Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.
I’m USA Today bestselling and multi-award winning author Genevieve Jack and I write wild, witty, and wicked-hot paranormal romance and romantic fantasy. I believe there’s magic in every breath we take and probably something supernatural living in our dark basements. You can summon me with coffee, wine, and books, but I stick around for dogs and chocolate. My novels feature badass heroines, fiercely loyal heroes, and fantasy elements that will fill you with wonder.
When you are writing a book, which is harder? The first book in the series or the others after it?
Probably the first because I’m establishing the world and the magic system that the rest of the series will develop.
When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?
Even though my characters are paranormal creatures, the themes of my books revolve around real life events and emotions. Because each book features different characters in different situations, there really isn’t much overlap in the stories. They are tied together by a series arc and common goals in some cases, but other than that, each is an original work.
Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?
Most writers I know have wanted to do this since they were little and genuinely enjoy the process of creating their art. If this describes you, learn your craft and then keep writing until you finish your book. Write for the joy of it first. You can fix imperfections when you’re done by working with a professional editor, or keep that first book just for you and write another book.
On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?
4-6 hours
Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.
I do love Nathaniel from The Dragon of Cecil Court. There’s something about a dragon who owns a bookstore in London that’s exceptionally magical to me.
If any of your books were to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it? What book and who?
The Dragon of New Orleans featuring Henry Cavill and Elizabeth Gillies
What is your definition of success?
Waking up every morning knowing I have good friends, loving family, and purposeful work.
