Three Times A Lady (Not Just Royals #2)

The horrors Lord Haile Buchanan witnessed while serving in the British Army left scars branded into his soul. Survival dictates relegating those harrowing memories to the past. These days, he lives a quiet life running his Northumberland pub with few people knowing his title or his past. It’s more than enough excitement to keep him occupied and out of trouble—until he glimpses the stunning beauty sobbing beneath the awning of Hope Center. Common sense demands she’s not his burden to bear. Honor and decency refuses to let him walk away.

Marisol Elliot can’t believe she uprooted her life back in the US only to be ruthlessly duped by a despicable catfisher. Now she’s stranded in a foreign country with nothing—and no one to help her. The last thing she expects is the gorgeous, ginger-haired stranger who rushes to her aide like a gallant knight in shining armor. When he offers her a strong shoulder to cry on and a hot meal at his pub, she gratefully accepts. And then when he offers her a job? It seems too good to be true. After all she’s been through, it’s hard to trust again. But something about Haile beckons to her like an irresistible beacon.

Having Marisol in his employ is a far bigger boon than Haile ever expected. She’s a damn good bar manager and he’s lucky to have her. The one drawback? Being around her is stirring emotions he never expected to feel. Their chemistry is explosive and getting harder and harder to deny—for both of them. Just as the walls around their hearts begin to crumble, Mari’s past and a dangerous enemy threaten to destroy everything. Protecting her is Haile’s only mission—even if it means summoning his own past demons.

I purchased this book.

I DEVOURED Book 1 and fell in love with Jasper’s best Mate Haile.  When I saw the tall drink of water was the next book I immediately downloaded and started it.  There is something about a Ginger, right ladies??  And yes, as I read this book I was thinking of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

We meet Haile and know under the gruff military man is a Lord of the lands but also a sweet guy who too is wanting love.  After seeing Jasper and Zeva’s love he is hoping and wanting that for himself.  However, his all-consuming loss of his sister and her disappearance causes him to be full of grief.

Mari is finds herself stuck in a country without the man who promised to love and protect her. She has lots of secrets and needs help but fears anyone who might offer help after being screwed over.  When Haile stumbles across her and offers her a hand she takes it.  They work together and start to feel more but both are dancing around the other for fear of crossing a line.

When Mari’s past and Haile’s past collide, they reach to help the other grounded and safe.

I really liked Haile and Mari’s story.  The plot twists of Mari’s life and Haile’s sister were both great ones.  I must say Mrs. H stole the show with her sass and zero eff’s to people who are disrespectful!!  She made every scene great!!

Jasper McTavish, Tenth Duke of Northumberland, blah, blah, blah, he hated the pomp and pageantry of having the title of Duke. Especially when it was announced in the middle of a ball in the United States and he saw the gleam of financial interest in women’s eyes. He liked living like a regular man in the countryside of England, he liked wood crafting for his profitable business and he liked his peace. He had five days in Washington D. C to convince her to marry and to go home with him.

The duke with a smooth accent, anything he owned. nor his title, definitely did not impress Zeva. Yet after a few steamy kisses and his offer or marriage and a life away from D.C, she could see the benefits of a change from the place she was starting to loathe. I will say the first chapter or two were super-fast because it was the rushed part of the story for Zeva and Jasper meeting and marrying.  Once the couple are reunited in England, I felt the flow slowed down a lot and really helped build the characters for this book and future books.

Zeva was the most kick ass, take no crap from anyone heroine ever!  I loved her sass and fire, but she was the perfect woman for Jasper and what he was dealing with in regard to his family lineage.  Jasper was no fool and he laid his cards on the table for Zeva.  He told her it would be tough, but he would love her and make it all worth her time to take a chance on love.

I loved the family dynamics of the story and the twisted plots that Dahlia threw in to show just how awful Jasper had it with regard to his lineage.  But Zeva was no wilting flower and she stood up to everyone and did right by everyone.

I totally loved the story and the end was cracking me up.  When I finished and I saw who book 2 was about, I downloaded it because Haile was such a great side character, I can’t wait to see him get a strong women too.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I was given this audio book for an honest review by the author.

I love love loved the premise of this book given I am a preschool teacher by day.  SO, when Michel offered me the book, I snapped it up and started it the next day!!

I am going to start with our heroine Gabby because she is just kind, loving, and loyal…at times to a fault…but that is a story for another day.  Gabby is minding her business when she catches a batch of diapers being thrown her way.  She, again being the amazing and selfless person that she is, jumps in to help this incredibly stressed out…Dad?  What she soon learns about Case and his siblings turned children, she opens her heart to help him figure things out not realizing how her own world would be rocked by this man and kiddos.

Case is just wanting to finish college when his world is rocked by his parent’s death.  He now has to decide what he is doing…keeping his twin siblings OR giving them up for adoption.  He is at his wits ends and begging God for a sign when Gabby, the angel from above, comes to his rescue.

Claire and Charlie ….seriously made this book!!  They are the typical kids with typical drama (I mean I feel ya Claire when my Pretties are no longer wearable) but then they have such devastating sadness over the loss of their momma and daddy.  Case and Gabby navigate a relationship all the while finding a family forming under their feet.

I loved the story like crazy.  I mean how can you not love them as a couple plus Gabby’s Growing Strong Mafia who threaten Case at every turn if he hurts their girl…LOL  *Sigh* Oh Mandy……..

This was a sweet story of finding the love of your life right when you need them most.  The couple deal with a few issues and learn to communicate along the way but I just loved everything about the story.

The narration at the times was a little off sounding. It was like a bad edit cut in at times but Ben did a nice job with bringing the story to life for the characters.

Review by Twinsie Angie

I received this audio book from the author for an honest review.

I want to start by saying I love Logan McAllister’s voice during audio stories.  He does such a great job.  Michel has had him voice a few of her stories and I have to say, I can’t wait to listen to more!!  He does a great job changing the voices for characters but place great inflection for the story.

This story….Man, Xavier and Chelsea …..they just hit me in the heart.  This is the story about what if and what happens when you realize you pushed the best part of you away.  What will you do when given a 2nd chance???

Xavier and Chelsea were happy, in love, and waiting to hear about his chance at a pro-football career.  They can’t wait to start their life together and are happy to have his little sister around to complete their little family.  When Xavier gets cocky, greedy, and excited about all the “jersey chasers”, he throws everything he has with Chelsea away.  After 3 days he realized that was an epic EFF UP but Chelsea was gone.

10 years later Chelsea is recovering from a divorce.  She decided to take a week trip with her best friend to a wonderful resort to drink and prepare for her next move in life.  When she sees Xavier, she is none to thrilled and also excited beyond imagination.  Seems Xavier’s little sister has been doing some Facebook stalking of her favorite “almost sister” and is not letting her brother EFF UP AGAIN!!!

I loved loved loved the story and how Chelsea was on her guard but also willing to try again with Xavier.  I also loved how Xavier knows this is the only time he will ever be able to get what he threw away back but is scared.  Now he fears she will reject him after all this time.

The couple have some things to work through, like trust and communication, BUT I have to say I was just like Xavier’s sister in pulling for the two of them.  I loved her and her fire.  She was the perfect person the kick Xavier’s butt in to gear and not let him throw this 2nd chance away.

I received this audio book from the author for an honest review.

I like the concept of this story.  A waitress who is not impressed by a rich man trying to buy a date with her.  The fact the women was black and the man was white really didn’t factor much initially because Dale was a bit too off putting for me. His “I have money attitude” was not a fav with me initially in the story.

I did find myself drawn to Kimberly and the struggles of a single mom with a sick kiddo.  She loves her daughter and doesn’t want to see her ill but the struggles of co-pays, missing work, plus not so understanding employers is something a lot of people struggle with daily.

Dale slowly wiggles his way into a date with Kimberly but the relationship, I found the steam level more sweet then steamy but it was enjoyable.  I liked seeing Dale deal with Kimberly’s family dislike of him based on his skin vs what he was inside and how he treated Kimberly.  Dale fell in love with Kimberly and her daughter was definitely part of the whole package.

The story of sick Nevaeh was a big part of the story and helped bring Kimberly and Dale together along with helped her family deal with their prejudice of him as a person.

The Baby is Mine

Dealing with you isn’t easy, Blake Adams! You’re a pain in the ass! If it weren’t for the money, I would’ve never agreed to do this, especially not with you!
Blake:
The only thing that mattered to me was having the baby that my late wife and I could never have. I shouldn’t have let the surrogate agency talk me into using Tasha Williams, but she was my only option – or so they said. But now, I’ve got a black baby that should have been born white. Tasha may have duped me, but I’m not letting her off the hook. The contract says the baby is mine and there’s nothing she can do about it.

Tasha:
When I found the surrogate ad, all I wanted to do was make some quick bank to move into a better neighborhood with my four-year-old daughter, Nikki. Now I’ve got a baby that I want, with a piece of paper that says I can’t have him. But I promise he will be part of our lives – contract or not. And be claimed by Blake Adams? He better not count on it.

I received this audio book from the author for an honest review.

This book was something totally different.  I haven’t read a book like this ever, so I was really intrigued to see what happened.  I would almost call this a enemy to lovers story after listening to the backstory of the two main characters Blake and Tasha.

Blake is kinda a major douche bag.  I mean I feel bad for the dude because his wife did die and he was paying big money to have her embryo implanted into a surrogate.  He is hoping to have a little bit of her after she is gone.

Tasha is a single mom who is looking to get some money to help get her and her daughter out of a bad living situation.  Tasha is a sweet but yet stubborn chick who is not thrilled with her surrogate father.

Blake and Tasha have to come to the terms of a child that shouldn’t be yet is.  When White Blake’s child is born black, he is stunned.  Tasha, who is his black surrogate, doesn’t understand what in the world happened.  I mean she didn’t do anything wrong and yet the baby isn’t white.

The couple fight and argue but then Blake strong armed Tasha into moving in with him.  The couple struggle with the new dynamic of THEM as a family plus adding in her daughter to the mix.  They are dealing with is family and how they can make this work.  They suddenly start to feel an attraction to one another, and both wonder if love is possible.  Watching this interracial struggle to make it work was a good read.
