Review by Twinsie Angie

I grabbed this audiobook for free on stuff your audiobook day in August/September from Google Books.

I am a sucker for a good novella.  I am a sucker for dragon stories.  Give me both on an audio and I am SOLD!!!

This story was super quick and of course instaloveish.  If you are grabbing a novella you know this so I was ready.  I will so I did enjoy the banter initially with Cruz and Courtney.  He shows up on the planet looking for his mate that the dating agent told him would be there only to discover she is human with weird rolling things she carries around.  She is feisty and not putting up with him at all.

Courtney wakes up not in her apartment and not thrilled to discover she was kidnapped with her roller skates on.  What is a girl to do!!

The story was good. We see the reason why Cruz was looking for his mate.  We see him struggle with accepting that a human is his person.  We see Courtney falling hard for the dragon prince and not happy she will be letting him go.

I do feel a little bit let down at the end. I enjoyed the couples story but I wanted maybe one more chapter to see them together on his planet…ya know see how it all shakes out in the wash.  But I did download book 2 and am diving in.

I love writing about kick butt heroines and the steamy heroes who love them.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

The Last Smile in Sunder City has a Noir Comic feel and is a great story. I listened to the story via audiobook and as kept thinking to myself, “how did the author come up with this title?” Then all of a sudden, it hit me and it fits this story perfectly. The world building is very intricate with a lot of twisted turns. Fetch has spent a lot of his life trying to find his place. Where does he belong, what is right and wrong, which side does he belong to? At this point in his life, he carries a great burden as he feels that he is the reason all the magic is gone. He caused this and is now in a constant state of loneliness and has basically shunned all humans, like himself. However, this latest case takes him down a rabbit hole that makes him remember much of his past and sparks a hope for the future. It is magical, gritty, dark, but witty. The narrator has the perfect voice for this type of storytelling. I look forward to uncovering more of Fetch’s monsters and seeing what else lies in the shadows of Sunder City.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

I miss all the quirky Castle Cove characters! One of the best things about this series is that all three books in the series are out so I didn’t have to wait to continue the story!

Charlotte, AKA Ruby, has lots of secrets and a huge one is in town. The parents! And guess what? The parents want to use Charlotte to run a con on the people of Castle Cove. The same people that have embraced Charlotte and Paige, no questions asked and have become more of a family to these two than their parents ever have.

“Everybody has had to deal with an uncomfortable family reunion. Drunk uncles and fighting cousins. Shut-in aunts and busybody grandparents. Skeletons that trot out of the familial closet as soon as the eggnog starts flowing. But when it comes to awkward relative stories, I’ve got them all beat.”

Charlotte is warring with herself trying to figure out the best way to con her con artist parents without hurting the people she loves in Castle Cove, while trying to protect Paige the best way she knows how. There are so many twists and turns, lots of pulling of the heartstrings, but with all the same witty banter that will still make you smile and laugh. I did not expect the events leading up to the end of the story, but it makes me love all the residents of Castle Cove that much more!

I absolutely love this series!

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

I listened to this via audio. Right at the beginning, I wasn’t sure I was going to like the book because Mitzy had a man in her bed that was not Erick! Sorry for the spoiler, but you have to read the story! While out taking Pyewacket for a walk, Mitzy finds a dead body. I swear if there is a corpse, Mitzy is going to find it! The thing with this one is, the corpse is closer to the family and she is asked by Odell to look into things. Now she has to unravel tons of secrets but some are even from her Ghost-ma! ….sigh…. I love how she has wriggled her way into the town’s hearts and has become one of them. She literally went from having no family to having so much family that it will fill your heart. But let’s not forget about all the banter between Mitzy and Sheriff Erick, haha! Silas, her attorney, has really stepped up in this book. His character is almost like an uncle of sorts. He has some funny quips that made me chuckle. I love having him around. The twists in this story definitely had me yelling at Mitzy and at the same time rooting for her all the same. I am digging her sleuthing and have the third book loaded and ready to go!

Stasia is just your typical New York gal, the hustle and bustle of the streets but one thing she doesn’t enjoy is trying to be kidnapped because of who her father is. but once again that’s happened so her brother called a friend of his and has an employee Owen to go to be her bodyguard. but one thing they don’t know is that Owen is a shifter and needs to be in his wolf form just as much as his human form. but one thing Owen didn’t count on with this job security was that his wolf needed Stasia more then he would think, once he got a whiff of her fumes he knew that was his mate, but he just needed to get Stasia to see it as well. and there is no tucking his tail between his legs, she will be his it’s just a matter of when.

#Review – The Edge of Evil: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel: Good to the Last Demon, Book 2 by Robyn Peterman

What happens in Vegas, slaysin Vegas.

With a show to produce and my career as an actress on the line, I really don’t have time to die—especially violently. However, while that might not be on my agenda, it seems to be on other’s.

Awesome.

Instead of acting in my latest endeavor, I’m playing the real-life role of Reluctant Demon Who Has To Save The World—or at the very least, the hot hero.

Fine. I’m always up for a plot twist or a re-write.

Scene One— Save Abaddon from the evil clutches of the hideous Pandora.

Scene Two — Don’t die.

Scene Three — Avoid Pandora like the plague. I understand she has an evil box…

Scene Four — Do not die.

Scene Five — Possibly meet my mom, the woman who abandoned me as a baby.

Scene Six — Do Not Freaking Die.

Scene Seven — Go back to my non-deadly life and win a damn Emmy for Ass The World Turns.

Even though I’m living on the edge of evil, half insanity, half upheaval, I’m a pro and the show must go on.

As the saying goes, a bad dress rehearsal means I don’t get dismembered on opening night. Or something like that.

It’s showtime, folks.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more outrageous, I was proven wrong! Buckle up, Buttercup! Meeting Candy Vargo was the highlight of this trip! If you want something serious, just walk away now. This isn’t for you. If you want something that is going to continue to keep you on the edge of your seat to see what the next off the wall, silly, wonky, ridonkulous thing that Ms. Peterman can put these characters through, then keep on keepin’ on! This rag tag bunch seems to be loyal to a fault, Cecily is really coming into her powers and showing that she isn’t going to back down, but we still get all the follies that I enjoy so much!!!!

Lovin it!!

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

This was such an entertaining story! The author did an incredible job keeping things interesting but lighthearted with the right amount of wit, sarcasm and snark while the main character is being investigated for murder. I listened to this in audiobook and the narrator did a phenomenal job!

This is a fairly quick listen so I imagine that it would be a good read as well. The story moves at a great pace so you are not left waiting for things to happen or catch up. Mitzy always thought she was an orphan and then one day she was left money, an incredible bookstore, and found out she had family and others who quickly became friends. All while being arrested almost immediately for a murder (and you won’t believe who the corpse is!!!). She rolls with the punches as best she can and because of her stubbornness, doesn’t let the bad luck keep her down. There is a lot of small-town stuff where everyone knows everyone’s business, but at the same time a lot of those people become the family you didn’t know you had…or needed. Even after being accused of murder, having a ghost granny, crazy cat, potential love interest with the town sheriff that originally arrested her, and the family she didn’t know she needed, Mitzy is really finding that she belongs in Pin Cherry Harbor.

This is a super cute mystery that will suck you right from the start. I look forward to continuing the series and joining in on Mitzy’s misadventures!

#Review – As the Underworld Turns: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel: Good to the Last Demon, Book 1 by Robyn Peterman

What does a forty-year-old former child star do when she finds out she’s a Demon?

A sitcom, of course.

Age is just a number unless you’re an actress of a certain age trying to make a comeback in La La Land. Back in the day, I was the child star of the hit show Camp Bites. Today, I’m still living it down.

After a disastrous soap opera audition and getting fired from a TV show for not having a bodacious enough backside, one would think I’d be smart enough to go into real estate.

Nope.

Just found out from the rudest, meanest, and hottest guy alive that I’m a Demon. The jerk, also a Demon, goes by the name Abaddon—Abe to his friends.

I call him Dick.

He’s come from the Underworld to protect me—insert laugh track—since there’s a bounty on my head. Dick is not a welcome addition to my midlife madness. However, he won’t go away, and now, he’s my new boss.

Fine. Whatever. All I ever wanted to do in my life was pretend. I can pretend to get along with Dick. I can pretend that I’m not wildly attracted to him. Not sure I can pretend I’m human anymore, or that a supernatural assassin isn’t trying to cancel me, but I’m going to fake it until I make it. Or I get killed.

As the Underworld turns upside down, so have the days of my life.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

Ok, so, I’ve read a few books by Robyn Peterman and I read them when I need something that is a bit over the top and is going to make me laugh. I, myself, am quite sarcastic with the humor of a teenage boy sometimes who will absolutely laugh at all the wrong moments. This is one thing that I have come to love about these books. Now, I have a friend that has not read a Robyn book and asked me what I was reading. I was trying to explain this one and it came out sort of like a former child star that was having trouble getting roles with soap operas found out  she is half demon, that there are flaming assassins from the underworld after her, a Demon who is trying to help her that she dislikes but really loves and she has now dubbed as Dick, a nude gay ghost uncle that loves to dance, has a brother that enjoys the jazz cabbage, and she just bough property in Straightjacket Subdivision. I mean, who wouldn’t want to read this? It is corny at times, it is hilarious, but most of all there is literally a midlife crisis here that most of us can absolutely relate to in one way or another.

If you need something snarky, witty, and that will make you laugh, I highly recommend this one!

#Review – Chained to the Wolf King: An Alien Monster Romance (The Yzefrxyl) by Jade Waltz

She warned her captain not to leave the sol system.
He ignored her. Now the ship is dead, her crew is scattered, and Elsa has crash-landed on a frozen alien world ruled by massive, wolf-like predators who’ve never seen a human before.
The Alpha King claims her the moment he sees her.
Sylas is seven feet of fur, fangs, and barely restrained violence — and he’s decided she’s his. His mate. His property. He puts a silver collar around her throat, locks her in his chambers, and dares her to fight him on it.
So she does.
Elsa is a navigator. She maps escape routes the way she breathes. Star charts, terrain, wind patterns — anything that gets her one step closer to freedom. But Sylas isn’t just a monster king with claws that could gut her in a single swipe. He’s patient. Possessive. And the bond forming between them — a psychic thread neither of them asked for — is making it harder to tell where his obsession ends and hers begins.
His court wants her dead. His enemies are circling.
And when the Blood Moon rises, an ancient ritual will force her to run — and him to hunt.

Chained to the Wolf King is a full-length slow burn, sci-fi alien romance featuring a massive, morally gray wolf king, a heroine who refuses to break, forced proximity, a fated bond neither of them wanted, and a mating chase under a crimson moon.

Twinsie Kelly’s Review

Star crossed fated mates. Elsa and Sylas are the last people/species that either of them thought they would fall in love with. The plot is great! There is such a wonderful story here! Elsa crash lands on Sylas’ world. She and a few other humans are the only survivors and they are taken as prisoners. However, they have been found to be a bit more useful than just “prisoners.” With the humans here and being protected plus Elsa and Sylas are getting closer, corruption is now rising and becoming more prominent within the kingdom….all hell starts to break loose. Elsa still needs to protect the humans, Sylas still needs to protect his kingdom, but these two need to protect each other. While there is a lot of bond forming and affection happening, there is a great deal of action and respect occurring as well.

There is a really, really great story here. However, there were times when I felt like the same things were being repeated or some chapters were extremely drawn out for no reason. I think if this was a bit shorter or perhaps less descriptive in some areas, this could have been a really awesome story.

I was very surprised at the ending. It tied the book up very nicely with an HEA, but also a nice segue into a sequel. I look forward to the next adventure.
