As president of the Fallen Aces MC Fort Worth chapter, I\u2019m looked to for guidance in times of crisis. I\u2019m expected to set personal grievances aside and lead by example. Yet how can I do that when those grievances robbed me of my family, my life? My reason to be at the head of the table?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

My father: murdered. My baby sister: killed the same day. And my other sister? A mystery. I\u2019m drowning in my desolation and yet nobody seems to care. Or maybe it\u2019s the fact I won\u2019t let them close enough to help? I received a copy of this book for an honest review.<\/p>\n

Wow! What happens when you lose your family to your enemy but you are the leader of an MC and everyone looks to you for answers? Well let me tell you Hooch starts to self-destruct until the free spirit Dagne is brought to his doorstep.<\/p>\n

Hooch is the president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Fallen Aces MC. He lost his dad and sister on the same day. He is on a mission to do anything not to feel anymore. \u00a0I have to say I was not sure I was going to love this brooding man.<\/p>\n

Dagne lives life as it comes she goes where ever the wind takes her and this time it was on the back of Digits bike to Fallen Aces MC. She learned quickly that they do not bring out the welcoming committee and red carpet when someone new shows up.<\/p>\n

Hooch was not the nicest neither were certain women in the club but man could she hold her own when the time was needed.\u00a0 Hooch gave her odd jobs that were usually saved for prospects but she never complained and did a great job.<\/p>\n

The chemistry between Hooch and Dagne was great. Hooch and Dagne carved their way to my heart. A few of the Butcher Boys made appearances it was nice to get to see them. \u00a0Chan I just say the laundry room scene about broke me. \u00a0The story line and the twist that Max Henry put in this one had me flipping pages it was great.\u00a0 I cannot wait for more of this series.<\/p>\n

My arms slip lower to his waist, and in the confines of the clubhouse laundry room, I finally find peace.<\/p>\n

All this time I\u2019ve been searching for a place that sets my soul at ease, when all along it was a person.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t place a finger on what it is this traveler possesses that nobody has before her, but I know I need it. I\u2019ve lost direction in life, and without her to steer me toward the sunrise I\u2019d be forever lost in the dark, dank depths of my mind.<\/p>\n

When I love something, I protect it with all I\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He sniffs, staring at the toes of his boots where they rest against the base of the washer. \u201cSince everything went to shit last year, I get \u2026 I guess the only way to describe it is angry at myself.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

His head drops back again, and he closes his eyes as his thumb traces a path on the back of my hand. \u201cYeah, but I know I shouldn\u2019t. Still, knowin\u2019 what I\u2019m thinkin\u2019 is wrong doesn\u2019t make it go away. I still blame myself for everything, still hate myself for it.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s natural, though. You went through something traumatic, from what you\u2019ve said of it, so you\u2019ve got strong reactions that need a place to rest.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

A lump lodges in my throat as I take him in. At face value he\u2019s strength and dominance. He\u2019s a huge guy, intimidating to those who don\u2019t know him, with his black clothing, leather, and piercings. He puts out an image of power, over others, and himself. But underneath it all he hides this.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t,\u201d I utter. \u201cDon\u2019t say that again.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhy?\u201d He rolls his head to look me in the eye. \u201cIt\u2019s the truth, Dagne. I don\u2019t want to do this anymore. Every day is hard. I wake up wishin\u2019 it was time to go to sleep again, dreadin\u2019 the day before it\u2019s even happened.\u201d His face moves through frustration and anger, glimpses of pain and despair between. \u201cYou have any idea what it\u2019s like to just want to curl up in a ball and pretend the world doesn\u2019t exist?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cYeah, I do,\u201d I say. \u201cI also know what it\u2019s like to want to die. To know you\u2019re too gutless to do it yourself, so you wish for something that\u2019ll do it for you, like an illness, an accident, or a masochistic fucking father who hates the fact you breathe the same air as him.\u201d Hooch\u2019s eyes go wide, and I realize in that moment tears streak my cheeks. But fuck it\u2014he needs to hear it. \u201cI also know what it\u2019s like to be hurt so bad that you finally believe that day has come, and in that second your foolishness and selfish thoughts come back to haunt you. What it\u2019s like to realize when you\u2019re faced with your own mortality that you don\u2019t want to die \u2026 you just wish you were someone else, living another life.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cDagne\u2014\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cWhat you have to face is that you have the power to be somebody else. Fuck what your head tells you, Hooch. Your mind is a goddamn liar. It feeds off your fear, shows you your flaws while hiding your strengths. If you\u2019re not happy,\u201d I say, jabbing him in the chest, \u201cchange it. Do something about it. But don\u2019t quit.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve tried.\u201d He captures my hand, focusing on the flesh of my palm as he traces the lines with his finger. \u201cI really have, but my battery\u2019s run dry, girl.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d I say, shaking my head. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t. You just haven\u2019t found what charges it yet.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
