#AuthorSpotlight – Kelsey Rae

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself and which Twinsie do you know.

Hi! My name is Kelsie Rae. I write contemporary romance and dark mafia romance. I have three monster kiddos, three fur babies, and a husband who still puts up with me after eleven years of marriage. 🙂 Dee Kendrick is the Twinsie I know, and she’s awesome.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

First book! Gah! I’m literally planning my 2021 series right now and it isn’t exactly what I’d call a walk in the park. Once that one is finished, it feels like it gets a lot easier.

What comes first? The plot or characters?

Ooo… good question! Usually a song sparks an idea for a story. Whether it’s a gritty voice or the sexy lyrics, that’s where I start. But I think it depends on the song as to if it sparks a scene or a specific character. Usually, I’m just along for the ride.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Rachel Van Dyken. (I’ve actually met her, and she’s amazing, despite my awkwardness. lol)

If you could ask that author three questions about their writing, writing process, or books, what would they be? How many words does she write in a day? How does she manage to connect with her readers so effortlessly?

What is harder? The blurb writing, naming the book, or naming the series?

BLURBS ARE THE DEVIL. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewritten a blurb for the same book. Usually, I feel like I’m just chucking ideas at a wall, and am praying one of them will stick.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Signings are amazing because I get to meet so many awesome readers, especially the ones who’ve reached out to me beforehand through email or social media. Each and every time I hear one of them compliment my stories is my favorite thing in the world. 🙂

#AuthorSpotlight – Paige P. Horn

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself and which Twinsie do you know.

Paige P. Horne. I live in a small town, I’ve been a server for the past 12 years and I love it. I love talking to my customers and the fast pace of it. I’m married, no kids. I’ve been published since 2015 and the only other thing I would like to do, along with writing novels/ screenplays (One day) would be to own a small restaurant or food truck with my husband. I know Tenise <3

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The others after. I’m a Pantser, so I don’t really plan out anything. With series you kinda have to, so it’s tougher for me.

What comes first? The plot or characters?

It depends. Sometimes it’s the characters, sometimes it’s an idea.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’m really into Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’ve read almost all her books. I’d also love to meet Pepper Winters.

If you could ask that author three questions about their writing, writing process, or books, what would they be? Are you a Panster or Plotter? How many hours a day do you put aside to write? For Taylor I’d ask about her novel Daisy Jones and the Six. I loved that book and I want to know her writing process and researching for it. For Pepper, I’d ask about Unseen Messages. I thought that story was fantastic and I’d want to know the same questions I asked of Taylor.

What is harder? The blurb writing, naming the book, or naming the series?

Blurb! It’s the least fun and the hardest. IMO.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

I have several, sorry. lol. Attending Shameless as a signing author was awesome. Having our town newspaper write an article about me was sweet too. And then, of course, meeting people who’ve read my words! I mean, come on, that’s a dream come true!

What is your definition of success?

“I think it depends on which subject you’re talking about having success in. If it’s a career, I think making a living doing something you love is where it’s at. Relationship/Marriage: Being with your best friend and going through this thing called life together, having them support your dreams, and you theirs. That’s magic. As for yourself, just being the best version of you, you can. If you can hit the pillow at night with a mindset that you did the best you could, then that’s success to me. ”

#AuthorSpotlight – K.I. Lynn

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself and which Twinsie do you know.

I’m Cat (K.I. Lynn) and I’m a homebody who lives with her hubby and her dog dog Juno (my sidekick). I love cheese and the color aqua.

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

Right now I am attempting my first ever intended series (the two I have were “hey, this is getting waaaay too long for one book) and I will say, possibly the first book. Because you have to introduce in a natural way characters that come into play later on (especially because it’s a family saga series) and you have to know who those characters are. I’m having to guess how a character is going to come out in their own book, which may not be written for almost two more years!

What comes first? The plot or characters?

The plot. I’ll get a rough idea with a base character vibe, but it always inevitably changes as I write.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Stephenie Meyer

What is harder? The blurb writing, naming the book, or naming the series?

Naming the book. I tend to write my blurbs when I get hit with the initial idea, because that is when I have the least information and don’t get bogged down. Naming a book is just…it either happens right away (Forever and All the Afters) or it’s like pulling teeth (Becoming Mrs Lockwood).

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Meeting my bestie, Elena M Reyes. Without writing we never would have met.

What is your definition of success?

There are multiple definitions of success I’ve hit over the years, and others that I haven’t. It goes up and morphs as I go. In the beginning it was selling 1,000 copies of Breach. Then 10,000 copies of Breach. Then 100,000 books overall. Getting in the top 100 on Amazon. Translated into other languages (Italian, German, Hebrew). It’s always changing. Right now? I want to be able to build up a down payment on a new house. I want Off the Cuff to hit the top 100 on release week in January.

#AuthorSpotlight – Andi Jaxon

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself and which Twinsie do you know.

“Andi Motherfucking Jaxon. I’m random, love rainbows, coffee, sleep, and dinosaur erotica. I think that about sums me up. I know Jo-Anna (JM Walker)”

When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?

The ones that come after!

What comes first? The plot or characters?

Oh…that’s a hard one. Plot I think.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

K Webster and JM Walker

If you could ask that author three questions about their writing, writing process, or books, what would they be?

“Do you plot? If yes, do you plot out the entire book before you start writing or just part of it? What’s harder, the first 10k or the last 10k?”

What is harder? The blurb writing, naming the book, or naming the series?

Naming the damn book

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

At Book Bonanza 18, I was standing in line to grab lunch for me and my friend and someone in line recognized me as an author and fangirled. It was mind boggling that someone knew who I was.

What is your definition of success?

This is really hard. I don’t know that I have a definition. There are goals I would like to hit, like making a list on my own, and being able to financially contribute to my household from my sales.

#Review – The Road To Heartbreak by J.L. Baldwin

From that first moment I saw Roscoe until he left town, we were the best of friends growing up.

My feelings for him grew with time, but when I finally decided to tell him how I felt, he left to travel the world with a country band, taking my heart with him.

Life has a way of giving you your own country song. I know it did for me when years later, Roscoe breezed back into my life as if no time had passed, and returned keeping a promise I thought he’d forgotten with his guitar and my heart in tow.

This novella was originally published in the Rocked to the Core Anthology, and has been rewritten and expanded with new scenes and chapters. Hope y’all enjoy!
This novella was originally published in the Rocked to the Core Anthology, and has been rewritten and expanded with new scenes and chapters. Hope y’all enjoy it!
This book was so freaking sweet. Like one of the sweetest things I have ever read. I usually go for all the smut and I actually went into this book blind, so I had no idea that it was as sweet as it was. But I am totally fine with that! It was a nice change compared to some of the dirty books I’ve read.
Roscoe and Ophelia grew up together. He came to join her family when they were kids and they ended up being foster brother and sister. But that of course never stopped their feelings from growing for each other.
They both have careers of their own. With Roscoe being a big musician and Ophelia working with animals, they focus on their jobs until something happens that calls both of them home.
Roscoe decides to take Ophelia on a little trip but of course, that doesn’t go as planned. She’s not used to being in the spot light or seeing the women fawn over the man she’s in love with, so it puts a damper on things and her feelings for him.
Together they fight the little issues that life throws at them but like all romance books that we love to devour, love conquers all!
I really enjoyed this book and could see the growth in JL’s writing. I understand that it’s been two years since she published a book but you can clearly see that she took some time to expand on her writing and story telling.

#Review – Throttled (Men of Inked Novella) by Chelle Bliss

**THROTTLED IS ALSO INCLUDED HOOK ME**

She’s about to become his – Mrs. Joseph Gallo. All she wants is to be his, but his possessiveness days before the wedding has her questioning the reality of a happily ever after.

He’s not easy. He’s territorial and doesn’t share well with others. City’s staking his claim, making Suzy his forever.
Their future teeters precariously on the cliff of matrimonial bliss. Will their love survive his alpha nature or will it all unravel before she can say ‘I do’?

Suzy and City get married!!!

This novella was so much fun and HOT! Holy City. What a hero!

This story is short but it’s jam packed with so much goodness, I absolutely loved it!

City and Suzy are in the middle of wedding planning and when their wedding fast approaches, they have their bachelor/bachelorette parties. City and the boys end up at the same bar that Suzy and the girls are at and unfortunately, City sees some guy all over his girl.

Drama happens and their relationship is tested. I guess you’ll have to read to find out what happens and how it all works out.

I loved the Christmas part of this book too. It got me a little emotional as well. Which doesn’t happen often when I read, so kudos to you, Chelle!

#Review – Hook Me (Men Of Inked, #2) by Chelle Bliss

Bad boy fighter meets good girl doctor.

Michael Gallo spends his mornings training for the UFC championship and his nights working as a piercer at Inked, his family-owned tattoo shop. He’s on the road to winning a title when he meets woman who alters his world forever.

Dr. Mia Greco is dedicated to saving lives and helping the less fortunate. She doesn’t have time to meet Mr. Right and buries herself in her work instead. Then fate steps in and sweeps the rug out from under her. She tries to deny the pull to a man that uses his fists, but the universe won’t let her walk away so easy.?

This book includes Throttled, a Men of Inked bonus novella.

Oh well this series only gets better and better. I know I know. I’m super late to the game and should have read these books forever ago. Chelle’s going to be writing the grandchildren’s stories by the time I’m done.

Michael is a MMA fighter and a bad boy. Never thinking he’d settle down. You know the type.

Mia is a doctor and she definitely never thought she’d settle down. With her job taking most of her time, she doesn’t have any time for dating, that’s for sure.

Michael ends up in her ER after getting hurt and there was an instant connection. After bumping into each other again, sparks fly and they end up going on a date.

They have some fun because of course, Mia feels she isn’t ready for a relationship but Michael is a persistent one. He wants her happy and does something sweet for her that I had a smile on my face the whole time when he revealed the surprise to her.

I loved reading about the side characters again and reading about the Gallo family dynamic. The characters are strong and I want to be best friends with the girls.

#Review – Throttle Me (Men of Inked Book 1) by Chelle Bliss

“Everything we LOVE in a book!” ~Ana’s Attic Book Blog

What happens when the good girl falls for the bad boy?

Suzy is a control freak and has her life mapped out. She’s content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down.

City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, but a chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever – a relationship.

A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything.

Is the tattooed bad boy her knight in shining armor? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that could change everything?

Throttle Me is the first book in the USA Today bestselling Men of Inked series by Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Chelle Bliss.
SEXY as hell read.” ~The Romance Vault
“This book had me WEAK AT THE KNEES!” ~Fictional Men’s Page
HOOKED from page one.” ~United Indies Book Blog

Oh where do I start?? Well, this book was fun!

So I’ve known Chelle for a while but haven’t had a chance to read her Men of Inked books yet. I’ve read others by her and am finally going through the rest. I do have to say right off the bat that I’m glad I read Kayden and Sophia’s books before reading this one. Not that you have to read them first but it’s mentioned a few times throughout this book that Sophia and Kayden had it hard in the beginning, which they did. So I liked that I knew their history.

Suzy’s car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and who comes to rescue her? City of course. Right away, there’s some chemistry between them. After a few drinks, the sparks fly even more!

City is a tattoo artist and is not Suzy’s type at all. She’s a good girl and had a list in her head on who her future husband should be. She wasn’t expecting to fall for anyone even remotely close to resembling City. Tattoos, piercings and a whole lot of Alpha!

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the rest of the books! I have so much to catch up on but am looking forward to the journey!

#Review – Bully King by Andi Jaxon

I’m the pastor’s son.
He’s the star quarterback for a small Kentucky high school.
While the town worships him, I pray for God to take my life.
He makes my life a living hell by making me his victim.
This perverse game we play could end us both.
How can something that feels so right be so wrong?
The price if the truth is discovered is death, but I can’t stop.
Neither can he.
No one can know.
Can I risk it?
Is Roman King worth dying for?

*This story is a bully romance including dubious consent, assault, talk of suicide and is intended for readers 18+. Please proceed with caution.*

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Oh my gosh. Where do I even begin?????? So I’ve known Andi Jaxon for awhile now. She started out as a client (I do designing on the side) and then we became friends AND to top it off, she reads my stuff too!! I’m also an author but I consider her a friend first and foremost! Anyway. So she had me read a novella about Roman and Jonah and I was like, sure! It was short, I had time, so I figured, why not right?? I read it, loved it but needed more. Which usually happens after reading a novella. Am I right? I knew Bully King was about Roman and Jonah and of course I had pre-ordered it. So when Andi offered me an ARC, I was himming and hawing because I wasn’t sure if I would get it read in time for release day. According to Goodreads, I read it in 4 days, which hasn’t happened to me in quite awhile. I’m a super slow reader but GAH, this book!

First, if you love MM (male/male) books, you absolutely HAVE to pre-order this now or one-click this on release day!

This book borders on dark. It deals with some sensitive subjects but it was so well written, it’s easy to see through the darkness to find the light.

Both Roman and Jonah spoke to me.

While Roman had a difficult life at home, Jonah’s home life wasn’t easy either. Being a gay kid with a preacher of a father, especially with where they live, made it even more difficult.

Jonah: Oh my gosh, this sweet sweet boy. His fear over what his father would think if he found out his son is gay. His fear over what the town would think. His fear is real. It’s there. It’s raw.

Roman: This boy stressed me out something fierce. He was mean but nice. Cold but warm. He needed Jonah but pushed him away. His pain was in your face and you saw it even though he hid it.

I absolutely loved Mary! And the rest of the side characters!

Jonah and Roman together was insane. They were passionate and aggressive.

There were parts of this story that even I had a hard time reading and had to put my tablet down for a breath or two. There was also a chapter where I held my breath through it all. A book has not caused these sort of feelings to stir in me in such a long time.

10 stars, Andi! 10 freaking huge bright shiny stars! I am so proud of you! Now give me more words. xx
