#Review – Book 2: Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

They tried to break us.
They almost did.
But we’re not going anywhere.

The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don’t know what’s coming. We have to be smart. Fighting them one on one isn’t an option so we have to be stealthy. Remaining under the radar won’t be easy, but if we pull it off, they’ll never suspect our involvement when their lives start falling apart.

Besides, they’ve already taken us to the brink of hell, what more can they really do?

I finished this book in 24 hours. I completely devoured it and I have to say that I haven’t been this invested in a series in a long time. I’m so glad the whole series is published because there is no way I could have waited patiently between books.

So the story continues with Tory and Darcy fighting for their rightful place within Zodiac Academy. While the Heirs are a little nicer to them, they still can’t be trusted. Tory and Darcy get their revenge and I haven’t laughed out loud while reading in such a long time. It was amazing and so funny. Once you get to the pitball chapters, I couldn’t read fast enough.

This book had action, suspense, lust and the spice is definitely increasing. I have to stop myself from googling spoilers. Clearly I am not patient when it comes to slow burns/enemies to lovers.

I can’t wait to see what happens next with but I am so rooting for Darcy and Orion. Their little moment was hot AF. Then you get Tory and…well, I’ll let you read the book to find out who she ends up with.

#Review – Book 1: Zodiac Academy: The Awakening by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Amazon.com and Wall Street Journal #1 bestselling dark fantasy romance series from authors Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti – a Booktok sensation!

I’m a Gemini. Impulsive. Curious. Headstrong. A twin. Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, I’m Fae.

But of course there’s a catch – all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. And sure, technically that’s true as I’m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didn’t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could.

The school they’ve sent me to is both dangerous as sh*t and one helluva party. Vampires bite weaker students in the corridors, the Werewolf pack has orgies in the Wailing Wood at every full moon and don’t even get me started on the dark and twisted ways the Sirens use their powers on people’s emotions, or how my sinfully tempting Cardinal Magic teacher hosts detentions that leave people needing therapy.

Classes are totally interesting if you manage to live through them. And that Gemini star sign I mentioned? It now determines my elemental magic and affects my destiny, so learning astrology is essential if I’m going to beat down my classmates – which is actively encouraged by the way.

My biggest problem is the drool worthy Dragon shifter who has his eyes on my throne. He and his three psycho friends are determined to make my time here hell.

All I’ve got to do is survive. But fate might have other ideas.

Dammit, why couldn’t I have gotten a letter to Hogwarts?

***This is a enemies to lovers romantasy – don’t go expecting a sweet school for magic with friends around every corner. Fae fight for everything they own and Zodiac Academy is a cutthroat school for students aged 18+ where only the strongest prevail. There’s no Dumbledore here to save anyone’s ass and Lionel Acrux will give Voldemort a run for his money in the evil dictator category. So hold onto your stardust (broomsticks not required) and get ready for a bumpy ride***

Oh boy where do I even begin? So first off, if bullying isn’t your jam, you will wanna skip this series. I know it’s a bit older but if you’re like me and just checking it out for the first time, please be warned that the bullying isn’t subtle. Now I’m not usually one for the bully trope but I kept seeing this series every where. After reading Rebecca Yarros’s fantasy world, I needed more. So I decided to check this out and I devoured book 1. Like absolutely devoured. It’s an easy read and I really enjoyed the world building. I even downloaded a horoscope app because of this series. lol

So we meet Darcy and Tory, who are twins and are super down on their luck. After turning 18, they find out that they’re actually Fae and from another world. No more cold windy Chicago for these girls.

The girls find out that they’re heiresses to the throne but 4 other heirs will have none of that.

The stuff these poor girls go through is unreal. I had issues in highschool but man, I am so glad I am not these girls.

Most of the characters I absolutely loathe but the one guy, Orion, is actually coming around. I can’t wait to see his relationship with Darcy grow. If they even end up together. I have no idea and I’m trying not to read spoilers but it’s killing me. This is why I tend to stay away from the slow burn enemies to lovers thing because I want the spice right away.

Anyway, if you want a fun ride with 4 beyond grumpy guys who would stop at nothing to claim their throne and two girls who refuse to back down, this is for you.

#WOTR25 #Review – Lost (Project Xol #2) by Audrey Kaye/Amabel Daniels

Foiled from gathering the data Rosa had sent her to retrieve, Cassidy worries what to do next. The scientific files are lost in the sewers of NYC, but new directions arrive. Now, Cassidy is asked to collect intel that’s in Texas, locked in the archives of the man Rosa was once married to. Wounded by the lies from the only person who’d ever been her family, Cassidy carries on. Despite her confusion of her past and those she can trust, Luke has more than proven he’s reliable. There’s no doubt in Luke’s mind that he’s sticking with Cassidy for the answers to Project Xol. Besides his need to protect her, he struggles to ignore why he’s so determined to remain with her when trouble is nipping at their heels. Danger follows them once again, both from Rosa’s home to Luke’s past in prison. Getting to Texas is one matter, but obtaining the files they need is another, especially when their enemies won’t hesitate to kill. Lost is the second book of the Project Xol series, which continues in Find.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

I am completely invested in this series! I read Lost in record time. I cannot put this down!

Reader Note: The first book and this book end in serious cliffhangers. I am expecting this throughout the series. However, the entire series is out so you can binge read! 😊

Cassidy and Luke cannot catch a break. Trouble, that belongs to neither one of them, is seriously stalking them. And on top of it all, the chemistry between these two is super intense. Such a SLOOOOOOOW burn. I feel so bad for them because just when you think they are going to get a teeny tiny little break and maybe be able to release some of the tension, then BAM! One more crazy twist and they are on the run again!

I really got intrigued because we started to learn a bit more about Luke and his past. Cassidy has quite the twist thrown at her about her past as well. As more secrets are uncovered, we start to see how Luke’s and Cassidy’s past, unbeknownst to them, are actually intertwined. Now, the how and why need to be uncovered…. if they can get the files they are after.

I literally had to pull myself away from the book to write this review. I need to run now so that I can start ‘Find’ and figure out how they are getting out of their current mess. I’m loving Project Xol!

#Review #Mafia #Military- American Novela by Marcus Amaro

When Filipino-American U.S. Marine Angelo Marquez receives orders to work in Spain from an old friend, the assumption of a laid-back workcation in Europe disappears when his eyes catch the attention of fiery fashion editor Elena Sanchez Vicario. Quickly, the line between military discipline and succumbing to the urgings of his heart becomes blurred when remnants of Angelo’s past are discovered, and his mid-summer romance quickly turns into a fight for survival in the streets of Seville.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

I picked this book up on a whim while looking for something different to read. The cover grabbed attention, the blurb piqued my curiosity, and the writing kept my attention right to the very last page.

What is the essence of war? After reading this book, to me, it can mean so many different things.

Angelo is a Marine that has been in some crazy scary situations in warzones. The writing for these situations, even though I am not well versed in this lingo or situations, felt very real causing my heart to race and the hairs on my arms to rise as if I were right in the middle of the action. Angelo’s character is so easy to like that you will feel like “one of the guys”, even though you are only the reader.

Elena, what do I say about her. I have to say that I wanted to hate her. Especially at the beginning with their first encounter. I honestly wanted to strangle her and sort of got irritated because I thought I had the plot all figured out. She was this ice princess that Angelo was going to thaw out. Well, my friends, I had it all wrong!!! Give Elena a chance because she will change your mind!

Now, we have a budding romance forming, while demons from the past come forward, all while working with multiple agencies. It sort of ends up having a Jason Bourne vibe without the amnesia (and I love me some Jason Bourne!). Seriously, this book has a lot of a lot! The story hits on so many points with suspense, thriller, action, romance, hidden identities, kidnapping, military….I mean the list goes on and on and on. I highly recommend this book!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading many more!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

#WOTR25 #Review – Seek (Project Xol #1) by Amabel Daniels/Audrey Kaye

Cassidy is determined to find her mother at any cost…

It’s been months since Cassidy Shaw has heard from her mother, Rosa, a world-renown scientist. When she does, it’s in the form of an urgent edict to retrieve a key. Arriving at Rosa’s apartment in Cincinnati, Cassidy encounters strangers. One man who seems determined to silence her. The other, could he be her savior?

Luke Dixon enters the fray, believing his neighbor is being attacked. Never one to ignore someone in distress, he’s then shocked to realize he’s the one needing rescue. Bound together through violence, Cassidy and Luke must come to trust each other as they embark on a search, armed only with the key and Rosa’s cryptic directions. It’s a journey with unexpected answers and decades-old research. A search with more questions…and a lethal enemy who returns when least expected.

Review by Twinsie Kelly

Notting Hill to Mission Impossible overnight! Holy OMG!

Reader Beware: This story ends with a major cliffhanger. I recommend being ready to dive right into the next book.

I could NOT put this book down! There was never a dull moment from the very beginning right to the very end. I started it, turned the page, it was over, I was purchasing the next in the series. Seriously, it was that good!

Cassidy is adopted. She and her mother are not super close. As both women are very independent, when Cassidy receives a letter in the mail from her mother stating, “I need your help,” it scares her deep. This letter puts so many things into motion. She is almost strangled to death and Luke saves her! Oh, and Luke. What can I say about Luke. I am still trying to figure out what he did in his past life, but he is as chivalrous as they come. However, he is definitely atoning for something. These two have a chemistry that is super intense.

These two end up needing one another more than each of them care to like at the beginning but cannot stay away from each other. The constant facing of fears can be exhausting for these two but the spiking of their heartrates and anxiety is also met with the mellowing crash of realizing survival is possible.

Seek is action packed with a lot of suspense and danger. But things are just starting to heat up!

My review – Wreckage of Timber Creek, Book 4 of Timber Creek Series by S.J. Chaynie
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
To say I was excited for this book…well any in the series for that fact…would be a total an understatement. Each of the men has stolen my heart completely. I THINK Grey is still my favorite but dang it, Jordan is riiiiiight next to him tapping on Grey’s NFL Shoulders.
Whit…oh Whit. She is so closed off after a bad relationship. She was all for a one-night stand with no strings, but she ended up with a lifelong parting gift by the name of Heidi. Whit runs home to the small town she grew up in and refused to admit anything about Heidi’s parentage. She was just home to raise her daughter.
Jordan was a goner the second he saw Whitley. When he persuaded her to have the one night-stand, he was done. He was ready to convince this stubborn woman how perfect they would be, but she disappeared on him. When he finds her, and with his own drama happening, he changes everything to be with her.
These two…OMG YES!! I freaking loved their story. My favorite lines is Jordan talking to Whitley
I will never not want you Whitley Harper. You’re it for me. Now if you are done. I am going to fuck you on the desk!
Oh Jordan!!! SWOON!!
As with all the books from this amazing author, she gives us a couple of great twists and this one didn’t disappoint at all.
I gotta say WTF with the 2nd epilogue!!! Ma’am you have some explaining to do!

Stone Crest by SJ Chaynie

A chance encounter.
A blue-eyed Raven.
A single curse.
She’s not supposed to be mine. Not just because I’m her professor, or she’s my student, but because of what I am. A man with a mask. A shifter with a curse. But I can’t stay away. Not when I know the beauty of her heart, and not when her life is in danger. Truths are revealed, secrets unveiled, and when my wolf decides she’s ours, there’s no turning back. I’ve always protected Stone Crest, but now, I’ll spend the rest of my life protecting her.

My Review – Stone Crest, Rise of Raven book 1 by S.J. Chaynie
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
When I was told that the author was writing a paranormal story I was over the moon. Paranormal was mu jam. Knowing how great of a writer she is, I knew she would nail the story and boy was I right.
Raven is being forced to go to an college by her overbearing, rich, “important” father. He doesn’t want her to ruin the good family name after what she recently did!!
Raven meets her roomie Prestley (who I love so much and cannot wait for what is in store for her and Dec) that forces her to come out of her room to hang out. When she is hangin’ with her one night she runs into a tall drink of water. After a one night stand she strolls into her class to find he is her teacher!!! WHOOOOP.
Locke is stunned stupid when he sees the woman he met on the side of the road who has captures his heart and mind is a STUDENT!! WOOF he broke meg rules.
The story is amazing. Raven and Locke are fighting their attraction while we are also finding out all of their backstory which is amazing. Raven has secrets. Loche has secrets. Dec has something happening that I need to know forbook 2. The rest of Loche’s team are having issues as well.
This story was not long enough. The story has so much happening that I couldn’t put the story down. I am also very excited the future stories in the series because its going to be

Marked by Measha Stone

With each passing moment, the nightmares worsen.
Tortured images of a past I cannot remember haunt me.
I know I’m in danger… I just don’t know why.

Then he comes to my town.

I can feel him watching me, studying me, always from the shadows—like a hunter stalking its prey.
The closer he circles, the more aware of him I become.
His nearness is toxic, and yet…

There’s something about the darkness within him that calls to me, that speaks to the scars of my troubled past.
Only a truly violent man could understand my demons.
He will either be my salvation or lead me to my destruction.

My Review – Marked by Measha Stone
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh man. I admit I took this ARC not really knowing much except for its dark romance. LOL I like Measha’s stories so I was ready.
This book was EVERYTHING I could have wanted in a dark romance. I mean Zack was *Chef’s kiss* dark and delicious. He sees Harley while on a job but had to get to know her. Know her he does *snickers*.
Harley’s life is awful. She has a sister who was murdered, and the town pretty much hates her for the loss of her sister and not her. Wild town but that is the small-town dynamic right? Everyone knows your business and has a say in it.
Harley finally feels free but mostly SAFE in the arms of Zack. The two tumble down the story of her kidnapping and sister’s murder. It was WILD!!! I MEAN WILD!!!! I had no idea what was going to happen next, but each scene had me saying “WHUUUUUU!!!!!!” because Measha has the way of keeping you guessing while also busting your brain wide open with twists.
I am so excited for this series. I cannot wait for book 2 based on the little bit we already know. Any dark romance lover and any Measha lover will need this book to complete their obsession with her writing.

Mated to Curves series by DV Fischer (I only included book 1 but the stories are all novellas so grab the whole series.)

Avani is okay with being alone. Even though all shifters are packless and the world looks vastly different now that the humans are suspicious they exist, she’s handling the solitary life quite well. However, she’s thrown a curve ball when she finds out that her mate owns a shifter underground club she frequents. Once he laid eyes on her, he was determined to keep her. But, even though he’s incredibly attractive, enticing, and she wants more than anything to give in to him, she isn’t stupid. Two alphas together would start a pack and that could be disastrous. With her demanding to remain mate-less for the good of their kind, how is he going to convince her to accept him?

This is a steamy curvy girl shifter romance with two strong alpha characters.

My Review – Mated to Curves, Book 1 by D.V. Fischer
I purchased this book.
I met this author at a book signing. When I saw I could get 5 novellas for a few bucks I jumped. I started this book when I was on the long drive home. The author has several novellas series (all on audio as well). I just grabbed this set and went. They are all standalones. The only issue I had was wondering why wolf packs dispersed. I am not sure if that is discussed in another book but otherwise, I just rolled with it. Packs can’t be packs. Got it!
Cade is an alpha who finds happiness taking care of the submissive shifters in his fighting ring. He can’t be the alpha but he gives the packless a place to be.
Avani is a scappy female alpha who is looking to make a big pay day fighting Kye in the underground club. All is good until she and Cade make eye contact then BOOM. There is a lot of hell no’s from Avani and Cade uses all his good moves to get her alone with him.
I was loving this book and then we get to see the couple for book 2, Kye and Joyce. I was thrilled because Joyce was a riot!!! She is the best best friend anyone would want.
If you love instalove, fated mates, shifters, and all that jazz then this series is a must for you!!

My Review – Boyfriend with Benefits by Allison Temple
I purchased this audiobook.
The narration was great. He did a great job varying the voices but I LOVED how he did Gordo. It definitely hit the peace love and happiness vibe Gordo puts off well
I was looking for a quick novella and saw this book from and author who is attending a book event /I was going too. I love the whole Fake dating aspect so I was sold.
When we meet Bailey he was a bit high strung being in the corporate world and climbing the ladder of success. He gets bad news that the man who made his life hell is now going to be his boss. Oh snap! Worse of all he lied and said bully that he has a great boyfriend and they can’t wait to hang out at the corporate retreat.
Yeah uhm CRAP!
Enter the amazing Gordo. Gordo is NOT in the corporate world. He is a peace love a happiness guy that loves to rescue any animal really from dogs to dragons to snaked and spiders. He said he would love to help his roomie out as long as they can see the fountains while in Vegas.
This is when THINGS start to happen and make me look at Gordo a little more …like maybe he isn’t so peace love and happiness. Maybe is he …well, I won’t say my guesses but lets just say Gordo is the best fake boyfriend ever.
I absolutely loved this story. Gordo knows Bailey very well and knows exactly what he needs when he needs it Bailey soon realizes a lot about his fake boyfriend like he wants Gordo to be his real boyfriend through this emotional roller coaster of a weekend. Jake, well lets say he has the nickname for a reason and he deserved it his entire life. LOL

***Review for Blue Balls***

OMG! This story had me feel ALL THE FEELS! For a short story, Piper’s story had me laugh at times and almost in tears at others! AND I’M NOT A CRIER! Whoa!

Piper has a lot going on in her life. She is taking care of her grandmother as best she can, prioritizing bills the best she can, and dealing with city giving threats of more fines and liens on the house for not moving the ancient hot tub from the front yard. Just read it, it will tear your heart up! The one thing she doesn’t need is Sheriff Creed McDuffy “talking” to her about her problem while she is at work. She has had enough and blows up. But what does he do? Arrests her!

I spent half the time yelling WTF, the other half trying not to cry, and the other half swooning. I know I know, there are three halves here. Trust me, girl math, this makes sense!

This was my favorite out of the three Rocks books. Bravo!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I absolutely love this series. I fell head over heals for Jordan and Whitley. Jordan tried so hard to win Whitley over but Whitley is so stubborn and trying to protect herself she is having no part of his wooing.

Whitley is a successful attorney who is stubborn, headstrong and has all the tenacity to go with it. She knows what she wants and does what she wants and does not hold back. Jordan is a successful defense attorney who also knows exactly what he wants and goes after it full steam a heard.

Jordan wants Whitley only problem Whitley doesn’t like Jordan. Jordan convinces Whitley to negotiate a one night stand. After that night Whitley doesn’t want any contact from him. Jordan is able to track her down a year later and makes himself her new boss. He is determined to make her his. When he learns about Heidi it is a done deal only Whitley doesn’t know it.

I love that Jordan doesn’t give up. The things he does for Whitley and Heidi sends my heart fluttering. The things he says and does like the kisses on the forehead and the night time routine serious swoon moments. The way he protects them would do anything for them even die for them. He won me over with all he does. Lets talk about the 2nd Epilogue. I have questions really who was it and what secrets.

I loved every book in this series and I need more, No really I need more.

If she is not busy writing her newest ideas, she is spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters. She believes a good book and a lot of laughs is the best medicine. She brings suspense, love, angst, and sometimes the occasional heartbreak to her stories. Always a HEA, but every character and story she holds close to her heart and hopes they touch yours as well.

Going home isn’t easy.

Finding my comatose aunt deep in debt is harder.

What really sucks, though, is cleaning up the mess she’s made of her finances while living next to the enemy I moved away from.

He’s loathsome. Always wrong. And still an arrogant jerk like he was in high school.

I’ve got two weeks to turn in my aunt’s expected manuscript to her publisher and hope it helps with the money issue.

The catch?

She never wrote it. There is no book. Unless I try to save the day and write it on a deadline.

So, really, how hard can it be to whip up a paperback about falling in love…while tolerating a sexy man who doesn’t believe in it?

i was given this book by the author for an honest review

the last thing Ava wanted to do was be driving back home but here she was heading to her aunts, as she was now jobless, homeless and found out her boyfriend wasn’t just hers. Life up in flames and on the way home she gets a call that her aunt was in an accident and in critical condition. But she’s alive and can fight to get better. having to find any kind of medicine or proof of insurance, Ava was now in way over her head then she ever imagined she would be coming back home.  Gage the jock that was an ass to nerdy Ava back in high school found out that she was next door when her broom met his nuts and fresh thigh tattoo, these two will butt heads and have all the sexual tension between them but will they give each other the shot they secretly want or continue to throw gasoline on the fire. Oh, and on top of everything else she now needs to write her aunt’s new romance novel, so she doesn’t get in trouble and have to pay back the publishing company the advance they gave her aunt. Ava’s world is getting flipped upside down rather she’s ready for it or not. OMG great rom-com perfect banter and the AC needs to be cranked for some of those hot and spicy I hate you moments. this is a fast pace read i couldn’t stop AMAZING….

She doesn’t hate it—or him.
But it does ruin everything.

i bought this book here is my honest review

Welcome to Fairy Tale High well not really but that’s what everyone calls it. You have the queens, wolves, kings and of course a beast, everyone has their roles a d they know how to stay in their own lanes. Jessa got stuck with Adam for a present or fail project and when he didn’t show up to class, she failed and weeks later she still hasn’t let it go, it’s the only time she’s failed at something, and it wasn’t even her fault. Jessa’s dad wanted her with Jay who is from a powerful family and wanted them to rule the kingdom together, but Jessa isn’t having any of that. Jessa wants her own happily ever after even if it’s with someone her dad probably won’t approve of. this queen is her own hero and maybe with the right guy by her side she can truly do good. this was such a cute great story with a plot twist you might not see coming. who will truly rule the kingdom and how will it all play out.
