Long, Tall Cowboy Christmas (Happy, Texas #2)

A heartwarming holiday read from USA Today bestselling author Carolyn Brown

Nash Lamont is a man about as solitary as they come. That’s exactly why ranch life in middle-of-nowhere Happy, Texas suits him. So what the heck is he doing letting a beautiful widow and her three rambunctious children temporarily move in? Before he knows it, they’re stringing Christmas lights and decorating the tree… and he’s having the time of his life. But after everything he’s been through, Nash knows this kind of happiness doesn’t last.
Kasey Dawson thought she’d never get over the death of her husband. Nash, with his strong hands and infinite patience, is stirring something she hasn’t felt in a long time. Kasey knows the sexy cowboy isn’t telling her everything about this past, though. And she refuses to risk heartbreak all over again. But her kids have a plan of their own: Nothing will keep them from having a real family again-even if it takes a little help from Santa himself.

Hi! I’m twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can’t trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who’ve made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He’s even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!

Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio’s box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.

I love writing romance because it’s about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn’t changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter… all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I’ve touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.

I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it’s brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They’ve also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN’S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.

Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there’s enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I’m writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I’m telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!

I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I’m very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.

Sweet Baby Jesus this book!!  I was blown away.  I am so used to Jade’s rocker books being so filled with Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll……you know the rock and roll life style but this book is so not that.  Yes, there is some of it in the beginning because we are seeing Sam and Debbie at the end of their relationship.  We have all seen it coming in Clay and Emily’s book but this book we see the final nail in the coffin.

Sam and Grace’s book is…gosh dare I say it…so sweet.  Yes, friends Jade wrote an angsty book and the love story between these characters is amazing. The love story is told so effortlessly.  I mean we are reading the story and SEEING the easy friendship turn into so much more over a simple task of making a pot of chili!!  Sam is 30 and Grace is 19 so what could they have in common right?  But as the story unfolds and we see all they have in common.  They are both the perfect fit for the other.  They both bring out the best in the other.  They both fall head over heels and it terrifies them like nothing else can or will.  Sam thinks he is so bad for her because of her good girl persona.  Grace thinking her inexperience is making her look like an idiot because no rock god would want to date her!

I loved Grace.  She is a young and innocent girl but she isn’t an idiot either.  She is strong in her convictions and she knows Sam is who she wants.  She also knows her parents will not be ok with her seeing the rocker next door and so she hides their romance much to Sam’s disapproval.

We see them both struggle with wanting to other person and we see them trying to figure out how to be with the other and make their partner happy in the same process. The ending chapters of the book FLEW.  There is so much happening but Sam……..Dreamy sigh………….yeah what he does to secure his girl to him forever……………….well let’s just say how can her parents not love him after that???

Now when can we see Brian get his HEA after his divorce????  I freaking still love him!!  Plus the name ya know 😊

#review – Boiling Point, Feverish Book 1.5 by Jade C. Jamison @JadeCJamison

Boiling Point (Feverish, #1.5)

Pathetic.
Needy.
Untrusting.

Emily Brinkman hears all these descriptions in her head, all the things she knows others are thinking when she joins her boyfriend, Clay “Jet” Smith, on tour with his band. It doesn’t matter that she’s going as his PA as well; she knows she’s being judged…but she also knows that the people watching are half right.

Hot.
Tight.
Fine.

Clay can hear what all the men around him think of his sweet girlfriend and he loves having Emily join him on tour. To this woman, he’s not just a one-dimensional axe-slinging guitar god. She loves him and wants the best for him, and she won’t tell him something just because it’s what he wants to hear. But Clay didn’t stop to realize that all the guys on tour–from the roadies to security and even their frontman–would appreciate that Emily is a nice piece of ass. He will need to learn to trust her if their relationship is going to survive.

Will Clay and Emily survive the bumps on the road or will their time on tour drive them apart?

Oh Clay…Sigh…but HELLO Jet!!  It’s been a looong time since we hooked up. *wiggles eyebrows and whispers* Don’t tell Melinda or Daddy Brad…M’Kay???

So our party boy/Wild Man has settled down with sweet little PA, Emily.  All is good in their little world but now the REAL World comes crashing down on them. Jet has to go on tour.  Emily is a wreck because she is listening to one of the band members girlfriends spew trash about the life of dating a rocker.  Clay is acting more and more like Jet to Emily’s liking plus the roadies treat her like crap.  Jet can’t handle his own insecurities about Emily’s love.  Is it because he is a rocker with bundles of money or does she really love Clay and his sweet sensitive heart??

This book our couple goes through it all.  They are so excited to be together and keep their little “love cloud” a rolling that they start to let other people’s views and perceptions get in the way of their happiness.

I loved Emily realizing that Jet’s attitude isn’t so bad when you need to get stuff done.  I also loved how Clay felt real pride in his woman when he realized she was much respected in her line of work.  If only the two can talk and not just sweep things under the carpet until the bomb goes off……

You have no idea how excited I was to get more of Jet/Clay. You see I have loved him the most out of all the Bullet series guys since jump. I wasn’t sure how Boiling Point could top Feverish with Clay and Emily but she did it and I fell more in love with Clay/Jet and Emily.

The time has come for the band to go on tour and Emily is going because she is Clay’s P.A. She has her insecurities tested while on the road. Between the treatment from the road crew, being on the bus with all the guys, seeing all the girls come and go, and then there is Debbie that keeps talking about all the horrible tour life things sure doesn’t help with all her insecurities.

Clay has been burned before by a love and now he is caught in his head thinking maybe Emily is like his ex. Both feel the disconnect but because of their pasts are having difficult time overcoming it and talking to each other instead of keeping it bottled up waiting for the top to explode. Jet is able to toss that brick wall up and move on but sweet Clay struggles with what he thinks is going on. Can Clay and Emily survive life on the road or will what they have fizzle out before it really gets started?

This is a great quick read and continuation of Feverish being able to see into life on the road and to see the tribulations they go through. I enjoyed Emily and her way of dealing with what is going on during the tour. I loved seeing Clay’s sweet insecure side and then seeing Clay’s alter ego side Jet come out to play. I’m so excited for this series to get to know the other band members and of course to see more of my Clay/Jet. *swoon* Clay/Jet I still love them equally from the sweet caring Clay to the down and dirty Jet I cannot get enough of them.

WOW Just WOW this story is one I will remember for a while to come. Mari was the “music geek” in school and Cole was the “jock” need I say more. Throughout this book we see how Mari was treated and picked on in high school. However, Mari is strong and with the help of her best friend she is able to be herself despite her insecurities.
Mari had things going her way she was the lead singer of a band and they were rising fast. But one night her past was sitting next to her at the bar. How does one deal with the past especially one that caused you so much pain?
Cole was on his way to the NFL when an injury changed his path. Now he is a coach and a very good one at the high school in town. Now having to face his past mistakes and dealing with the high school kids issues he can see things in a new light.
I admire Mari not everyone could forgive but over time she was able to and dropped her walls. Mari learns quick that dropping walls will expose your heart. Can Mari and Cole get over the past and make things work or will the past end them?
I loved the relationship that Mari and the band members have. Their protective nature over her was heart warming especially her BFF Sawyer. Cole was so sweet with the way he tried to win Mari over. This series has me hooked and I cannot wait for more.
A few of my favorites from the book:
I bent my head and devoured her lips like I needed her to survive.
I peeked over my shoulder at the man who’d captured my heart with a guitar and a sweet smile.
For a brief period in my life, I’d thought losing my change in the NFL was the end of the world.  How wrong was I? I’d had no idea that losing the woman in front of me would hurt a hundred times more. There would never be another Mari.

Sweet Baby Jesus this book!!  I have been dying to read this story and when I got it I was mad as a hornet that I had to wait a day to actually open it.

Austyn and Ryker, man their story was something.  I knew Ryan would do it justice but I was so blown away by everything.  The backstory for Ryker was so crazy.  I hate to say it but all that happened to him made him the man he is today.  The man who finally manned up to go after the woman he loves.

Austyn has loved Ryker since forever.  But being who her mom and dad are, she was totally not even to be looked at that way.  Dude Princess is her mom and we all know she is crazy…good crazy but crazy still!!

Austyn and Ryker are thrown together since he is her bodyguard to figure out what is going on after everything that happened to her.  Austyn is totally not going to let her emotions get in the way and she channels her mom for some strength and grit.  However, it’s too late because Ryker is there to claim his woman once and form damn all!!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh baby!!  This book did not let me down.  Micah our sweet, nerdy, virgin shifter finds his mate in the druggie stripper turned prostitute after a night out with his brothers!!  So yeah not really the girl to bring home to mom especially when you’re the momma’s boy!!

Micah and Eve are a great combo.  Both have never felt the love of a significant other. Eve only knows heart ache by people where Micah only knows the love of his family…granted overbearing family but still family.

When the couple are thrown together and Micah agrees to step foot into the ring to save her, the couple have A LOT to learn a about each other.  I felt a little bad for Eve because no one liked her buuut can you blame them when they see her track marks????  Yeah exactly.  I did like that Meg put her in her place and informed her that she is family whether she wants to be or not so get over it.  The brothers all pitch in to help Micah get ready for his fight and start to show Eve what family is all about.  I think I loved Caleb a little bit more for his encouragement with Eve.

There is a lot of stuff happening in this book…new bag guys and maybe even more bad guys on top of the first group.  Dealing with Eve’s ex “employer”, Momma’s special necklace and a brother with a secret mate/lover perhaps????

I am super excited for the next book ad have my fingers crossed for the secret lover storyline that was touched on a couple times in the book!!!

#Review – Feverish, Feverish Series Book 1 & Bullet Series Book 3 by Jade C. Jamison @JadeCJamison

Clayton “Jet” Smith has enjoyed acting the part of rock star god bad boy since his breakup with rock goddess Valerie Quinn. He’s racking up quite a score playing the field, and he has no plans to settle down anytime soon. His biggest problem these days is meeting his obligations, because he’s so busy having fun, he forgets the important things. To help him out, he hires recent graduate Emily Brinkman to be his personal assistant, and he quickly finds a fire burning in his belly for her. There are two problems, however. The first is that Emily is engaged to be married, a fact that leaves Jet unfazed. The second problem isn’t so easy to surmount, though. Emily is disgusted and unimpressed by both sides of the man.

Will Clay find a way to persuade Emily to try him out, not just for one night, but for all time?

Feverish moves the Bullet story forward. You don’t want to miss this one!

I received this book by the author for an honest review.
First off I have to say I fell in love with Clay/Jet from the first time we were introduced to him in Bullet. There was something about him that just stole my heart.  I have been waiting for his story ever since.  My fellow TT blogger girls have their own favorites but I’m not too happy to hear them tell me if their guy messes up they are running to Clay/Jet….NOT COOL ladies NOT COOL.
Clay is the kind hearted wants to help you if he can kind of guy.  In order to protect his heart, that has been torn to shreds on occasion, has Jet who is his bad ass don’t care what you think kind of guy.  Emily was just graduating with her masters in business and wanted to find a job little did she know it was going to be getting a rock star organized.  I loved seeing how Clay and Mary, his housekeeper, interacted one of my favorite quotes from her was when he decided he needed to hire a PA and he assumed she would be doing the interviews and hiring her response:
“NO, tonto. You’ll do the interviews.”
I could just see the look on his face, the look of really she isn’t
going to do this for me I’m going to have to.
Emily was engaged to one of the biggest DB around.  You will see for yourself the hotel scene had me fighting mad right along with Emily.
If I could have jumped into a book and took someone out it would have been him.  After it all went down this is what Clay had to say:
“That guy has no idea how to treat a lady.”
How can you not love a guy like that? I love that Clay can be all
heartfelt and loving one second and then unleash Jet and be well JET the next.  Just read and you will see.  From there Wow did things heat up!  Jet did not disappoint that is for sure.
Can I say I knew he was in love with Val in Bullet but I had no idea he
was that in love with her.  I wanted to crawl in to the book and curl up next to Clay when he laid his heart on the line and told Emily his story about his past loves. Here is one of my favorite realizations that Emily came to:
“her blood hadn’t boiled with him (Bryce). The hair on her arms hadn’t  even stood on end, hoping to feel
his touch.  Hell, she hadn’t dampened
many panties with the guy even; Clay, on the other hand, had infected her with
deep desire, and she couldn’t deny it.”
I loved the fact that Clay tried to bring Jet forward to protect
himself but somehow Clay always came thru.  He couldn’t fool Emily, her dad, or Mary for that matter they always seem to see what was going on.  Just proves my initial thought of Clay/Jet was right on.  Y’all can have your Daddy Brad, Ethan, and whoever else but I will stick with my Clay/Jet no matter what.  He is a kind loving sole with the a little bad boy in him, I get the best of both worlds.
