#WOTR18 #NewRelease #Review – Earl of Harrington (Wicked Earls’ Club #12, Bluestockings Defying Rogues 1) by Dawn Brower

Earl of Harrington (Bluestockings Defying Rogues 1)

Jonas Parker, the Earl of Harrington has no desire to marry. He rather enjoys being unencumbered and a wife would complicate things. The Wicked Earls’ Club is his haven and he isn’t ready to give it up for matrimony. His grandfather, the Duke of Southington wants nothing more than to see him wed and return to the fold. For that reason alone he’ll avoid proper ladies and wedding bells.

Lady Marian Lindsay rather likes being a spinster and embraces her bluestocking ways. She studying to be a physician and wants to be a proper doctor. She longs to be taken seriously in the medical field, but her efforts go unnoticed. After careful deliberation she devises a scheme that is foolproof, but she needs the help of one of her father’s friends to make it happen.

Harrington is appalled at Marian’s request and refuses outright; however, she somehow manages to charm him into saying yes. Before he realizes it he’s escorting her to Kent and a house party made of his worst nightmares. Propriety must be met at all costs, because he will not be wed at the end of her expedition–or will he?

Goodreads

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Jonas and Marian!! What a fun couple to read.  I must admit I was just as taken by all the side characters and revisiting characters from Dawn’s other series that this book FLEW when I read it.

Marian is so strong willed and so NOT your typical Ton chit.  She is not looking for a husband and is quite happy that people already consider her a spinster in the making.

Jonas loves his live as a rake.  He is very happy to spend his time gambling with friends or snuggled with a loose skirted woman then look for love.  He will not make his grandfather happy and find a wife to carry on the Duke’s title.

Jonas and Marian are hilarious with the banter they have. She cannot stand him, or can she?  He loves to flirt just to get under her skin or is it because she is under his skin??

The couple end up spending the weekend at a Garden Picnic when they are confronted with their feelings.  Of course, Jonas makes a move and then breaks Marian’s heart.  Stupid man!  But when Marian is in desperate need of protection, Jones realizes his love for her overrides his fear of marriage, title, and duty!!

I cannot wait to read more from Dawn’s new series.  This book is a series starter as well as part of the Wicked Earl’s Club .  I am dying to see the other ladies find love and the other men as well.

When and Why did you start to write?

Fall of 2013. I started to write because my stepsister dared me to. I’ve been a writing fiend ever since.

What authors do you always read or suggest to others?

I read things across all genres. I have a deep appreciation for the written word. Recently I just finished reading The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series (well the two books that are currently available.) by Hailey Edwards. The way she strings words together is pure magic–like brushstrokes that paint a picture in your imagination. If you like urban fantasy you should definitely check out her work.

I also love Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh and Sherrilyn Kenyon. My go-to authors in historical are Tessa Dare, Julia Quinn, and Johanna Lindsay. Contemporary I like Jaci Burton, Avery Flynn, and Carrie Ann Ryan to name a few.

I have almost everything Lexi Blake has written in audiobook–but I haven’t had time to listen to them. A good friend of mine loves her and I plan on giving her a go next. At least before RT in Reno because I’m sitting on a panel with her and I’d like know something about her work before then, lol.

Basically I read anything…

What is the most surprising thing you have found out with the writing process?

That I can still do it. Each time I sit down to start a new book I think that I can’t possibly finish a whole book, and yet, I do. It amazes me each and every time.

What are you working on now?

I just finished writing Earl of Harrington and sent it off to my editor. It’s part of this huge coordinated release with 11 other authors. The series is The Wicked Earls’ Club. Next I’m writing the final Heart’s Intent book which will release early summer.

When writing are you a pantser or plotter?

Mostly pantster with a little plotter tossed in.
