Celebrating Pride with N.R. Walker #authorspotlight #mmromance

Hello, and thanks for being here to Celebrate Pride Month with Twinsie Talk. I’m Twinsie Tenise, self proclaimed resident MM reader and reviewer over here at TwinsieTalk. Throughout the Month of June we will be sharing Q&A sessions we had with over a dozen authors who write LGBTQIA Romance or books with LGBTQIA characters. Each day will Spotlight a different author. We hope you enjoy getting to know these wonderful authors and find lots of new books to fill your TBR.
Special thanks to all of the authors who signed up and took the time to answer the questions.
Shoutout and HUGE thank you to Twinsie Jo for the amazing rainbow graphics and Twinsie Angie for her input and assistance. Love you both!
Today we are celebrating pride month with Author NR Walker

Author also writes as A. Voyeur

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things…but likes it even more when they fall in love. She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She’s been writing ever since…

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you?
I’m N.R. Walker. I’m an Aussie author of LGBTQIA romance, and I’ve been published since 2011.
🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I found queer romance in fanfiction a loooong time ago and began reading and then writing it. It’s been my passion ever since.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I don’t really prefer one over the other. I write what the characters tell me to write, and if that’s one shorter standalone book, or a whole series, that’s what I write. However long it takes. I wish I could plan/map out series and write to market but unfortunately, that’s not how my brain works.
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I just finished writing my latest WIP. It’s an 80,000 word standalone, Australian historical, cowboy – very Man From Snowy River ish. I’m aiming for a May release.
🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
Coffee and/or Pepsi Max. I love snacks I keep on my desk, like a little bento box of grapes, apple, cheese, crackers etc.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
My catalogue is very big and varied so it would depend on their preferences and mood. If you like light and funny, then Bloom or Upside Down. If you like steamy, EWB or Bossy. If you like angst, Galaxies and Oceans.
🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
Oooooh… tough question LOL  I always recommend Widdershins by Jordan L Hawk.
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love watching BL (Boy Love) shows! And reading, of course 😉
🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
Thank you for having me here!

My 5 star review for 65 Hours

An ad agency has 65 hours to put together a campaign that will wow the client. The best 2 ad executives are put on the job. In order to get the job done, they are basically stuck together for the next few days. One begins to wonder is it even possible for them to complete this job in the time allotted? As the clock counts down to the final hour, a new– dare I say– romance begins to form. And what these 2 men discover about themselves and each other as the chapter numbers climbed was incredible. But will any of what they experienced even matter when Monday arrives and reality comes crashing through their bubble?

Oh my gosh! I already want to reread this book. I loved these 2 men, their chemistry, banter, and the entire storyline. Coming out is not easy, it should be but sometimes fear over what others think or how others may react, make coming out for some a bit more difficult, sadly sometimes impossible. I felt Cameron’s pain and struggle but I also was pleased with response from those he loved most. I was rooting for a HEA and I just cannot say enough great things. 65 Hours is going to be one of my annual Pride Month rereads. I give this cute, enemies to lovers, super steamy, coming out story– 5 rainbow stars!

#review #mmromance Pretty Boy (Perfect Boys #1) by: K.M. Neuhold

Once upon a time, in a little Texas town in the middle of nowhere, there lived a boy who everyone called ugly…

When half your face is covered in a big, blotchy birthmark, you get used to the staring and the whispers. You get used to feeling unwanted. Until he walks into my bar… Tall, gorgeous, and all kinds of out of place.

And the way he looks at me ain’t like no way I’ve ever seen before. Does he mean it when he says he wants to take me away from here? Nobody’s ever wanted me around for long. Can I believe Barrett when he says that’s what he wants?

Something about the word Daddy on my lips makes it all seem possible. Even if I don’t really believe anyone would want to keep an ugly boy like me forever…

*** Pretty Boy is a low-ish angst, steamy, sweet Daddy story with NO age play.

Review by Twinsie Tenise

Sterling has a huge birthmark on his face that he has been teased and ridiculed about his entire life. He knows this makes him ugly. Which also makes him unworthy of the love of another.

Barrett stops on his way through town and can’t seem to keep his eyes off the bartender. This man is beautiful and he will make him his.

Sterling thinks this must be some sort of a joke, no one is attracted to him so there’s no way this is real. Barrett leaves town but vows to stop again on his way home. He wants the Pretty Boy bartender so bad. He’s gotta have him. But proving himself to the bartender is going to be more difficult than Barrett ever imagined. He’s got his work cut out for himself but he’s up for the challenge. Sterling is worth it.

K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie. bisexual and polyamorous, she often describes herself as being in love with love. She loves to write stories full of bearded, cinnamon roll men who get super swoony HEAs. Her philosophy is there’s so much angst and sadness for LGBT characters in media, all she wants is to give them the happiest happily ever afters she can with little angst, tons of humor, and SO MUCH STEAM. K.M. fully admits to her tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory that will likely always lead to every book turning into a series or spin-off. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her huskies while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

Today we are celebrating pride month with J.M. Walker!
J.M is another WotR Family member. As some of you know she is also a Twinsie, I met J.M. at the first Writers on the River and since then she has become so much more than just an author I read. She is also a good friend and I appreciate her so much. I look forward to our yearly visits with J.M. and her amazing husband and table assistant, Michael. They are a couple of the kindest people I know.
J.M. has already published a couple of LGBTQIA titles with a MM series in the works set to release in 2025 so keep an eye out for updates about that series on social media.

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you.
My name is J.M. Walker and I’m a Canadian author who writes erotica romance, romance suspense, dark romance and now MM!
🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I started reading MM romance and fell in love with the dynamic between 2 guys. It just hits different, ya know? So I thought I’d challenge myself and try to write it myself. It seems to be going okay so far.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I don’t have a preference but I can say that after writing a giant 11 book series, I was definitely ready to write a standalone and/or shorter book series.
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I do! I’m currently working on a 4 book MM series of novellas about 4 best friends who own a coffee shop/bar. The themes are light taboo and these little books are oh so dirty but light and fun. I needed a break from the heavy subjects because my next books are not going to be easy ones.
🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
I don’t usually snack while writing but for drinks, coffee in the morning, water throughout the day and if I have any, wine or beer in the evening.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
Broken Scars – it’s a dark romance standalone and it’s one of my favourites I’ve ever written.
🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
Bully King by Andi Jaxon – It was my first book I read by her and I just loved it. It is darker and does have some trigger warnings, so please read with caution but it’s definitely at the top of my list.
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Running – I usually complain during said runs but after, I feel amazing. Lol!
Anything else you would like to add?
Thank you!

This is my review for her MMF book With Us

I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

Honestly, I’m not even sure how to write this review. It took me 2 days after finishing this beautiful story to even collect my thoughts enough to try and write them down.

Meadow has always felt like things were lacking as far as her sex life was concerned. Plain old vanilla just wasn’t enough to satisfy her needs. One night while out with friends she meets not one but two bikers, Sunny and Shade, who are twice her age. The mutual attraction between the 3 of them is instantaneous.

This book was so freaking H-O-T!!! I mean, like you are going to need a cold shower to cool down kinda hot. There were plenty of hot moments, but lots of oh-so-sweet moments, too. The way these two men took care of Meadow was heartwarming. The three of them were perfect for each other.

With Us is one of those rare books that consumed me. It touched my soul. I will never EVER forget Sunny, Shade, and Meadow. Their story will stay with me. I may even be able to read it again. Someday.
I’m throwing out the normal rating system and giving it 5×3 stars!

Celebrating Pride Month with Jennifer Laslie #Spotlight #Wotr24 #attendingauthor

Shoutout and HUGE thank you to Twinsie Jo for the amazing rainbow graphics and Twinsie Angie for her input and assistance. Love you both! 😘
Today we are celebrating Pride Month with Jennifer Laslie.
Jennifer is another Writers on the River family member. Her sarcasm and wit match ours and she has a heart of gold. She and her husband are so supportive, even behind the scenes. They literally jumped in and assisted with moving tables one night before event day. She and Twinsie Angie share a mutual love for Disney and Taylor Swift! I am also a Swiftie. And while I can’t get on the Disney bandwagon, their love for the place is adorable. I mean look at her face in the pic below. Pure bliss! I love it! We cannot wait to see you next month.

Jennifer Laslie is a crazy cat lady who lives in Utah with her wonderful family. Her office affords her a mountain view that she loves! When she’s not thinking about cheesecake or cats, she can be found in the bookstore in the Young Adult section, coffee in hand.

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you?
My name is Jennifer Laslie. I currently live in Layton, Utah with my family. I absolutely love the mountains! I’d also say I’m a crazy cat lady, but we determined a few months ago that my husband is the problem! HAHA!
🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I’m bisexual myself and there just didn’t seem to be a lot of good bisexual or lesbian romance out there.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I prefer to write standalones when it comes to the F/F stories, but I’m open to writing a series. A lot of it has to do with just coming up with a good series arc for it.
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I’m currently writing Forsaken Bonds with my friend Julie, who writes her LGBTQ+ stiff under Jenesis St. Clare. Part of it is currently up on Kindle Vella. It’s a rejected mates, enemies to lovers F/F story.
What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
I’m good with some honey roasted pecans, chocolate peanut butter pie oreos, or a good cup of coffee to help me write!
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
If they’re looking for LGBTQ+ and like series, I’d recommend my Unfortunate Spells Series, but only the last book has a F/F storyline. If they’re wanting a good, quick read, they can try Forbidden Throne which is my LGBTQ+ Fantasy Novella, which is one of my best sellers!
🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
If you like F/F, I would recommend you try Ariel Marie’s Sailing with Her Wolf!
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy read, formatting books for other authors, and binging reality TV shows like Love is Blind and Married at First Sight.
🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
I’d like to counter with a question myself to the readers out there. If you could find the perfect F/F story to read, what genre would it be and what tropes would it include?

Celebrating Pride Month with C.J. Baty #Spotlight #wotr24 #attendingauthor

Shoutout and HUGE thank you to Twinsie Jo for the amazing rainbow graphics and Twinsie Angie for her input and assistance. Love you both!
Today we are celebrating pride month with CJ Baty

C. J. Baty lives in southwest Ohio. Her heart however, lives in the mountains of Tennessee where she hopes to retire some day. The mountains have always provided her with inspiration and a soothing balm to the stresses of everyday life.

The dream of writing her own stories started in high school but was left on the back burner of life until her son introduced her to fan fiction and encouraged her to give it a try. She found that her passion for telling a story was still there and writing them down to share with others was much more thrilling than she had ever expected.

She has a loving and supportive family who doesn’t mind fixing their own meals when she is in the middle of a story. And a network of friends, who have encouraged and cheered her on in her quest of being an author.

One thing she has learned from life and she is often heard to say is: “You are never too old to follow your dream!”

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you?
C.J. Baty I live in Ohio but spend as much time as I can in the Smoky Mountains area. I love the quiet and peace that fills me when I’m there. My kids are grown now and a great joy in my life. Married for 48 years to my high school sweetheart.
🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I fell in love with the genre on Fan Fiction and started writing there.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I have some of both. A series can be a little difficult because of time lines and character names and histories. I’ve learned to keep what some authors call “A Story Bible” with information I might need from book to book.
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I’m presently working on 2. One is for the Pinkerton Man Series. The MC’s have to work with 2 Secret Service Agents. One of whom is a past lover of Michael. The other is a first release for my pen name Catherine Marcum. A mature woman’s love story with mystery and a chance for love after divorce.
🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
Zero Mt. Dew or coffee is my go to drinks. Most of the time I like something salty while I’m working.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
The Pinkerton Man Series bk 1 is a great place to start if you like gay romance with mystery, murder and characters that grow during the story.
🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
I’m hooked on C.S. Poe’s series called  Memento Mori. Read bk 1 Madison Square Murders and you’ll be hooked.
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Playing games on my phone, reading, and making swag.
🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
I love meeting readers  at Book events. I have a great group of writers in the area that get together often to work on WIP’s and just have fun.

Celebrating Pride Month with Joel Shoemaker #authorspotlight #wotr24 #attendingauthor

Hello, and thanks for being here to Celebrate Pride Month with Twinsie Talk. I’m Twinsie Tenise, self proclaimed resident MM reader and reviewer over here at TwinsieTalk. Shoutout and HUGE thank you to Twinsie Jo for the amazing rainbow graphics and Twinsie Angie for her input and assistance. Love you both!
Today we are celebrating pride month with Joel Shoemaker.

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you?
Joel Shoemaker is a magician, a librarian and the author of THREE books! He lives with his husband, a frog, a betta fish and the dog Maximus McMaker! Joel consumes an inordinate amount of cheese.
🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
Only one of my three books would I truly consider a romance and only very lightly at that. I didn’t set out to write a romance, I set out to write a gay, affirming faith story for teens and tweens. Something that celebrates and affirms BOTH faith and sexuality. bacon grief is one of the only books that does that. The fact that it’s also a bit of a love story was probably inevitable.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I have only published standalones so far. I have a manuscript that is a gay murder mystery for teens written entirely in text messages and other ephemera. I don’t know why, but I think TEXT MESSAGE MURDER MYSTERIES sounds like it has series potential so…maybe?
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I actually have a short story published in the charity anthology! I just love it so much and I think it has REAL novel potential. So I have written some other pieces for it but who knows. It would be a gay romance ghost story! How fun is that?
🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
Coffee. Bourbon. Cheese.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
My brand new picture book can be read in like a half hour probably. If that was enjoyed, bacon grief is an expansion of the same or similar themes. My short story collection about teeth then is just nonsense so why not read it too?
🏳️‍🌈If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
Darius the Great is Not Okay will always and forever be my recommendation to everyone. Uhg. It’s SO great.
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love community theatre. I just finished directing a gay rom-com for the Corn Stock lab here in Peoria.
🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
Thanks for this opportunity! I’m excited about my first appearance at the event!

#review #mmromance #suspense Inside Affair by Ella Frank

Xander
If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be: a surly, temperamental pain in my ass. Never in that equation would I ever include the word boyfriend—and not just because he’s straight.

The older brother of my life-long best friend, Sean is a detective for the Chicago PD, and is also known as Detective “Dick” for being…well, a surly, temperamental pain in everyone’s ass. He also happens to be the best they have, which is why I find myself on his doorstep the night my life is threatened by an anonymous stalker.

I only wanted the name of a bodyguard; I didn’t expect for Sean to volunteer for the job. Now, not only do I have a bodyguard, I also have a fake boyfriend.

Sean
It must be so hard to be Alexander Thorne, the number one prime-time news anchor in the country, with millions of dollars and a car that costs more than my house. I mean, I’m allowed to give him a hard time about it, but when some creep decides to cross the line and go after him, they’re gonna have to answer to me.

Going undercover has never been an issue in the past, so I don’t see why there’d be a problem now. Xander and I have known each other for years, so this should be a breeze. Except suddenly my stomach’s flipping when he looks my way, and my body comes alive whenever he brushes by me. I know I’m good at my job and playing a character and all, but this is getting out of hand.

I can’t be sure that either of us are playing anymore.

Alexander is the hottest news broadcaster in the Chicago area, if not the entire country. He seems to have attracted the attention of a nut job and now he is in desperate need of a bodyguard by morning.

Sean is Xanders best friends older brother. He sees no other option but to offer himself up as Xanders bodyguard. The stalker is upping their game and things are getting even more dangerous. Things between Xander and Sean also seem to be getting more dangerous as each man starts to feel a pull towards the other that has NEVER been there in all of the years they have known one another.

I was thrilled when when this one ended on a cliffhanger. Maybe that is because the series is complete and I was immediately able to dive in to book 2. A whole lot of it is because I love these 2 men and I’m excited to see what happens next for them.

Ella Frank is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Temptation series, including Try, Take,Trust, Tease, Tate, and True, and is the co-author of the fan-favorite PresLocke Series. Her Exquisite series has been praised as “scorching hot!” and “enticingly sexy!”

Today we are celebrating pride month with J. Lawson

J. Lawson was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. She moved to Peoria, Illinois in 2008, where she currently resides with her husband, son, and three dogs. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a Master’s in English Literature. She has been published in multiple literary magazines, and The Amulets (book one in The Amulets Trilogy) is her debut novel. Lawson enjoys reading fantasy, thriller, mystery, and most varieties of fiction. She also loves 80s-90s rock music.

🏳️‍🌈What’s your name and a little about you.
I’m Jackie Lawson from Peoria, Illinois. I grew up in/around Davenport, Iowa, and moved to Peoria 15 years ago. I live here with my husband, 14-year old son, and our 3 dogs. Ive been writing since middle school and currently have 6 books published and one more on the way.

🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
I grew up as a straight ally in a very supportive circle of queer friends. This allowed me to spend some pretty formative years in an environment that allowed me to learn who I was without as many external pressures. I owe more to that experience and those people than I could ever repay. Representation is important to me and that’s why it shows up in a majority of my writing in some way.

🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
I like a well developed story line and characters. Most of the time this mean a series for me. I’m working on my second standalone right now, though!
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
Sure! My current WIP is written and currently in the editing stages. Its a collecrion of short stories/novellas (7500 words or less) that tell what I imagine the stories are behind paintings I’ve come across. The stories, however, are most decidedly NOT what the artist was imagining while completing the painting. It’s been a blast to write and I hope readers enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
🏳️‍🌈What are your must have writing snacks and drinks?
It changes and varies depending on the time of day. Lately it’s been wasabi soy almonds, string cheese, and beef sticks.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
Peculiar Lessons: Semester One. It’s accessible, representative, and well-rounded. Plus, who doesnt love college students fumbling their way through life while studying beasties!?!?
If you could recommend 1 LGBTQIA Romance (not your own) to readers, what would that book be?
Singlets and Secrets by Joe Chianakis
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending time with family and friends I don’t get to see nearly enough, listening to audiobooks, and making bouquets and arrangements out of flowers crafted from rescued damaged books.

#review #mmromance #shifters #mpreg Charlie and the Panther (Land and Sea 4) by: Vinni George

What happens when fate intertwines shifters from land and sea?

Matteo Garras wants to be left alone. Most people take the hint. Apparently, Charlie Marsh isn’t most people. From the moment the alpha—who smells like sunshine—sits down next to Matteo at the local shifter bar, Matteo’s world tilts on its axis, making him want a future he didn’t think he could have, one he doesn’t think he deserves.

Charlie has always had a thing for grumpy cats, so his instant attraction to Matteo isn’t a surprise, but the intensity of his feelings and his possessive desire to protect the brooding omega are. The more Charlie gets to know Matteo, the more he realizes they have in common, including scars that are more than skin deep.

When pain from Matteo’s past tries to make him push Charlie away, fate pulls them back to each other, binding them together forever and giving Charlie the chance to show Matteo he deserves everything he’s ever dreamed of having.

Charlie and the Panther is the fourth and final book in the Land and Sea Shifter MPREG series featuring a grumpy panther with a sweet tooth, a sunshiny manatee with a heart of gold, and an accidental claiming.

Goodreads

Amazon

Charlie is a manatee shifter with a boat tour business. One day while unwinding after work he decides its time to introduce himself to the grouchy looking loner at the end of the bar.

Matteo (the grouchy loaner) prefers to keep to himself. If you don’t let others in, they can’t hurt you. And he has been hurt enough in his lifetime to avoid anything that has the potential to cause him any further harm.

Charlie is relentless in his approach but when the Panther finally let’s him in, it’s short lived and leaves both men miserable as ever. Fast forward to after my anger and some of the tears subsided, what happens in the coming chapters made me love Charlie even more. He’s perfect in every way. Charlie and Matteos story was so fun. Mr Grumpy meets Mr Sunshine. These 2 could not have been more different. With that being said they balanced each other perfectly. It checked all the boxes to make it my first 5 star read of 2024!
I’m really going to miss all the characters I’ve met throughout this series. They have all been wonderful but there is no doubt Charlie and Matteo are my favorite.

Vinni George has been a lover of romance novels (of all shapes, sizes, and colors) since she first got her hands on one of her grandmother’s Harlequins and has never looked back. She lives in Ohio with her two favorite guys (her husband and son) and, hopefully—one day—a dog. When not writing her own stories, she can be found helping to polish other people’s novels. In her spare time, Vinni dabbles in performance art, quilting, and various culinary pursuits and enjoys traveling.

Michele Shriver. Criminal defense attorney and family law mediator by day and writer by night.  Writing is cheaper than therapy and my job provides plenty of material. I just wish it wasn’t so hectic and I had more time to retreat to my fictional world.

🏳️‍🌈What made you decide to write LGBTQIA romance?
It was a little by accident. When I started writing, I had LGBTQIA secondary characters because I always want diversity in my books, And then those secondary characters wanted their own books, and I had to write them, and so on.
🏳️‍🌈Do you prefer to write standalones or series? Why?
Standalones with spin offs. I like standalones- complete stories and an HEA. But of course I always seem to have the aforementioned supporting characters who don’t leave me alone, so I write spin-offs and crossovers. It’s kind of like six degrees of separation.
🏳️‍🌈Do you have a current WIP? Care to share any details?
I’m currently working on an MM romance that is a modern day retelling of Cinderella, set in the world of modern day political intrigue and family drama. It will release in July, right before WOTR.
🏳️‍🌈If someone has never read your work, which book would you recommend?
I’m going to say Tranquil Harbor.  It’s women’s fiction with a sapphic bent. It’s special to me because I’m writing the next generation in this book, with the daughter of a couple in my very first book, now all grown up.
🏳️‍🌈What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When not writing, I’m probably reading or watching hockey or football.
🏳️‍🌈Anything else you would like to add?
Thanks for doing this!

Review from Twinsie Kelly

Death has a way of stirring up some very intense emotions but also seems to bring up secrets. Darcy and her mother, Meredith, don’t have the best of relationships. I think this occurs with a lot of families, but when Meredith is on her death bed she asks for her daughter specifically and gives her a hand blown glass heart with a cryptic message just before she passes. Darcy is drawn to find out more about her mother, in hopes of finding about what made her mom the way she was and why their relationship was so strained at time. This journey into her mother’s past also brings a lot of emotional baggage as she is accompanied by her soon to be ex. The exploration of her mother’s past, the prejudices she endured and overcame, and learning more about her mother prior to death really shows Darcy how closed off she has become, both emotionally and physically.

This story is very emotional. It shows the characters in very vulnerable situations while confronting and understanding their own emotions. There is a lot of reflection and a time of second chances. Sometimes it really is better to be late than never to show up. I will caution readers that if you have strained personal relationships, it will really touch those heartstrings. I highly recommend as this is a wonderful soul touching story.
