When you burn down your contractor\u2019s home\u2026 and kind of, accidentally invite him to move into yours.<\/b>
\nFirst things first, that fire was a fluke. A tragic, completely unintentional byproduct of high emotions, an ill-timed backyard grilling\u2026 and one very shirtless man.
\nI only meant to confront Brewer\u2014my maddeningly stoic contractor\u2014about a few\u00a0small<\/i>\u00a0concerns with the renovation of my historic money pit.
\nInstead, I got distracted by his muscles (who grills shirtless in February, I ask you?), I tripped over my words\u2014and my feet\u2014and\u2026 well, my carefully-ordered life went up in flames.
\nSuddenly, Brewer\u2019s living in my attic, his dainty teacups are in my cabinet, his slobbery dog is all up in my business, and I find myself renovating my whole future just as surely as Brewer\u2019s renovating my home.
\nCopper County was never my endgame. Once I finish writing my article, I\u2019m off on my next assignment. But between late night conversations, sledgehammer therapy sessions, and solving the Jam Cupboard Mystery (it\u2019s a real thing, I promise), I\u2019m starting to think we\u2019re building something neither of us expected.
\nBecause the more I learn about Brewer, the more I realize I\u2019m not the only misfit in Copper County. And that maybe it\u2019s time I stop chasing other people\u2019s truths\u2026 and start writing my own.<\/p>\n
