#WOTR24 #Review – Georgia Roots Revealed (The Romy Files) by Savannah Verte and Shelly Small

She thought she was getting away. She wasn’t. In the time it took FBI agent Romy Griffin to doze off, she was pulled into another horrific case. Her empathic abilities made her a better agent, but also an easier target. The latest draws her into a nightmare that has been playing out for nearly as long as she’s been alive…and not by coincidence. When it’s over, maybe she’ll get to rest, but before that, she’ll have to uncover the crimes of her uncle, learn the role her mother played in the mess, and come face to face with her father…just as her Georgia roots are revealed. Who needs enemies when you have family?

Review by Twinsie Kelly

Romy Griffin is an FBI agent whose empathic abilities make her a fantastic source to solve cases but it also takes an incredible toll on her mentally and physically. After one particular grueling case and following the death of her grandmother, all she wants to do is relax. Rest and relax. She is drawn to this small town but feels that something is not right. As she follows her instincts and her heart, she uncovers more than just a murder, but also her Georgia roots.

The characters are well written as well as the story. I felt like I was a fly on the wall the entire time. With every page I turned and read, I couldn’t help but turn to the next page to find out what happened. But the twist at the end will make you want more! The story and plot was fabulous and I look forward to finding out what other cases that Romy will find herself in. Absolutely gripping!

Review by Twinsie Kelly

Ghosts, strippers, witches, and a sexy landlord all on Bourbon Street…need I say more?

I read this blurb and was like, “Hell YES! Sign me up!”

I knew that it was going to be a wild ride but I did not expect that I wouldn’t be able to stop turning the pages. I NEEDED to know what happened next.

Jade is new to Bourbon Street fresh from Idaho and is in need of lessons on misbehaving. She is the epitome of Miss Responsibility. She rents an apartment that everyone knows is haunted, but when the ghost comes out to play, things get real. Some really great friendships are formed and new love starts to bloom, but this does not make the spirits happy. Things get amusing and chaotic and help is needed in many forms. Next thing you know, there are ghost hunters, witches, and other spirits. The story is cute and twisted, the characters are witty and fun, and kept me on the edge of my seat as I turned each page.

I thoroughly enjoyed the chaotic, but amusing, rollercoaster of the first book in this series. I am a new fan and ready for more!

Wit and banter… check!

Super steamy scenes (wags eyebrows)… check!

Crazy exes… check!

All wrapped up in the most adorable happily ever after Hallmark movie… CHECK!!!

First, I have to say that when I picked this book up, I didn’t realize it was part of a series. Second, you don’t have to read the others in the series. This is a complete stand alone. There were some areas that I figured there was another backstory but in no way shape or form did it impact this story at all. This story has just about a little bit of everything.

Oakley and Finn are absolute opposites, including their age. Oakley has been commissioned to paint for Finn’s family celebration. Finn fights everything when it comes to Oakley, small talk, ogling each other, thinking about her, and the list goes on and on. Oakley tries to hate Finn for the way he is treating her. However, they these two end up crawling under each other’s skin and when Finn uses Oakley to try and get his ex off his back, Finn and Oakley are forced into positions that they can no longer fight.

I don’t usually care for a lot of books that are super sweet and sugary. In fact, when I first started reading this, it immediately felt Hallmark-esque. However, that did not last long at all. Finn and Oakley keep each other on their toes and became an incredible love story that I could NOT PUT DOWN! I am so in love with them that I am ready to go back and read the entire series.

Greer is trying to think of everything she could do to help I mean she can’t ask her dad for more money she already asked for ten grand, if she asked for more, he would surely want to know what she needs it for this time. the competition is getting closer, the feelings between Greer and her guys are also getting stronger, and they all are worried about what will happen between them when the summer is over, and Greer goes to college. Will they get to surf for the prize money to fight for their future. Will all the drama from Greer’s family stay away from them, and will they find Drew? this was the perfect end to this group, I’m obsessed and totally need more from Mary and Melissa, this had just the right amount of drama, hilarious moments and lots of SPICE and not just from the chef in the kitchen.

BLURB: Laci Rocha Peterson, 8 months pregnant, was last seen by her sister, Amy, in the late afternoon of December 23, 2002. She spoke to her mother, Sharon Rocha, at 8:30 p.m. that night. This would be the last time anyone from her immediate family ever spoke to her.

A search began which lasted an agonizing four months. Sadly, Laci Peterson and her son Conner were found dead on the shores of San Francisco Bay on April 18, 2003.

Her husband, Scott, was eventually arrested and charged with the murder of Laci and Connor. After a sensational, media-saturated trial, Peterson was found guilty of capital murder and was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005.

This book deals with the story in three separate sections: first, Sharon describes the ordinary, loving life her daughter led, including fond memories of her childhood and adolescence. Second, it covers her marriage, disappearance, the community’s moving search for her, and her and Connor’s eventual recovery from San Francisco Bay. Third, it tells the story of the trial in detail not before revealed. Sharon will also talk about victim’s rights, a subject on which she now campaigns regularly.

REVIEW: i bought this book here is my honest opinion

wow just wow I personally didn’t know much about the case in the beginning, I was just in elementary, but the older I got the more I learned about it, and I always guessed that Scott had killed Laci and their unborn son. So of course, when I seen this book at a thrift store i grabbed it up immediately. But like it states in the book the how, where and the biggest question why needed to be answered and they were never really known. Well after reading For Laci and seeing this case from her mom’s point of view I really feel like Scott did do this terrible crime. There are so many things i heard well-read for the first time that I never knew about this case, but one thing is known Scott is a terrible person and both Laci and Connor didn’t deserve anything that happened to them. This book opens your heart, and mind to really seeing behind closed doors. even if you think you know this case from all the tv specials, or you have listened to every podcast on the case you need to read this and get a new point of view on it all.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

OMG, I just can’t even with this book! I laughed out loud and then had to stop and fan myself. This story will keep you on your toes!

Holly gives a handy to Santa’s son! What more is there to say??? You should literally stop reading this review and just read the book 😊

The story is a bit “over the top” but that is what makes it so great!

Jasper stops at a massage parlor thinking he could relieve some stress. He just didn’t realize the type of parlor he was going into and got so much more than he bargained for from Holly. These two have an instant attraction and both of them can’t stop thinking about each other. When Jasper searches Holly out and lets her in on the secret that he is Santa’s son, she skeptically goes along with it to deliver presents. The night is a disaster and if something can go wrong, it does. But the story and shenanigans that they get into will have you glued to this book eagerly turning to the next page.

We have all heard eleventy billion Santa stories but this one takes the cake! The characters are witty, the banter is hilarious, and the steam level continues to increase throughout the story.

I highly recommend this for a fun, but hawt, Christmas read!

#WOTR24 #Review Defying her Mafioso (The Vitucci Mafiosos Book 1) by Terri Anne Browning

Ciro Donati was many things:

My father’s most valued and trusted soldier.

My brother’s best friend and second in command.

The only man I would give up everything for.

We were still kids when I fell in love with the Mafioso, knowing full well who he was to become.

A beast of a man that made people disappear—and probably enjoyed every second of it.

But with me, he was tender, protective. He treated me like I was the most precious thing in the world to him.

And then he sent me away.

Scarlett Vitucci was many things:

The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago.

The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for.

The only woman I would ever love.

Sending her away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t deserve her or her love. For years I stayed away. Ignored the gnawing ache that her absence left in my chest.

Seeing her now, I know fighting what I felt for her is impossible. Letting her go had been a huge mistake.

One I would never repeat again.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

I was absolutely hooked from the very first page! I needed the story and just knew that that the cleanup of the beginning was going to be epic. I keep reading and reading and got really invested in these characters. I keep turning the pages like crazy and then bam! I know that it is really going to get good because the beginning is about to be resolved. Justice is futile! This is about the half way point of the book. This is more of the turning point for Scarlet and Ciro as they are done fighting their attraction and love for each other. Ok, so now I know it is game on and the real bad guy is gonna get his. But then the story sort of fell flat for me. We got the love story and overcoming the terrible obstacles but there was no nothing for the bad guy. He just sort of fell off and everyone was just ok with it. It was definitely not what I would have expected in a Mafia book. Terri Anne Browning is a new to me author and I can say that she can definitely get you hooked because boy, did I have it bad! I just wish there was more to the second half of the book.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

I was scrolling through Goodreads Giveaways and was intrigued by this cover. After reading the blurb I decided to enter the giveaway…and I won! The author, SL Pearce, is a new to me author. I dove right in and it did not take long for the action to start. I got super excited, but then started to realize some of the story is very rushed. Kira’s boyfriend/fiancé ends up in an accident and dies. His brother comes out of nowhere to save Kira and they start an epic journey of venturing to the underworld to find some really epic answers. Some aspects of the story are a bit predictable but the world that was created, the Seven Levels, is a pretty awesome concept. Kira and Luke, her dead fiance’s brother, end up falling for each other but some of the feelings they had for each other seemed to come out of left field. While I knew it was going to happen, there just wasn’t enough “meat and potatoes” to really satisfy the blossoming of these characters. I would love to see some more world building and character development because I am truly intrigued by this story. I plan to keep this one on my radar because I would love to see how this story unfolds as it has great potential.

Hi, I’m Sian Pearce, a passionate author from England, United Kingdom.

From a very young age, I’ve been intrigued by the world of books and crafting stories. I’ve always been fascinated with the mind and why people do things, which drove me to pursue a degree in Psychology as well as a career in the mental health sector. I also became a qualified primary school teacher, which allowed me to share my love of literature with young minds.

Although I’ve always possessed a talent for writing, I was hesitant to share my work with the world until my supportive family convinced me to take the plunge. Encouraged by my own daughter’s nickname, “Baby Bird,” I published my first children’s book, “What Does A Baby Bird Eat?,” which has been well-received by parents, carers and their little ones.

Fast forward a little under a year and now I am an award-winning author. Three of my children’s books have won the prestigious Golden Wizard Book Prize in 2023, including “The Bunny Who Couldn’t Hop,” “The Dinosaur That Had No Hobby,” and “What Does A Baby Bird Eat?”.

Even with my triumphs and successes, I am still exploring my passion for storytelling and I am always seeking to improve.

At the moment, I am eagerly awaiting the publication of my YA novel, “The Seven Levels of Sin: Spark,” which is being published under my pen name, S.L. Pearce. I also have another novel under S.L. Pearce due out in February 2024, titled “A Court of Moons and Stars,” and a sequel to “The Seven Levels of Sin” set to be released in the spring of 2024.

Knowing that the worst part of your night happened earlier and also knowing that it really wasn’t the worst part of the night yet can weigh extremely heavy on someone. Reader beware, this story flies! It is intense from the absolute beginning clear to the end. You literally cannot blink! Ginny and Arlo’s relationship is difficult because of the different people they are within the mafia. Arlo was her father’s best friend and is more than that to Ginny. However strained their relationship is, they both know they can count on each other. This entire story is wrapped up in one evening (with an epilogue) but is heavy and intense the entire way. This is a better version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith! Gritty, dirty, and exquisite!
