Holy broken and ruined for all other men….Caleb is the Anti-hero you love and have no business loving and then….and then ..and then you find out EVERYTHING and then…then…then you break for him.  Seriously I cried for Caleb at time or two.  I had a lump in my throat for this ruined man.  This soul who falls in love with Livvie knowing he can’t have her.  She can’t be his no matter what.

This book picks up and Livvie is in FBI custody…yay she didn’t get sold buuuuut then we find out *Gasp* Caleb is not around.  We are having to listen to Livvie retell the story after the end of book 1.  We learn so much about Caleb and his desire for Livvie but also wanting to make his mentor happy. He is a hot, confused mess.  I mean how do you turn your back on your mentor, your savior when your vengeance is so close at Livvie’s cost???  Caleb has a lot to think about and also come to terms with about his and Livvie’s future.

The twists are so crazy in this book.  The betrayals are so epic in this book. I was BLOWN AWAY when the bombs start dropping and all the secrets are spilled.  Caleb and Livvie have a lot of drama to contend with IF they are to make it out alive and make it out alive together.

Seriously, Caleb……can we talk about him.  I cannot wait to read book 3 because I am dying to know his POV on everything Livvie shared with us because he says she was “kind” in her retelling.  I am certain Caleb isn’t all hearts and flowers but since he feels he doesnt serve her to begin with I think he will be a bit harder on himself in the long run of it all.  But *sigh* he loves her and that is all I need to know.

I purchased this book.

Oh LAWD where do I begin?  Ok so I have had this book sitting on my kindle for years…yes plural YEARS.  Why?  Because it scared the ever-loving hell outta me, BUT I was curious.  So as the years have gone, I have dipped my toe into dark novels and finally got the balls to read Caleb. I had a whole cheering squad behind me…remember I am pathetic…..and sat down over Spring Break to be destroyed.  After reading it in a total binge session, I am glad to say Caleb isn’t AS BAD as I feared.  Don’t get me wrong he is a bad bad bad man, but he is the perfect Anti-Hero.  I mean we should not be rooting for a kidnapper and sex slaver to love you and yet I was.  I was wanting him to accept what his heart was telling him and let kitten go!!!

Caleb was sold for years in the sex slave industry.  He has no recollection of his life before the slavery started.  He has no memory of his REAL name.  All he knows is vengeance and his overwhelming need to assist his new ally, Rafiq.  The two are all for vengeance and take Livvie as their method of the perfect way in.

Livvie is just trying to get through her horrible life when help from an attractive stranger leads her to the hell she is currently in.  She is trapped in the dark unless her Master is near.  The conditioning, mental breaking of Livvie and the physical breaking of her is a fear we all have of these situations.  But like all Stockholmed survivors we look to Caleb, our Master, to provide comfort and support.

When the dynamic of the two changed, we see Caleb’s confusion.  How can he care about her feelings? Why is he calling her by her given name?  She is property and yet he cares for her?  Is that what he is feeling?  How can this happen to him, the controlled Master?  How can he think about throwing away all the years of care and training with his friend Rafiq for her???
