#WOTR18 – #REVIEW – Rules of Protection (Tangled in Texas #1) by Alison Bliss

Rules of Protection (Tangled in Texas, #1)

It’s rule breaker Emily Foster’s birthday, and like everyone at The Jungle Room, she just wants to get some action. Unfortunately, she stumbles on the wrong kind, witnessing a mob hit. To protect her, she’s entered into the Witness Protection Program with by-the-book Special Agent Jake Ward as her chaperone.

When the location of their safe house is compromised, Jake stashes Emily deep in the Texas backwoods. The city-girl might be safe from the Mafia, but she has to contend with a psychotic rooster, a narcoleptic dog, crazy cowboys, and the danger of losing her heart to the one man she can’t have.

Jake’s as hot as he is infuriating, and she can’t help but push all his buttons to loosen him up. Their mutual, sizzling sexual attraction poses a dilemma: Jake’s determined to keep her safe and out of the wrong hands; she’s determined to get into the right ones—his.

Each book in the Tangled in Texas series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Series Order:
Book #1 Rules of Protection
Book #2 Playing With Fire

Oh holy hell! I am going to try and put into words, ever so graciously, what this book did to me. This story had me giving an eye roll at the beginning to the slimy freak that was hitting on Emily, to fanning myself and laughing at the kiss and arrogance of Jake who is trying to help Emily out with the slimeball, then squirming in my seat yelling “RUN!” to Emily when she witnesses a brutal murder. THIS ALL HAPPENED AT THE VERY BEGINNING! What a way to start a story! I was stuck at this point. Very invested and couldn’t put this book down. Turns out Jake works for the FBI and is trying to take this murderer down but now has to save Emily and put her in witness protection for her safety. These two are both hawt and absolutely attracted to each other but no matter what, things go from bad to worse. There is a leak and the safe house has been compromised. Jake goes “rogue” and takes Emily to stay with his family in the boonies in Texas. The angst between these two is INTENSE! Jake has morals and the job comes first but Emily is slowly wearing him down. As with most stories our two main characters carry a ton of baggage. Emily has her reasons and is very stubborn and always a live in the moment type of person. She goes for what she wants and when she wants it. And if it doesn’t pan out she moves on. This personality really bumps heads with Jake who is very rule oriented and very by the book trying to protect her. As with most relationships when we argue things are said that we don’t necessarily mean but these two are under so much stress with all the craziness that is going on that things get crazy between the two. She is super stubborn and just wants to go back to the way things were before the murder but Jake is realistic and has to push her back to make her see reason. These two are constantly going back and forth getting under each other skins and trying to get into bed with one another. And all of the supporting characters from Emily’s friends Dale and Gina to Jake’s aunt and uncle and all of his childhood friends makes for an super funny and super eventful story. I absolutely recommend Tangled in Texas to everyone and am looking forward to reading the second. Alison Bliss is a new author to me and I am tangled up this story!

#Review #NewRelease #Contemporary Whiskey Reveals(Whiskey and Lies #2) by Carrie Ann Ryan

One whiskey-saturated night turns into something far more in the second standalone installment of the bestselling Whiskey and Lies series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.

Fox Collins likes his life just the way it is. His siblings are falling in love all around him, but he’d much rather focus on his next story than on a serious relationship. However, when his latest one-night stand returns to Whiskey—this time for good—he’ll need to learn to trust his instincts to figure out if he can live without her in his life.

Former dancer Melody Waters is finally ready to settle down in her grandmother’s small Pennsylvania hometown. Bad decisions and fateful nights have changed her path more than once, but now she’s focused on one thing: opening her new own dance studio. But fate is a funny thing, and once again, she’ll be forced to learn that actions have consequences and some repercussions can not only change your life forever, they can also come back to haunt you…one broken promise at a time.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book.

We are back in Whiskey with the Collins’, this time it’s youngest of the brothers turn.

Fox Collins, hot owner and editor of the town newspaper the Whiskey Chronicles.  Ladies this man is the total package; smart, funny, a business owner, and did I mention he is hot!!!

Melody Waters Whiskey’s is newest resident and she may have met Fox a few months before moving to town and they shared one hot night together.  She has moved to town for two reasons, to help her aging grandmother and to start a new chapter in her life by becoming a business and owner herself.

I love being back with the Colllins clan, seeing the family is great.  Fox really is into Melody and she is into him, but all she thinks she can afford to be right now is friends.  She also doesn’t think she deserves more because of her past, a past that she really doesn’t want to explain just yet.

Seeing these two characters building their relationship is so sweet.  I adore Melody’s grandmother, with whom Fox is interviews for a article in the paper.  She has done so much in her life and is one of the town’s most notorious residents. LOL!!!

Of course it wouldn’t be a Carrie Ann Ryan story if she didn’t give us a little mystery and boy does she give us a big one  in the form of a stalker, someone from her past is out to get Melody.

Ryan has done it once again writing a witty, heartwarming love story full of family, fun, a strong woman and man, with a dash of mystery.

I can’t wait for more from the Collins family!!!

#Review – Ravens in the End: Book Two in the Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Epic (The End Saga – 2) by C.L. Zelle

Ravens in the End: Book Two in the Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Epic (The End Saga - 2)

Sex, power, control, Yes—that’s the name of the game now.

Or, wait—maybe it’s always been that. But is this what Vine had in mind when he conned billions into injecting his lies? Was this end game part of his master plan all along? Now, the whole world is his, and it was way too easy. He’s the liar’s liar, the ultimate gamemaker, the grand wizard behind the curtain that would snuff the light of the world out in a single day.

And I helped him do it.

My name is Gideon Tyler, and I’m a liar, too. But it’s not who I am anymore. I once believed love made a man weak, but my love for Grace makes me strong in ways I’m not used to. Strong enough to break free from the compliance; strong enough to be defiant. Strong enough to risk my life for what’s right, despite who I was before, and the mistakes I’ve made.

But dying isn’t on the agenda today.

I have unfinished business to attend to. I wanted to tell Grace the truths of my past because I love her, but she’s already so damn wounded. How could I hurt her more? I didn’t want to . . . But it’s too late now. My lies caught up with us, took me away from her, and now she’s alone out there, and in more danger than she realizes. The undead are the least of her worries—as screwed up as that is. They’re saints compared to these monsters. But I’ll do what it takes to save her, my songbird, my phoenix. I’ll keep her safe. I’ll wear the mask of a monster, the man I was before, make them believe I’m compliant, reformed, I’ll tell more lies.

I’ll put a stop to their games once and for all, and we’ll survive, fly free from the depths of this hell. We’ll find each other in the dark again, because love is our light, our strength, and it’s strong enough to win this game. . .
in the end.

* * * * *

This is the second book in The End Saga (formerly The Night Blind Saga). If you read the books formerly titled Dysphoria and Grace, Murray’s Law, and Tunnels and Planes, then this would be the next installment of the story for you. Those three books have now been combined into one full story, which is the new first book of the series, titled “Willows in the End.” This series will appeal to those who don’t mind some diverse adult content in their reading. Due to certain triggers, this series may not be suitable for everyone, and is advised for ages 18 and up.

Goodreads

The truth? You can’t handle the truth! The games have begun! I honestly can’t tell you if I liked Willows in the End or Ravens in the End better. They are soooooo different and soooooo incredible! I mean honestly, sometimes sequels can’t live up to the originals but Ravens is standing tall!

Willows was the story told from Grace’s point of view. Ravens is Gideon’s point of view. Ravens starts right where Gideon and Grace were ambushed at the church and Gideon was taken. A LOT of questions about Gideon are answered in this installment and boy you better hold on because he has been through the ringer. You will see a side of Gideon that is going to piss you off and another part that is going to have you rooting for him right to the very end. In Willows we know that Gideon was closed off about his past, not necessarily telling lies but definitely omitting information. In Ravens he is placed right back into his own personal hell. Here he will have to continue the charade of the old Gideon with more lies and acting. He has a lot of turmoil because, even though he knows some of his actions and words are lies, they are coming way too easy to him. Almost as if he doesn’t trust himself with the truth. But one thing that Gideon does know is that he has to find Grace. He has to find the woman that made him want to live again. Here is the only spoiler that I will give. He does find Grace and has to watch her make some really difficult decisions. But when I say he finds her, that is really all he does. He can’t actually get to her….yet. He has had to make some very difficult decisions as well and you will see why, more than ever, they need to find each other.

The End Saga is very raw. It’s full of turmoil and twisted emotions. Along with the characters dealing with the virus that has given us the zombies they also have to deal with the actual human villain that uses his brain and his own crazy logic to justify what is being done to all these children and women. The End Saga is super intense, very emotional, and beautifully raw. An absolute must read!

#WOTR – #Review – A Touch of Frost by Terry Maggert

A Touch of Frost

Gideon Frost is the last survivor of Ravenwood, an orphanage scheduled for destruction at the hands of a vicious politician. Over the past century, hundreds of children have vanished, lost forever to witches who use their souls as fuel for life everlasting.

On the run and alone, he’ll find help in an unlikely place, when the missing children reach out to him from the land of the dead, asking him for the one thing he can deliver.

Justice.

But Gideon won’t fight alone. Samira Alexander is a sorceress who can bridge the worlds between life and death, and she’ll stand beside him as they fight against the killers who want far more than just Gideon’s silence.

They want his power. They want his soul. But Gideon won’t give up either without a fight, and the witches of Ravenwood are about to learn a painful lesson.

Goodreads

A Touch of Frost is a super creepy story with plenty of greed and magic to go around. This is an intense story between good and bad, light and dark, and the battles between both. Gideon is the last orphan from Ravenwood and has been hiding since he “escaped”. He has barely been making it and barely getting by while hiding on the grounds of Ravenwood. Then one night, he has been found. But not just by anyone but by a ghost. Actually the ghosts of Ravenwood. He has never belonged to himself and has found a purpose by trying to help the ghosts. Then we get the villains. The ones who kill to continue life as they please, the bad witches. Marina is a witch who is trying to cover up the past of Ravenwood as her mother was the one responsible for it’s demise. As the Society gets involved to help Gideon, the witches are moving forward to get stronger. Again, it’s down to good versus evil and who will come out on top. Overall this is a very intriguing story but it moves slower than I expected. It took me a while to figure out what part Gideon and the Society were going to take in this and exactly how the witch coven would come into play as well. But as the story moved forward it all came out and we are left with a need to want more of this story and to see what direction it is going to go in. I am definitely intrigued and am looking forward to book 2. I need to know more about Gideon’s story and exactly how he is going to play a part in the future installments.

#WOTR – #Review – The True Death by R.K. Gleason

The True Death (The True Death Series, #1)

Headed for some well-deserved shore leave, Shepard is gunned down in the streets of Seattle, a victim of “a mugging gone stupid”. He awakens, not in a hospital bed, but in the surreal world of Purgatory.

Within seconds of his arrival, he is saved from a gruesome and painful end, by his new best friend Horace. That’s Quintus Horatius Flaccus, the philosopher, to you Roman history buffs. Horace explains to Shepard the cold, hard rules for surviving in Purgatory. More than just the walls have ears, and he’s not sure how long Shepard will last.

Goodreads

This is a sensationally twisted roller coaster in Purgatory! I loved every page of this story. It is full of…..IT….of everything! I often found myself laughing out loud, literally, and reading passages to my husband (and he is NOT a reader) and he would laugh along or ask me “what the hell are you reading?”  because he couldn’t believe the things that were coming out of this story (in the best possible way). By the way, I could totally picture The True Death as a movie. When Shephard dies he ends up in Purgatory and Horace finds him and gives him a quick rundown of the rules as to not end in a true death. As with people in the living realm, there are jickholes in Purgatory. Horace, with the help of Matthew, have made it their purpose to help those who end up in Purgatory so they can live in peace and not end up with a true death. Shepard takes on this role when Horace saves him. As the story continues these two just can’t stay out of trouble. They are definitely trouble magnets, haha! They ultimately get their noses put in places that they probably shouldn’t be and the real villain makes himself known. This story gets under your skin! It’s gory, it’s freaking hilarious, and wrong on so many levels, LOL! It’s one of those trainwreck type things that you just can’t get enough of. You have to turn the page and find out what is going to happen and just when you think things can’t get any more screwed up….well, they do. Even in the worst situations Horace and Shepard try to make things light and are still going back and forth with their witty banter. This is an absolute, don’t screw yourself over, must read! I am thankful that I found RK a little late as there are plenty in the series that are out. I can’t wait to see what other types of crazy shenanigans these two are capable of getting into…these trouble magnets will absolutely keep you on your toes! Bravo, RK Gleason! You have a new fan!

#Review – Shade (Oracle of Senders, #1) by Mere Joyce

Shade (Oracle of Senders, #1)

Fourteen-year-old Callum Silver sees dead people. It’s not a gift. His family thinks he’s crazy. Sometimes he thinks he’s crazy. He has no friends. He’s forced to live his life surrounded by nothing but the searing pain, sickening smells and desperate moans that accompany the murdered ghosts who seek him out.

When he’s offered a place at Camp Wanagi, the ten weeks in the French countryside isn’t a vacation, it’s a lifeline. A way to meet others like himself and prove his ability can offer more than years of loneliness and expensive therapy bills.

Run by a mysterious group known as the Oracle of Senders, Camp Wanagi brings together teens from around the globe who all possess the unique ability to see the dead. While Cal is relieved to find others like him, he learns quickly that not everybody experiences the spirits as he does. Some of the campers revere their abilities and don’t understand his hesitation, while others—like quiet bookworm Meander Rhoades—have good reason for wishing they could get rid of their ‘gifts’.

While researching their final project, Cal and Meander find an unmarked grave which reveals aspects of their abilities neither knew existed, forcing Cal to decide if the torture of seeing ghosts is worthwhile and, more importantly, if being a part of the Oracle of Senders is necessary, dangerous…or both.

Goodreads

“I see dead people”….One of the best lines ever! In this case, Callum, doesn’t feel like this is the best thing to happen to him.

First, I love this book and can’t wait for the next installment. Second, Cal is such a relatable character, of course he would be if you could see dead people too…or can you? Third, the supporting characters and the world building are perfect!

This is a YA paranormal story. Cal is the main character and sees dead people. But he sees only those who have been murdered. They have an interestingly difficult effect on him. Everyone thinks he’s crazy, his family has dumped tons of time into therapy, but with an offer from Camp Wanagi he may be able to put some of this to rest. He doesn’t get much info on what Camp Wanagi is all about and it is run by a secret organization but he has high hopes of trying to find someone like him or to shed some light on why he sees the dead. This story follows Cal and a group of 14 year olds that all have special abilities with spirits of all sorts. Each person’s ability is different and some of the others feel that it is a gift while others feel it is a curse. The summer for all the campers is quite the experience for all of them. As they hone in their abilities and the spirits come forth, they find that they all need each other more than they realized. This is an incredible story watching the campers changing. No, transforming into the young adults they want to be.

I can’t tell you how good this book is as I just can’t get the words right. Mere Joyce is a new author for me and I am hooked. I can’t wait to check Mere’s other books and I can’t wait for the next installment in this series!

#REVIEW – Lumberjack (A Real Man, 1) by Jenika Snow

He hasn’t been with a woman in five years.

She hasn’t been with a real man … until now.

VIVIAN

I’ve had enough of the crap that goes along with living in the city. So, I packed for a weeklong vacation in the mountains. Isolation in a cabin for the next seven days sounds like a good way to recoup and get my life back in order. After getting lost while hiking, I stumble upon a cabin that has me questioning whether to ask for help, or if I should brave staying the night in the woods.

JAKE

I left everything behind years ago after the woman I was with betrayed me. Now I work as a lumberjack and live my life as a recluse. Being celibate for the last five years says a lot about my self-control, but I’m a man and have needs, and not giving into what I really want is hard as hell. But I can’t let myself get close to anyone, not even for a few hours. Getting close is how I got screwed over before.

As soon as I see Vivian, I know I have to have her. It’s been forever since I’ve had a woman. Because of a storm rolling in, she’ll have to stay with me overnight. We could do a lot of filthy things in that time. I pride myself on my control, but when it comes to Vivian, I don’t know if I can keep my hands to myself.

I know I can’t.

I have needs, and it’s clear Vivian’s in need of a real man to help her unwind. I can certainly help her in that department.

Warning: If you’re looking for a sappy, pull-your-heartstring kind of book … this isn’t it. If you want a short and dirty story featuring an all-around alpha hero who hasn’t had a woman in years, and a heroine who’ll find out what it’s like to be with a real man … this might be for you.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

I’ve been obsessed with these super short readers and that are insanely hot and OTT (over the top). Well this book is no different. I’ll definitely be binging the rest of this series.

We have Jake who moved from the city five years ago and has been a lumberjack ever since. He had his heart ripped out and needed to get away. Well living in the woods did him some good. Built. Rough. And a lumberjack. Who knew they could be so yummy.

Vivian needed to get away. She packed up her bags and took a vacation in the woods. After deciding to go for a walk, she gets lost and good thing she does.

The chemistry between the two characters is hot and intense. If you love insta-love type books, this one is for you.

#NewRelease – #Review – The Sphinx by Jessica Cage

The Sphinx

Some stories are told, others are not, the best ones are reimagined.

Stories are told of the sphinx—a monster with the head of a woman, the body of a lioness, the wings of an eagle, and a tail tipped with the head of a serpent. This beast was told to have been made to guard the entrance to the Greek city of Thebes. For each traveler to cross her path, a riddle was presented. If they could answer it correctly, access would be granted. What was her riddle?
“What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three in the evening?” The price to pay for answering the riddle incorrectly, which of course they all did, was not a simple denial of entry to Thebes. Instead of turning them away, the sphinx, monster that was, strangled them with her tail and devoured them whole.
The story goes that when it finally came to pass that someone could answer her riddle and the consecutive ones to follow, she committed suicide. What else was a girl to do? Some say she threw herself down from the high rocks and fell to her death, while others say that she devoured herself, subjecting herself to the same punishment she dished out to all those who had failed before, a talented feat.
However, the question remains … what really happened to her?

Goodreads

This has it all! Greek Gods, Sirens, Vampires, Shifters….all things paranormal! LOVED this book! As you read in the description this is about the Sphinx and what really happened to her when she dies. As all stories are told over the years they change, just like the game of telephone that we all grew up with. Asa is our main character here. She was, or still is, the Sphinx. She was cursed to be the Sphinx when she denied the God of War, Ares. She was bound to be cursed forever but she found her loophole and went into hiding. She continues to hide and plot just waiting for the day that she faces Ares again. She is out for the ultimate revenge….but come to find out that she may not be the only one that is out for revenge (not telling you who!!!!) She has lived a lonely life preparing for the moment that she can seek her revenge but there are always speed bumps as she has been living in isolation for so long. I believe Asa meets her match with Carter! When the two of them meet the sparks fly! They are attracted to each other but they both have wicked trust issues. As the story unfolds and truths are revealed they are going to have to decide if revenge is worth it or if they can survive….together. This has the perfect mix of paranormal mixed into the retellings of Greek history. Action packed with a love story! Jessica Cage is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her stories. This is definitely an intriguing page turner. You won’t want to miss The Sphinx!

The hunt is on. The battle fierce. Only the strongest survive A Vampire’s Thirst!

Book 1 in A K Michaels’ brand new series A Vampire’s Thirst full of hot as hades alpha males in this smoking paranormal romance story.

Goodreads

Yes please! Vampires and shifters (all kinds of shifters) with suspense and full of hotness… need I say more? In this world people know of the supernatural society. It is not flaunted by any means but it is not secret. Victor is a strong and wealthy business man. He is in the middle of making deals and what not when this insatiable thirst for fresh blood and sex consumes him. He has no idea why this is so strong. There is a scent that he picks up on and that is how he finds Kimber. He smells her but cannot find her. She is the scent that is pulling him into this madness. One thing that he does not know is that Kimber is a dragon shifter who is being hunted. As fate will have it, Victor saves Kimber but she is reluctant to stay. They are both incredibly drawn to each other and they have this insta-love that blood mates have.

I am crazy about my paranormal and love vampires and shifters. The story was well written and tons of chemistry between the two. They NEED each other. The one thing that I didn’t particularly like was that they “met” very near the beginning of the story. The back story of the two finding each other felt a tad rushed but the intense love they feel for each other completely make up for it. The majority of the story was more about them getting to know each other (wags eyebrows*) and when our evil villain finally comes forward I was surprised by this particular villain and very surprised about who really helps Victor and Kimber in the end. Again, the ending felt a little rushed as well. But overall, Victor’s and Kimber’s story of love and the will to fight for it was super heartwarming. This is a first of AK Michaels’ books for me but won’t be the last. I am looking forward to others in this series.

#WOTR2018Attending #PromoTour #Review #NewRelease The Choice(Doms of Her Life:Heavenly Rising Book 1) By Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob, Isabella LaPearl

Heavenly Young doesn’t have time for romance. The innocent nursing student is struggling to care for her ailing father, keep a roof over their head, and start a new career. But fate decides to complicate her world even more by putting two very different men in her path and forcing her to make a choice that will change her life forever.

Dr. Ken Beckman—vascular surgeon by day, super-alpha by night—has three hard-and-fast rules: Never date where he works, never touch vanillas, and never get tangled up with a virgin. But the moment he meets Heavenly, he aches to toss his scruples aside and claim the untouched beauty. She’s not ready for someone like him…but he wants her too much to walk away—even though he’s not the only man caught in her spell.

Seth Cooper, ex-cop turned private eye, isn’t looking for a happily ever after, just a hot-and-sweaty good time. And the minute he claps eyes on Heavenly, he’s all for coaxing the angel into his bed. But soon, she’s so deep under his skin that he’s willing to put his broken past behind him and turn his life upside down for her. But he’s got competition…

When it came to helping friends, Beck and Seth were in sync. But now they’re vying for the same girl, and the games get vicious—until they realize Heavenly is keeping secrets from them both. Will they call a truce and work together again before they both lose her for good?

First let me say, Oh My Good Gravy, I love when these three ladies minds get together!!!
This is the start of the second collection of the Doms of her Life Series. The first is Raine Falling, you don’t have to read the first to understand the second, but there is some intersecting timelines and the characters from the first do make appearances in the second. Speaking as someone who has read the first it’s not one to miss because it’s yummy goodness!!
Now onto Beck, Seth, and Heavenly.
Beck is Dr. Kenneth Beckman vascular surgeon and a sadist who is a Master at Shadows.
Seth Cooper is a New York PI in LA to help out his friends Hammer, Liam, and Raine, he is also a Dom, but isn’t a sadist.
Heavenly Young is a nursing student that volunteers at the hospital that Beck works at.
One look is all it takes for the two men to fall for the innocent Heavenly.
These ladies do a great job of bringing alpha men that make you want to both smack them and swoon at their feet to life.
Beck begins being in her life as a much needed friend and Seth by taking her out on a couple dates, however, when she tells Seth that she also has feelings for Beck the jealous butthead runs home to New York, where he spends weeks being miserable.
Once Beck thinks that Seth is out of the picture he begins to date her , then Seth comes back to town.
Heavenly can’t choose between them so the two men agree to each date her until such time as she can. What happens next is a lot of yelling at your reading device or book as the men in the story can be a**hats!!! Lol!!
Also, Heavenly has some things that she hasn’t told her men and when they finally find out they are not happy with her in the slightest.
There are also some things that Beck hasn’t discussed either that are gonna bite him in the butt when Heavenly does find out.
I was so not happy to see the end of this story and was even more upset to see that I’d have to wait until 2019!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!
Get this book you won’t regret it, better yet get the first collection and this book, you definitely won’t regret it.

Raine’s big brother shoved a glass of thick red vino in her hand. “So, did you find someone to fuck your brains out?”
She recoiled. If she gave him an equally blunt answer, would he stop this mortifying inquisition?
“Yes. It was easy.” Heavenly punctuated her lie with a bright smile.
River glowered. “Tell me Beck or Seth finally manned up.”
“He’s someone you don’t know.”
One of River’s dark brows shot up. “Where did you meet him?”
“Um…around.”
“What does that mean? A park? A bar? A grocery store? A swingers’ club?”
“Why does it matter? I found someone and it was lovely.”
He looked skeptical. “Lovely? That’s how you describe meeting a stranger, losing your clothes, and banging him?”
Heavenly bristled. “How would you describe a hookup?”
“Hot, sweaty, messy. Mind-blowing. Spine-melting. Earth-shattering.” River snorted. “Never lovely.”
“Sweaty?” She shuddered. “That sounds unpleasant. It was nice. I…tingled.”
“Tingled?” He scowled. “Did your pussy fall asleep because he couldn’t find your clit? Maybe you should have given him a map.”
She nearly choked on her wine. “I found the experience perfectly satisfying.”
“Sweetheart, you don’t know squat about satisfaction.” Raine’s brother leaned in and peered at her, eye to eye. “Here’s what I think happened: You haven’t so much as flirted with another man. You don’t understand why ‘lovely’ sex is bad because you’ve never had it. In fact, not only did you not have sex with this mysterious ‘stud,’ you haven’t offered the virginity you asked me to take to anyone else.”
“What. The fuck. Did you say?” Beck growled suddenly.
Heavenly glanced over her shoulder. Both Beck and Seth glared from across the kitchen. Oh, no.
“Get out,” Seth snapped at River, hauling ass across the room. “Now. While you can still walk.”
Dread burned her veins. She didn’t have to wonder how much they’d overheard. Obviously, it had been more than enough. Tonight had just gone from mortifying to catastrophic.
River backed away, hands raised. “Hey, just so you know, I turned her down because I like my balls where they are.”
“That’s the only reason you’re getting to keep them,” Beck insisted. “Seth told you to get the fuck out.”
“I’m leaving,” River assured, then glanced her way. “Good luck.”
Once he’d gone, silence descended. She was alone with the two men who had been tempting, confusing, and consuming her for months. They were going to demand answers.
This wouldn’t end well.
Heavenly drew in a shaky breath, startled to find both now inches away, arms crossed over their chests. Aggression rolled off them, filling the tense air. Beck drilled holes through her with narrowed eyes, set off by a scathing slash of his mouth. Seth’s seething stare was no less displeased. Unfortunately, she had nothing to offer the savage beasts except a smile full of trembling bravado.
Because the truth would change everything.
