Beyond Time (The Dark Order of the Dragon Series #2)

Christian Lancelot Du Lac was never one to take a situation seriously. Growing up he had always been the comedic relief to Jared Bonatelli’s brooding nature. Now, just as The Dark Order welcomes Jared as its new Prince, Du Lac is informed that he must become a first in command the future King can truly rely on. When he repeatedly fails in his attempts to prove himself, Lance is thrown back in time to where his life began, Camelot. What he finds there is more than he could have bargained for.

Drawn to the forest surrounding Camelot, Lady Elizabeth Payne searches for something that seems just out of her reach. Tormented by a pair glowing eyes in the mist she steals away in the middle of the night to find their owner. Thieves, a wolf and the most infuriating savior she has ever met turn her simple world upside down. But it’s the attraction she feels to the newcomer that truly takes her by surprise. Learning that he is Christian Du Lac, the long lost son of the First Knight himself peaks her curiosity even more.

Now on the cusp of meeting her betrothed for the first time, Elizabeth’s heart has been claimed by another. But even a betrothal written in blood is no match for fate.

For Lance and Elizabeth, the odds are stacked against them. Their worlds are destined to remain forever apart. Can time heal all wounds or will the fates change their course and let the star crossed lovers find each other once again?

I was given a copy of the book for an honest review.
I love Lance!  His mouth in motion before his brain just makes me laugh.  I knew something was up when he repeatedly was drawn to his and Beth’s spot.  Sending him to Camelot was so perfect.  I didn’t want to put my kindle down. Historicals are one of my favs.  As the story is told, I thought no wonder many times.  Knowing now why Lance’s mother gave up her powers. Wow.  And RIM….he is horrific and no different than Abs.  At least Jared was able to right the worst of Rim’s wrong doing.  Evil man!  The lengths that Merlin and his crew went to for Lance and Beth.  I didn’t see that one coming!  SO glad!
Drakkar……hmmmmm. Now that we have returned to the present day…I wonder when Abs will return as a threat. I know it’s coming or will Drakkar be her downfall?

#Review #ReleaseTour – The Demon Who Loved Me – by: Jessie Lane

Title: The Demon Who Loved Me
Series: Big Bad Bite Series #4
Author: Jessie Lane
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release: May 28, 2017

He’s a gambling man…

One brunette bombshell with a devious mind and a potty mouth has thrust Kent smack dab in the middle of where he never wanted to be—his family. He’s spent most of his life avoiding his familial responsibilities, especially the one that required him to join the Ninth Circle Council—the demon society’s equivalent of judge, jury, and executioner. Then one lost bet with a little Amazon flips his entire life upside down. With worries about retaliation from the remnants of a rogue pack of wolves in Germany, he doesn’t have time to deal with his family, or his obsession with Chloe Demos.

And she’s the biggest risk he’ll ever take…

After her mother’s death, Chloe’s world crashes down around her. A secret Amazonian heritage. Aunts and a long lost brother she never knew about. Supernatural beings. With all of the sudden changes, she’s decided it’s time to step out from behind her façade of an air-headed, materialistic bimbo and show her sisters she truly does love them—she only hates their wardrobes. What better way to show she cares about her family than to help prove someone close to one of them is innocent of the bogus murder charges from some ridiculous council? Chloe has no scruples about calling in the marker the demon Kent owes her in order to do just that. It’s only too bad she’s underestimated Kent’s intelligence, and his playboy charm.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I have wanted to know Kent’s back story for a while.  The way he looked after his partner and the dedication to his job I knew there was good in the Demon.

Kent was the playboy that never hung around long enough to fall for a woman. He was also dodging his duty as a Demon. That is until a certain Amazon walked in taught him a lesson and could turn the world as he knew it upside down.

Chloe was the fashion diva and portrayed the roll of the airhead. But when secrets come out about her family and one is in trouble she knows it’s time to let the real Chloe out. She uses her whit to get Kent to help her not realizing what it will cost Kent in the end.

The chemistry between Kent and Chloe is great with Chloe pushing to protect her heart and Kent pulling trying to show Chloe his isn’t what she and everyone else thinks they know. Can I say I can relate to Chloe’s sister Elena I find myself acting similar to her when spiders come around only I which I had a flamethrower lol.  I did have tears when Chloe, Elena and Gage went to see the psychic and learned what was coming their way. I loved how Jessie incorporated all the past characters of the Big Bad Bite Series.

Fifteen years ago Jared Bonatelli had it all. At first glance the information he hands her seems like a publicity piece that is till she comes across an article he wrote some fifteen years ago about Vampires murdering a young woman in Central Park. She is ready to laugh it off as a work of fiction until he points out he was an eyewitness to the whole thing. But that wasn’t all. The girl’s boyfriend was a member of a prominent Italian family who vanished the very next day.

Now as Alex begins to dig deeper into Jared’s life she begins to question her own past. Could the answer she seeks be found in the glowing eyes of the one person she is sworn to expose? Or will they both find themselves torn apart by a world Beyond the Sun?

I was given a copy of the book for an honest review.
What started out romantic for Jared and Giovanna ended up utterly tragic.  Tony took care of Giovanna, or so I thought.  The lies that are weaved…..   Jared was finally called back home and not told why.  Gene, the old timer reporter who witnessed Giovanna’s tragic ending, was now Alex’s boss.  Alex’s new assignment was to get close to Jared and uncover the secrets.  The magnetism between Jared and Alex was undeniable.  Alex was naive in love yet she gave her heart to Jared without him even knowing it.  The story weaves through the connections….and then there is Absinthe.  What an evil bitch!  Of course, you just have to have one.  Her hatred of Jared had no boundaries.  Abs is banging Zephyr.  Zephyr is Jared’s Conservator and Alex’s father.  Holy crap!!
We know Jared and Alex are special and meant for each other.  No spoiler but the character touched on at the end…man can’t wait to see how this evolves!!

Prologue

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I was in love with her. But almost as fast as that love formed, she was taken from me. Now as I looked down at my daughter, laying in my arms with her eyes closed, I only imagined that she would open her eyes for me. Just give me a breath. Anything. Wake up for me, baby girl.

When my lips touched her forehead, I prayed with everything in me that she would cry. But she didn’t. She couldn’t. It wasn’t fair. None of this was fair. The man I loved wanted nothing to do with me and the daughter I didn’t know, was stolen from my very body.

I begged to anyone who would listen, let her stay with me. Take me instead. She didn’t deserve this. She didn’t deserve any of it.

With tears rolling down my cheeks, my sobs of anguish ripped through me. They took hold and strangled me, sucking the air from my very lungs.

“I love you, baby girl,” I kissed her softly on her perfect mouth. “I love you and I don’t even know you,” I said through my tears. Brushing my thumb over her full cheek, I kept my lips against her forehead. “Lord, give me strength. Help me move on from this.” My breath hitched. “Help me learn to live without her.”

“Maxine.”

I didn’t look up at the gentle voice, knowing that the person had come to take my baby away.

“It’s time, dear,” the nurse reached a hand out, placing it gently on my baby’s head. “I’m so sorry.”

A sob tore from my throat. “It’s not fair,” I screamed, my soul shattering around me. “It’s not fair. I need more time. Please.”

The older nurse nodded, leaving me alone with my daughter.

Lying down on the bed, I kept her by my side, holding her close.

It never should have been like this. We were supposed to be happy. Just her and I.

When my baby girl was taken from my arms, the last bit of light inside of me went with her. My world would forever be clouded in a sea of darkness.

Because of this, a part of me died.

Because of him, I would never be the same.
