i bought this book and here is my honest review

Cecilia has found herself waking up in a unfamiliar place no idea how she got there then all of a sudden she remembered the events that happen her best friend and Xavier were fighting, the gate in the cemetery it was all coming back to her vampires are real, she’s a witch, and her best friend was a hunter and she had no idea any of this was possible let alone happening around her. Her whole life was full of secrets and the biggest of all her mother is alive. With trying to navigate her new life CC thinks or hopes she finally knows the truth to everything or at least, until she finds herself looking at a stranger who happens to look just like her. Life is crazy and when you just learned all of this it’s even crazier in just a blink of an eye or a snap of a finger in CC’s case, but she’s learning that she’s unstoppable in the best way possible or is it. this was such a cute and fun ending to this short series.

Danielle Keil grew up and spent the majority of her life in the Chicagoland area. A recent transplant, she is enjoying the Mississippi life, especially the pool in her backyard.

I’ve been reading mostly horror novels this year but I was in the mood for something short and hot. Gotta get those Goodreads numbers up to hit my yearly goal.

So I decided on this one by Jenika Snow. I’ve read quite a few of her books and they’re always the perfect palate cleanser between those longer books. Now that the weather is getting colder, her books are definitely what I need to keep my nights warm.

Something Wicked is about a vampire but there’s a twist. He’s also part something else that has turned him into quite the monster. He bonds instantly with Abbi and she has absolutely no issues with that. The supernatural world is also known to humans, which I always find fascinating when I read about that in books. Kind of reminds me of True Blood.

Like most novellas, I do wish this one was a little longer, so we could get more backstory but that’s a me problem.

This one was hot, short and delicious. Perfect for those colder nights!

DRAVEN!!!! I couldn’t wait for this book and I was not disappointed!!!

While reading the Black Mountain Pack series, I was always intrigued with Marla, and while reading this book, I totally understand why. She is a hardheaded, say it like it is, take no crap momma! And what does someone like this need? The sinful patience of her mate. The strong mate that would burn the world to the ground for the woman he loves but also knows when to stop and hold her while she lets her crazy come out. D.R.A.V.E.N.

Things are going wrong all over the place. Draven finds that there is trouble at the local nest and there are sickly rogue shifters staying with the pack and asking about the kids Marla has taken in as her own. And the cherry on top is the bar has been targeted. Needless to say, everyone is on edge. Even with everything so unsettled, Marla is fighting the mating urge with everything that she has. And the shhhh that is about to go down! All the things that Marla and Draven have to go through will infuriate you AND pull at your heart strings.

This is definitely a page turner. There is so much going on and so many different worlds colliding that you can’t help but continue turning the pages to find out what happens next. Draven and Marla both get to see a side of the other that they had no clue about. No one knows why the fates chose to mate a vampire and a shifter, and we may never find out. However, the fates chose wisely for them. These two are the perfect match. Everything about each of them contradicts mating but they were definitely made for each other.  A MUST READ!

6 stars!!!! Grief, turmoil, secrets, vampires, witches, magic, love, and a million other things are within these pages!

Eloise has been left in quite the position. She left her abusive husband and her grams is dying. Everything she thought she knew about her soon-to-be ex-husband is false, everything she thought she knew about her best friend is false, and the world as she knows it is about to turn completely upside down.

Eloise is a pure spirit and soul. She just wants things to be made right. Unfortunately, she has been looking at things through rose colored glasses. I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I am a GIANT fan of this series.  I think each of the male characters become my favorites and Draven is no different.

Marla, we know through the series, but you don’t need to know the complete series to read this book.  However, why wouldn’t you!!  Remember I love each character and couplings.  If paranormal is your jam you need these books.  Ok back on track of the review.  Marla is the adoptive momma to a couple of orphan shifter pups.  Her entire world and reason to live is these pups.  She wants to make sure they are loved and feel safe with her.  She never had that with her own mother.  She is healing her childhood trauma with the twins.

Draven is a friend of the pack and had been around.  He is the 2nd oldest vampire ever.  All of a sudden, he feels a weird attachment to Marla…the shifter he has known for a while as she works for his buddy Sterling.  Draven is well past the age to find his Fated Mate but then he gets the “feeling” when he is near Marla. He will do anything to show he is a good, safe man even though he is a vampire.

Draven is the best man and perfect for Marla.  He is calm and willing to wait for her.  Marla is the perfect mate for Draven.  She has so much strength and can handle the coven’s drama for her mate.

This story was soooo good.  I loved the drama of what is happening with Draven’s coven and the pack. Having people come and try to take the twins but having Draven’s coven all out of disarray made for a lot of twists and turns.  I mean every time I thinks something would happen BOOM I was wrong and was like DAYUM!!

The story was such a great read.  I devoured it and would have finished in a day but dang it I had to do adult responsibilities and couldn’t.  However I got it finished in under 2 days.

Mother to two teenage boys, 2 four legged babies, and wife to a loving army veteran who doesn’t mind the extra voices in her head. Miranda grew up on a dairy farm in Illinois, but calls Portland, TN home now. She is an avid reader, coffee addict, wine lover, crafter, and beginning quilter. Last week I received my invitation to The Ivy Institute to train with all the others like me or so I’m told, my father got greedy and used me as his cash cow. I was almost unstoppable so when I got my invitation I was dreading it. al the Ivy Institute we were the elite from witches, vampires, shifters, healers and almost any kind of supernatural being you could think of now I was one of them, at my new home where I hope I would learn about my powers and hopefully survive. in a new place where I’m granted privacy and respect, I’m not sure what to do with it but I’m hoping they too aren’t taking advantage of me. this was a great read it started out a little slower for me, but I had just finished a different genre, so it took me a while to get into it but once it picked up for me it was fantastic as usual.

Albany lives in Michigan where she’s happily married to her high school sweetheart. She spends most of her time juggling her four children’s extracurricular activities, with her nose stuck in a book. When not reading you can find her writing her very own book boyfriends. I purchased this audio book.

This is my first audiobook having Anna Marie Susan Silvey narrate. I enjoyed listening to her bringing the character of April to life for me.

This is a very fast audiobook…it was 90 minutes, but it starts to set up for the series.  I grabbed it and listened before I started book 1.  I originally purchased book 1 but saw the prequal and had to start at “Ground Zero” so to speak.

I enjoyed the short story.  We learn A LOT about April’s family, the zombie/vampires, how it started and what is happening around the south.  I enjoyed learning how you can destroy the “ferals” as April calls them.

It definitely peeked my interested and I am jumping into book 1 as soon as I am done with this.

Alexia currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada–Sin City! She loves to spend every free moment writing or playing with her four rambunctious kids. I am a sucker for vampires, but when I read the blurb, I was immediately drawn in because we now have a Viking Vampire! Yes please! Arne is a true Viking and looks forward to raiding, protecting his family and earning his entrance to Valhalla. He is absolutely enamored by Liv. He spends much of his time more or less stalking her because he just can’t get enough. He is drawn to her by something unknown. When he and Liv finally become friends, things blossom between these two. They grow up together but have to keep their friendship hidden. It is an incredibly slow burn. Liv is very mysterious and just “knows things.” She knows, and fears, the fact that she has seen that Arne hates her for what she has to do. She can’t speak of it, but she knows. When the worst thing imaginable happens, she has to have him turned into a vampire so she won’t lose him.

The journey of these two getting to know each other, falling in love, and going through a thousand years before they crash together again was a great story. The Viking background was one of my favorite things about this story.

Jill is one of my favorite characters in the series.  She is brutally honest and takes no crap.  One the flip side she does take unnecessary risks to save those she loves.  Again bad ass WARRIOR!!  Slade is the perfect ying to her yang. He is so controlled and methodical but falls hard for the most uncontrolled and least methodical.  I mean I adore them.  So seeing them in this weird place of indecision was hard for me.  I mean we all know Jared is my mans BUT this couple is the heart of the series in many ways.

Jill did the hardest this she ever did when she trained and became a Warrior but she also did the bravest thing when she walked away…or did she.  She was so in her own head she didn’t really listen to all that the others said.  This book she finally listens to what others have to say. She soon realizes everyone loves her and wants the best for HER even her crazy mate, Slade. Slade also learned he needs to let his mate have a little bit of space PLUS open up to her about all things relationship wise and duty bound.

The side story of Gello, the demons, and Daniel were pretty important in the series overall ARC.  It was great to see more of the Dark Guardians and meet a few new characters.  *wiggles eyes up and down* this could get interesting  LOL

Daniel…I know he isn’t a child anymore but like Jill thinks, I think he IS a child.  The end of the book had me teary because we don’t know what is going to happen, but the path Daniel is on seems to be a lonely one.  Am I ready for him to find a mate?  No but damn he needs someone to love and cherish like his dad does his mom.

This is truly a unique and captivating story. The world that this author has created is absolutely spellbinding. Tara Vasser is a ‘new to me’ author but has officially pulled me in as I fell into this story headfirst and couldn’t stop until the very end. Chloe feels like she has officially been abandoned. However, when she tries to end her life, Death comes barreling back into her life and does not let her disrupt the delicate balance between life and death. Chloe feels like she is going, very literally, insane. However, her saving grace is a vampire named Gunnar. She soon finds that she is a very powerful…well, no one knows what she is yet, but they are working on trying to figure it out. The one thing everyone can agree on is that she is powerful. While figuring out her powers, she has slipped into Shadow and has come face to face with a necromancer who has it out for her. She has so many obstacles to overcome but does it like any one of us would, she is scared and questions everything.

One of the things that I love about this book is that the story world is completely different from anything that I have read. The characters are great, and our strong female main character is like a normal human being. I have read so many stories where the lead just goes along with the magic stuff like they have lived it their entire lives. But Chloe, she is truly scared, she questions everything, she doubts herself, she doesn’t know if she is doing right or wrong, she truly was at the end of her rope. She is very real, and I think that is the cherry on top and what makes this book great.

I am loving this series and can’t wait to dive into book two!

By the way, don’t forget to pick up the prequel because it might give you some insight into what Chloe is going through. 😊

Tara is a writer who lives in the frozen north in Minnesota with her wonderful husband and two rambunctious little dudes. She is an engineer during the day, a crazy mom in the afternoon and a writer at night. She enjoys spending her time playing in the dirt when her gardens aren’t covered in snow and listening to a wide variety of music that inspires her writing – sometimes doing both at the same time.
