#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlight – AJ Renee

A.J. Renee

Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

AJ Renee. Military wife, mother, daughter, sister… I like long walks on the beach, beer, wine, scotch, and cosmos. I consider myself a Florida girl since I lived there the longest time. I’ve never officially used my college degrees in the 12+ years I’ve had them. I’m a nerd, goofball, and loyal to a fault. I’m also an open book so if you’re curious about something feel free to ask.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

I work the best at my desk. I drink hot tea while I write and try to avoid the snacks. Writing is awful for my waistline.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting everyone! I do get a little shy and feel awkward but it’s because I don’t always know what to say or do.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

Kathleen Brooks

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Meeting and hanging out with readers.

#NewRelease #MM #Thriller #TriggerWarnings – Love Kills: Criminal Delights – Serial Killers by Michael Mandrake

Love Kills - Criminal Delights: Serial Killers

Deranged birds of a feather flock together… leaving trails of blood in their wake.

Holland has fantasies most can’t accept. When potential mates discover Holland’s bloodlust, it’s too late for them to refuse. Determined to get what he wants, Holland continues to seek a man to fulfill his deepest desire and he won’t stop at anything

Archer is inspired and aroused by the tales he’s heard from his boyfriend. Still, he’s greedy for something that pushes him over the edge. Although this might drive him and his partner apart, Archer’s dark want won’t disappear.

Clint’s love for his job has slipped for years, and he’s pondered change. These days he’s cared more about how to please his man, than the rigorous position of solving murder cases. Clint thinks his attitude will eventually get better, thus prompting him to stay aboard. Still, the constant worry of Archer finding someone new niggles at him.

Putting sketchy characters behind bars had always been Clint’s forte, but when new feelings arise, Clint’s conscience is tested. Furthermore, what will happen if Clint is forced to choose between the love of his life, his career, and his morality?

Warning: This dark romance contains themes some readers might find objectionable.

Possible Triggers: Murder, death, edgeplay, angst, gore, blood

Goodreads

Michael Mandrake pens complex characters already comfortable with their sexuality. Through these, he builds worlds not centered on romance but rather the mainstream and/or obscure plots we might encounter in everyday life and beyond. Gwyn McNamee is an attorney, writer, wife, and mother (to one human baby and two fur babies). Originally from the Midwest, Gwyn relocated to her husband’s home town of Las Vegas in 2015 and is enjoying her respite from the cold and snow. Gwyn has been writing down her crazy stories and ideas for years and finally decided to share them with the world. She loves to write stories with a bit of suspense and action mingled with romance and heat.

When she isn’t either writing or voraciously devouring any books she can get her hands on, Gwyn is busy adding to her tattoo collection, golfing, and stirring up trouble with her perfect mix of sweetness and sarcasm (usually while wearing heels).

Gwyn is the author of The Hawke Family series, The Slip Series, The Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd (written as her alter-ego, DP Payne), and several stand-alone novels.

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlights – Sandra Sookoo

Sandra Sookoo
Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

My name is Sandra Sookoo, and I’ve written 80+ books in romance and romantic suspense. I’m also the author of the popular Thieves of the Ton series as well as the Lords of the Night series. Here’s my bio: Sandra Sookoo is a USA Today bestselling author who firmly believes every person deserves acceptance and a happy ending. Most days you can find her creating scandal and mischief in the Regency-era, serendipity and happenstance in Victorian America or snarky, sweet humor in the contemporary world. Most recently she’s moved into infusing her books with mystery and intrigue. Reading is a lot like eating fine chocolates—you can’t just have one. Good thing books don’t have calories!

When she’s not wearing out computer keyboards, Sandra spends time with her real life Prince Charming in central Indiana where she’s been known to goof off and make moments count because the key to life is laughter. A Disney fan since the age of ten, when her soul gets bogged down and her imagination flags, a trip to Walt Disney World is in order. Nothing fuels her dreams more than the land of eternal happy endings, hope and love stories.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

My favorite place to write is my office. It’s full of Disney stuff, Doctor Who stuff and posters of my favorite book covers, as well as books. I’m more productive in there than anywhere else. As for food? I really don’t eat while writing, which is the great thing about writing–your hands are busy so you can’t stuff your face LOL I do, however, pause for lunch.

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Meeting old readers and making new ones.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

That’s like picking a favorite book LOL

What author would you love to write with?

I’m not really an author who writes in tandem with anyone else. Although, I did it for a time when I wrote erotic Regency. It was fun. Would I do a project with a fellow author again? Maybe, if the project was right and I got along well with the author 🙂

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

]Hitting the USA Today bestseller list in 2017. Challenging myself as a writer with different series that stretch and strengthen my skills. Working with my husband on cover art (he’s the artist behind many of my covers)

Heart's Desire (Lords of Chance, #2)

Lady Clarissa has decided to live life on her terms. After the end of a ten-year betrothal, she wants nothing to do with marriage or the men of the ton. Least of all her friend’s brother, the very charming Lord Markham, or Hearts, as many ladies call the oh-so-handsome earl.

Markham pursues relationships with no ties that bind. Acting the rake leaves everyone satisfied…until he overhears a wager that could lead to Clarissa’s ruin. He can’t help but step in and claim she’s his intended bride.

Clarissa is appalled. She did not need to be saved. Reluctantly, she agrees to the fake courtship, if only to experience what the rakish Markham can offer. But when lust becomes love, Clarissa must make up her own terms and bet it all on Hearts.

Wendy writes Historical Romance with a touch of intrigue & suspense. Her debut series, a trilogy about three Ladies who refuse to play by society’s rules, was released by Entangled Scandalous in 2015. Her first indie, Her Duke at Daybreak, finaled in Romance Writers of America®’s RITA® contest.

Wendy was born a Jersey Girl, though most of her extended family lives in Maine. #WOTR19 #NewRelease #Review – Sands of Time by H. D’Agostino

Kaitlyn Hughes always wanted to run her own bakery. After attending culinary school in Paris, she began working under one of the best chefs in the business and fell in love. Life was perfect, or so she thought.
When her parents ask her to come home for the holidays, she decides to take a much-deserved vacation with support and encouragement of her boss.
Five years away does something to you. It messes with your memory and makes you believe that you don’t miss the things that you do. You don’t realize it until it’s too late.
When Kaitlyn unexpectedly runs into Eli Baker, the one she left behind, all bets are off. Promises are forgotten. What ifs roar to life, and what seemed like a dream soon becomes a nightmare.
Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? How much are you willing to give up for true love?

***Home for the Holidays is included in this book. This is the continuation of Eli and Kaitlyn’s story.***

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh Eli!!  I have waited and waited for your book.  I loved getting to see the man whore FINALLY getting his girl.  Home for the Holidays was just a tease novella for me.

Kait and Eli have been through so much in the novella and now, the when the story picks up in this book, it just gets even harder for their HEA.  So many issues they have to deal with and overcome.

Kait and Eli need to rediscover who they once were and who they are now plus deal with the issues of her leaving and marrying another man.  Eli needs to tell Kait the truth about the man he was when she wasn’t around because those actions cause issue for them in the novel.

Eli makes huge grand gestures to prove to Kait he is the one for her and she is the one for him They both need to see the other for who the are and what they need to do to finally secure their happy life.

The epilogue made my heart happy. We get some loose ends tied up and more of the HEA is told.  It was a really sweet 2nd or even 3rd chance love story between soul mates.

Shattered by Heather D'Agostino

Ever wonder what it’s like to have it all? Leah Carmichael didn’t. She had the world at her fingertips in the form of a dream. Everything thing she could ever want was in her grasp.

At what cost are you willing to have this life? Would you give up the life you have to pursue it? Your family? Friends? What about the one who holds your heart?

What if something comes along and takes it all away? Would you survive the devastation? What happens when you realize you gave up everything you had to have it all taken away in a moment? Will it leave you broken? Or will it shatter you?

Goodreads

I received this complementary copy from the author .

WOW!! and UGH!! The anxiety I felt over this couple was pretty thick and intense. Leah and Nick were childhood sweethearts. Nick gave up alot of option in his life to stay and be with Leah in hopes of them being together forever. Leah on the other hand, ran the first chance she had to train for the US Olympic team. Do you blame her? NO but she didnt think to talk to Nick before making the choices. She presumed her would just follow her…guess what? He didn’t.

Fast Forward 5 years and Leah’s life is a mess. She isn’t an Olympic athlete anymore, her mom is sick and she is back home….afraid of seeing HIM!! Well lemme tell ya when they see each other the chemistry was THICK and sizzling. I was glad Nick and Leah didn’t fight the attraction very long but sad that Leah kept pushing the amazing man away when she needed to lean on him during some tragedy….Sigh…have I mentioned Nick IS the perfect ALPHA MALE!!??

So all is going well when Nick gets the chance to move and make something big for THEM but all Leah sees is he is leaving her. I have to admit I loved her best friend Avery calling her out abouthow bad it sucks to be left behind…Karma right? Well Leah is ready to work on it with Nick and she ………………………………………oh snap you think I am gonna tell??? Heck no!! You gotta read this lettle gem yourself!! Trust me you will be a mess after.

#IAE19 #AuthorSpotlights – Kenzie Michales

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, sitting
Tell us your name and then a bit about yourself.

I’m Kenzie Michaels, author of ten steamy novels and karaoke addict:) I’m also a full-time wife, mom, and grandma, and am about to acquire a daughter-in-law next year, courtesy of my oldest son popping the Big Question Feb 15th. We live in the southwest corner of Indiana, and I’m also in the process of clearing out the house next door to us and turning it into my private library/office.

Where is your favorite place to write and what food must be present?

Right now, my favorite place is at my desk, and the muse likes Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. When those aren’t available, the Mint Oreos are a good substitute!

What are you favorite things about attending signings?

Definitely meeting readers! I also like to network with other authors, to swap promotional ideas and learn of new signing opportunities. Face it; we’re all here to help each other.

What author would you love to meet (Who is your unicorn author)?

I’d love to meet Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, and Lavryl Spencer. I read these ladies when in my twenties, and still have their books. I’d also love to meet Judy Blume, whom I read as a teenager, which inspired me to write about social issues.

What is your favorite memory so far as an author?

Hands down, my favorite memory is when I ventured out to promote my 1st book. I’d set up at a local craft fair, and a woman bought one. I saw her the next day, and she told me she’d begun reading it, and could hardly wait to get back to it. Day #3, she made a beeline for my table, slapped her hands down, and exclaimed, “I loved it! Stayed up too late to finish it, but I couldn’t put it down. When’s your next one coming out?” I stammered, “Ummm….when I get a publisher?” Then gave her a one-page ‘sneak peek’ of #2. I’ve never been back to that venue since publishing the others, so I have no idea if she even knows about the others.

#WOTR19 #ThrowbackReview – Persuading Tomorrow by Jennifer Laslie

Persuading Tomorrow

When the unimaginable happens and Jordan loses her best friend on the night she had planned to tell him her feelings, it leaves her to wonder if she’s the guilty party, but her memories of that night are fuzzy. In an attempt to leave her past and the hateful stares of her peers behind, she moves across the country to live with her mother in Esterwilde, Pennsylvania. It’s a small close-knit town, but there no one should know about her past, or so she thought.

When Zyler runs into the new girl in town he can’t help but feel a connection, but he also knows her past harbors a horrible secret. He’s heard the rumors, but doesn’t believe them. Seeing Jordan in pain kills him and all he wants to do is take it away.

Jordan soon realizes that no matter what she does she’s not going to be able to outrun her past. Can Zyler show her that despite the hate and ignorance in the world that life is still worth living? Will she ever figure out the truth about the night that took away her best friend?

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

This book is about the pain that Jordan is dealing with after the death of her best friend. She feels the guilt and loss of him plus blames herself for his death after a night of partying. She can’t take it and so she moves across country to stay with her mom. Between the guilt, depression and whispers from the kids at her school she needed a fresh start.

Poor Jordan can’t catch a break because once she shows up at her new school it seems they too know her secrets. However, one boy, Zyler, doesn’t care and wants to get to know the new girl no matter what.

I think the book does a good job with the emotions Jordan is dealing with and in scene really delves into why teens would think death is easier than life. I loved Zyler and his positive force in Jordan’s life. I also loved that even though he has major troubles he is willing to always remain optimistic in life. He is kinda the ying to her yang.

The books has a villain we totally hate but it also shows the “other side” of the bully. The girl’s why’s for her horrible treatment of Jordan. We can see how teenagers are so focused on themselves to see what other people maybe dealing with.

I liked the little mystery thrown into the book and there is a cliffy at the end but I am a fan of cliffys so it doesn’t make me mad. It makes me wanna know what happens to the Jordan and Zyler.

Jennifer Laslie is a crazy cat lady who lives in Louisville, KY with her wonderful husband and two children. When she’s not thinking about cheesecake or cats, she can be found in the bookstore in the Young Adult section, coffee in hand.
