#AuthorSpotlight #MOA #RoyalReaders – K.D. Proctor

K.D. Proctor

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

KD Proctor loved college so much that when it came time to graduate, she didn’t want to leave. Trading in her textbooks for student handbooks and policy manuals, she began a career in College Student Personnel and she fulfilled her wish to stay on a college campus forever. Working on a college campus gives her lots of book ideas–and her mother is just happy she’s finally using that English degree. KD is an award winning author and lives in West Central, Minnesota with her husband and fur-kids. She likes to write fun twists on the usual tropes that we all love. Her characters are smart, funny, and always swoony. And yes. They always get their happily ever after.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

The only requirement that I have when I write is an idea and an outline. That’s it! Without those two things, the writing just won’t happen.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Of course I love meeting new readers who pick up my book on a whim and are happy to take a chance on a new-to-them author. I also enjoy meeting other authors, sharing ideas, and even picking up new books for myself as well!

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Colleen Hoover. True story: when I got an idea for my very first manuscript I wanted to find someone who would take me under their wing and help me make heads or tails of all of this author stuff. In a bold move (that still surprises me to this day…) I reached out to Colleen and asked her to be my mentor. She was kind enough to respond and while she wasn’t able to do it, she gave me some great advice that shaped how I look at writing and publishing in general.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

Nope. I write when the idea hits me. It’s not uncommon for me to go weeks or even months without writing anything. I don’t force my writing because when I’ve done that, it’s been terrible. So, I write when the mood strikes me.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Holding my debut novel for the first time. There is nothing like it.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

Can’t say that I do….

Tina Susedik

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Tina Susedik Tina Susedik is an award-winning, Amazon best-selling, multi-published author with books in both fiction and non-fiction, including history, children’s, military books and romances. Her favorite is writing romantic suspense where her characters live happily ever after with a lot of problems in between. She has thirty-one books in print. When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

I have to play music, but only instrumental. Words from songs seem to end up in my story. I usually have a cup of tea or glass of water. I sit on the couch with my laptop on my lap.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting and talking with readers, along with meeting new authors.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

If she were still writing, I’d love to meet Lavyrle Spencer. If she were still alive, it would be Kathleen Woodiwiss.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I try to stick to a schedule where I write in the morning and edit for other authors in the afternoon, but sometimes life intrudes. I.E. Grands get sick and I have to take care of them, hubby is home (he is quite a distraction). I tried writing while we were having our kitchen remodeled – too much noise.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Winning my first contest.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

I have all of Kathleen Woodiwiss and Lavyrle Spencer’s books on my keeper shelf. Kathleen was the first romance author I ever read. Lavyrle has a way of making you believe you are her characters. They are very realistic

Publishing a book has been a lifelong dream of hers and she is excited to share her romantic stories with you. Her heroines are classy, sassy and in search of love and adventure. When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

#AuthorSpotlights #MOA #RoyalReaders – Jody Vitek

Jody Vitek

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Jody Vitek – I started writing after having to leave my job and become a stay at home mom of two, and ended up with a bonus baby a couple years later. I have written five novels, and four short stories in four different anthologies. I have three children, a dog, and a cat. I recently lost my husband so writing has been pushed to the side, but not forgotten.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

It has to be quiet. The only time I put music on is if I need inspiration, and that’s rare. I’m usually at my dining room table or in my office when writing. I generally don’t eat and work at the same time because it stops the mojo. If I’m not drinking coffee, it’s water or tea.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting readers, of course.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Well, I already met Nora, so I’m happy.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

When I am writing, my day usually starts between 9 and 10 am and goes until about 3 pm. Of course I stop for lunch around noon. Last year I started doing writing sprint on laundry days. Most of the time my writing is done at home.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

I attended my first BIG author signing, with my first release, at the RT Convention and sold a few copies of my book.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

Night Whispers by Judith McNaught – This was one of the first romance books that I read the stuck with me for days and nights well after I’d finished reading it.

Michel Prince, USA Today Best Selling author from the midwest that believes in happy endings and that Love doesn’t color inside the lines.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Lately my recliner, though in the summer I do like sitting on my deck. Music, lots of music. I have a playlist I’m always adding to that has a variety of songs. Rock, country, opera… I like to mix it up.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Readers. Meeting them in person, whether they’ve read your books or have no clue who you are, there is always a good conversation.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Judy Blume. I’ve lucked out and met quite a few of my hero authors, she’s still illusive to me. That being said I really suck as a stalker so it could be my fault.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I wish. I write in bursts. With the day job I look for days off to binge and sprint all day.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Jodie Bivens slapping a sheet of notebook paper in front of me and saying “these are what I have I need the rest.” I was a pretty new author and, much like I still am, I’m always shocked people spend their valuable time and money on my creations.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

I have one signed by the Warden, J.R. Ward, another signed by Darynda Jones and finally an old copy I may or may not have stolen from my high school A Separate Peace. All wonderful books.
