I’m Evan Cook—billionaire tech entrepreneur and widower. Professionally, I’ve got it all. But since my wife died, my personal life has fallen apart. Remarrying seems like the obvious answer, so I place an ad. I’m not asking for much. The ideal woman only needs to be smart, organized, pretty, and helpful—both in and out of bed—without expecting romance. I never thought to look right in front of me…but it turns out that Nia Wright, my sexy, sassy assistant, just might be the perfect candidate.

After an unexpectedly hot night together, I’m ready to stop interviewing strangers and simply marry her. On paper, she ticks every box on my list. Best of all, she’s far too sensible to fall for me. I didn’t see the flaw in my logic until it was far too late. I never thought I’d lose my heart for the first time. And I definitely never imagined that she could consume me until I more than crave her. But she’s harboring a secret that could tear us apart—just as I’m finally putting myself together.

Chaser (Dive Bar #3)

Love isn’t always NEAT…

Bartender and all round bad boy, Eric Collins, has come to a crossroads. It’s time to take life seriously and maybe even attempt to settle down. If only the person he was hoping to settle down with didn’t turn out to be pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labor during a snowstorm and her car slides on some ice, however, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh Eric your man whoring ways are coming to an end my friend!!

Eric..we all remember Eric right???  He is part owner of the Dive Bar and certainly has no issue with the ladies.  He doesn’t mind all the attention he gets from his friends, or does he??  Maybe man whoring is not all he is good for??  Maybe, just maybe he wants *Gasp* More???  Eric IS a good guy but he just cant seem to keep it in his pants so to say.  What eligible, good looking guy would???  But then SHE arrives into town and everything changes.

Jean leaves Florida because she need a new life plan.  Jean goes to the Bar to meet her new friend Nell who is also going to help her start her life over.  When Eric sees Jean he is all “Hey How You Dion’?” until the baby bump pops out from under the table…yikes.

Since the two are going to be neighbors they quickly find a friendship of sorts but when the baby comes he see a new side to both of them and their new found feelings.

Eric…what can I say? I love a naughty guy who gets into trouble but I also loved seeing the character growth from the books until his book.

I received a copy of this book via netgalley for an honest review.

Yes, it is finally Eric’s story. Eric is Joe’s brother and if you read Dirty or Twist you are sure to remember him. I am so ready to see him redeemed not sure if that is possible but if it can be done Kylie will do it. I wasn’t sure about Eric when I read Dirty and Twist I mean yes he is easy going, an all about me kind of guy and a manwhore. However, I stilled wanted to see if he would be the same kind of guy when he was finally face to face with his one. I could not wait for him to meet his match and settle down. Then again maybe he would always be this way but man I hoped I was right on this.

Eric is getting it from all angles. His care free attitude toward woman is causing his friends who are beginning to settle down to come down on him hard. He decides he is going to give the stick with one girl thing a try. He happens to choose a new face that walked into the bar only thing is he didn’t realize he was getting a little more than he bargained for when he set his eyes on Jean.

Jean came to Coeur D’Alene so she could make a new start for herself and her baby. She meets Eric at the bar where he attempts to hit on her. This only causes a bit of friction because Jean just happens to be Nell’s online friend. I loved Jean she was so sweet. The instant chemistry between Jena and Eric was amazing. Even with that instant chemistry Eric decides to back off and go the friend route when he finds out she is pregnant.

I fell harder for Eric when he was reading the baby books to be able to help Jean when she needed him. I absolutely loved seeing this side of Eric. Seeing Eric and Jean baby bonding was so heartwarming. Being able to see the Stage Dive guys at the party was great, oh Mal you never let me down for a good laugh.

Curse of the Raven (The Union Series #5)

In the wake of the battle with the Gothi, Elle is struggling. Insecurity and chaos have taken a toll on her, and her heart longs for just a few moments of uninterrupted peace with the man she loves. When, once again, the Lakes are faced with even more trials and tribulations, she comes to the realization that in her own despair—completely unaware of doing so, she has left her man in doubt. And yet, even when she resolves to assure him of her feelings she fears her ex-boyfriend’s memories, which are stuck in his head, may rise to the surface.
Asher Lake sets out on a mission to find his predecessor Grant—who exists in his wolf form in the woods of Brokenridge, all the while knowing that there is no answer to the Raven’s curse on his own life—at least none he will accept. Knowing that his end is imminent he resigns to fate. The only thing he has to do in the meantime—other than continuing to strengthen his position as leader to the Union and keeping his family in line, is convince the woman he’s willing to sacrifice everything for of just how much he cares. However, even when his adversaries continue to haunt him and more and more questions rise up to torment him, his true quandary lies in this—knowing just how to go about popping the question…again.

Goodreads

I can’t get enough of the Union Series!!! All the trials and tribulations, twists and turns, and most importantly the stolen moments while living life to the fullest really sets this series apart from others. This is book 5 in this series and it continues to grow with new characters and crazy plot twists. I am not sure how the author dreamt this stuff up but the series has kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning and this installment holds true. The entire story is told from all of the characters points of view. Some people don’t care for this but the author does it in a way that we know what each character is feeling and what each one is going through. The characters are so real that you can’t help but want to help them fight or give them a hug when they are down. They continue to fight the good fight but continue to uncover new secrets that always put a kink in things. I feel like they are getting sooooooo close to Grant (they have even talked to him!!!) and trying to get the curse put to rest.  Asher is taking the time to get closer to Elle and trying to get some alone time but some of those moments continue to get stolen with all the chaos that comes with being Keeper. I am worried for Asher though as I sometimes get the feeling that he is done fighting but at other times I know he won’t give up. He is a tough cookie to figure out sometimes, but hey, that’s why I love him, haha! I thoroughly enjoy how this story ends but I am sitting on pins and needles to start reading book 6. My only hope is that by the time I am finished with 6 that 7 will be out. Crossing fingers!!!

After some tutoring and testing, she informed my parents that the reason I was having trouble in school wasn’t that I was dumb but instead dyslexic. When my stepfather heard this, he decided to take me to a used bookstore with the belief that the best way to improve my reading skills was to read. Some of the books were hard to get through at first, but with his encouragement, I refused to give up. We made many trips to that bookstore, and I especially loved the science fiction and fantasy sections. Then one day, after complaining about the ending of a particular book, my stepfather told me that if I didn’t like the books that I had been reading, then to write one myself—so I did.

My first attempt resulted in a horribly written western when I was fourteen, staring a cocky gun-slinging cowboy by the name Curt Calhoun. Curt along with his seven brothers, who all shared C names in common, may never have seen the pages of a book, but that was the day I started writing, and never stopped.

#WOTR18 #Review #Paranormal #Shifters – Refuge, (Stone’s Wolf Sanctuary #2) by Teresa Gabelman

Consumed with a need for revenge, Cole Jackson becomes blind to all he should hold dear. It’s not until vengeance has been carried out that he realizes what he’s almost lost.

After being brutally attacked, Leeza Snow, has kept her head up with her pride intact. What everyone doesn’t see is the shattered heart she conceals, not only from her pack but from the man she’s destined to be with.

While time can heal scars, it will take trust to offer a promise of a happy future.

Goodreads

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

This book picks up right after the end of Sanctuary, Book 1.  The guys have gone after and killed Foster.  Leeza is a broken woman.  She is sad the pack is upset at her for not protecting a younger female of the family but wishes things were different.  When Gemma mentions her rape, Leeza goes ape shit.  Nope sorry people she was not raped, and this untrue fact is why she gets the sad eyes from her pack members.

Leeza is a feisty woman.  When she confronts the brothers, it was my favorite scene.  She makes sure to set them straight on what they as her pack elders have done wrong and how they have let her down plus the memory of her brother, the old pack alpha, down.

Cole feels like a class A Jerk for not listening to Leeza, his mate.  He feels like an idiot for only thinking of his pain at not protecting her and not her pain at being attacked.

The two have some issues to overcome like his over the top alpha behavior at bossing her around.  Leeza is a strong, independent female who wants a partner not a dictator to love.  Cole needs to learn that females have wants and desires besides being cared for on a pedestal.  She wants to be involved in the pack plus earn her way.

I liked the story.  There wasn’t much conflict in this story, but it is set up for the drama to come in the next book.  Looks like Foster’s issues may not be out of the pack’s picture juuuuuuust yet.

Teresa Gabelman is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the ‘Protectors Series’. When not writing about sexy alpha vampires and the women who drive them crazy she can be found on a lake with a fishing pole/Kindle, at a MMA event or spending a fun evening with family.

Josiah Hallow carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Literally. Between keeping his family safe as the head of the Hallows, training his six younger brothers for their individual turns in the MMA cage, and guarding his mother’s amulet from the creatures who want to use it to take control of the world, his sanity is about to break.

Mating with the pure Sarah Merit, an overly-religious school teacher whose body makes every fiber of Josiah’s being stand at attention, could finally push him over the edge. Unfortunately, despite the all-consuming sex that blazes between the pair, it isn’t enough to convince Sarah to live with him so he can protect her, as well.

When Josiah learns the secret Sarah is keeping from him, he makes a deal with the pair of vampires who run the MMA promotion the family fights for in an attempt to save her. But will he be able to save her again when Sarah is kidnapped and taken to Josiah’s grandfather, Atticus, the vicious alpha of a pack of werewolves in Maine? And what will Sarah do when she finds out the sexy corner of the Hallow Brothers is a werewolf, too?

My baby daddy and my book!!  YAY!!  I finally get my HEA.  Granted Tricia had to change my name in the book to protect the “innocent” but rest assured its totally my book!!

In Sam’s book we got a bit of a cross over into Joe’s book with Sarah.  We knew she was a teacher and a fighter.  We knew the guys loved seeing the oldest brother fall and fall hard just like they did.

Joe is crazy with a desire and want that he has no understanding of lately.  He is feeling a pang of jealousy when he sees his brothers and their mates. He doesn’t have time for all that mating nonsense since he was trusted to care for the family being the eldest.  However, the fates give you what you need when you least expect it.  When Sarah walks into his life at his aunt’s funeral, he is stunned stupid.

Sarah is good friends his with crazy, religious aunts.  She prays with them and knows all about the deviant nephews they have.  When she sees Joe, she realizes he has been the stars of her naughty dreams lately.  The two have a crazy chemistry in the sheets but seem to clash A LOT out of the sheets.

Sarah is a good girl where as Joe is a cussing angry man….errr….werewolf!  Yes, Joe needs to have a nut punch and yes, his brother serve him up with Karma.  The speech they give him, which was the speech he gave them about a mate, was PRICELESS!!

The couple have A LOT to figure out, but they are still fighting against the vampires AND the other werewolf pack from Maine.  There is a lot of stuff happening to move the story line forward, but the book FLEW.  I was stunned at how it all flows and how happy my heart was.  Joe was a tough nut to crack but once he finally opens, he is a fluffy wolf at my feet…errr…Sarah’s feet.

#Review #Shifter Blackstone Wolf (Blackstone Mountain Book 4) by Alicia Montgomery

Wolf shifter Nathan Caldwell likes things casual when it comes to women, keeping them at arm’s length and never letting them get too close. So, when he meets the one, the mate his animal has chosen, he gets the surprise of his life when she rejects him.

Geologist Dr. Violet Robichaux is focused on her career and science. She keeps a tight reign on her emotions and her tiger, so when her animal chooses the foul-mouthed and rude wolf as her mate, she quickly shuts that down. Her stay in Blackstone is temporary, after all, and she can’t let her tiger or her heart make her decisions. But there’s another reason she can’t stay, one that’s a matter of life and death.

When danger brings them closer together, Violet and Nathan must face the odds to help a friend in need. They risk their lives to do the right thing, but also grow closer. Can Nathan convince Violet they’re meant to be together or will she resist the growing attraction so she can leave Blackstone with her heart intact

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

And another one bites the dust!!! Lol!! I think it’s funny that Montgomery’s men always seem to find their mates when they least expect it, it’s even funnier when the mate basically say “Thanks, but no thanks”.
This is Nathan and Violet’s story.
Nathan Caldwell is the Chief Engineer at Blackstone Mines, Dr. Violet Robichaux is the new temporary geologist at Blackstone Mines.
They both get one whiff of each other and instantly know they are mates. Violet immediately says “ Nope, can’t have a mate right now sorry” and Nathan says “ she doesn’t want me, well I don’t want her either. I have so many women I don’t need a mate”.
OMG, so much funny goes on with the, wanna mate don’t wanna mate stuff that goes on with Nathan and Violet.
Both are stubborn, both really want to mate, however while Violet has a reason why and just can’t share her secrets; Nathan’s reason is just stupid male pride.
While they deal with the to mate or not to mate thing, they also stumble into shifters being kidnapped and used as lab rats.
When they both sit down and really talk together, they find out that they really do want the same thing and that is each other. I can’t wait until the next Blackstone book I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s Luke, that’s lion is gonna be a handful and needs one heck of a mate beside him.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book
This is book two of the Stone’s Wolf Sanctuary and it picks up directly where book one ended, however this book is all about Alpha Eric Jackson’s brother Cole.
Leeza Snow is a wolf in Eric’s pack, one who no one has really talked to since another wolf was raped and she was hurt trying to protect her. She feels everyone has stopped talking to her because she failed to protect the younger girl, what she doesn’t realize is that the pack believes she was raped also.
This pack while strong and killed the bad guy, has really done a disservice to Leeza and the young wolf who has left the pack by ignoring them.
Cole is furious because he wasn’t the one to kill the man who hurt Leeza, who btw is his mate and neither have acted on it, and doesn’t really know how to talk to Leeza so he has been avoiding her along with the rest of the pack.
Ok, first off Leeza is a strong woman. Her first thought when she saw what was happening to the younger woman wasn’t about herself but how to protect her, which got her hurt. She knew the other girl needed her afterward and with no regards for herself again stayed with the girl even though she needed to shift to heal herself.
When she realizes what the others believe of her she goes off on the Alpha and the pack, one for not asking what really happened that night and two for the way that the pack treated to woman who had something horrific happen to them.
I love when Cole realizes just how much he screwed up with Leeza. Men are such stupid creatures it makes me wonder why I love them sometimes, then I remember that they kill really big bugs for me sooooo…….
Even after learning the truth and mating he still screws up with her by trying to tell her who she can work for, but she shuts that down quickly and he learns that Leeza is not a mate that will blindly do as she’s told and follow, she’s a mate that will stand beside her man and be a partner.
Refuge show us that you don’t know what really happened with something unless you ask all parties involved, not every Alpha does everything right and can learn from others in his pack, and women are strong as heck and so don’t mess with us.

#NewRelease #Review #BadGirls The Huntress (A Bad Girl Novel) by Theresa Hissong

The Huntress

My life was changed at the age of seventeen. A man took my innocence and turned me into a killer. I spend my days hunting for men just like him. I am paid by the families of the victims to deal out the justice a court of law is too afraid to do.

My hunt for a vicious man leads me right into the heart of Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The club he works for is notorious for its illegal activities. The night I search for him, I am captured by a man even deadlier than my mark.

Jackson Pace owns Club Phoenix, and his employee will be mine once he is found. The owner holds me hostage until he can convince me my task is too deadly without his help. Our time together sets my body and heart in a spiral. His need for me matches his strength. Jackson proves himself when he brings the wrath of hell upon those who have harmed me. He will soon realize I am as deadly as he is, and I will stop at nothing to punish the man I have been hired to kill.

This is who I am…This is what I do.

I am a huntress.

The Bad Girl series is a 2018/2019 collaboration between 13 authors releasing one book a month about kiss-ass women with a penchant for being bad. This is April’s book: The Huntress by Theresa Hissong.

Morgan Rayne is known to those that have need of her as The Huntress. She gives families of abused women the vengeance and closure that they need. Yes, she gets paid but she doesn’t do it for the money, that she donates to women’s shelters every year, she does it so because no woman should be abused, because she is the only one that can make the abusers pay, and because these women that have been abused are in a since her.
Jackson Pace is the owner of the hottest club in New Orleans and is a strong player in the New Orleans underground. He has heard of the huntress but has never had the pleasure or misfortune of meeting her.
Her next case leads her to Jackson’s club, they both are looking for the same man. However Jackson wants her to let him deal with him, but she is in no way about to let that happen.
OMG!! So, Morgan is totally a woman who did not let her past weaken her. Yes, she has some issues from it but she is a strong a** woman and a strong woman needs a strong man. Jackson is a man that hates when a woman is hurt, hates that the woman that her is becoming attracted to is trying to catch a dangerous man, however he also knows how strong she is. I love that rather than try to stop her, Jackson and his men are there when she needs help and he is there when she needs someone to help her see that she doesn’t have stand alone. After all, a Alpha female needs a Alpha male by her side, a partner not someone who tries to lead her.

The women in this series are total awesome and I for one can’t wait until May’s Bad Girl!!!!!

Midnight Breed – Hunter Legacy Book 1

New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian introduces the first novel in a thrilling new vampire romance series set in the darkly seductive Midnight Breed paranormal story world.

As a former assassin in the Hunter program, Asher is one of a small group of Gen One Breed vampires who survived the horrors of a madman’s laboratory and the cruelty of the training that made him one of the most lethal beings in existence. Now, twenty years after his escape from those hellish origins, Asher is a loner whose heart is as cold as his skills are merciless. But when he thwarts a killing under way in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas, Asher meets a beautiful woman who draws him into a deadly game against powerful enemies—one that will test both his skills and his tarnished honor.

Naomi Fallon is used to getting out of dicey situations. Orphaned as a child after her mother’s murder, she didn’t survive twenty-six years on the street without using up most of her nine lives. But when her latest caper lands her in the Mojave against a Vegas gangster’s henchman, she’s certain her number is up.

Then he appears—immense, brutal, and far from human. Naomi’s never needed anyone’s help, least of all one of the Breed. But after one risk too many, only a man with Asher’s skills can keep her safe. Yet the solitary, seductively handsome vampire has enemies of his own, and a secret that will not only shatter her faith in him but her heart, proving what she’s feared all along—that trust is only an illusion and love may be the sharpest weapon of all.

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.

So exciting to see a spin off series from one of my favorite original paranormal books/authors.  Midnight Breed was one of the first series who got me back into reading a few years ago.  I have been a huge fan and so when the spin off ARCS were available, I was so excited!!!

This story takes place 20 year after the Breed have been outted to the humans.  We, as a whole human society, are not so thrilled with our fanged neighbors but we are coexisting.  You don’t need to have read the Midnight Breed but seeing as we see characters from the original series it does make the book that much more exciting.

Asher is a Gen 1 Breed who has done more bad things in his life then he wants to remember or think about.  He just wants to live on his farm and be left alone.  Solitary life is perfect for him.  When he runs into a girl and saves her from a bunch of bad men, he is annoyed he can’t just go on his way.  Why can’t he just leave her there?  WELLL she is a rare human.  She is a Breedmate.  He is honor bound to protect her until The Order can come and take her to a safe place.  WELLLLL, Naomi is not about to let that happen.

When Naomi wakes up to be told she is a special vampire baby making human, ok Asher did not say that but she has it in her head he did…LOL she runs for the hills.  She has vengeance plans to make happen.  She will make her mothers murdered pay and she will not fail in her plan.

Naomi and Asher are the perfect pair to be fated together.  They both have horrors in their past and demons in their present to fight to make the HEA happen.  They both are so interested in the other but they will not fail the “duties” they both have even if that pesky chemistry still gets in the way!!  LOL

I can’t wait for another book!

Jess and Ryan are soulmates, but Ryan lets jealousy get in the way of his heart.  Jess lets fear and anger push her away from the person she knows will make her happy.

As far as we can remember it was Jess and Ryan.  They were discovering surfing together along with human sexuality *wiggles eyes* Ryan always wants more, and Jess always pulls back.  She knows she loves Ryan and he her, but they are only kids.

When competition gets in the way and the two break up, Ryan turns into a jerk.  He only cares for what makes him happy and for what can hurt Jess.

Jess tried to leave the beach and memories of Ryan but when she comes back to Ems wedding she is forced to deal with her past and Ryan’s new future.

I loved that Em’s wedding was the wake up call Ryan needed to go and chase his dream….Jess.  He knows this is who he needs to be with and will do anything he can to be with her.  We all know how those Sutter men are when they get a plan in their head….unstoppable.

Jess is done with everything, but she makes Ryan work and work hard at gaining her trust and affections again.  She will not be just another one of many for Ryan’s girls.

When the conflict of the story happens and our couple are put into some trouble, we see then pushing toward and away from each other.  WE see Ryan unwavering in his devotion to Jess while Jess falls apart.  Can Jess finally open he eyes and see that Ryan is the man she needs and will Ryan prove to Jess that she is enough for him???
