We’re told at a young age that words can never hurt us, but I’ve learned over the years that it’s not true. Some words can break us so badly that we never fully recover from them. Goodbye being the worst of all.
As a young adult I was forced to say goodbye to my father. Losing him broke me in a way I never thought I’d recover from… until I met Ryan.
Ryan Mitchell was the balm my soul needed to heal. He filled my life with happiness, love, and affection. He made me want things I didn’t think I ever would, and the dreams I’d said goodbye to years before didn’t seem so lost anymore. He taught me to live life to the fullest, and open myself to love. I didn’t think anything could bring me down from the high he kept me on… but I was wrong.
Life sometimes throws us curveballs that we can’t explain. It tests us and pushes us harder than we can ever imagine. I didn’t think I’d survive the crash, but I did.
Sometimes goodbye can be beautiful and it was…with Ryan.
*This is a STANDALONE contemporary romance*
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh man!! The first chapter had my eyes leaking!! I mean WHAT!! Chapter 1!! So needless to admit, this is a bit of a tear jerker…hello the title should give you some insight to that as well…….
Our girl Rachel is a mechanic who has lost everyone she has loved. She has her garage and her bestie Kasey but that is it. She is closed off to meeting anyone because everyone leaves her. She is struggling to make ends meet with her garage and can’t stand the thought she might lose it because it’s the last part of her family legacy.
Ryan is a pediatric nurse who is hiding his own demons when he meets the hot tow truck driver. He knows she is way different than anyone he has ever met and can’t wait to spend some time with her even if he has to kidnap her to do it…LOL
Ryan and Rach are two peas in the same pod. They both have tragedy to overcome and this helps to forge a bond together. When Rach finds out Ryan’s big secret she is a mess. She can’t handle it. She just can’t deal with the possibility of losing someone she loves again. The couple go through a gambit of emotions dealing with the new struggle they have in front of them. When Rach goes outta her way to help the love of her life, she may end of causing more trouble than good for Ryan.
Ok like I said…TEARY EYES!! The first chapter I tried to read at work and quickly slammed my book shut. That is a no go……The first chapter sucks you in to the heart of Rachel and her fear of abandonment completely. As the story progresses we can see the internal struggle Ryan has to keep his secrets from Rachel. There were several times in the book that my eyes were getting leaky because this couple’s love for each other is very strong and their commitment is tight but sometimes even the strongest love can be broken!!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Tissues are needed for this read the Prologue got me. I was so not prepared I had to hunt the tissues down and fast then they didn’t leave my side.
Rachel suffered a lot in her 22 years after losing her Mom when she was little and then to have to make the decision she did with her Dad heartbreaking I tell you. The only thing Rachel had to hold onto them was her Dad’s garage. But with bills & mortgage on the building she was slowly losing the last thing she had connecting her to her Dad. She didn’t have much to believe in to fight for until she met Ryan.
Ryan was a nurse and had carried a heavy burden around that everyone in his home town knew about. He wanted to find friends that didn’t know his past and would like him for him. He found Rachel and their connection was instant. Could Ryan let Rachel in all the way let her know everything in his life? Could Rachel handle falling for Ryan and losing someone else?
My heart ached for these two for everything they went through, for everything they were going through and for everything they would go through. This is a heart breaker from the start with the decision that Rachel is faced with. To see Ryan deal with what he is going through and seeing his relationship with his patient Jamie was a tear jerker. Ryan’s Parents are a piece of work I cannot imagine parents treating their child as they did Ryan.
This is a great story that pulls at your heart strings. My heart hurt to see all the heartbreak. There were so many Goodbyes in this story some were heart wrenching and some choked me up, but in the end it was a Beautify Goodbye.
My favorite quote:
“Rach, things don’t always go the way we want them to, but how you react to them sets the tone for your life. Don’t let the bad things define you. Turn them into good ones. Always live, and have no regrets.”
