#BloggerFosteringAnAuthor – Maybe Tomorrow: A Maybe… Novel (Maybe… #4) by Kim Golden

Maybe Tomorrow: A Maybe... Novel

No such thing as love…

Eddy and Henrik don’t believe in love. At least, that’s what they keep telling themselves. They’ve been burned in the past, and neither wants to be that vulnerable again.

A summer fling…

That’s all it was ever supposed to be. So why can’t they stop thinking about one another? And for Eddy–who’s moving back to America in a few weeks–the worst thing that could happen would be to fall in love with the one man who could make her question her decision.

Out of his comfort zone…

Henrik never counted on trusting love again. He’s put all his energy into his career. So why does the thought of Eddy leaving Europe for good make him want to do everything in his power to make her want to stay…?

from Maybe Tomorrow

“Well, it’s just us here. .but it’s not a scary film so we should be okay.”

Once the film started, she was so lost in it, I think she forgot I was even there. I couldn’t blame her. The story of a war photographer whose family can no longer accept the danger of her work, and the emotional maelstrom it sets off when she puts one of her children at risk, was so compelling that I was too caught up in it to remember to even eat my popcorn.

Halfway through the film, Eddy shifted in her seat and nestled into me so that her head rested on my shoulder. On the screen, a love scene unfolded between Juliette Binoche and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as they grappled with their issues and the weight of their love for one another. And it hit me–soon Eddy would leave. She’d already made it clear she was returning to New York once Laney and Mads were back from their honeymoon. These weeks in Copenhagen were only a brief respite until she could have access to her apartment in New York. I wanted to convince her to stay despite how fleeting whatever we had was. I was no different from the husband on screen, trying to persuade his wanderlust wife to stay. The only difference was there was nothing to hold Eddy here. And I knew that the only thing we had were these days together. Whatever was going on between us–was it a fling? Were we simply friends?

When she sighed, I turned my head just enough to capture her lips with mine. I cupped her cheek with my palm and held her there. Even in the dark cinema I could see her shining eyes, the questioning they held. .but then her hand crept up to mine and her fingers slid into the space mine left and it felt like in that moment we made a promise to one another.

#BloggerFosteringAnAuthorWeek #MM #Giveaway – The Caretaker, The Sin Bin Book #2 by Dahlia Donovan

Who cares for the caretaker when his burden grows too heavy to bear?

Freddie Whittle devotes his life to his cancer patients, cheese, and his overprotective fathers. His big move to Cardiff is tainted by bigot neighbors and a dismal social life. He wants something more but doesn’t know what until he runs headlong into a Scottish-Maori mountain of a man.

Taine Afoa retires from international rugby feeling restless. He left his career behind and relocates for a change of pace. The last thing he expects is to become infatuated with someone who seems far too young and innocent for him. No matter how hard he tries, it’s impossible to get Freddie out of his mind.

Can Freddie handle the intensity of Taine’s naughty sexual desires?

And when the strong alpha male tangles with the playful nurse, will this May-December romance end before it even begins?

The Caretaker is book two in Dahlia Donovan’s international bestselling gay romance series, The Sin Bin. Each one features hot rugby players and the men who steal their hearts.

“Overall, I think that The Caretaker is one of the best reads I have had this year. It was witty, it was passionate, and most of all, it was all incredibly realistic. It was wonderfully written, and as I have said before, such a refreshing read. Dahlia Donovan did such an incredible job on it. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into more of her work. Five stars! Amazing!”  —Loren E., Amazon Reviewer

“Are you going to continue to stare at my lips whenever you look my direction?” Taine’s voice dropped down to a husky whisper. “If you are, why don’t you bring yours a little closer to mine? You’ll see them far better with your mouth than your eyes.”

Cursing his exuberant and generally impulsive nature, Freddie leaned forward until their lips hovered a breath away from each other. One strong exhale could bring them close enough to qualify as a kiss. Taine didn’t move backwards or forwards; they both waited for the deadlock to be broken.

“Oh, why not,” Freddie muttered impatiently. He surged forward, closing the distance. His lips smacked awkwardly to the left of Taine’s, which caused the man to chuckle. “Oh, coc y gath, sorry.”

“Calm down.” Taine caught Freddie’s chin in his hand and guided him closer. His mouth controlled the connection. They had to tilt to avoid their noses mashing uncomfortably. The former rugby player’s tongue darted across Freddie’s lips and pressed the advantage. He delved expertly into their true first touch. “Now that is a kiss.”

“You should be ashamed.”

Freddie jerked away from Taine and snapped around to find a woman in her sixties glaring at them—or at Taine specifically. “Pardon?”

“You should be ashamed.” She pointed a bony finger at Taine. “Corrupting a young teenager. Is that legal? I’ve half a mind to report you. Are you okay, young man? Did he force you away from your parents?”

“A teenager?” Freddie swallowed down an irrational burble of laughter. “I’m twenty-six years old.”

“Oh. Oh, dear. I’m so sorry.” She covered her mouth in obvious embarrassment. “You look so young. I just assumed. Carry on then, loves. Never you mind me. It’s always good to see someone enjoying the pleasures of life.”

The two men stayed silent after accepting her apology. Freddie only dared to peek at Taine out of the corner of his eye once the woman had gone back to her seat. A clear mistake. It started with a snort, muffled quickly by his hand, but quickly dissolved into laughter anyway; it continued until their sides ached and they were gasping for air.

Freddie regained his composure just as the train pulled into Paddington station, forcing him to shelve any comments about the kiss. “Ready for the next stage of the journey?”

from Maybe Forever

I looked up from the sketches Jonas had given me. Benny was perched on the

far end of the farm table we used for all meetings and group pow-wows. “It’s actually next week, but we’ll all be in Milan.”

“So you’re celebrating early?” She crossed her ankles. Her overalls gapped at the side and revealed glimpses of evenly tanned skin. I glanced away. “I love that you two are so. .romantic.” She said it as though my wanting to do something nice for Laney was quaint.

“Did you finish the updates to the sketches for the Hotel Alexandra project?” I didn’t want to discuss Laney with Benny. I knew how it would go. Benny was

one of those women who said she was one of the guys. But she made sure you

always knew she wasn’t one of the guys. And right now I couldn’t concentrate with her watching me, swinging her legs back and forth, flashing that smile I knew my workshop mates Jonas and Morten had called saucy. Saucy because

she made you feel like she’d stripped you naked without even removing a

single piece of clothing, like she should see past all your defenses. She was the sort of woman you could fuck if you wanted and pretend you could go back to

being friends. Because that’s what the cool girls did. At least, that’s what Laney used to tell me. Because she said she’d been one of those women.

I stole another glance at Benny. She’d hopped off the table and was now

peering down at the table top and the unfurled prints of the ideas for the hotel renovation we’d presented for a project bid. She leaned forward, the tops of her breasts suddenly exposed. I felt my mouth going dry. I looked away. I didn’t want her. I knew I didn’t. I wanted my wife. But. .no, this was just a rough patch.

Benny was not the one I wanted to hold.

I wanted Laney.

I wanted her to want me again.

from Maybe Baby

He pulled a crushed packet of cigarettes from the pocket of his jeans and

offered me one. I accepted it and leaned in so he could light it for me. As I took that first illicit drag, he said, “I think I saw you earlier. I was in a café and I looked out the window and saw someone who looked a lot like you.”

“I saw you, too,” I admitted. We both exhaled smoke and watched the milky tendrils merge and swirl. We kept our backs to the bar and looked out over the water again. “And when I saw you in their. . books, I was a little stunned.”

“I wasn’t expecting to see you here, either.”

His voice trailed down my spine. I stole a glance at him. I was wrong earlier when I said he wasn’t handsome. There was something so masculine about him.

I couldn’t really find the words to describe him. He was tall and lean, but there was a strength to him. Underneath his clothing was sure to be the body of

someone who did not go to the gym, but who had the natural muscles and

leanness of physical labor. He didn’t have the perfectly slicked-back hair that most Scandinavian men seemed to favor; they wore it like a badge of their

social class and their success. Mads’s hair was a messy mop of waves and stray curls that looked coppery in the glow of the spotlights. He swept back the curls that hung in front of his eyes and revealed the most beautiful pair of hazel eyes.

I bit my lower lip. He was too good-looking for me, and he was smiling at me with such fierceness that I knew he felt something, too. He was watching me. I could feel the path his eyes took. My body tingled in anticipation.

“I saw you standing there and I thought, shit, this must be some kind of dream.

Or maybe Ida was playing a joke on me.”

We both laughed. What were the chances?

#WOTR18 #Review #YA – Persuading Tomorrow by Jennifer Laslie

Persuading Tomorrow

When the unimaginable happens and Jordan loses her best friend on the night she had planned to tell him her feelings, it leaves her to wonder if she’s the guilty party, but her memories of that night are fuzzy. In an attempt to leave her past and the hateful stares of her peers behind, she moves across the country to live with her mother in Esterwilde, Pennsylvania. It’s a small close-knit town, but there no one should know about her past, or so she thought.

When Zyler runs into the new girl in town he can’t help but feel a connection, but he also knows her past harbors a horrible secret. He’s heard the rumors, but doesn’t believe them. Seeing Jordan in pain kills him and all he wants to do is take it away.

Jordan soon realizes that no matter what she does she’s not going to be able to outrun her past. Can Zyler show her that despite the hate and ignorance in the world that life is still worth living? Will she ever figure out the truth about the night that took away her best friend?

Goodreads

Amazon

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

This book is about the pain that Jordan is dealing with after the death of her best friend.  She feels the guilt and loss of him plus blames herself for his death after a night of partying.  She can’t take it and so she moves across country to stay with her mom.  Between the guilt, depression and whispers from the kids at her school she needed a fresh start.

Poor Jordan can’t catch a break because once she shows up at her new school it seems they too know her secrets.  However, one boy, Zyler, doesn’t care and wants to get to know the new girl no matter what.

I think the book does a good job with the emotions Jordan is dealing with and in scene really delves into why teens would think death is easier than life.  I loved Zyler and his positive force in Jordan’s life.  I also loved that even though he has major troubles he is willing to always remain optimistic in life.  He is kinda the ying to her yang.

The books has a villain we totally hate but it also shows the “other side” of the bully.  The girl’s why’s for her horrible treatment of Jordan.  We can see how teenagers are so focused on themselves to see what other people maybe dealing with.

I liked the little mystery thrown into the book and there is a cliffy at the end but I am a fan of cliffys so it doesn’t make me mad.  It makes me wanna know what happens to the Jordan and Zyler.

Jennifer Laslie is a crazy cat lady who lives in Louisville, KY with her wonderful husband and two children. When she’s not thinking about cheesecake or cats, she can be found in the bookstore in the Young Adult section, coffee in hand.

Unfortunately, celebrating that will have to take a back seat.

Bellamy has released his drugged minion vampires loose in the city.
Buildings are burning.
Humans are dying.
And that precarious balance of peace between humans and vampires is toppling on its axis.

Can Lucy and her three men stop Bellamy from destroying the city? Or will she fail to get the revenge she desires for what he’s done to them all?

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

GAH!!  The end of Lucy’s Love Nest! NOOO!!!  LOL

So the final book in the serial ends up with Vex, Lucy, Hollis and Sloan going after Bellamy with the help of Claudia, Abraham and the other STF Agent.  The group have a huge war to deal with in the end when fighting the mega bad ancient vampire.  WE learn a little bit of history about Bellamy and Vex plus Abraham.  Big plot twists is given away in regards to how the guys know each other!!!

The Lucy’s guys are ok with allowing Vex into the new agreement when they find out who he is and how Lucy feels about him.  They are all falling into a great family and Vex is a perfect fit.  Sloan and Vex were cracking me up and Hollis is the adult of the group but I just love them all.  I will miss reading about their relationship but I can’t wait for Claudia and who her guys will be!!!

K.B. Ladnier is from a small city in Southern Mississippi. She has one daughter and three cats who she claims are stealing her soul in only tiny doses so she won’t notice. She is a cyborg and spends most of her time hiding from her tiny human so she doesn’t have to share her snacks as she reads her favorite books. She hates the beach yet lives only ten minutes away from it and daydreams of mountains and snow. She is married to a hot nerd and loves him dearly even though he hordes cookies and occasionally hides her prosthetic leg from her when she’s mad, so he can get a quick escape. She plans to write as long as people continue loving what she does, otherwise she’s going to say screw it and do her second dream of owning a coffee shop. Though, she may still do both.
