Sophie Stern – I’ve been writing professionally since 2005 and can’t imagine doing anything else!<\/span><\/p>\n

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The first book is usually the hardest for me because of the world building and setting the tone for the series.<\/span><\/p>\n

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I love adding in comedy. Jokes always make me laugh and I’ve found it’s a great way to mix things up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Try not to take yourself too seriously. Write what makes you happy. Some people may critique you, but also remember that the great thing about writing is that it’s easy to fix mistakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At least eight hours<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mel from my Return to Dragon Isle series is one of my favorites. I just love her adventurous spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

That’s an impossible choice! Could I get Neil Gaiman to play literally any character? \ud83d\ude42 And I would definitely want Helena Bonham Carter to play a dragon shifter.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your definition of success?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For me, being a successful writer means supporting my family on my writing – which I’ve done! <\/span><\/p>\n
