*Breath in and out* Rex….WOW!! Where do I begin??? He is suuuuuch a DB in the last book. He really only cares about what makes his “member” happy. He only cares for himself and the next barfly to warm him up. He sees Caroline and immediately nick names her “Lux” because she IS a deluxe model woman. She is stiletto heels, suits, fancy hair up dos and so NOT in his world like her besties Sass and Doll.
This book we see an entirely new man. Rex got some BIG news last book and he is really re-evaluating his life. He realizes what a selfish guy he is and offers to help Lux. He sees his failures from before and will not let Lux, extended Hellion family, down. This book was really DEEP. I mean Rex is really stepping up to make himself a better man. He sees Caroline and is attracted YES but knows it will never happen. She is a business suits future wife not a man in a leather cut. I loved that this “innocent” friendship actually helped them settle into a routine and that in itself allowed a REAL relationship to grow.
Caroline…wow!!! Not the girl we think. We have SEEN her as a rich girl and living a rich lifestyle. The discoveries made in this book blew me away. I never thought that THIS was Caroline. Seems the name Lux is totally incorrect!! Caroline has some deep dark secrets that all come crashing down. These secrets force her to come clean about her past. It forces her to accept help from the Hellions and Rex.
I have to admit, I was expecting a lot of push/pull and sexual chemistry in the book based off of prior books and scenes between the characters. That is all there but is it sooooo much better. The connection that Rex and Lux make is much more and even deeper then I could have imagined. Lux really learns to rely and TRUST Rex while he learns to open up and CARE for someone fully and unselfishly. There are a few twists and turns and each one makes the couple open up a little more and each new discovery leads to more opening of their hearts…….As much as I love me some Tank for my future Baby Daddy, I think Rex may be fighting for contention to my heart…..
