#WOTR26 #Review – Loving Sweets (You’ve Been Gnomed) book 3 by AJ Renee and Miranda Lynn

Happily ever after is for other people, not menopausal women combating hot flashes as they bake.
My simple world is upended when Brian Billups barrels into my life like a storm I never saw coming. Crushing on a younger man belongs in the pages of an age-gap romance novel, not in my real, responsible, middle-aged woman life.

Age is just a number.
No woman—not even my ex‑wife—ever affected me the way Yo Kim does. Just thinking about her sends heat rolling through me, a slow, undeniable burn that refuses to fade. Resisting her feels less like strength and more like denial.
It’s time we both take a second chance on love.
I just need to convince her that our story isn’t a fantasy.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

Oh, be still my heart! Loving Sweets will capture your heart and make you beg for more! I swear that anyone who reads this book will be able to relate to it in one way or another. You don’t have to be a menopausal woman who feels like a cougar because she is crushing on a young man who would love to sweep her off her feet. And likewise, you don’t have to be the young man who would do anything to make said woman understand how deep his love runs for her, age be damned! Plus, you add in these freaky lil gnomes with Gran spouting off like she normally does that makes everyone blush and you have the perfect combination for a super sweet, cozy, small town, rom com. I just love how all the characters from the past books still interact with the main characters in Loving Sweets. I mean, when love is love, just let it be. Brian and Yo, even though they come from entirely different backgrounds, truly have some chemistry that would make anyone’s heart swoon. They both deserve a shot at happiness. Everyone else sees it but how they go about getting there, is quite the journey. Lovingly sweet!

#WOTR26 #Contemorary – Something Stronger, Westbrook Sister book 2 by H. D’Agostino

Fall in love. Get married. Have a baby.
That’s the way it’s supposed to happen, right?
When I married my high school sweetheart, I thought all of my dreams were coming true. We loved each other and life was perfect, but marriage is about compromise, and I seemed to be the one who was always giving in.
The sacrifices were small at first, but as the years passed by, they became bigger and bigger, until I couldn’t ignore it anymore.
Because sometimes, love just isn’t enough.
Sometimes, you have to search for something stronger.

I received this book for an honest review.

In book 1 we met all the sister of this series. We see the oldest sister Codie fall in love and marry the love of her life Hank. In that book we met Lou. We knew things were off based on scenes in the book but when he finally see her story it is heartbreaking.
Lou and Charlie marry and she thought she had everything is perfect. She soon realizes that it might not be as perfect as she things. She keeps swimming and hoping things will change but of course they dont. When she makes that step to divorce and move on she finds that the right man is there. He is another dance dad who is over his head with nervous energy. Their daughters click and soon so do they.

I loved this story. I love when Heather writes about older female characters vs younger girls. The older characters have more depth to them.

#WOTR26 #Cowboy #2ndChance #SingleParent – Something More, The Westbrook Sisters book 1 by H. D’Agostino

As the oldest of five girls, I always knew I’d take over the family farm one day. My father started teaching me everything as soon as I was old enough to help. At seventeen, I fell madly in love with Hank Thompson. He was older, and everything I was always told to stay away from. We made plans to be together forever, until my father found out.

He wanted more for me and forced me to choose between college and the family legacy, or Hank. I left without even so much as a goodbye, destroying everything we had together, and breaking both our hearts.

When I decided to move back home, I didn’t expect him to still be there, but he was… and now I have to see if he’ll forgive me, and maybe, just maybe I can find something more.

Something More, The Westbrook Sisters book 1 by H. D’Agostino

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I was super excited to see this book was about older characters.  I feel I can relate to them over younger teens/early 20 somethings.  Plus who doesn’t love a 2nd chance with older characters??

Codie and Hank were such a great read.  I loved this story of being first loves.  I was so invested in the “why didn’t it work” in the beginning of the story since it was clear they had such love for each other.

This was a great coming home to your family story when you need them to support you through hard times.  Codie and Hank go through so much in the story and to learn why they were split up was heart breaking but in some ways you understand.

Seeing Hank do all he can to show Codie the man he is now and the man he can be for her son was so heartwarming.  I loved all the scenes with them together.  The swimming scene was probably my favorite.

I loved the sisters and what is happening to them.  I can’t wait to see what drama they have in store for us.  But seeing Codie and Hank get that HEA was so fulfilling for me.

Every Single Second is a small town, single mom, second chance romance.

Then like the cocky cowboy he was, he never gave it back.Even when he left me in the dust, licking my wounds as I watched him live out our dream from afar. Until he ruined it. But now, the infamous bull rider is back in Mayson Ridge, still handsome as ever, adn wearing a tempting smile that still makes my heart skip a beat. But when I find out that he’s back after an injury, and I’m the one in charge of his rehab, my guard is stronger than ever. I’m not the same girl he fooled years ago. He may be the only man I’ve ever loved, but I still had my pride. And the last thing I was giving Parker Stillwater was another chance to break me. But the more time we’re forced to spend together, adn the more he reveals about the truth of the day he left, the harder it becomes to push him away. He’s here for more than just a second chance. But just when we think we can begin to create a new future, life throws us another curveball. When the past comes knocking, I’m terrified that one of our hearts, if not both, will have to break again.

Every Single Second is book three in the Every Single Series. It can be read as a standalone. No cheating, and a guaranteed HEA,

Review by Twinsie Angie

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I am an SJ Addict.  If she writes it, Imma read it.  Her cowboys are alpha, but their women are, too.

Parker and Laiken are high school sweethearts who took different paths due to miscommunication.  This is a wonderful 2nd-chance love story.

Parker is the champion bull rider who is injured and buys time with Laiken to be his personal PT trainer.  Laiken, being a single mom, needs all the extra money she can get, since she has her son, Trace, and a money pit of a new house.  Laiken is not happy but takes the job, hoping to move past Parker.  Parker has retired and is there to make sure Laiken knows she is his future. The two must deal with a lot like Parker’s “girlfriend” and the father of Laiken’s baby.  Both have so much to say but are afraid of what will happen if it gets out.

One night after a bit too much to drink, everything is spilled, and it can’t go back into the bottle.  I loved the twists added to the story, which I will not be telling because they’d ruin it, duh!! If you love all of SJ’s alpha men, then Parker will be another favorite for you to lust over.  But Laiken will also be the next main female character you wanna hang out with and have fun with.

I do want to add that Trace made the story.  The “Cowboy Card” has me cracking up so much.  He is lucky to be surrounded by so many people who care for him….yeah, yeah, I know he isn’t real, but still.  If Trace doesn’t make you laugh, I don’t know what’s wrong with you.

S.J. Chaynie is a small-town Texas girl who has found a love for writing. She enjoys writing romance, with a sprinkle of suspense, and a little humor. If she is not busy writing her newest ideas, she is spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters. She believes a good book and a lot of laughs is the best medicine. She brings suspense, love, angst, and sometimes the occasional heartbreak to her stories. Always a HEA, but every character and story she holds close to her heart and hopes they touch yours as well.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

I miss all the quirky Castle Cove characters! One of the best things about this series is that all three books in the series are out so I didn’t have to wait to continue the story!

Charlotte, AKA Ruby, has lots of secrets and a huge one is in town. The parents! And guess what? The parents want to use Charlotte to run a con on the people of Castle Cove. The same people that have embraced Charlotte and Paige, no questions asked and have become more of a family to these two than their parents ever have.

“Everybody has had to deal with an uncomfortable family reunion. Drunk uncles and fighting cousins. Shut-in aunts and busybody grandparents. Skeletons that trot out of the familial closet as soon as the eggnog starts flowing. But when it comes to awkward relative stories, I’ve got them all beat.”

Charlotte is warring with herself trying to figure out the best way to con her con artist parents without hurting the people she loves in Castle Cove, while trying to protect Paige the best way she knows how. There are so many twists and turns, lots of pulling of the heartstrings, but with all the same witty banter that will still make you smile and laugh. I did not expect the events leading up to the end of the story, but it makes me love all the residents of Castle Cove that much more!

I absolutely love this series!

#Review #Audio – Too Much Crime on My Hands (Castle Cove Mystery Series) Book 2 by Mary Frame

For Charlotte, posing as the town psychic has never been easier. Thanks to helping the cops solve the mystery of the Castle Cove Bandit, “Ruby” has become a beloved fixture in the sleepy Oregon beach town. Her sister, Paige, is flourishing now that she’s not being yanked from one con job to the next. And both sisters are discovering what it means to be part of a community, rather than preying on one.

But wherever Charlotte and Paige go, crime is sure to follow. Someone has been breaking into homes and vandalizing their contents, including Ruby’s Readings and Cosmic Shop. Charlotte doesn’t want to get involved and risk their newfound stability, especially since it’s only two more months until the real Ruby returns. But when a phone call from their estranged parents breaks up their happy routine, the sisters realize they have even less time in Castle Cove than they thought.

Charlotte’s already had to distance herself from Deputy Jared once—a criminal in a cop’s bed never ends well. But this officer of the law isn’t giving up the chase. The closer he gets, the sooner the jig is up, and if Charlotte doesn’t give him the slip now, she may lose Paige forever.

Too Much Crime on My Hands is book two in the Castle Cove Mystery Series–NOT A STAND ALONE NOVEL–YOU MUST READ BOOK ONE FIRST–Fake it to the Limit! If reading books with cliffhangers makes you feel punchy, you can read all three books in one download by going to: www.books2read.com/ExtraBoxset!

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

How much crime can there really be in the small town of Castle Cove? I guess every small town has its secrets. This is one thing that Charlotte and Paige know all too well. These two could have a really incredible life here, if only everyone knew that Ruby was really Charlotte. That is gonna be a tough one to explain. This book really pulled at my heartstrings because we get the backstory on their parents plus the realization that they are going to be on the run again sooner rather than later hits hard. You just know that friendships are going to be tested. I easily got immersed in the first book, but I started reading this and then finished it in audio all in one day because I just needed to know what was going to happen next. I was completely sucked in. I am totally invested in this story and ever so thankful that the third book is out already so I can keep on keeping on because the cliffhanger for this one….boy oh boy, I don’t know how I would have handled reading this knowing I would have had to wait for the third to release, LOL! But, we are ok! Be back soon with the next review! Oh, I almost forgot…..I highly recommend!!!!

Cass
Real love is an illusion that left me heartbroken and a single mother. I tried, failed, and am finally picking up the pieces. No one will convince me I need to give love another chance, especially not the sexy as sin pilot who attempts to do just that. He is annoying and won’t go away. Why won’t he take a hint? And why am I letting him get under my skin? I should just forget him, but for some reason, I can’t. His ice-blue eyes are destroying the walls of protection around my heart.

Ace
As a pilot, I live for the rush of flying thousands of feet into the air. I didn’t do relationships. The word commitment was not part of my vocabulary. I had fun, played the field, and did whatever I wanted, but one weekend with her changed everything. I couldn’t forget her. Cass is guarded, but I can see over her walls. She’s afraid and hurt, but I won’t let that stop me. I plan on healing her heart and winning over her and her son, and unlike the idiot who let her go, I never will.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I grabbed this book from Audible when I saw a WOTR author had a book I could burn a credit on. The narrators did a great job bringing Cass and Ace to life for me.

Cass thought she had met the pilot of her dreams, and then she found out she had not.  She thought he was the baby she was carrying’s dad, but in fact, he was not.  Embarrassed and ashamed, she bragged she got the “One”; she hid herself and her baby away.  She was determined to live a great life for her and her son.

Ace rolls into town and is friends with Cass’s friends.  It took him a few tries to wear her down to go out with him when he realized that one night stand in Vegas was with CASS!!!  Ace does everything he can to reassure gun shy Cass he is the guy of her dreams before telling her  (In my best Maury voice) He IS the Father.

I really enjoyed Ace doing all he could to prove to Cass he is the one when at every turn she ran.

#Review – Come As You Are: A Gen X Romance (Bluebird Basin Book 1) by Jess K. Hardy

She’s saving the family ski hill. He’s saving lives. Neither planned on saving each other.

At forty-six, Ashley Cooke isn’t looking for romance, she’s looking for a miracle. Her family’s Montana ski resort is one bad season away from closing, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Hiring a crew from the local sober living home wasn’t part of her plan, but neither was their six-foot tall, bearded and tattooed administrator.

Matthew Madigan knows about starting over. As a former rockstar and recovering addict, he runs his sober living home to give other men the second chance he once needed. Working alongside Ashley to keep her small-town ski hill alive stirs up feelings he thought he’d buried for good.

Between snowstorms, chairlift mishaps, and the kind of slow-burn chemistry that makes a Montana winter melt, Ashley and Madigan discover that second chances aren’t just for the mountain. Sometimes they’re for the heart, too.

Come As You Are is the first book in the Bluebird Basin series, a heartwarming, small-town romance perfect for fans of Virgin River, over-40 love stories, and series filled with friendship, family, and the kind of community you’ll never want to leave.

Content notes: Addiction, divorce, mourning the loss of a parent

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

This is not your stereotypical holiday Hallmark failing ski resort that is saved by a hot as hell rock star. Come As You Are is SO MUCH MORE! All of the characters, from the main characters to the each of the side characters, including the wonderful slobbery “rescue” dog, have so much depth that you will really feel like you are living the story. Madigan and the guys from Little Timber are addicts. They understand that once an addict, always an addict and no matter how long you are clean, you fight the good fight each and every day. Ashley and her family (mother and daughter) are trying to keep the ski resort afloat while feeling the loss of her father and dealing with her nasty ex-husband. When Ashley and Madigan start working together, they have a chemistry that is palpable! Absolutely electrifying! It is refreshing that these two characters are Gen X-ers and more mature than most other MCs that I am used to. They start their relationship with eyes wide open but still guarded. They both have their own obstacles and responsibilities that must come first, but as they learn to navigate what could be….well, lets just say that you must read this.

You can’t be where you are today, if you didn’t go through the things you did in the past. These two are perfect examples of it.

This book seriously has ALL THE FEELS! It is funny, steamy, heart wrenching, and with incredible friends…everything!
