My body heats at the words, at the remembered pleasure of Sutton\u2019s mouth on my sex. Christopher looks down at me, as if he can feel the heat emanating from between my legs. His expression turns stark, as if he\u2019s in pain. That\u2019s only fair, because I\u2019m in pain too.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou deserve better than that,\u201d Christopher says, but there\u2019s no way to pretend he\u2019s talking about Sutton. He\u2019s talking about himself and we both know it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe gives me what I want, which is something you might try next time you like a girl.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t that,\u201d he says, harsh again.<\/span><\/p>\n

He sucks in a breath.\u201cYou were too young then.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

My words come out as a whisper.\u201cWhat about now? Will you do what Sutton said\u2014imagine me in this dress when you go home after this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not fucking decent,\u201d he says, even though the silk covers every part of me. It\u2019s a perfectly respectable dress, when it\u2019s not hitched up around my waist.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can thank Sutton for this,\u201d I say, because it\u2019s true. He\u2019s the only reason I lean forward and place my lips against Christopher\u2019s, touching them in some terrible attempt to show him what he gave up, to prove to myself that I don\u2019t care about either of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Christopher sucks in a breath. For a second I think he\u2019s going to pull away. He stiffens and grasps my hair with his fist. Easy enough for him to stop the kiss. Instead he dips my head back and deepens it, exploring my mouth with his teeth, his tongue. Opening me wider until I whimper. Pulling me close until I can feel how hard he is beneath his slacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

His other hand fists in the gauze of my dress, and I realize he\u2019s holding me with both hands clenched\u2014one in my hair and one in my clothes. I don\u2019t know whether he\u2019s doing it so he doesn\u2019t have to touch me or because it\u2019s a way to control me without bruising me. He uses both hands to tug me closer; I\u2019m pressed so tightly I can\u2019t imagine getting away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where Sutton had been raw sensuality and playfulness, Christopher is pure determination. He kisses me like he\u2019s a conquering army, like I\u2019m made of gold he has to grasp\u2014or lose forever.<\/span><\/p>\n
