#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlight – Lauren Helms

Lauren Helms
Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Hi! My name is Lauren Helms, and I’m a romance author! I write flirty and nerdy contemporary romance. My first three books are part of my Gamer Boy series. My next release is a standalone, but part of the multi-author series, 425 Madison. I’ve been an author for three years now, and I still love it!

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite place, but its the only place, my desk at home. And while I’m writing, I don’t eat. But when the words aren’t flowing I snack on candy.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

I’ve only been to one signing. It was a small event at my local library. I enjoyed talking with readers and meeting author authors. I’m really excited about the Author Indy Event this September.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

My unicorn authors are Lauren Layne and Colleen Hoover.

What author would you love to write with?

I would love to write with author Cassie Graham.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

That would have to be when I meet someone (in real life AND online) who I don’t have connections with, and they have read my books and loved them. It makes me feel like people are actually reading my words.

What author would you love to write with?

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlight #EventHost – Avelyn Paige

Avelyn Paige

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Avelyn Paige. I am a cancer research scientist by day, and an author by night.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

My favorite place to write is wherever I can find a few second. I have written on my phone during church when a thought hit so no place is safe from writing time. I’m not really a snacker when I write, but there’s always a can of coke nearby.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

The people. I am a social butterfly naturally, but getting to be in a place with so many like-minded individuals is absolutely inspiring and so, so much fun. The event itself always goes by way too fast.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Oh lord have mercy. There’s way too many. Some that would even require a time machine because they aren’t with us anymore. If I had to pick a current favorite, I’d love to pick the brain of Darynda Jones.

What author would you love to write with?

I’d honestly love to write a PNR with Darynda or Chloe Neill.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Again… so many memories. I think my favorite would have to be the first time someone recognized outside of a signing. My husband and I were at our local casino for a night out, and a reader spotted me there. It was such a fun experience, and to meet a reader so close to home was amazing.

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Hope Daniels, I’m half of the writing team to the Magical Forces Series books.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

My favorite place to write is actually outside. Unfortunately, the sun makes it difficult to stay out there long and write. So, my second favorite place to write is in my bedroom with my feet up and music playing.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting the readers and introducing them to my books. My characters take on a life of their own and I tend to get animated when I talk about them. 🙂
I love the interaction between authors and getting to meet the authors that I read and review. The energy is undeniable. If you weren’t pumped before you arrived, you will be before you leave.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Nora Roberts, Larissa Ione, Lorelei James (Sorry, I couldn’t pick just one)

What author would you love to write with?

Dianna Love, Larissa Ione

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Holding my first paperback in my hands is one. The one which made me tear up is when we were at an event and a fan came to our table and said they read our book and loved it. Now they needed it in paperback.

Melissa Toppen- I am a married, mother of two, who lives in Cincinnati Ohio. I’ve been writing full time for the last five years.

I’ve been so blessed to meet so many amazing authors, along with most of my favorites. Some authors still on my list are Katy Evans, Aly Martinez, and Kandi Steiner.

What author would you love to write with?

Kandi Steiner. I have a major girl crush on her for sure!

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

\At my last signing, a reader cried in line as she waited to meet me. All I could think to myself was -wow, my book affected her that deeply-. To see how touched she was by something I created is not something I can easily put into words.

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlight – AJ Renee

A.J. Renee

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

AJ Renee. Military wife, mother, daughter, sister… I like long walks on the beach, beer, wine, scotch, and cosmos. I consider myself a Florida girl since I lived there the longest time. I’ve never officially used my college degrees in the 12+ years I’ve had them. I’m a nerd, goofball, and loyal to a fault. I’m also an open book so if you’re curious about something feel free to ask.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

I work the best at my desk. I drink hot tea while I write and try to avoid the snacks. Writing is awful for my waistline.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting everyone! I do get a little shy and feel awkward but it’s because I don’t always know what to say or do.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Kathleen Brooks

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlights – Sandra Sookoo

Sandra Sookoo
Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Sandra Sookoo, and I’ve written 80+ books in romance and romantic suspense. I’m also the author of the popular Thieves of the Ton series as well as the Lords of the Night series. Here’s my bio: Sandra Sookoo is a USA Today bestselling author who firmly believes every person deserves acceptance and a happy ending. Most days you can find her creating scandal and mischief in the Regency-era, serendipity and happenstance in Victorian America or snarky, sweet humor in the contemporary world. Most recently she’s moved into infusing her books with mystery and intrigue. Reading is a lot like eating fine chocolates—you can’t just have one. Good thing books don’t have calories!

When she’s not wearing out computer keyboards, Sandra spends time with her real life Prince Charming in central Indiana where she’s been known to goof off and make moments count because the key to life is laughter. A Disney fan since the age of ten, when her soul gets bogged down and her imagination flags, a trip to Walt Disney World is in order. Nothing fuels her dreams more than the land of eternal happy endings, hope and love stories.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

My favorite place to write is my office. It’s full of Disney stuff, Doctor Who stuff and posters of my favorite book covers, as well as books. I’m more productive in there than anywhere else. As for food? I really don’t eat while writing, which is the great thing about writing–your hands are busy so you can’t stuff your face LOL I do, however, pause for lunch.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting old readers and making new ones.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

That’s like picking a favorite book LOL

What author would you love to write with?

I’m not really an author who writes in tandem with anyone else. Although, I did it for a time when I wrote erotic Regency. It was fun. Would I do a project with a fellow author again? Maybe, if the project was right and I got along well with the author 🙂

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

]Hitting the USA Today bestseller list in 2017. Challenging myself as a writer with different series that stretch and strengthen my skills. Working with my husband on cover art (he’s the artist behind many of my covers)

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlights – Kenzie Michales

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, sitting
Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m Kenzie Michaels, author of ten steamy novels and karaoke addict:) I’m also a full-time wife, mom, and grandma, and am about to acquire a daughter-in-law next year, courtesy of my oldest son popping the Big Question Feb 15th. We live in the southwest corner of Indiana, and I’m also in the process of clearing out the house next door to us and turning it into my private library/office.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

Right now, my favorite place is at my desk, and the muse likes Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. When those aren’t available, the Mint Oreos are a good substitute!

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Definitely meeting readers! I also like to network with other authors, to swap promotional ideas and learn of new signing opportunities. Face it; we’re all here to help each other.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’d love to meet Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, and Lavryl Spencer. I read these ladies when in my twenties, and still have their books. I’d also love to meet Judy Blume, whom I read as a teenager, which inspired me to write about social issues.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Hands down, my favorite memory is when I ventured out to promote my 1st book. I’d set up at a local craft fair, and a woman bought one. I saw her the next day, and she told me she’d begun reading it, and could hardly wait to get back to it. Day #3, she made a beeline for my table, slapped her hands down, and exclaimed, “I loved it! Stayed up too late to finish it, but I couldn’t put it down. When’s your next one coming out?” I stammered, “Ummm….when I get a publisher?” Then gave her a one-page ‘sneak peek’ of #2. I’ve never been back to that venue since publishing the others, so I have no idea if she even knows about the others.
