wrong a good throat punch and kindle throwing was called for but I do love those kinda stories.  I think I like them because the author is getting me to FEEL what the character are feeling and in turn the author prolly felt for that character!!

Mena is not a happy woman to find her hubby, Marc is a cheating DB.  She runs into hottie Jaxson and is alllll ready to go home with him when…all hell breaks loose.  Ya see Jaxson is a vampire annnnd old DB Marc…..well he is the Alpha to the pack Wolves.  SAY WHAT?  Yeah Mena is all kindsa of confused because how can she not know right???

When Mena and Marc “have a bit of an argument”, he bites her and forever changes her world and life.  Well Mena does some stuff and also changes the order of the Wolf Pack.  Jaxson rushed Mena to his vampire coven when another first happens….Mena falls for the main vampire.  WHAT!!  Uhm do they not realize that Wolves and Vampires are bitter enemies??  Well I mean you can’t help what the heart want right???

The book was amazing and I flipping loved it.  I mean it hit all my buttons…..sassy heroine, hottie alphas, and awesome naughty times so yeah I was in bookie loving heaven!!

“Far from crazy, but equally as far from normal. There are voices in my head and I occasionally talk to them.” – Kristie Haigwood

K. S. Haigwood is the author of the Save My Soul, Eternal Island and Moonrising series. By day, she is a CNC Machinist, but by night and weekend, she saves the world or destroys it in a single bound, depending on what mood she is in and if she has had her coffee. In addition to being an award winner for the ‘Life Changing Read Award’, she has also been nominated twice for Best Indie Book 2016 in the Paranormal category.

Characterization is one of K.S. Haigwood’s strongest points. You can understand each characters’ predicaments and you can almost foresee their reactions. But. There’s always a but, with this author, because Haigwood can deliver enough twists and turns to turn a tornado on its head. Just as you think you’ve figured where the story is going next, she’s duped you again.

The whole of her novels are littered with good chuckle moments, and even in the darkest hour, the thinnest hint of a silver lining is still visible among the clouds.

Shock therapy for body and soul, delivered at a hundred miles an hour with the humor and charisma of a trendsetter, Haigwood is certain to be hailed the new wonder-drug to cure all ills.

Title: Falling into the Black
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Designed with Grace
Release Date: August 1, 2017
Book Description

Ten years ago we said goodbye.I left the world I knew to create a new life for myself. Away from the lies. Away from the pain.

It was all going as planned until a friend asked for help with her club. The business was liberating. The company was intoxicating.

Two masked men became my euphoria. One was a player deep in the game. A teacher both intimately and figuratively.

The other was a quiet director. A man who tempted me with his stares and set me on fire with his dark whispers

His secrecy excited me, bringing me to levels I’ve never imagined. I thought we were playing a game, but little did I know he knew exactly who I was.

I just wish I figured out his true identity before I fell for his best friend.

* Falling into the Black is a standalone novel with an HEA.

I received this book for an honest review.

I w super excited to get this book.  I loved the character’s name *Wink* plus some BDSM, a love triangle annnd a 2nd chance love story toooooo….YES PLEASE!!  This book is allllll meeeee!!  So when I got the ARC I waited for vacation.  I wanted to be sure to sit and just READ this book from cover to cover. Then I was stoked to see all the great reviews annnnnd now there is mine…….

So yeah, I dunno.  I just didn’t love it like I thought/hoped I would.  I kinda didn’t really like the lead character.  I found myself kinda just wanting the guys to walk away and be like “Peace out”.  I liked the guys well enough and the scenes were super hawt yes but ..uhm…yeah it just didn’t click for me.    Maybe I am the odd ball here but I just wanted something more of substance for her???  But maybe it’s because she was more “one-night stand” girl then looking for love girl.  Hell, I dunno.

Excerpt:

“Angie Smith?”
My lips tilt up slightly. “Pleasure to meet you.”
“Funny, sometimes you can tell because their name just fits them. I would never guess you for an Angie.”
“Why would you say that?”
He taps his lower lip with a long, deft finger, and I’m instantly distracted by the thought of what that finger could do.
“I don’t know. Just something told me that wasn’t you. You and Ashley were the only two people I couldn’t find any pictures of or any info on really. You guys are smart, or should I add, private.”
“Let’s go with private.” I wink, which makes him raise his eyebrows. I can tell I’m the oldest in the class, and the mad professor here seems to be closer to my age, but I’m still trying to figure out what his name is. “Can I play your little game?”
His lips push together as he nods his head in interest. “By all means. Do you want the class list?”
“No, I bet I can guess your name.”
His head moves up and down slowly. “Take your best shot.” His arms open wide, allowing me to fully take in every part of him.
“Let’s see. I know it starts with a C by my registration, but you have that whole nerdy, indie vibe going on, so I’m going to rule out Chris, Charlie, and Cameron.” The barely noticeable lift to his lips tells me that neither of those is his name, so I start naming off every C name I can think of, waiting for any type of reaction to show in his features. “Christian, Caleb, Connor, Cody, Colin, Cole—” The twitch in his eye makes me stop. I pause, looking him up and down before slightly tilting my head in recognition. “Nice to meet you, Cole.”
The grin covering his face makes me sit back in my chair. Yup, I’m made for this.
“Nicely done, Angie. The master gets beat at his own game. After class you’re going to have to tell me more about how you did that.”
“Anytime, Professor Spence,” I say in a flirtatious way.
His eyes meet mine for what I think is a second too long for a student/teacher moment, but I don’t mind. When they break away, he addresses everyone else, “This course is going to be interactive, and I encourage participation. So, everyone get up, move closer, and gather around Mrs. Smith here.” He returns my earlier wink before turning back around and writing his name across the board.
I’m intrigued by his lecture the entire night, and yeah, a lot of it was because he’s easy on the eye. I also happen to love the way he challenges people and really gets us involved.
When he says good night, I turn to gather my things and am startled when I hear, “Angie, can I talk to you for a minute?”
My eyes meet with a fellow female student, who I shoot a smile before turning around. “Sure, Professor Spence.”
As I approach his desk, he’s gathering his paperwork to put into his backpack. He stops and turns to face me, leaning against the back of the desk and crossing his arms in front of his body. “So tell me, how did you guess my name?”
I tilt my head to the side, showing him the slightest grin. “Well, that’s my little secret. Just like you said, though, you can learn a lot about a person if you pay close enough attention.”
“I’m impressed. Still can’t believe I got your name wrong. First time that little game didn’t work out for me fully. Please tell me Angie isn’t your real name. Give me some kind of hope.”
I close my eyes, smiling but nodding my head slightly. “Okay, I’ll give you that. Angie isn’t my birth name. I legally changed it years ago.” I can’t believe I just told him that. No one here in San Francisco, or hell, in California, knows that Angie isn’t my real name. For some reason, I felt comfortable enough in this moment to admit it.
“Okay, I feel a little bit better now, like I’m not a complete failure at my own game. But how did you know mine?”
“I was already trying to guess what it was before you even spoke. I guess I like to play little games, too.”
He laughs. “That doesn’t answer my question, though.”
“I looked at what you were wearing, how you walked, your body type, the fact that you carry a Vans backpack instead of a briefcase.” I pick up his backpack to prove my point. “Then, just like you, I paid attention and took a gamble. I guess you can say I’m good at reading facial expressions. You gave it away when your eye twitched slightly after I said Cole.”
“Nicely done. You just might be cut out for this lawyer thing after all. So do I get to know your real name?”
I shake my head. “Nope, sorry. To you and everyone else, I’m Angie.” I start to walk away but look over my shoulder. “No offense, though.”
I hear him chuckle as he says, “None taken. See you Wednesday, Mrs. Smith.”
I turn back again, giving him a quick smile before saying, “It’s miss.”

Murray's Law: (Urban Post-Apocalyptic Thriller) (The Night Blind Saga Book 2)

“You ever heard of Murphy’s Law?”
“Uh, yes. I think so. Everything that—”
“Can go wrong, will,” he finishes for me. “Yessir. But let me tell you a little something about Murray’s Law. When you’ve lost it all and you have nothing left to lose, when you’re stripped of all choices but to live or die, that’s when you get to choose whether to rise above or fall, defeated. That’s what you get to do now. It’s time to go back and make it right, Grace.”

I was broken before I was reborn, rebuilt from the ground up.
I was a devastated plane with no hope for life.
A toxic wasteland with no human survivors.
But I made it out, miraculously.
And I know who I am, now.
I’m Grace Anne Vincent, daughter of Eileen and Henry Vincent, sister to Corbin Michael Vincent, and best friend to Lucy Eve Davisson. I’m in love with a mystery named Gideon, and I have a will to live, lit by a fire deep in my soul.
The fire comes from loss.
It comes from longing and pain and thirst for vengeance.
It comes from agony and passion and loneliness.
I’ll survive.
I know I will, because I have, and I’ve even been given a second life. A life where I know who I am and what’s right.
I see the light of truth,

Murray’s Law/The Night Blind Saga is a dark apocalyptic romance series with some very steamy, sometimes rather dark F/F scenes, M/F scenes, and other mixes (later books in series). If you don’t ingest your literature occasionally (or often) on the edge, gritty, in the dark, and/or possibly in a random stairwell, this series may not be right for you.
*Recommended for mature readers 18+
*Those sensitive to the topics of angel babies and sexual assault should read at their own risk.

OMFG! I can’t begin to tell you how incredible this story is! This is all about having your quality of life leveling up on a permanent f’ing opposite day with some giggly trips down memory lane. 🙂 Just like the first story, Murray’s Law stays INTENSE! No matter what obstacle Grace is up against she remembers Murray’s Law. She has a choice. Not always an easy choice but a choice nonetheless. Grace is an amazingly flawed character that is continually growing emotionally and mentally. Gideon saved her and they have fallen in love. This author knows how to make the apocalypse romantic and STEAMY! As a matter of fact, all the characters that are introduced into this story are all fighting some sort of demon, their own apocalypse. I absolutely could not put this down. So many plot twists! I can’t really go into what happens because I will end up writing a book report and I am sure you want to know what happens without being told. With that being said, this story compliments Dysphoria and Grace perfectly. Even though Murray’s Law is the second in this series it is just as great, if not better, than the first. This series has made it to my top favorite, ever. If you like beautifully flawed characters with intense, action packed, and HAWT plots then you will love this just like I do. Well done, Christina Rozelle!!!! I’m hooked!!!!

Christina L. Rozelle

Ever since I can remember I’ve observed life, people, and things with a sense of awe and wonder. The stories I write are a conglomeration of my life’s observations, experiences, heartbreaks, and triumphs, bits and pieces of the beauty and devastation inherent all around us, and inside each of us. But for many years I thought I was broken. My “overactive” imagination was seen as a defect by me and those around me. Through my struggles with PTSD, BPD, suicidal depression, and debilitating addictions, I clawed at the earth in my hole, gazing toward the sun high above me. Would I ever make it out alive? Would I one day be able to walk beneath that blue sky a free woman, and share that gift with others? For a long time I doubted that would ever happen for me . . .

One day, my eleven-year-old came home from school, excited that they had just started reading “The Hunger Games” in her fifth grade class (teacher skipped the kissing parts—GASP!). Having been newly sober, and looking for ways to rebuild my relationship with my daughter who’d been through so much during my sickness, I brought up the idea of writing a YA novel of my own, and she’d help with the plotting and characters. I’d been writing poetry and prose forever, and never pictured myself as a fiction writer, but if it meant strengthening my bond with my child, I was willing to give it a try. What happened as I began this story about orphaned angel-humans, reptilian antagonists, and shadow-animal people, was . . . well, I scrapped that and started something else. Haha

My first full-length novel, “The Butterfly Prophecy,” was unpublishable, riddled with plot holes and a plethora of other errors, and ultimately ended up in a box. As a high school dropout with little college under my belt, I took to the local library and Google to learn how to (really) write a novel, and I was soon on my way to creating a work of art I’d be proud to share with the world. Though The Butterfly Prophecy wasn’t published, many elements, themes, settings, and a few characters from that story were used in the Treemakers Trilogy, which was really cool! Micah Greenleigh, Ms. Ruby, Emerson, Ty, and Aura (Joy’s mom) were so real to me that I couldn’t help but transplant them into their forever story home.

During the nine months it took to write that first book, I realized that writing was medication for me. When I wrote, my life made sense, I had purpose, I could breathe, and think clearly. I could use my tattered past to create a beautiful work of art, and that alone turned my life around completely. Two novels later I gave birth to “The Treemakers” during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month in November)2013. I scrapped that and rewrote the whole thing, publishing The Treemakers a year later. During its creation, I realized this was what I was put on this planet to do. Creating these characters for you to experience and feel, to love and hate, to laugh and cry and escape from reality into remarkable worlds with, brings me immense joy and fulfillment. So, thank you for your part in my journey, for being the receivers of this gift that was so freely given to me. You complete me. (Cheesy, but true! 😉 I’m continually amazed at the outpouring of love and support for me and my work, and I promise to do my best to continue creating quality stories for you to get swept away into.

I’m an eclectic writer with books and works-in-progress in many genres. My goal as an author is to make each series distinctly different from the last, so if one of my series’ isn’t for you I’d encourage you to give the others a try! Thanks again for all you do, and I wish you the very best in all of your endeavors.

Happy reading!
Xoxo Christina

★Synopsis★
Lies are necessary, mistakes are fatal, and sins unforgivable.

He’s a priest.
I repeat the words daily in hope that they’ll erase the picture of a perfect man from my mind. I don’t want to look at him intimately, but I can’t stop. Could any woman stop? I’ve seen the way they ogle him and I’ve heard the whispers in town; the ones of committing the unforgivable sin with the new addition to our parish.
Living in Pace was supposed to be easy, and it was, until I began seeing Father Cameron as more than a clergyman. He was kind and quiet. He was that perfect distraction I needed to forget my past.
Now that my body wants him, the pull is even stronger. His presence overpowers the room, his scent lingers in my lungs for hours and his kind heart is slowly healing my pain.
I pray for a resolution to my feelings but it’s not helping. My mind is clouded and my past is catching up to me without my knowledge…
Wanting him is a constant, needing him feels nurturing and resisting him is impossible. After all, forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest, except when it’s poisoned…
