T.S. Ankney T.S. Ankney read her first romance novel at age twelve, when she snuck a book with a risqu\u00e9 cover out of a relative\u2019s cabinet and read it at night under the covers with a flashlight to avoid getting caught relishing the \u201cgood parts.\u201d She is a tiny blue dot in a big red state in the Midwest US and she loves a sad song, a happily ever after, and believes representation matters. When not writing, you can find TS streaming documentaries, reading new books by her favorite authors, or indulging in reality TV competition shows like Project Runway or Great British Baking Show. <\/span><\/p>\n

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I tend to write in series where the romantic suspense plot spans three or four books, so the first book is really important to set up the worlds and and start the mystery engine. But each book presents its own challenges. <\/span><\/p>\n

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every character is unique so their story is unique. Staying true to them and getting readers on their side keeps it fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Find what works for you and do that. There\u2019s a lot of advice out there but it\u2019s not one size fits all.<\/span><\/p>\n

On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

4-6 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can\u2019t pick just one! I love them all. <\/span><\/p>\n
