Don’t miss this heart pounding apocalyptic romance from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott!
There’s only one person Dean Wallace wants to save from the end of the world: sunshine girl from across the street. She’s always smiling. Who knows, maybe she can teach him a thing or two about how to live? But saving her against her will is harder than he expected.
Astrid Hardy doesn’t know what to think when she wakes up in her hot neighbor’s basement. He says he wants to protect her from the deadly virus threatening to collapse society. But that sounds like paranoid conspiracy theory nonsense, and losing her sh*t seems like the correct response.
As they watch the downfall of the world play out online, hear approaching gunshots, and smell smoke from nearby burning buildings, it all starts to seem horribly realistic. With almost everyone they know dead, and law and order gone…how will they navigate this new world together?
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
I absolutely loved her zombie books so I JUMPED to read this one. Now there aren’t any zombies so if that isn’t your thing you should be good.
Dean and Astrid are quite a pair. LOL Dean kinda…well….yeah he wants to keep the pretty but clueless neighbor safe as the world is coming to an end. SO he does what all rational men do, he kidnaps her. LOL If you read Kylie books you know the banter is amazing and hilarious between them.
As the world is falling apart and Astrid realized Dean isn’t as crazy as she thinks, they begin to travel to find a safe place to hunker down. Dean wants to keep her all to himself, and Astrid is like HELLLLS NO. They find a crew of like-minded people to form a town with while also finding another town of not so great men who feel they own all the women and items around.
I loved seeing Astrid realize her attraction to Dean and him opening to the fact she actually might have a few good ideas. Their adopted kid they find in the town is such a fun character because she is NOT ok with the friends to lovers change between the two.
I cannot wait to get this in audio because I just know it will be 100x better!!
UPDATE : I was given this audio book from the author for an honest review. Oh man was it even better listening to the story with Andi telling it. I laughed and got cringed with Astrid at times but boy did i SWOON again over Dean. This book is one I will relisten to time and time again.

Willette Archer has a secret—though some would argue how well kept it actually is. As right-hand woman and best friend to the owner of Bird’s Eye Tattoo Studio, her job has become her whole life. So, she occupies her days with shop decisions to avoid her disappointing dating life.
Of course, that might also have something to do with her two-decade old infatuation with her aforementioned best friend’s older brother.
Derek Tanner is at a loss—with basically everything. His apartment lease is up, most of his belongings are somewhere in storage, and the good doctor has been pulling extra shifts at the hospital due to lack of staff. His life is chaos. Thanks to these wonderful circumstances, dating is nowhere on his radar.
When his little brother suggests he stay in Willette’s spare room for the time being, he’s both grateful and hesitant. Sure, he grew up with Will, but they’ve never been as close—let alone in close quarters.
It doesn’t take very long for Doctor Derek to start seeing Will in a new light.
When boundaries are crossed and relationships are finally taken to the next level, will Willette get exactly what she’s been hoping for since childhood?
Contains mature themes.

I purchased this book.
Oh man Will and Derek. I have been waiting for this one.
Will is one of “the guys”. She is goth and happy. She is herself, with wild and crazy hair and all. Her bestie is in love, and she is so happy but also kinda jealous. If ONLY the one man she can’t have would be attainable.
Derek has always seen Will as his sister. She is Hawk’s bestie. She is family. UNTIL Hawk offers to let him move in with Will while he is apartment hunting. Then he sees Will in a new light….all of a sudden she is SEXY? WHAT!!
When Derek went and cock blocked Will on her date, I was cracking up. I mean, he has no clue why he did it. Oh yeah, he needed to save her from a douche…riiiight. Keep telling yourself that one Derek.
The story was filled with so much anticipation and the burn of them turning the corner from friends to lovers.
I am ready for book 3!!

‘The Kuřim Case: A Terrifying True Story of Child Abuse, Cults & Cannibalism’ .
In May of 2007, in a small, quiet town in the South Moravia region of the Czech Republic, a technical glitch – a simple, accidental crossing of signals – revealed just such a case, and an entire nation watched transfixed with horror as the grisly extent of the perversion of the maternal instinct was revealed. Two small brothers named Jakub and Ondrej, nine and seven years old respectively, were revealed to have suffered confinement, mutilation, psychological brutality, and cannibalism at the hands of several people – foremost among them ‘their own mother and her sister’.
The ensuing investigation and trial captivated the country as a web of secrecy and manipulation was laid bare. That entire nation’s attention was transfixed as the disappearance of a teenage girl revealed a daring case of concealed identity and international intrigue, culminating in a thousand-mile chase in the depths of a Scandinavian winter.
The allegations that were levelled would keep any parent of a young child awake at night. A secretive cult operating in close proximity to children: stealing, forging medical records, and possibly attempting to create a new messiah was in full swing. All the while its members appeared, on the surface, to be models of excellent caregivers.
This is the story of the infamous ‘Kuřim Case’, an investigation that engrossed the public and media of a whole country for two years. It is a story of intense cruelty and sadism, inflicted on the most vulnerable members of society.
If you are especially sensitive to accounts of the suffering of children, you may find it advisable not to read any farther.
If, however, you seek to understand the darker side of human nature by coming face to face with it, then this book is written for you. Scroll up and click on the ‘Buy Now’ button at the top of this page, and begin looking into the remarkable story behind ‘The Kuřim Case’.

I purchased this audiobook.
I was scrolling through true-crime audiobooks when I saw this book, which I had never heard of, and I jumped right in. Anytime I find a case I haven’t discovered or heard of before, I am ecstatic. After I started this book, I was definitely hit with the fact that this is NOT like any other book. The fact that there was cannibalism by family members was not expected. The abuse the children suffered was horrible, but that is just the beginning of this crazy story. So many times I was like This can’t be real?? I mean, how is this real!!
This is a case that will stick with me for a long time.
Ryan Green is a true crime author in his late thirties. He lives in Herefordshire, England with his wife, three children, and two dogs. Outside of writing and spending time with his family, Ryan enjoys walking, reading and windsurfing.
Ryan is fascinated with History, Psychology and True Crime. In 2015, he finally started researching and writing his own work and at the end of the year, he released his first book on Britain’s most notorious serial killer, Harold Shipman.
He has since written several books on lesser-known subjects, and taken the unique approach of writing from the killer’s perspective. He narrates some of the most chilling scenes you’ll encounter in the True Crime genre.
“Ryan Green is an incredible storyteller…he doesn’t just tell the story, he allows you to be part of it.” ~Blackbird
In 1974, Dennis Lynn Rader stalked and murdered a family of four in Wichita, Kansas. Since adolescence, he had read about serial killers and imagined becoming one. Soon after killing the family, he murdered a young woman and then another, until he had ten victims. He named himself “B.T.K.” (bind, torture, kill) and wrote notes that terrorized the city. He remained on the loose for thirty years. No one who knew him guessed his dark secret. He nearly got away with his crimes, but in 2004, he began to play risky games with the police. He made a mistake. When he was arrested, Rader’s family, friends, and coworkers were shocked to discover that B.T.K. had been among them, going to work, raising his children, and acting normal. This case stands out both for the brutal treatment of victims and for the ordinary public face that Rader, a church council president, had shown to the outside world. Through jailhouse visits, telephone calls, and written correspondence, Katherine Ramsland worked with Rader himself to analyze the layers of his psyche. Using his drawings, letters, interviews, and Rader’s unique codes, she presents in meticulous detail the childhood roots and development of one man’s motivation to stalk, torture, and kill. She reveals aspects of the dark motivations of this most famous of living serial killers that have never before been revealed. In this book Katherine Ramsland presents an intelligent, original, and rare glimpse into the making of a serial killer and the potential darkness that lives next door.

I purchased this book.
I am a huge true crime junkie. I always buy the books this author puts out. She always has connections to the authors or does extensive due diligence on the subject matter.
BTK is a terrifying person in that he hid his dark side for so long between his crimes. I found the information informative, and for the true crime junkie like me, I did like all the extra information I was unaware of before reading.
I’ve loved books since I was 3, and the library was a highlight of my childhood. I’ve been fortunate to be able to find great joy in what others have written and sometimes to give this to readers. I follow my own muse, because it leads me on interesting adventures. I began my writing career with “Prism of the Night: A Biography of Anne Rice.” I had a bestseller with “The Vampire Companion.” Since then, I’ve published 69 books and over 2,500 articles, reviews and short stories. I have also been an executive producer for “Murder House Flip” and “BTK: Confession of a Serial Killer.” From ghosts to vampires to serial killers, I have taken on a variety of dark subjects, mostly in crime and forensics. I hold graduate degrees in forensic psychology, clinical psychology, criminal justice, creative writing and philosophy. Currently, I teach forensic psychology and criminal justice at DeSales University. My books include “I Scream Man,” “How to Catch a Killer”, “Confession of a Serial Killer”, “The Forensic Psychology of Criminal Minds”, “The Mind of a Murderer”, “The Human Predator: A Historical Chronicle of Serial Murder and Forensic Investigation”, “Inside the Minds of Serial Killers”, “Inside the Minds of Sexual Predators”, and “Inside the Minds of Mass Murderers”. My background in forensic studies positioned me to assist former FBI profiler John Douglas on his book, “The Cases that Haunt Us”, and to co-write a book with former FBI profiler, Gregg McCrary, “The Unknown Darkness”, as well as “Spree Killers” with Mark Safarik, “The Real Life of a Forensic Scientist” with Henry C. Lee, and “A Voice for the Dead” with James Starrs. I speak internationally about forensic psychology, forensic science, and serial murder, and has appeared on numerous documentaries, as well as such programs as The Today Show, 20/20, 48 Hours, NPR, Dr. Oz, Coast to Coast, Montel Williams, Larry King Live and E! True Hollywood. Currently, I’m working on a fiction series, The Nut Cracker Investigations, which features a female forensic psychologist who manages a PI agency. “I Scream Man” is the first one.
