I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This book had me hooked from the moment I started it. I sat and read it in one day. The story was heartbreaking, powerful, and one of overcoming tragedy and adversity.

This is about two people trying to overcome one tragic day. Both live this day over and over in two different ways. Britton “Britt” Reeves survived that horrific day and had to learn to live again. She finds comfort in her work and feels protected around all the fighters as a sports therapist. Keller “Killer” Rafael is a MMA fighter who lives day to day with the guilt of what he did or really didn’t do that same horrific day that both endured. He hides behind a new name and intimidates most people just by his scowl and cold eyes.

This story had so much in it there was drama and the chemistry between Britt and Killer was off the charts. This shows two people going through something horrific and trying to come out on the other side but most of all finding love when you thought you were incapable. Killer may have been the Alpha MMA fighter that as a reader is easy to fall for but Britt was the true fighter in this she amazed me at every turn of the page. After everything she went through she is a survivor. Not only did she have to overcome that day but had to deal with her mother and deal with what went along with overcoming her injury. There were some awesome side characters from some of the other fighters to Roxanne that I wouldn’t mind reading more about. Great read that will keep you turning the pages until the last word read.

Excerpt:  Britt freaks out

Britt and Gabriel are waiting for me in his office so we can start our meeting. After my interaction with Wolfe, I’m seething and frustrated. All I want to do is jump into the cage and beat the fuck out of something, release this shit building up inside. Confusing new emotions like jealousy are dueling with my usual focused, raw fury.

The dark, hollow place in my chest isn’t equipped for this. I fight, I fuck, I exist. Nothing more, nothing less.

Furious, I walk over to Gabriel’s office and shove open the door. It bangs against the wall with a loud crack, causing Gabriel to frown and Britt to cry out. Just like that, she drops to the floor, curling into a ball and covering her head with her hands.

Gabriel leaps to his feet, hurrying around his desk to crouch next to a huddling, quivering Britt. Stunned, I stand at the door frozen, unsure what is going on or what I should do.

“Meu filha! Britt! What is happening?” Gabriel’s voice hitches as he tries to pull Britt out from under his desk. His head whips around to face me. “Killer! ¡Venha aqui e ayudar!” (Get over here and help..)

I cross the space in two quick steps, approaching Gabriel’s desk from the opposite side. Britt’s tiny frame is tucked into a tight ball, her knees pulled to her chest, head ducked, and arms curled protectively over her head.

Protecting her from what?

“Britt,” I say in as composed of a voice as I can manage, which at this moment, isn’t saying much. Not a lot freaks me out, but right now, watching Britt fall to pieces, has me struggling to keep calm. “Please, come out.”

Britt is quietly sobbing, her body shuddering in fear. Watching her in such obvious distress sends a stabbing pain through my chest. Not sure this is the best thing for her, but not knowing what else to do, I crawl under the desk. Being as large as I am, I can only get my head and shoulders in next to her.

Gabriel slides into nervous, staccato Portuguese. “I will leave you to take care of her. Let me know when she’s feeling better and I will return.” He stands and leaves the room, gently closing the door behind him.

He left me with her?

What the fuck am I supposed to do? At a loss, I do the only thing that comes to mind. It worked to relax her before, so why not? I gather her tiny, trembling body up in my arms, and hold her. Britt immediately unwinds her arms, clutching me tight, burying her face into my shirt, her tears dampening the fabric.

On the floor in my trainer’s office, lying half under a desk, a tiny shard of my black soul becomes human again.

STEP RIGHT UP! The Vagabond Circus is in town. This is no longer the same fun magical circus you want to take you sons and daughters too. This is more dark and sinister like a scary movie you and friends go to in high school and then freak out in the parking lot when you see a cat run across your path. What use to be magical now has an element of fear to it.

Nothing is the same with the circus since Zuma, Finley and Jack return. The performers have to decide do they stay and ride out this evil change or do they turn and run from the only family they have ever known. Jack is recovering from his injuries and is stuck with someone that is great at giving him the motivation to move. I never pictured these two as friends let alone more but they make a great team. Finley is shutting Zuma out although Zume is persistent and keeps pushing him.

This is an emotional read where the twist and turns had me in knots. Not going to lie there were a few times where I was not happy where the people were headed or what happened to them. Like any family some I loved, some I disliked and some I wanted to keep an eye on. Yes, I thought of them as my family this is how great Sarah is at sucking me into this story. There are times I was in shock and had tears streaming as I saw things unfold in front of me. This is not all happy sunshine and flowers there is dark and sinister times at the circus now and no one is safe. Some of my family didn’t make it out alive, others find strength where they thought they had none, and some find love where they least expect it.

Sarah’s series keep getting better and better. The villains get more evil and sinister and the love stories have more depth the more she writes. Sarah has a way of taking you down a path on a warm sunny day looking at the flowers only to have a storm roll in and leave you there in the storm’s path stunned and wondering what just happened and where will we end up. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with for her next book and/or series but I know whatever it is it will be great.

There’s no net now, Zuma.”

I’m going to live and I’m going to die, and unlike Dave or most people at Vagabond Circus, I’m not full of some greatness

Come one, come all for the last installment of the Vagabond Circus! Spellbinding, spine chilling, and incredibly magical! Just WOW! There are a few stories that I have read that have left me “feeling”….I mean, REALLY feeling. This entire series has done that for me. I have read all three and each time I am left with my head spinning and my heart thumping from excitement, surprises, and overall amazement with this story and it’s characters.

Each installment starts right where the other leaves off. In Released, the unthinkable happens and all of the dreamy magic turns to nightmares. Knight is the owner and new ringmaster of the Vagabond Circus. Right from jump things start getting out of control. Knight brings his kids in and Finley is back under his command. Everyone has “creative” intentions but it’s their questionable motives that keep you sucked in. In this captivating world of the circus you will experience everything. The characters are all intriguing. Some frustrating and some are awe inspiring. But most of all the tragedy and love are incredible!

I have said it once and I am going to say it again. Sarah Noffke writes tragedy so good it hurts. I love it!!!! “Tragedies bring about great fortunes sometimes.” Well, Ms. Noffke….you have done it again! Bravo! Encore! The show must go on!

When and Why did you start to write?

Excerpt:  Killer meets Britt

The girl, Britt, is moving around the small space, clearly at ease with her surroundings. She opens a laptop and sits at a desk wedged in one corner. “You can sit.” Britt points to a second chair.

Good. For a second I thought I was going to be forced to get up on the treatment table. I’m not in the mood to be a guinea pig today.

That’s a lie. I don’t really care what the trainers or specialists do to me as long as they make me a better fighter. It’s the girl that bothers me, not the thought of being under a microscope. This is the only woman I’ve ever met who isn’t instantly and irrevocably afraid of me, and the only one whowho has me tempted into thinking I could have more. More than a filthy, dirty fuck to release tension. More than someone to use for a few hours of pleasure.

Britt’s obviously already damaged. As much as I’d love to peel back those layers, I don’t want to give her a chance to dig out my own psychological scars, the nightmares hidden beneath a baggy hoodie and a cold stare. If I do, Britt may never recover from what she finds.

“I’m sorry,” she apologizes, tapping on her computer. “I only found out you were coming last night, so I don’t have much information and haven’t reviewed your medical file.”

She’s so quiet, I strain to hear her. When I don’t respond, she cocks her head and her eyes flick up to mine. Shit. I duck down so she can’t get a good look at my face.

Fucking coward. She’s going to find out at some point, idiot. Why delay the inevitable? She’ll see the same thing everyone else sees when they look in my eyes… nothing, a monster, a killer.
