#REVIEW #WOTRAUTHOR – In The Pursuit Of Charity by Alexandria Sure

He expected her to recognize him.
He expected her to be seduced by his charms.
He expected her to fall for him.
Expectations are a funny thing …

When his parents named him Herbert Lincoln James, they already had expectations that Linc would attend an ivy league university and go into politics. Linc didn’t. As captain of his swim team, he was expected to win the big relay to carry his swim team to the state championship for the first time in decades. Linc didn’t. Society expected him to walk past her. He couldn’t.

She expected him to see through her.
She expected him to make her into a joke.
She expected him to be cruel.
Expectations are a funny thing …

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Let me start by saying that reading the sweeter and less dirty books sometimes, is a nice change.

Now for my review. So…Linc is a professional swimmer. Athletic, good looking, has all the friends and gets all the girls. Oh and he comes from money too. Alexis on the other hand is none of those things. She plus-sized and closed off. Especially when Linc starts to show interest in her. I mean, after years of being talked down, made fun of and so on, who wouldn’t shut down and put up walls to protect their heart?

Man, did I ever feel for Alexis. Linc…at times I wanted to slap him but at the same time, I got it. These feelings were new for him. What I loved most about him was that he didn’t care about Alexis’s size. He could have stood up for her a little better – he even noticed that he made some mistakes in that department – with his mother who I loathe by the way and with his friends. Harrison. That boy drove me nuts and I wanted to punch him in the face. And his mother??? These people not being supportive of Linc and his feelings for Alexis, drove me crazy. Good job on that part, Alexandria!

As I was nearing the end of the book, I was on the edge of my seat. I was hoping and chomping at the bit for their happily ever after. Do they get it? I guess you’ll have to one-click to find out!

#NewRelease #Review – The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott

The Rich Boy

I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work – starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way.

But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world?

Only there’s so much more to him than that.
Billionaire playboy? Check.
Troubled soul? Check.
The owner of my heart, the man I’ve moved halfway across the country to be with, who’s laying the world at my feet in order to convince me to never leave? Check. Check. Check.

But nobody does complicated like the one percent.

This is not your everyday rags-to-riches, knight-in-shining armor whisking the poor girl off her feet kind of story. No, this is much messier.

Goodreads

I received a copy of this book from the author.

I enjoyed reading Alice and Beck book. Alice was spunky and thought quick on her feet. Beck was determined to get what he wanted and keep it and that was Alice.

Alice and Beck meet in the bar where she is a waitress and he is a bus boy. Seeing this relationship blossom was great. He told her from jump that she was going to be his wife. They start hanging out getting to know each other when Beck is called back home because of the death of his father.

Alice decides to follow Beck to Colorado and man does her world get turned upside down. Beck and his family are nothing like hers. His family try to get her to fit in. you know new clothes, new hair, makeup and grandma even sends her to a social event in her place. OH boy did that backfire on grandma. Alice has to deal with a lot between both his family and the public in general.

Alice does it all with grace and sass. She doesn’t let people walk all over her no matter who they are. The instant connection that Alice and Beck have was refreshing and I did enjoy watching their relationship grow despite all the roadblocks.

A few of my favorites:

“There are going to be people who don’t like me. And there are certainly going to be people who don’t like us together. But the thing is, they don’t matter. It’s up to you and me to decide what’s best for us.”

One of these days, when he yet again fails to warn me about something, I’m going to slap the boy right upside his handsome face. Or not so accidentally kick him in his sleep.

“I haven’t joined a cult,” I say. “But I have discovered what a salad fork is. Useful information, that.”

I don’t think any relationship worth having is always going to be easy. We’re two different people with our own thoughts and feelings. The fact that we also come from two very different worlds just adds to the challenge.”

A thing Mom once told me that seems pertinent is this: even heroes fuck up sometimes. At the end of the day, they too are only human.”

#REVIEW #WOTRAuthor – Uppercase (The F*cked Series, #1) by RK Gleason

There have been countless theories about how to survive a zombie outbreak. All of them based on impossibilities and conjecture turned into fantasies and science fiction. No one truly needed to prepare themselves, because no one believed it could ever really happen…

But now, Dave and Pam Richter are trapped in the impossible.

Forced to race against the spread of a rabid plague from a source no one suspected, and those ordered to contain and destroy it.

Playing dead has taken on a chilling new meaning.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

I’m usually a romance girl. It’s been my genre and go-to ever since I was a teen sneaking those “dirty” Harlequin romance books when my parents weren’t looking. Well sometimes, we need a break and a change from what we’re normally used to.

Besides romance books, I LOVE horror movies but I don’t usually read horror novels. I’ve read a few and have loved them but if you put a romance and a horror in front of me, I would probably always grab the romance.

Well I am glad that I gave this little story a chance!

Pam and Dave are hand’s down two of the best characters I have ever read. Their banter back and forth – they’ve been married for years – is hilarious. But while this little story is jam packed with humor, there’s also a serious side to it as well. I went into this story completely blind. I didn’t read the blurb ahead of time and I’m glad I decided to go that route!

This is book 1 to the F*cked Series and I already picked up book 2. I can’t wait to see what else happens to Pam, Dave and their kids while the world is…uh…dealing with the same unusual changes.

P.S. The texting scenes in this book had me dying. RK included the auto correct fails and it was beyond epic!

#CoverReveal #BonesTrilogy #RomanticSuspense #PartOfASeries -Genesis by: Paige P. Horne

With the smell of moonshine still drifting in the air, me and Johnny turn around to watch the house and the man inside burn up.

A noise from behind causes us to look back, revealing a girl with hot pink socks, black boots and wide, curious eyes.

She wasn’t supposed to be there.
She wasn’t supposed to witness what me and Johnny did that day.

The truth is, I fell for Bexley Walker the moment she promised she’d never tell.

But our time together was short lived for I am who I’ve always been. A man on the wrong side of the law. I thought I could change for her, but we can’t outrun the truth that lies within us.

I am my father’s son. Born to be a criminal.
Now, because of me, we’re both in danger. Held against our will. Tied and locked in a room together, we are forced to relive the love we once shared.

I received this book from the author.

First up, thank you Kylie for all the Jane Austen references.  It made my heart happy especially the Pride and Prejudice ones. #MrDarcyIsMyBookBoyfriend

Ok Alice and Beck.  Alice is the waitress and Beck is the busboy.  Seems pretty typical of a set up right?  Two employees hit it off and start to flirt and spend time together right?? Alice is happy living life the way she is ..simple and easy.  Beck appears all broody and with mystery, but she is intrigued.  When he has to leave, she is a bit saddened by his departure.  I mean they were getting married and all 😊  Alice likes Beck for Beck.

When Alice goes to Colorado and is thrown into this new Beck, she is overwhelmed.  She is not the kind of girl that is expected to be with Beck.  She has issues with all his money and everything that goes with it.  Beck is THE GUY everyone wants.  Alice is not at all ready for all that drama.

I liked the story a lot.  The comedy was perfectly snarky, but the chemistry was great.  I loved the slow burn romance that was in the story.  We knew Alice and Beck had chemistry but seeing them slowly fall was amazing to read.

#AuthorSpotlight #MOA #RoyalReaders – Lea Winkelman

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Lea Winkelman, single mom of two boys. Living in the Midwest. Works full time, and writes as a part time job. I enjoy writing poetry. To me it’s a short story in simple quick words. It’s not like what you would think of when you say poetry. I do write stories as well. I have a few out, with more coming.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Any sugary food, a nice glass of cold koolaid. Snacky food. Chips, popcorn, and Pandora in the background

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting new authors, meeting fans new and old. Getting to talk about my work.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Edgar Allan Poe , Shakespeare, Maya Angelo to start. Then there’s , JR Tolken, Hemmingway, Stephen King, and so many more.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I don’t have a set schedule as my work one varies, as well as my kids being home. I try to balance life and writing. So I’m not taking away from the boys

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Seeing that first book in paperback. Actually holding it and smelling it. To see what I wrote on paper, to be in an actual book people read

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

Unfortunately no, I lost most my collection when I moved out. I’m still trying to grow it back.

Michel Prince

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

Michel Prince, USA Today Best Selling author from the midwest that believes in happy endings and that Love doesn’t color inside the lines.

When you are writing, what are some go to’s that you needs? IE Foods to eat, noise level, place to sit.

Lately my recliner, though in the summer I do like sitting on my deck. Music, lots of music. I have a playlist I’m always adding to that has a variety of songs. Rock, country, opera… I like to mix it up.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Readers. Meeting them in person, whether they’ve read your books or have no clue who you are, there is always a good conversation.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Judy Blume. I’ve lucked out and met quite a few of my hero authors, she’s still illusive to me. That being said I really suck as a stalker so it could be my fault.

When you are writing, do you have a consistent schedule where you write every day at the same time or are you a sit and go on different days to get it done kinda person?

I wish. I write in bursts. With the day job I look for days off to binge and sprint all day.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Jodie Bivens slapping a sheet of notebook paper in front of me and saying “these are what I have I need the rest.” I was a pretty new author and, much like I still am, I’m always shocked people spend their valuable time and money on my creations.

Do you have a book that is your most prized possession? What is it and why is it so amazing?

I have one signed by the Warden, J.R. Ward, another signed by Darynda Jones and finally an old copy I may or may not have stolen from my high school A Separate Peace. All wonderful books.

#Review #ShortStory #PartofaSeries Resolution Baby Batter (Resolution Pact) by Frankie Love

Let’s get a bun in her oven.

I’m a cop with a sweet tooth and Dolly’s the treat I’m craving.

She’s finally ended things with her deadbeat boyfriend and I’m not missing the chance to make her mine.

Dolly’s the owner of my favorite donut shop and the woman with the best Bavarian cream in the city.

Damn, I love her jelly filling, her chocolate frosting, her perfect donut hole.

She may know how to make a mean old fashioned, but I know how to whip up baby batter that will get her maple glazed.

It’s a new year, and I’m ready to do more than get a bun in her oven.

I’ll be her baby daddy and her dream come true.

Dune only wants one thing this girl who makes delicious donuts. He stops at her shop everyday and its a new year so he’s going to let her know how he feels even though she has a boyfriend he doesn’t care he needs to get it off his chest. Dolly isn’t like the rest of her friends she’s ready to settle down get married and have a baby, so when she finally tells her boyfriend that she wanted to make this year hers and have a baby and marriage he wasn’t in to that so they broke up. Heartbroken Dolly goes and bakes it makes her feel better and she spots Dune at the front door. Will these two make the new year theirs and make something sweeter then donuts or will they get their donuts burnt? This was a good story all the donut puns are a little too much lol but it was a great short read

Review by Twinsie Dee

Frankie Love writes filthy-sweet stories about bad boys and mountain men. As a thirty-something mom to six who is ridiculously in love with her own bearded hottie, she believes in love-at-first-sight and happily-ever-afters. She also believes in the power of a quickie.

Get ready to fall in love … you deserve it!
