#Review The Witch’s Lair by Jennifer Daniels
Greta Lieder was amazing in the bakery. She excelled at it and her success was almost her downfall. Thinking she had it all including her own business and her hunky boyfriend, life had gone to her head. Who better to knock you down a peg than your boyfriend’s wife?
In a blink in an eye Greta’s life is turned upside down. She maybe cocky but she was not a homewrecker. But try telling that to a distraught witch who was hell bent on getting revenge.
The witch took the one thing Greta absolutely loved, her baking. She made a mockery of her house and turned it into a gingerbread house. For six years Greta has lived her life as authentically as she could until a handsome new logging contractor shows up into town and starts up his own business. Axe is taken with Greta from the first time he laid eyes on her.
How will Greta explain to him that she was cursed by a witch. Yup, that would earn her a one-way ticket to a padded room in no time. What a great first impression.

I am a sucker for fairytale retellings. This is a super cute twist on Hansel and Gretel. Greta was living life to the fullest, was very confident in a vain sort of way when one day, her boyfriend’s wife cast a spell on her. She went through all sorts of emotions and really tamped down her high opinion of herself. She works on her business and keeps everyone at arm’s length ensuring to not get too close to anyone, because boy oh boy, that spell is a doozy! Her business is booming, she has a wonderful best friend and a new boyfriend that she is completely smitten with. She has to tread lightly because she cares deeply for this people and doesn’t want them to think she needs to be committed, it’s kind of hard to bake while wearing a straight jacket, haha! As the story progresses some secrets unfold, and people aren’t always who you think they are. The story is witty but with some very sweet moments. This is a quick sweet story that will put a smile on your face.

I bought this book and this my honest opinion
What a great retelling of a beloved classic Cinderella but with a modern day twist. Arnessa is just your average girl working her way through college trying to get away from her evil step mother and step sisters. They want nothing more then to see her unhappy and do so by only way they can keep her unhappy is by keeping her working in the family coffee shop and letting her go to class. Well that was until Vincent came into the shop and well step sister had her eyes on him and Arnessa couldn’t care less she just wanted to raise money to move away from them far away. Well Vincent didn’t want Diamond her step sister she wanted to learn more of Arnessa and who she was magic and all. This was a great retelling with a twist I didn’t see coming but you will love this story and the strong will of Arnessa.
J.E.Mueller is known as the storyteller among her friend group. Telling tales and weaving plots was always second nature for Mueller growing up. After college Mueller decided to go from telling and dabbling in plots to actually getting a novel out there in the world. After many cups of coffee later, and several dead red pens, there was success.
Aside from writing, the author also enjoys reading a wide variety of books and has even joined in helping others with the writing process by alpha and beta reading. When not part of the written world, Mueller can also be found playing action/adventure games, rpgs, sandbox, and nonsense games. Some of her favorites include. Skyrim, Alice: Madness Returns, Splatoon, Fat Princess, Stardew Valley, and the Legend of Zelda series.

Delightfully charming! This was a super sweet twist on Cinderella. Cinderella and the prince both have a little magic of their own. All of the Cinderella elements were here but it was very modern and made it fun to read. Arnessa works at the coffee shop but so does one of her evil step sisters, Diamond. And she is a peach, NOT! Diamond lays claim to a guy who wants nothing to do with Diamond and everything to do with Arnessa. And due to said claim, the other evil step sister and evil stepmother come rearing their ugly heads. Since this is a retelling, it runs its natural course and there is the wonderful HEA. However, I really liked this retelling because they got to know each other. It wasn’t one night and then we have to match a shoe to a foot and that whole fiasco. This has a truly great “getting to know you” love story and it was adorable! If you need something super sweet that will lift you up, you should definitely give this a try.

#WOTR20 #KU #FairyTaleRetelling – Beauty Unmasked by A.J. Renee
Viktor Prinz
When an IED hit my unit, it set off a chain of events that transformed me. Gone is the easygoing and charming man whom everyone flocked to. I’m no longer the whole man I used to be, and I’ve accepted this darker side.
Isabel Marchant
In my twelve years as a physical therapist, I’ve never been tempted to cross the line with a patient. That is, not until Viktor Prinz answers the door in his nearly-naked state. Seeing past the grief, I find the first man to make me want more.
Can Viktor find the strength to accept the cards he’s been dealt? Or will he run this beauty who stands up to him out of his life, never to return again?
I purchased this book from Free off Amazon May 2020.
Oh AJ!! I love your books!! I am so glad I saw this book and grabbed it the other day when it was a freebie off Amazon. This is a sweet novella retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I loved the twist of the story that Belle was actually the beast because she was pushing the “Prince” Viktor to get better. But in actuality Vik was the beast due to his grumpy disposition.
The story begins and we see a uber crabby Vik not wanting anyone around. He has lost his leg and his momma. Seems he is going to hide away then deal with the pitying stares of people he knows. His aunt informs him she has hired a PT to come and help him with his new prosthetic. He is none to thrilled and the way he answered the door pretty much sets the tone for Belle and Vik. LOL
The chemistry between Vik and Belle is off the charts immediately. They are both drawn to the firm yet caring souls of the other. She is like DUDE HE IS A CLIENT. He is saying NO HOT CHICK WOULD WANT THIS MESS!! We see the fun flirty banter and the respect they both form for the other.
When there is a miscommunication and then angry word, both are left wounded. When he see Vik take that step forward in hopes of more with Belle, I was so excited.
The story is a sweet novella, but I will say it wasn’t an insta-love because there was a lot of banter and chemistry to fill the story. However, seeing them both fall head over heals for the other when they finally confide their true feelings was a sweet read. The epilogue made ma laugh like all AJ’s books do!!
AJ Renee is the author behind the St. Fleur series, Love in Scrubs series, Beauty Unmasked, Winter’s Surprise, Unlucky in Love, Surviving Paris, and Finding Love at the Falls…. “Help,” I begged. “Need… help.” Kazek frowned at me. “You’re going into estrus, Snow. I’m planning to help you.” I shook my head, a whine catching in my throat. He didn’t understand. “No knot.” I couldn’t accept it. This had to be part of Vanessa’s plan, to make an Alpha think he could fuck me fully. She’d planned to entice Enrique with this spell, to force him to knot me. That was what she’d meant by having methods to induce the sensations. She’d cast some wicked enchantment that convinced Alphas I could handle them in a rut. Tears collected in my eyes. I’d escaped her clutches, only to fall into the hands of someone so much worse—an Alpha driven by need. She’d won. After all that… she’d still won. I crumpled against him, sobbing beneath the crushing emotions of betrayal and defeat. And worse, arousal. Because I wanted him.
