Devon Roberts was familiar with loss. He’d lost his wife and, in a way, he’d lost himself. Moving through life with two kids, doing everything he could to make life good again for his son and daughter, meant romance was the last thing on his mind.

Until he saw her.

Again.

She was the first person to make him feel as though loving someone else wouldn’t be wrong.

Even though he thought his loss was unbearable, he never could have fathomed she might have had more slip through her fingers.

He’d fought before; fought for his family, for his love, and for his life. But her fight, although buried deep and festering within, was a fight he wasn’t sure he had the strength to overcome.

All he knew for sure was that his life was better in the presence of Grace.

Beast:
-a wild animal that is large, dangerous, or unusual.
-an unkind cruel person
-Holden Reed

Football was everything for Holden Reed, through blood, sweat, and tears he lived his life for the game. The spotlight that endlessly followed him due to his fame, was his downfall, especially when he failed to keep his anger in check. Due to his lack of control and explosive bouts of rage, he rightfully earned the nickname, “The Beast.” And with the results of his rogue actions, he heard the one word no professional athlete ever wanted to hear. Suspension.

After what was supposed to be a mandatory time-out to straighten out his ways, he finds himself at the mercy of a beautiful Innkeeper while stuck at a Bed & Breakfast in the backwoods of Colorado.
Dutiful:
-conscientiously or obediently fulfilling one’s duty.
-motivated by duty rather than desire or enthusiasm
-Marlee Tate

Once upon a time, Marlee Tate devoted her life to a prestigious PR firm, taking an active role in following her hopes and aspirations. But with one phone call from her family, she was ready to toss her dreams aside without hesitation to be the daughter she felt she needed to be. Now, she’s back at home, forced to work at her family’s livelihood, Tate Manor.

During what was considered to be the worst snowstorm in Colorado history, the treacherous weather sent the abrupt but intriguing stranger crashing into her doorstep.

What will happen when two guarded souls collide together after being hidden away from the outside world? When half-truths come to light and hearts are meaninglessly tossed aside? Will they arise from their stubborn stupor or continue to keep each other at arm’s length?

“I have a confession. I took one look at this cover and signed up for this bad boy. And I was not disappointed!!!” – Quinn’s Quippy Quotes

angies review

I received a copy of their book from the author for an honest review.

HI-CHEE-MAMA!! Can we talk about holden? Wait no. can we talk about the quote at the begining of the book and how it sets the tone for the novel? Beauty and the Beast? What girl DOESN’T WANT her own Beast well and a library too but that would be an added bonus!!

Holden AKA The Beast is a jacka$$ who gets away with alot in life. He is able to do and say as he pleases without fear of repercussions because of what a great player and prospect he is. Well the coach is over him and sends Holden away. Holden is not a happy camper when he exile to the beautiful sunny beaches of Hawaii is detoured to the snowy state of Denver. After a crash navigating an incoming storm he wanders in to the B&B that Marlee runs.
Marlee is a good girl. She came home and left her dreams in the big city to take care of her ailing parents. She is not thrilled with her life but she is just kind of living. When he is shocked at the bleeding, grouch who enters her manor she is struck stupid. She cant even speak. The two have major hilarious banter and some yummy chemistry for dang sure too…I mean she is convinced he is a serial killer…..LOL
When the couple are locked up and “hooking up” the world around them essentially stops….when the storm is over and Real Life enters…they are now confronted with the WHAT DO WE DO and more importantly WHO ARE YOU REALLY????

Think about baseball.
That’s the tactic they say to use, right?
When your mind was running rampant with devious sexual thoughts that would make your grandmother blush, and your heart was beating itself into some sort of intense frenzy, you’re supposed to think about baseball.
Baseball. I kept chanting in my head, thinking it’ll automatically turn off the loop of images. I never thought my sexual prowess was this demanding before.

It was the bottom of the ninth inning, you are up at bat. Your fingers squeezing on the rubber grip of the bat as you get into position. The sun is sweltering on your skin, and the helmet doesn’t allow for much air flow especially with your thick locks shoved underneath. Even with the sweat building up inside your batting gloves making your hands slip, you try to grip onto the bat even tighter. You think of your teammates and how disappointed they’ll be if you don’t get this hit, not to mention how disappointed you’d be in yourself.

But like always you tend to overthink things especially the outcome of the situation, and instead of keeping your eye on the ball and your head in the game you freeze. Your muscles lock up tight as your entire body tenses up.
I can’t believe I tensed up.

Nothing but Holden’s lips have been on my mind since last night and thinking about what exactly the extent of what his abilities with said lips would be.

I was a disgrace to the entire female race.

I was certainly a failure to myself.

And if the deep audible breath Holden took before retreating was anything to go by, a disappointment to him as well.

I hated being a disappointment and even more being humiliated which I wouldn’t doubt was the exact emotion Holden was going through at this very moment. I always did what was asked of me without any voiced objections. It made for a rather tame and uneventful life on my part, but it was safe.

So why did I keep going against everything I’ve ever done when I’m with Holden?

And why wasn’t I regretting this entire interaction?

I bent down to retrieve the dish soap from underneath the counter, hyper aware of where Holden was standing with each and every movement.

Thinking of baseball backfired in my face. I didn’t think anything would help calm my nerves and my racing heart.

Why did I have to be so abnormal and freak out with the very thought of a guy’s lips on my skin? I wanted them there, damn it. I wanted his lips on me more than I wanted my next breath, and breathing was very crucial to living.

Could I dare ask him to try it again? Would he find me morally repulsive after my first brush off?

New mother and Divinity, Lydia Rayners, is no stranger to heartache and loss. Her father, husband, and brother were taken from her by the demons, and now they want her son. Excerpt One:
BASTARDS.
The two demons suspiciously lurking around the front of the hospital were up to no good. Lydia was sure of it. That was why she followed them—at a reasonable distance, of course—along the streets on the south bank of the St. Johns River.
Revenge coiled inside her, creating an angry ball of power waiting to be unleashed on the demons. They would not get away with destroying everything she loved. Or hurting any innocents in their paths.
Concern for the humans was the only thing holding her back. Her Divine power may be to heal, but pain from the loss of her family fueled the dark side of her power. The side she hid and had sworn to never use. Well, never use on an innocent. Demons were far from saints.
The hellspawns stopped suddenly. The one on the left, the taller one with shoulder-length blond hair, turned his head to peer behind them as if sensing something. Her. Lydia pressed her back into the cold brick wall and tried to slow her breathing and heart rate.
Warmth grew inside her and spread out to her palms. She kept her hands fisted by her sides, not wanting the demons to see the glow of the fire she’d called just in case the bastards decided to get stupid. She also didn’t want them to see through the shadow spell she’d cast to conceal her presence from them.
After a few moments, one of the demons turned back around, shook his head, and both demons continued walking again. Lydia pulled the fire back a little and waited until the creep brothers rounded the next corner before following again.
There were too many humans around for Lydia to make her move. Even at midnight, downtown Jacksonville was hopping with humans enjoying the cooling fall night air and the array of festivities going on around the Riverwalk.
Pushing off the wall, she moved past a small group of humans and stalked after the demons. As she’d suspected, they headed in the direction of the warehouse their not-so-mighty leader, Demetrius Grayson, used as a cover for his demonic operations.
A few blocks farther, and the hairs on the back of her neck rose as a dark, oil-like residue hung in the air. A low growl from behind her told her it was another demon.
Busted.
She whirled around and thrust her hand out, releasing the fire she’d called earlier. A softball-size fireball hit the demon in the chest. He managed to let out a scream before the flames spread over his body, and he poofed into a pile of ash on the ground.
She turned at the same time one of the other demons crashed into her, sending both of them flying into the brick wall. Pain ripped through her back and head. Reaching out, she placed a palm on the demon’s chest over his heart and called her healer’s gift. The gift she’d been born with and had been able to fully use by the time she was five. Even though her Divine gift was to magically heal, she could also reverse the healing process. In this case, she used it to stop the demon’s heart from beating.
The demon’s eyes widened when he realized what she was doing. He jerked and rolled out of her reach, but the damage was already done. She’d slowed his heart, and the blood flow through his body so much he couldn’t move fast enough. Smiling, she flipped to her back and grabbed his ankle. It was enough contact for her to stop his heart altogether. He fell to the ground with a thud.
The silence of the night caught her off guard. She peered around at the empty alley. “Fuckin’ chickenshit.”
The third demon was nowhere to be seen.
And he’d seen her face.
Damn it!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I love this authors writing.  The banter that her characters always have cracks me up.  Hope and Royce are no different than her other books.

Hope hires her brother’s ex, Ashley to come and model for the family’s winery.  Little does she know her future would also be tagging along.  Royce is Ashley’s modeling agent.  He sees Hope and is infatuated with her sassy attitude and fierce spirit.  Hope sees Royce and is attracted to his mind annnnd hot body!!

The couple have a misunderstanding or three through the course of the novella which cause Royce to be pummeled by people…again the scenes are super funny.  The couple are falling in love but can they make it after the 2 week time limit is up.

I am looking forward to reading Val and Ashley’s book as well because those two are tripping up a great reunion by being stubborn!!

“I’ll save myself from further embarrassment by cutting in.” His voice was deep, and I caught his scent before I saw him. Jack smiled at me and made a face like he’d gotten in trouble.

“I’m off to get Arlene some more wine.” He elbowed Cole in the ribs. “She gets a little randy after she’s had a few.” He laughed and scampered away to find his wife while Cole rolled his eyes in disgust.
He took my small hand in his big one, and my entire body flushed with heat at his proximity. Our hands had never touched before. If anything, he did his best to avoid any sort of contact with me.His skin against mine was electric.Just our hands touched, but it felt as if he was touching me everywhere. He laced one arm around my waist as the notes of another ballad filled the room. We were dancing like old people, my hand in his, his arm around my waist, and my other hand resting on his shoulder.

That big, broad shoulder hidden behind his tuxedo coat.

My fingers flexed involuntarily, and I couldn’t help but notice how hard his entire body was beneath that sexy tux. My mind wandered and my mouth watered as I thought back to that picture I’d seen of him wearing just his swim trunks. That mental image mixed with the man in the flesh sent an aching need right to my core.

He pulled me just a bit closer to him, surprising the hell out of me, and I felt something rigid pressing against my hip.

Holy. Shit.

Was he as hot for me as I was for him?

No way. There was no possible way.

But his erection digging into me told a completely different story.

“What was my father telling you?” he asked in a deep rumble. I looked up into his eyes.

God, he was handsome. His milk chocolate irises had golden flecks in them that I’d never been close enough to notice before, and his breath smelled of peppermint.

I couldn’t think when I was this close to him. Words caught in my throat.

“That bad?” he asked. I sensed his nervousness.

I cleared my throat and broke our eye contact so I could think. “Just a proud father bragging about the time his son took off his clothes in a department store.”

“God. He tells everybody that stupid story. I’m surprised this is the first time you’ve heard it.”

I smiled. “It’s not so bad.”

“I was ten.”

I choked on my laugh as I tried to hold it in.

“It’s okay. You can laugh.”

I didn’t hold back, and even Cole chuckled along with me. I couldn’t help the joy that filled my heart in hearing even a small chuckle out of the man who was in a perpetual bad mood.

I made the mistake of looking up at him as we both laughed. When he smiled, adorable little crinkles outlined his eyes and he had a tiny dimple in just his left cheek. He looked carefree and young, ten times more beautiful than he had just moments earlier.

But when our eyes met, the mood instantly changed.

Neither of us was laughing anymore. Instead, an intense heat passed between us and the air around us filled with a raw and savage tension.

Wow…..what a twisted tale Emily weaves. An ugly double murder of her parents and repeated rape by the murderer while watching the life drain from her parents. A difficult trial that ended up a mistrial and ultimate release of the guilty party. How wouldn’t be all kinds of fucked up and traumatized? I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Ok so this is a standalone and its book 3 buuuut I gotta admit I felt a little bit off in this book.  SO what am I gonna do?  Go and read book 1 and 2…LOL  I just want to put that out there for anyone like me who hadn’t read the other books.  It might make you feel a little outta the loop.

Ember wakes up and soon discovers she has been kidnapped.  Now not the thing you wanna have happen to you for sure.  She essentially tells the kidnappers that she is worth LOTS if alive ad unharmed.  So what do they do?  They sell her to Jager who has no clue who this chick is.

Jager is a hot mess…tortured soul alpha ladies…don’t we love them????  He realizes who she is and is totally keeping her safe because of her who dad is.  It seems that Embers mom took her away from the club life and her dad so people didn’t even k now Roadrunner had a daughter.

Jager and Ember’s story is awesome and I actually am looking forward to going back and reading the other 2 books because I am a huge MC reader and now I wanna know about the other guys I was reading about.  Gotta find me a patch member to claim for myself….damn too bad Ember and Jager worked out *wink*

Prologue

Jager

The sound wasn’t what woke me. I had no idea why I’d stirred in the middle of the night. Usually, I was a sound sleeper.
No, the sound came after I’d already started to wake. I lost the seconds I had trying to place it. It came from the hallway, a mix of solid knocking and rattling.
A picture frame, the answer came to me.
It was only that knowledge that had me moving. There was no reason for any of the frames I had hanging in the hall to make that sound. Not unless…
The door to my room flew open. There were men there, three of them. I didn’t waste time staring. Instead, I scrambled to the side of the bed. I just had to get to the nightstand. There was a gun in the drawer—the gun Dad had taught me to shoot and insisted I have.
I got the drawer open, but never reached my only saving grace. One of the men was on me, grabbing me around the chest and hauling me backward. I fought. I kicked and hit at him, my training lost and raw instinct to fight or die kicking in. Another man came close, and I screamed with all I had.
I tried to fight him back, both legs kicking out, but his partner turned me. I felt the sharp prick at my arm. It didn’t take long. Even as I continued to scream, to try to break away, darkness took over the edges of my vision, closing in until there was nothing left.

When I woke, I was facing a wall covered in its own layer of dirt, broken up only by a rust-colored track of water from a leak above.
Where was I?
I tried to remember, tried to fight the fog to grasp onto anything that would tell me how I ended up in such a place.
I was home, in my room. I’d gone to bed…
The picture frame.
Like a dam breaking, it came back. The men, fighting them off, losing consciousness.
My head swam, my vision hazy. I had to figure out where I was, how to get out of here. I moved, feeling an ache like I had never known through every muscle. Then, a stinging pain in my arm. I looked there, seeing the IV. I followed the cord from my arm to a bag hanging on the wall above my head.
It was only then I noticed I wasn’t alone.
I shot to sitting, jerking back to the wall. But what I saw wasn’t a threat. What I saw was three women, all of them frail, malnourished, and dirty. To my left were iron bars. We were in a cell, me and those women. Soon, I would look like they did.
“Where are we?” I found the voice to ask. My throat was dry. So much so, it hurt to speak. That was when I noted how my skin felt like I hadn’t showered in days.
Had it been days?
“We don’t know,” one—she looked to be the oldest—answered. Her voice sounded as rough as mine. When was the last time they’d been given water?
“How…how did we—”
She shook her head sadly. Beneath the grime, I realized she was, in fact, the oldest—maybe five years older than me, no more. Her dark hair was long, matted, her skin pale, her eyes flat.
“Sometimes, they take us, sometimes…” she trailed off, looking to her side. I followed her gaze to the woman next to her. She was blonde like me, and looked to be about my age from what I could see of her face as she peered over her knees. “Sometimes, we are sold to them.”
Oh God.
My eyes moved past the blonde, terrified someone had given her over to this fate. What I saw hit me harder than anything I had experienced since I’d woken up.
The last woman was no woman at all. She was just a girl. She had light brown hair that needed washing weeks ago. Her cheeks were sunken in. She had been down here a while.
“How old are you?” I couldn’t help but ask.
She didn’t talk, just hid her face behind her hands, the woman who had spoken to me already answered for her.
“Fifteen.”
Fifteen. She was still a child. What were they doing with a child?
What were they doing with any of us?
It was hours before the man came down the hall, appearing in front of our cell. I’d long since dealt with the IV. I didn’t have the finesse to pull the needle free without it tugging and scratching beneath the surface, but the discomfort was worth it when I watched a small flood of whatever they were injecting me with escape. Tricia, the woman who had been talking to me since I woke, told me it was a sedative mix. If I left the IV alone, I’d go back under. I’d already been there for three days. How long I’d arrived after they’d taken me was anyone’s guess. The last thing I wanted was to lose any more time in this place.
Tricia also told me the names of the others. Katia, the blonde, and Sarah, the young girl.
“I’ve been here about two months, I think,” she explained. “Sometimes it can get hard to track how long it’s been. They come once a day with food and water. That’s the only real way to tell time down here.” There was something in her expression when she mentioned the provisions they were given, something disgustingly similar to longing.
“But why are we here?” I asked, not even sure if I expected her to have an answer.
She didn’t respond, but I could see in her face that she did know.
I met her eyes and repeated, “Why are we here?”
Her gaze turned sympathetic, as if she weren’t down here as well, as if she hadn’t been here far longer than I had. She felt bad for me because whatever she was going to share was going to make this whole nightmare worse.
“They intend to sell us.”
Sell us. I wouldn’t even let my mind wander to what that might mean. I forced myself to seal off thoughts of who would want to buy us. I had to keep myself together. Letting my mind go there was not the way to do it.
After that, there wasn’t much to say.
Then, the man came to the cell. He was brutish, large, and outright intimidating. He didn’t say a thing as he approached the metal bars holding us captive. He simply inspected the nearly empty IV bag, seeing I’d freed myself from the line attached to it.
I had no idea if what I was about to do was stupid—whether it would get me punished, hurt, or worse. I just knew where I was was about as bad as it could get. I had to try something.
“There’s a motorcycle club, in Hoffman, Oregon. They’ll buy me. They’ll pay whatever you ask,” I practically shouted at him.
He stared at me, not responding.
“The Savage Disciples. They’ll buy me.”
He walked away without a word.

angies review

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
This book!! The triangle ….2 men and 1 woman……Faith and Eli….the relationship is amazing but Eli and his addictions ruined it. I mean how long can you hold on to someone who can’t help themselves???
Max….he has loved Faith for as long as he can remember. She is Eli’s so he stays away. He is the carefree never going to settle down guy. He is drinking and having a different woman every night. He has given up on having the one woman he wants but when he finds out Faith is no longer with Eli….he has hope. The two form a loving relationship. No its not the same kind she has with her first love but first love is always harder to get over. First love always burns brighter and with more passions but that doesn’t mean that the first love is the better love to keep once it has returned.
This book is a but rough at times. The alcoholism was not at all glossed over. Faith and her enabling ways was not glossed over. The abuse and all that comes with addiction are hit head on. If these are touchy subjects areas for you, I think you may want to really consider if this is a book for you or if you should pass.
 about the author
I was born in Overland Park, KS, in the heart of Tornado Alley, and my life has been a bit twisted since. Actually, it’s not all that twisted, but I’ve always wanted to use that line. I grew up in St. Louis, MO, went to school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and moved to Bloomington, IL, fresh out of college, after my husband got a job at State Farm’s corporate headquarters. I’ve worked as a high school/junior college teacher, personnel recruiter, office manager of a jewelry store, and, for the past ten years, as a lunch lady. I like to karaoke and attend rock concerts. I am actively involved at church and spend too much time on Facebook. I am the mother of a eighteen-year-old, and sixteen-year-old triplets, and have been married to my husband, Don, for over twenty-four years.
I have been a writer all my life. My first book, which was co-written with Mary Ellen Murphey in second grade, was titled The Black Cat, and was written on blue hotel stationary, hole-punched, and bound by white yarn. I believe it is currently out of circulation.
When I turned forty, I had an epiphany of sorts. I realized those bigwig publishing houses in New York were now probably run by people younger than me, so I shouldn’t be intimidated by them. At about the same time I was watching one of those award shows, and Jaclyn Smith got up to give a post-humorous award to Aaron Spelling. She credited him for encouraging her to go into acting, saying something brilliant like, “Reach for your dreams.” Nothing new. Almost even seems a little Jiminy Cricketish. But, for some reason, it struck me that night. When Aaron Spelling was thirteen, he was probably just like any other acned thirteen-year-old. But he worked to achieve his dreams, and became a household name. So, I began to write. Once I finished my first book, I wasn’t able to stop. I would rather write than do just about anything else. After all, you get to make people (characters) do what you want and design your own happy endings. What power! What a privilege.
