\u201cLoud tonight,\u201d he replied. \u201cYou\u2019ve never been?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d she shook her head a bit surprised he wasn\u2019t catching on she was homeless. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Finn.\u201d He extended his hand like she was a human being. The simple contact warmed her.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJane,\u201d she said not wanting to let go of his warm hand, but knew she had to. \u201cYou a bartender?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNah, they don\u2019t really get breaks. I\u2019m with the tattoo parlor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She finally paid attention to the sign on the back of the door that said <\/span>Permanent Hangover<\/span><\/i>. A whiskey bottle with two tattoo guns on either side reminded her of angel wings. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is this place?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBar, club, whatever you want to call it with a few chairs for tattooing.\u201d He cleared his throat. \u201cSo, Jane, I don\u2019t suppose the last name is Doe?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, are you psychic? Only I spell it the French way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cD-O-U-G-H,\u201d he said, and she let out a laugh. \u201cJayne with a Y?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cExactly.\u201d She stuffed her hand into the pouch of her sweatshirt. A cash business would be good. Waitressing at a place could get her some much-needed funds and if nothing else Bailey knew how to flirt. \u201cAny chance they need a waitress? I know I don\u2019t look like much, but I clean up pretty good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can see that,\u201d he said as he approached her. Holding her ground, she fought the urge to flee. It was then the single light at the edge of the alley seemed far away. The exits, too. Now trapped, she wondered if she\u2019d set herself up for an assault. Instead, he lifted the lid to the trash bin and tossed his empty can of Smash. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou ever waitress before?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo, but I\u2019ve worked in customer service.\u201d Being an escort wasn\u2019t exactly a resume builder. \u201cNot for\u2014I\u2019ve never had a job really.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
