#PreOrder #YA – ROB STARR by JA Howard

Rob Starr (sigh) was out of Mia Morgan’s league. Of course she had a crush on him. Everyone did. Not that she could ever admit that. It would just be too weird. For starters, their moms were besties and Mia had known Rob since she was five. But while Mia was now a demi-geek with relentlessly-frizzy hair, Rob had become a demi-god and Ellsworth High’s basketball superstar. Besides, he’d been going out with the totally perfect Chloe Olsen since, like, forever.
But one October afternoon, a terrible accident changed everything. Mia and Rob were suddenly living in the same house and spending a lot of time alone together.
Soon, Mia’s world was changing in ways she never thought possible: new clothes, new friends, and an incredibly hot boyfriend. But was any of it real? Would any of it last? And did getting everything she wanted mean giving up everything she was?

J. A. Howard, aka Julie Howard, is an author and business executive living in New York. Time Stamps by [KL Kreig]

Time stamps.

Our life is marked by them. Significant milestones to the seemingly mundane. All of them have a place. A purpose. Moments and chapters stacking on each other, building scars and memories. Creating stories that are only ours to tell.

But those stamps are finite, pre-determined. And eventually our allotment runs out.

This is our story. Our collection of time stamps. The culmination of our love, our struggles, our redemption and our heartbreak. This story isn’t always easy, but it is real. A genuine account of utter devotion, where every page is crammed with pure emotion and truth and the gift of loving another person more than yourself. Share with us in our dreams, our laughter. Cry with us in our sorrows, our pain.

Take this journey through our time stamps with Laurel and I, and I will meet you at the end.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

SHUT UP!!  I can’t even begin to discuss this journey.  That’s right journey people.  This book is an emotional work of art for any reader.  If you are a fan of KL Kreig you are not at all shocked by this statement but if you weren’t before, you will be!!

Snot sobbing. Ugly cry.  Emotional Roller Coaster.  Take you pick but be prepared for that you are about to dive into.  You will not have dry eyes.  You will use about 6 boxes of tissues while reading this book and even after.  The feeling and emotions are in every single page of this book are true life and pure.

Roth and Laurel’s love story is so full.  I loved how they met and loved so many moments in their life.  The journey of their story is one that will stick with you for days…maybe even months later!!

I’m just a regular ol’ Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It’s a vicous cycle. I love carbs, but there’s love-hate relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell…who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out, I’m a raving bitch. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don’t ask, it’s a thing).

I purchased this book and audio when I met the author at a book signing.

Narration was great.  I loved Gregory’s Australia accent.  Morea did a great job trying to nail it as well.  Both brought a lot of li

First of all, I gotta say this book reminded me of the movie “The Cutting Edge”.  Do you remember that flick about the ice princess figure skater and the washed-up hockey player?  This book reminded me so much of that movie!!  I loved the movie, so I was here for the books as well.

Cierra and Spencer are both broken souls.  Spencer is broke, because he gave up everything including love to chase his dream to stay in professional hockey.  The dream was smashed and now he is trying to figure his life out when a job opportunity lands in front of him.

Cierra is a broken skater who doesn’t even know if she even loves this sport anymore.  She is tired of not making any decisions about her life for herself. She is tired of everyone telling her what to do and when to do it.  She rebels and sure as hell isn’t going to listen to this NEW IDIOT tell her what to do.

Cierra and Spencer take a roadtrip and everything changes in an instant.  They decide to live life and see what can happen.  They both know that this will change everything…either for the better or the worse.

I enjoyed the couple and seeing them start to form an attraction and work through all their issues.  This book was my first read by this author, but I hope not my last

Author and hopeless romantic, Ariana Rose, dabbles in all forms of contemporary romance. All her novels do have one thing in common. Her heroes and heroines are as passionate about life and love as they are about each other.

A mother of two, she hails from the Midwest. Born and raised in the Minneapolis area, she’s always been a storyteller and known to have a flair for the dramatic. Her daughter is just across the border attending college and is a go to for all things web design. Her son is a busy middle schooler who loves all things penguins, science, gaming, cars and the weather. He’s been known to hang in many Storm Chaser marathons with Mom. Ariana’s fur baby (a beagle/lab) can be found curled next to her while she writes unless chasing squirrels and finding puppy friends becomes a more pressing issue.

When Ariana is not writing, she can be found at the rink in a figure skating lesson, binge watching her favorite shows, watching an 80s movie she’s seen hundreds of times, exploring history or traveling to any of her current or new favorite places.

First up, for all you cliffhanger haters…this is a cliffhanger so suck it up buttercup and read it!

If you didn’t read the prologue, no worries, its in this novel as well.  We meet Adrian and Valentina.  They are attracted to each other, but they are in different mafia families.  Val’s family hates Adrian’s family.  Val is in a bad situation being engaged to a monster who feels that fists are for women and not hugs…catch my drift??  So Val makes Adrian an offer he can’t refuse…. keep Val for life to be is wife and kill her douche fiancée who she is not even close to in love with.

Adrian and Val must deal with a lot since Sal left Val with a few parting bruises and another terrible trauma to deal with.  Adrian is trying to burn the world down to find her ex ALONG WITH her father.

The two slowly learn each other’s tells and bodies *Snickers* while learning to lean on each other.  They are slowly falling in love, but each is worried about what will happen IF the council takes her away.  IF the council nullifies their marriage.  IF Val leaves him once the deal is done. IF he will toss her out and not want her anymore once the deal is done.  They talk but sometimes talk AROUND their fears.

There is a lot of violence, twists, backstabbing and worries to keep this couple on their toes.  We are dying to see Adrian get some revenge for Val.  We are also hoping to see this love blooming between Adrian and Val become more open and then………………BOMB DROP and holy moly was I left with my mouth open at the end.     I mean we see it coming but yeah….its still a hard one to swallow.  I cant wait for more!!!

Review by Twinsie Angie

I am going to be honest.  I am not sure if Michel gave me the audio code for this audiobook or if I bought it.  But whatever the case, here is my honest review.

Let’s just get to the point with narration…Kat Maxwell is amazing.  I love love love all the books that I have listened to her narrate.  She has a great ability to make each person sound different.  She can emphasize at just the right time in certain scenes to make sure you get that intended laugh or pick up on the sarcasm.  Seriously her narration definitely brings more to the table and authors should be looking her up for books.  I never doubt an audiobook when I see she is narrating it.

Oh Mandy, Mandy, Mandy….or Miss Man as the kids call her.  She is a broken mess of hurt, sadness, rejection, and loss of emotion.  I mean everyone knows someone like her or everyone had been where she is.  She uses her body and sex to make her FEEL but in the end is left feeling worse.  When secrets about her parentage come tumbling out of the closet, she is stunned at how this little bit of news will change the “Growing Strong Mafia”.  She soon learns that not everything is what it seemed.

Ashton sees what an amazing, loyal, fierce, and sexy as hell person Amanda is but can’t understand why she devalues herself all the time.  He is falling for the hard as nails teacher and wants to make sure she understands he is there for the long haul IF she can open her heart to him.  He makes her soon see that relationships aren’t all THAT bad IF you find the ONE person to complete your soul.

Don’t worry friends Mandy does not make it easy for Ashton but he challenges her at every turn while being there to comfort her as her life slowly starts to crumble around her.  More and more secrets start to spill, and Mandy starts to wonder why life can be so craptatic.  Mandy also needs to realize that Ash IS WORTH IT and WILL NOT disappoint her in the end.

Don’t worry friends, I yelled at Mandy a time or two to stop being a rock-hard stubborn idiot.  I also yelled at Ashton to slow his roll because Mandy is a timid horse who will buck you at every turn.  However, their story was hilarious and funny to read.  Her hating him more than air was the best thing ever especially knowing that no one believed her line of bull!!

Michel Prince is an author who graduated with a bachelor degree in History and Political Science. Michel writes young adult and adult paranormal romance as well as contemporary romance.

With characters yelling “It’s my turn damn it!!!” She tries to explain to them that alas, she can only type a hundred and twenty words a minute and they will have wait their turn. She knows eventually they find their way out of her head and to her fingertips and she looks forward to sharing them with you.

When Michel can suppress the voices in her head she can be found at a scouting event or cheering for her son in a variety of sports. She would like to thank her family for always being in her corner and especially her husband for supporting her every dream and never letting her give up.

I pin my hair up on top of my head and give it a quick spray. I pull the illuminating powder and contour brush out of my makeup bag. I add some to my forehead and above my cheekbones. I grab Greta’s setting spray and quickly use it on my face.

“You look hot, girl,” Greta says from behind me. She grabs my lipstick and quickly dabs it on my lips before stepping back. “There, perfection.”

Out of the Collins kids, I’m the baby in the family. Greta is a year and a half older than me, but she’s my best friend and roommate. I turn back toward the mirror. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, you know I wouldn’t tell you, you looked great unless I meant it. I went through your closet and found the perfect outfit.” My sister is a fashionista and has a good eye for style.

She disappears out of the bathroom, and I follow her into my bedroom. On my bed are my black low rider wide-leg tuxedo pants and a silver top that hugs my breasts, making them look bigger. Lord knows I could use all the help I can get.

Since I’m the youngest, the boobs were all taken up by the time I came along. I take off my robe and pull on some pink satin panties and a matching bra. I grab my perfume, spray some in front of me, and walk through it.

I get dressed and slip on a pair of black stiletto sling backs. Looking in the mirror, I feel confident and sexy. My plan is to pick up some hot football player and have some much-needed fun.

That’s what I need, to have fun. Over the past couple of years, I’ve spent most of my time building my clientele at the studio and proving to my sisters that I deserved my spot there.

I head into the living room and find Greta standing in front of the mirror, fiddling with her hair. I love my sister, but I can totally admit that I’m jealous of her. She’s tall, lean, has gorgeous long, wavy brown hair, and is beautiful inside and out.

Her dress is a mixture of pinks, creams, and browns. It’s a long, flowy maxi dress with long sleeves and a slit in the front. She’s wearing brown thick-heeled sandals, which compliment her Boho chic style.

She smiles when she sees me. “Damn, I knew that outfit would look great. I ordered our Uber, so we should probably head downstairs.”

We grab our purses, lock up, and head downstairs. Tonight is a party for Nick’s arena football team. He invited us so we could hang with our sister, Sierra, I’m sure.

When we reach Blaze, a man in an all-black suit opens the door for us and holds out his hand, helping each of us out. We step inside and head up a beautiful staircase to the space where the party is at.

We grab some champagne before searching out our family.

“Look at all these hot men,” Greta leans down and whispers in my ear.

I cover my mouth as I giggle, but then I sober up. The one and only serious boyfriend I ever had was a football player, a quarterback, and that asshole broke my heart.

Greta moves to stand in front of me. “What’s that look for?” She tips her head to the side, looking closely at me.

I give her my best fake smile. “Nothing, just admiring the view.” Yes, these men are all hot, but I have no desire to hook up with a football player. “Let’s go find everyone.” I take a sip of my champagne and thread my arm through hers, and we walk through the crowd, looking for our family.

The party is in full swing, and I glance around the room. There truly are hot guys everywhere. The players we’ve met have been nice. Several of them have been vying for Greta’s attention, but of course they would because she’s a babe. I haven’t decided if there are any men that I want to speak to yet. Nick calls someone named Colton over, and my stomach pitches, which is stupid because there are a lot of guys out there named Colton.

I turn toward Nick, and that’s when my heart stops, and my stomach drops. Colton Winters is standing in front of me for the first time in five years. “Heidi.” Just hearing my name on his lips has me turning and running down the stairs.

Outside, I run down the street with Colton calling my name, but all I can hear are the words he spoke to me five years ago. “Heidi, I just don’t love you anymore. This is over.” I stop, panting for breath and holding my side due to a stitch.

Colton stops in front of me, but I don’t think—I just react, slapping him across the face. “Stay away from me,” I grit out. “I just don’t love you anymore.” I throw those words back at him and flag down a cab, climbing inside when it pulls up to the curb before he can follow me.

It’s not until I’m safely back in my apartment that I finally fall apart. I lock myself in my bedroom and grab a box from the back of my closet. Peeling the lid off, I feel the tears fill my eyes.

The first picture was from our eighth-grade graduation. Colton was behind me with his arms around me—both of us smiling widely at the camera. God, we were just babies, and I still had braces.

No one thought we’d last back then, but we proved them wrong, over and over, with each passing year. I wanted to marry him—I wanted to have his children, and I almost did until that slipped away as well.

In a matter of two months I lost him, and then I lost the baby I was carrying. I never told anyone about the second, and I never will. I honestly don’t know what it is about us Collins women, but three of us have found ourselves at one point knocked-up and single. Well, Sierra isn’t single; she may say she is, but Nick follows her around like a lovesick fool. I can’t wait to see it when she realizes she loves him too.

I focus on the pictures. Shit, I took so many. Our whole relationship is in this box in the form of pictures. My favorite is one that was taken right before Colton broke up with me—the night I’m sure our child was conceived.

“How many people are going with you?” Mom asks as I carry my sleeping bag and backpack downstairs.

I shrug. “I don’t know. Maybe three or four. Colton’s the one who set this up.” Ugh … I hate lying to my mom, but with graduation getting close, we’re going to be so busy. Colton and I just want one night alone.

We love camping, so we’re going, just the two of us, for a romantic getaway, sleeping under the stars.

Mom gets close, lowering her voice. “I know you’re having sex, but promise me you’re being careful.”

I roll my eyes. “I am. We are; I promise.”

My parents found out we were having sex when we were sixteen. One night when they were out, Colton was over, and things were getting very physical between us. Miles had come home to surprise us, and surprise us he did. Poor Colton got chased out of the house, naked, by my overprotective big brother.

He, of course, called our parents, who then came home and chewed us out before calling Colton’s mom and dad. There was a lot of yelling, some crying, and then talking.

Colton shows up as I reach the bottom of the stairs. He knocks and then comes right in. “Hey, babe.” He leans down to kiss me.

God, he is so hot, but he’s so much more than that too. He’s kind, loving, funny, and so freaking smart it’s scary.

Bam, bam, bam… “Heidi are you okay?” Greta asks from outside my door, pulling me from my trip down memory lane. “Honey, open the door.”

“G-go away, Greta. I’m fine. I just want to be left alone.” I sit quietly and pray that she goes away.

“Are you sure?” She’s quiet for a minute. “Was that the first time you’ve seen Colton since you broke up?”

Does she mean when he broke up with me, shattering my heart into unfixable pieces? I don’t answer her because I’m afraid of what might come out of my mouth.

I can hear her sigh from the other side of the door. “I’ll leave you alone for now, but I love you, and I’m here for you.”

I quickly grab my pillow from my bed, bury my face in it, and sob.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

After reading this short story, I am ready to dive right into this novel.  Valentina is engaged to her awful dad’s douchey business partner who believe hands are for hitting.  While she is scared of him and her dad, she leans on her bestie/cousin Rose for help.  While at a business dealing, she sees Aiden.  Both seem to be transfixed by the other when they learn who the other is.  She is told he is the monster to fear, and he drawn to her innocents.

The story flies and gives us a brief introduction to each character.  We soon see at the end how they come to be together.
