Ava Cuvay writes Sci-fi Romance, has dipped her toes into Paranormal Romance, and writes\/illustrates children’s books under a different pen name. By day, she’s a Substitute Teacher, by evening, she’s Mom and Sweetie, and somewhere in all that she also flexes her Author skills. Third graders have declared her cool because she “has author merch,” but her teens usually just roll their eyes and her cats just glare until she throws them treats. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the moment, I’m stuck on the second book of my trilogy, so I’ll definitely say the books after books one!<\/span><\/p>\n

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Good question, for any books… stand-alones or series. And my only answer is hours of soul-searching and good critique partners!<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Surround yourself with cheerleaders (family, friends, and other authors), support other writers, celebrate the small victories, and don’t beat yourself up on the set-backs.<\/span><\/p>\n

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

None. My writing comes in spurts and I rarely get to do it on a daily basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Gasp! That’s like asking me to choose my favorite child! I love all my main characters because I love watching them grow through their story arcs.<\/span><\/p>\n

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“What a Dragon Wants” my dragon shifter story. I’d say Liu Yifei as my Chinese-American heroine, Chris Hemsworth as my Viking hero, and so, of course, Tom Hiddleston would have to play his total-a**hole older brother. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your definition of success?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Getting to publish my books and having readers enjoy them!<\/span><\/p>\n
