#Fantasy #Twinsiefortheday – House of Beating Wings by Olivia Wildenstein

Free the crows, Fallon, and they will make you queen.

Until an oracle predicted my regal future, I’d never imagined myself rising above the curve of my round ears. After all, I was the magicless halfling loved by beasts but loathed by every pure-blooded faerie at court. Well… by all but one.

Dante Regio, prince of Luce, had owned my heart since he gave me my first kiss. If gathering a slew of iron relics could help me overthrow the current monarch and crown his brother to rule at my side, then treasure hunting I’d go.

If only the oracle had warned me what winged demon I was releasing into the world.

And that I’d become this demon’s obsession.

Fans of Sarah J. Maas and Mary E. Pearson will devour this epic fantasy romance full of deceit, betrayal, and false loves that could swallow a person whole.

I received this book for an review.

Hi everyone! I stumbled upon this little gem and thought I would share my thoughts. You know those
wonderful Greek stories where people interpret prophecy the wrong way due to their own interests?
Yeah, this story follows those lines and is another warning to those who believe in prophecies.
Fallon is the main character in this story and is young and reckless. She loves a prince despite being a
social outcast and he seems to care for her as well. Even now I’m not sure of his level of feelings and I
have questions! Fallon’s grandmother tries to protect her the best that she can but Fallon does not
make it easy. When Fallon is told that she is part of a prophecy she believes that it will help her get to be
with her prince and live happily ever after. Life, however, is not that simple and things go sideways fast
as Fallon learns the truth about her kingdom’s past and how a previous war was ended.
The world building is great and I was drawn into the society and aspects of Fallon’s life. As the prophecy
unfolds so does more of Fallon’s world and truths that will change everything. Magic, family betrayals,
racial discriminations, bitter rivalry, and the fate of an entire race weave together in a tapestry of broken
hearts and innocence lost. Fallon’s journey of innocent love through revelations that slowly change
every belief that she has leaves you wondering if she could possible remain even close to the person
that she was.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it for anyone 13+ years. There is a scene between Fallon and
the prince where they come together but there are zero adult details. This is more focused on fantasy
than romantic details and is excellent for that choice. Book 2 recently released and I will be checking
that out to see the aftermath of the prophecy and how Fallon copes with the fallout.

Review by Brandy

I received this book for an honest review.

Hey everyone, I hope you are doing well. I got distracted by the description of this new release and
thought I would give it a try. I’m here to tell you all about it.
Onya is a mix of resilient and naïve as hell. She’s had a bit of a rough time growing up but still has
an independent streak a mile wide that helps keep her going when times get even tougher. I
struggled just a smidge with how naïve she is when her home life is not presented as the greatest.
Usually, it seems when people have a rough home life, they have a better sense of self preservation.
You know those moments when you want to yell at a character in a book? I had a few of those with
Onya. Why girl? why? I almost started to wonder if she had a death wish for a moment. Onya is
pretty smart though and sees through most of the lies that other girls take almost as gospel and
stands up for herself which gets her into a lot of trouble with those in charge. She’s not willing to just
go along with what they want her to do which leads to some serious consequences.
The world building is good, and you learn some about their gods and some things about their
culture. It seems to be a Norse religion-based society but not exactly Viking. I am hopeful that if
there is a sequel, we will get more information to help expand on what this book shows us.
For the most part I felt this was a pretty good book. It is what I would call mature PG13 up until about
3/4 of the way through and then you get more adult content but it’s not extremely explicit either. So, if
that’s what you are looking for you are going to be a bit disappointed.

Review by Brandy

I received this book for an honest review.

This book is a lot more than what I thought it was going to be based off the description. It has layers of
different things mixed in for a complex teenage adventure. It has a dash of a twist on the Frankenstein
story, a dash of supernatural magic, and a dash of a few other things all mixed in to make an intriguing
story.
With the loss of his mother Faust has become the one taking on most of the responsibilities at home.
While the description calls him a necromancer but I’m not sure that is exactly the right word for what he
does. He has more care for ghosts than others in his world and it puts him at odds with the way others
think. His frustration with is situation at home is at a boiling point when he gets a letter from his
grandfather asking him to visit to talk about something important.
Responding to that letter brings Faust right into the middle of trouble. Upper class and lower class are
starting to clash where his grandfather lives bringing danger and mysteries into Faust’s life. He finds out
that his grandfather is in trouble because he is planning to do something that will change their entire
society if it actually works and Faust doesn’t know what to do about it. Many people are against his
grandfather for various reasons causing Faust to make a choice: his family or what is right.
I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. From the description I expected a lot more horror
but it is a complex and well thought out storyline that while involving death and ghosts is not a horror
story. There is some world building but it doesn’t dominate the story so I hope to see more to this series
as I believe this is a complex world that could give us a lot of interesting characters. I would like to say I
recommend ages 13 and up but I’m thinking unless they are comfortable with ghosts and death we may
want to go with ages 15 and up.

#PNR #TwinsieForTheDay – Vampire Witch by Eileen Sheehan

For an up and coming witch, Casey Merker, escaping from her wicked mutant-vampire mother and even more wicked newly wedded vampire prince could never have been accomplished without the aid of two centuries old vampire brothers,, Geo and Luthias. Amidst the running, fighting and avoiding of the dangers and drama that arose during her escape, the brothers each declared his love for Casey. Now Casey must choose.

Reader’s Favorite gave it 5 stars and said this about it:
Reviewed by Stephanie Chapman for Readers’ Favorite

Eileen Sheehan’s Vampire Witch Trilogy: Vampire Witch (Book One) is set fifty years after a nuclear war created mutants and the New World Order became tyrannical. After Casey’s mother died in an ambush, her grandparents took her to a safe house. Fifteen years had passed since that day and Casey encountered Geo, who told her he had a letter for her from her mother. Casey learned that her mother Sybil was still alive and that her grandparents were aware the entire time. She packed a backpack and found Geo waiting for her. Together, they traveled by night to avoid detection. Geo and Casey became infatuated with each other. However, Casey learned that Geo did not tell her that her mother had been transformed into a vampire mutant and that she had arranged for Casey to marry the vampire Prince Vogel. Casey realized she may have made the worst mistake of her life.

Eileen Sheehan’s vivid depiction of a post-apocalyptic world illustrates how dire situations can become. Casey’s recollection of her mother dying by gunfire was horrifying. Casey’s initial mistrust of Geo was relatable. If some smelly, dirty man approached me it could be alarming. Sybil’s reaction to Casey was strange. Since she was a mutated vampire, I doubted she mothered Casey. The supporting characters were well-developed and their importance builds throughout the story. It shocked me to learn that Geo was more than just a messenger. The unpredictable plot took several twists and kept me hooked until the end. I look forward to reading more in the sequel. I recommend Vampire Witch Trilogy to readers who like dystopian stories with vampires, mutants, and rebel survival.

I received this book for an honest review.

Hi everyone we have a bit of a surprise here. It is a fast paced dystopian, vampire romance. There is a mix of a lot of different things going on here and with romance and brutality in a violent world.

Casey grows up sheltered by her grandparents after the death of her mother by a tyrant that she was working to build a rebellion against. Her grandparents raised her far from towns in an effort to keep her safe but due to a major war the ecosystem is a wreck and there is radiation that has caused mutations. The interesting thing is that this story is not as desolate as most and there is still technology and the world wide web. The problem is the people in charge and the way they control people.

Casey’s world changes when she finds out her mother is still alive and well living underground and in charge of a group of people. She is lured into leaving her grandparents to go see her mother and things go pretty sideways for her from there. She finds out that not only are vampires real but there are also vampire mutants. Casey’s mom is now a vampire mutant and as a ruler sees her daughter as a pawn to secure an alliance with a full vampire clan.

The brutal and violating things that Casey goes through in her mom’s place is a bit sudden and shocking. After a rollercoaster of events Casey learns some truths that sends her world rocking again. She is forced to make some choices that not everyone is going to like.

In a lot of ways this storyline is very believable as she is a young girl with no real experience with the wide world. I am hoping that there will be more world building in the next book. I am curious about this world but we are not given a lot of details. I definitely recommend this for 21+ ages as there are adult situations some mixed with brutality. It is a good book just take into consideration there might be a bit of trigger for some.

Sitting at her antique rolltop desk in her home in upstate New York, Internationally Published and Award Winning author, Eileen Sheehan, writes steamy romance thrillers for the mature adult with a sexy male and strong female. The majority of her novels are paranormal, but some are just plain novels about people in love. As the years progressed, so did her writing style. Although she still includes romance and has a happily ever after ending, her stories tend to have more mystery, thrills, and horror in them.

She makes it a point to write a novel length that will allow the busy readers to be able to sit down in an evening (no more than two) and be taken on a journey that was created by her active imagination without having a week go by before they gets to the end of the story.

An incurable romantic, she has a love affair with at least one of her characters… one book at a time. She hopes the same thing happens to you.

If you want to see more quality writings at a reasonable price, please support her efforts by leaving a review.

#historical #fantasy #twinsiefortheday- Baba Yaga Mask by Kris Spisak

When their Ukrainian grandmother is lost on a trans-Atlantic Flight, two sisters are swept into a quest across eastern Europe to find the woman who had always told more tales than truths.

From Poland to Slovakia to Hungary and beyond, Larissa and Ira navigate the steps of Ukrainian folk dance, the cliff-side paths of Slovak Paradise National Park, and the stark realities of war, folktales, and feminism, all for the sake of chasing who they’re starting to believe is a true Baba Yaga. Understanding their family’s roots has never been more clear.

The setting’s mythic properties drift like ghosts in the humid air, hinting of the folktales the sisters whisper like codes of bravery. The nesting dolls they discover reveal how each woman becomes stronger when tucked one, within another, within another—forgetting lies and truths to seize upon history, love, and the familial traditions that have shaped them into who they are together.

I received this book.

Hi everyone I’m here with an audio book review this time around and I listened to this through a new
site that I have never used before. In case anyone is wondering I listened to it through audiobooks.com
and the sound quality was excellent. It does encourage you to use their app but I was able to listen to it
through their website.
This story is about Larissa and Ira and how they go to from Poland to Slovakia to Hungary to search for
their missing grandmother. The narrator is good and does a decent job of letting you know which
character is speaking and keeps the listener from getting confused. The story jumps back and forth
between the story of the search for their grandmother and their grandmother’s story of her life during
the war and how she survived.
If you like a lot of details in your stories you will like this one. The author is very good with details and
gives a good picture of different scenes in the book. I will be honest I was more drawn to the story of
their grandmother’s life during the war than the search for her when she goes missing. Larissa and Ira
have their own bit of adventure during their search but some of it just didn’t draw me in as much as the
other side of the story.
There is nothing supernatural in this story but there is a solid story about family traditions and how they
can bind a family and all its generations together. I recommend this story for older teen and up.

Eli has a chance to break away from his family, and their Party Planning business, and his overbearing Mother. He’s moved to a new State, to start a new branch. Bit what he’s trying to do is start his own specifically tailored company focused on Littles. Eli is a Little, but it’s buried very deeply, t, someone in his past ruined it for him. Willem the company accountant has buried his Daddy side, he didn’t think at his age he’s find another Little of his own, until he met Eli. I loved how protective of Eli, Willem was. Together they found out, it’s never too late.

Hello, and welcome to my site. I’m Dakota, an author of erotic romance (think 50 Shades of Gray – but better) and paranormal erotica. And what exactly does that mean? Well, since I’ve always marched to the beat of different drum: it means that I get to take my unique life experiences – like putting around in the garage with my dad, or driving a train when I was ten, to create worlds where the heroines aren’t necessarily June Clever, but are strong independent women who may stand on their own two feet, but long to submit to the right man. Whether it’s two friends who realize there is more than friendship between them or the sexy alien who captures his unwilling slave’s heart, sparks fly between them. My imagination has no bounds or at least none I’ve found yet!

Great MC Series, Tissues Needed!

I am so happy that this box set was put together. I love reading a series all together. I have to say, I am a little in love with all these big bad bikers. Baldy and Hollywood are my favorites. You will need tissues when reading this book. I laughed, I gasped, and I cried. So many emotions. Each one of these girls have been through some kind of trauma. Roadkill is almost killed. Lil’ Mama has been abused, Preacher Girl was part of a cult, Lil’ Bit has major problems, and Free escaped from an abusive ex. The Steel MC’s are all about saving women from traumatic situations. I can not wait for more from this series. From a New Fan… Pam James.

Review by Polly

Just a little note – this book does end in a cliffhanger, so it’s a good thing book two is out!

The genre of Fantasy is not my usual go-to and wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book. Holy cow was I in for a ride! The story of Ryen Cardona (a witch) and Cash Di Marco (a vampire) had me sitting on the edge of my seat!

I absolutely love Ryen and Cash and the fact that fate has decided that these two characters need to be soul mates. But, can they?

Ryen Cardona is a witch and just not a witch, she is the Maiden of the Universal Coven and she hates vampires! A relationship is not something that is on her radar at the moment. She has a busy schedule being an acquisitions agent by day, most powerful witch by night!

Cash Di Marco is a night club mogul/playboy trying not get caught up in his family fortune and duties. Witches are not really his thing…except to maybe grab a “bite” from.

The book is packed with intrigue and romance, witches and vampires! Love, love, love the push and pull between Ryen and Cash! Their story is full of passion and pain, love and hate!

And the ending! Please….you cannot leave us hanging like that! Good thing book two is out or I would be in a total book hangover!

Growing up in rural Central Iowa, where the closest neighbor was at least 1/2 a mile down the gravel road and her brothers being 7 & 10 years older, gave Kristine plenty of opportunities to use and hone her imagination. From acting out stories with her Barbies, to pretending she was being held captive and guarded by vicious dogs (aka puppies her dad raised), she found ways to entertain herself.
Now she is living in the sprawling metropolis of Cedar Rapids, spending her days teaching high school Spanish and her nights being a wife and mother to a son and furry children. Somewhere she finds a little time here and there to write. Much to her husband’s irritation, her imagination still steals her away to daydreaming about her characters and future stories.
Kristine LOVES reading. She has been reading supernatural/paranormal genres since second grade. Her friends force her to read other genres from time to time, but she prefers a little darkness in her stories. Some of her favorite authors include L.J. Smith, Jeaniene Frost & I.T. Lucas.

This is a great short read. This book club is mostly men. They asked a few women to join. Brad is one of the guys. Ophelia is a librarian they asked to join. I love the dare they gave Brad. Such an enjoyable book! From a True Fan… Pam James

Rochelle puts an artistic spin on everything she does but there are two things she fails at miserably:
1. Cooking (seriously, she can burn water)
2. Sewing (buttons immediately fall back off)

She loves baking and makes a mean BTS (Better than Sex) cake. When in observation mode she is quiet, however, her mouth is usually open with an encouraging glass-is-half-full pun or, quite possibly, her foot.

She is a Bearcat, a Buckeye, an interior decorator, and fluent in sarcasm.

In 2008, when her youngest entered Kindergarten, she decided to get the stories out of her head. Midway through her first novel, hurricane Ike (yes, a hurricane in Ohio) rendered the laptop useless with a nine-day power outage. She didn’t give up, but continued to pursue her dream.

Every November Rochelle takes on the challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.org) where she endeavors to write 50,000 words in thirty days. You can often hear her cheering the Dayton area Wrimos (those who join her in this crazy pursuit).
