This is such a good sequel! I recommend reading book one as this one picks up shortly after the first and<\/div>\n
it doesn\u2019t really go over anything from the previous book. This book has it all. Pirates, magic, magical<\/div>\n
creatures, secrets and revenge.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Volke and the other apprentice arcanists are sent with their master to protect Griffins during a bonding<\/div>\n
ceremony. Arcanists are people who have bonded with a magical creature, similar to having a familiar as<\/div>\n
a witch or wizard in other books but a bit more complicated. While on their mission the island they are<\/div>\n
on is infiltrated by pirates. Their leader is the one who took Volke\u2019s sister\u2019s eye and this sends her on a<\/div>\n
personal mission of revenge. Nothing goes as planned and it\u2019s a race to see if they can beat the pirates<\/div>\n
to what they really want.<\/div>\n

The world building is excellent and layered on to what was started in book one. You really start to get a<\/div>\n
feel for the global interaction of people and cultures in Volke\u2019s world. Character growth is also really<\/div>\n
good not only for the main character and his sister but for the other\u2019s in their apprentice group. I would<\/div>\n
recommend this for teens. There is no adult content but some violence as these pirates are not messing<\/div>\n
around.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
