Teague walked along the sidewalk outside the White House, trying his damnedest to figure out why he\u2019d asked her to coffee. Bloody hell, as Kamal would say, had he lost his mind? In those moments in the press conference when he\u2019d been replying to questions while he struggled not to look at her, he\u2019d felt like twelve years had been stripped away in one supercharged moment. He still felt less than, and she was still the most beautiful woman he\u2019d ever seen.<\/p>\n

Her thick dark hair was long, just the way he\u2019d always loved it, and certain parts of his anatomy had no trouble remembering how he used to wrap those silky tresses around his hands as he pumped into her from behind, long and slow.<\/p>\n

The small shop was typically jammed, but after they got their drinks, he stalked a pair of senate interns until they got nervous and left. Grabbing the table they\u2019d vacated, he waved her over, and they each took a chair at the high two top.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what\u2019s it been?\u201d he asked, even though he knew exactly, nearly down to the minute. \u201cTen years?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTwelve,\u201d she answered. \u201cI was twenty and you were twenty-two the last time we had coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n

And sex, his mind added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it appears the years have been good to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd obviously, they\u2019ve been successful for you,\u201d she added. They each sipped their drinks, the awkward bleeding all over them.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, you married? Living with someone?\u201d he asked nonchalantly. Yeah, sure, that.<\/p>\n

She shook her head. \u201cNo. I was seeing someone back in Boston where I moved from, but it wasn\u2019t going anywhere.\u201d She looked up at him from under her lashes. \u201cAnd you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo. No time for all that. I work eighty hours a week and spend the other few at the gym or sleeping. I\u2019m not all that exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shifted on her chair, and her blouse slipped a touch, giving him a peek at the cleavage that hid beneath. His heart raced and his skin heated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, from what I heard on the news earlier, today\u2019s been enough excitement for a few years at least.\u201d<\/p>\n

He chuckled softly. \u201cIt\u2019s been a strange day for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
