Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

K.L. Kreig: As a USA Today Bestselling author, I write stories that are deeply emotional with flawed characters, because humans ARE flawed and if we read about perfect characters living in their perfect world, first of all, snoozer, but secondly, we never experience the gratification of redemption.<\/p>\n

Outside of writing, I\u2019m just a regular ol\u2019 Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It\u2019s a vicous cycle. I love carbs, but there\u2019s love-hate relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell\u2026who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I\u2019m a huge creature of habit, but I\u2019ll tell you I\u2019m flexible. I read every single day and if I don\u2019t get a chance\u2026watch the hell out. My iPad and me: BFFs. I\u2019m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don\u2019t ask, it\u2019s a thing).<\/span><\/p>\n

When and Why did you start to write?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t start writing until I was in my mid-40\u2019s and I started writing because, truthfully, I was reading a lot of less than stellar books and wondered if I could do better. I wrote 2 1\/2 books before publishing my first one, Surrendering, in Dec 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Pepper Winters and CD Reiss are my two go-to\u2019s. I\u2019ll one-click anything they write whether I\u2019ve read the blurb or not. Other favorites include, JA Huss, Skye Warren, Lisa Renee Jones, Julie Kenner, Meghan March, Trisha Wolfe, and Callie Hart. There are so many more. I could go on for hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

That it\u2019s by far the easiest part of everything book related. I didn\u2019t fully realize when I got into this business, not only would I have to not only put out an top notch product, but that I\u2019d have to become a marketing expert, teaser and trailer designer, swag artist, PR guru, CEO\/CFO\/CMO\/COO and any other \u201cchiefs\u201d you can think of. Luckily my husband has helped me with as many of these things as he possibly can, so I can focus as much time on writing as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you working on now?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

My new Finding Me duet. Book 1, Lost In Between, releases Feb 20 and I\u2019m currently finishing up writing the conclusion to that, called Found Underneath, which is expected to release sometime in May 2017 (date TBD). Then after that I have a couple of spin-offs from other books I\u2019ve written planned. After that…who knows.<\/span><\/p>\n

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Haha. Writing is probably the only part of my life where I DO fly by the seat of my pants. Do I plot? Sure, but only high level. Do I outline every chapter before I start? Hell no. A) that\u2019s too much work, and B) for me, I find I need to let my characters lead me and not the other way around. Every single book I\u2019ve written has turned out differently than what I originally planned. Sometimes even the twists I planned don\u2019t pan out. I thought about getting a little more structured and maybe I\u2019ll need at some point if I think of a complex series or whatnot but so far it\u2019s worked for me and I\u2019m not about to fix what isn\u2019t broken.<\/span><\/p>\n
