Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m Amanda Zook. I’m originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania but now live in southwest Michigan on the shore of Lake Michigan. I write romantic suspense and have had a passion for reading and writing romances since middle school.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think the later books in the series are what I’ve been struggling with most lately. Especially since readers have gotten to know the characters throughout the series and as an author you don’t want to disappoint the readers and not do one of their favorite characters justice in their own book.<\/span><\/p>\n

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I just write the story that comes to me. I don’t think about whether its fresh enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Find some support. Either your family or other authors. Plenty of author groups out there to participate in.<\/span><\/p>\n

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I try to get around 5 hours a day. Sometimes more. More often less.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think Finch from my latest release is my favorite. His story was tough, but I liked his little quirks (he loves gummy worms and always has a bag of them in his pocket).<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your definition of success?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don’t really have one for myself. I didn’t set out to do this for the money or fame. I just wanted to finally write my books. People reading\/recognizing me is just an added bonus.<\/span><\/p>\n
