Ok, let me start off with I’ve never read any of Lane’s paranormal work before, just her military and MC, but I loved this! This series doesn’t just have shifters in it, but demons, vampires, and witches too. One Bad Bite is the first book in the Series of the same name. In this book we meet Jenna O’Conner, kickass new member of Wilmington’s SWAT team. With Jenna it’s a case of “looks can be deceiving” because her petite frame hides what’s really inside. She is a shifter, but no one outside of her mother and two uncles know, she’s been made to hide all her life because she is a hybrid and been told that the community of Others finding out would be a death sentence.
\nJenna is written just like I like my heroines, tough! She is a girl who knows and goes after what she wants, which is a life. She knows she wants to be in law enforcement and does it, by assuring her mom and uncle that she will keep hidden. On Jenna’s first day she is sent out with her unit to handle a hostage situation, this is where she meets her partner Kent. At the situation she meets, Adam McPhee. Adam, hot, redheaded, motorcycle drivin’ Alpha wolf of North Carolina.
\nWhen Jenna finds out that Kent is a Demon, while they’re out after their shift and she takes off. She has been warned after all that any Other that finds out about her isn’t good. When she runs out of the bar who’s there? Adam, that’s who!! Kent tries to talk to her and tell her it’s ok, but she still runs and Adam chases. It’s during the chase that Adam discovers that she is a wolf!! This story has it all wolves, tigers, demons. Of course some of them are bad and the bad ones aren’t just bad; in my mind, they’re evil.
\nAdam and Jenna must work together, with her long lost family, to save another pack master. Along the way Jenna finds out not every Other wants hybrids dead. Adam finds out Jenna is no ordinary human-wolf hybrid, but a demon-wolf hybrid the only one on Earth. Together they find the piece that’s been missing in their life, each other.<\/p>\n
